13 August 2017 - What Is Christianity - Reverend Canon J. John Sermon Notes Online - New Creation Church Sermon Notes OnlineThe church is an intergalactic enterprise! Christianity is an invitation. It's not a demand, it's an offer. It's very important to reply to this invitation while you're still alive. We don't know whether we will still be alive tomorrow. We can only be sure that we have today. John 3:16 - Who is the invitation from, who is the invitation to, and what is it about? This verse answers these questions. If you ask the wrong questions, you can never get the right answers. The invitation is from God, delivered to us from Jesus. The invitation is to every single one of us. Some people say that Christianity is a crutch. Everyone is a broken person - isn't it great to be able to lean on Jesus while He is putting us back together? According to the Bible, the length of a good life is threescore and 10 years which is 70 years. That's just a blip on the eternal screen. Christianity is forgiveness from the past, a new life here today and hope for the future. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16 NIV) 1. Forgiveness from the past Governments are working to treat the problems in the world which symptoms, but what is the root cause of every single problem in the world today? The heart of the human problem is the problem of the human heart. Our hearts have dis-ease and it's out of the heart that seeds of evil are spread and produce all sorts of problems in the world today. The sinful things that we have done, said and thought before we were saved disconnected us from God. Jesus dying on the cross is like a blank cheque signed by His shed blood to pay for the sin debt of the world. Jesus came to clean us, restore us and to reframe us just like an old painting.
