Disney On Ice Review - Mickey's Super Celebration 2019 Experience and Tips to Stay Ahead of the Crowd

Hi dear reader, we just attended Disney on Ice at Singapore Indoor Stadium earlier today. It was the first-time ever for Maeleth, Amilee and I.

In short, the experience was world-class and awesome!

I don't want to give away too much spoilers in this post in case you're planning to go over the next few days (the show runs until 24 March 2019) so I'll focus on sharing tips on how you can stay ahead of the horde of show-goers before and after the show!

What to wear?

Mae wore a Minnie Mouse ears headband, a dress -- the top covered her biceps, and black "Disney's Frozen" boots. We brought a jacket for her along in case it was cold but she didn't need it.

Many little girls were donning their favorite Frozen Elsa dress.

Amilee is more susceptible to the cold, so she wore a long sleeved top.

A T-shirt was comfortable enough for me. I didn't want to wear long-sleeved because that would be very uncomfortable to wear while queuing under the hot sun.

Where to park your car

We parked our car in Carpark 5 on parking lot number 69, right in front of Kallang Leisure Park. After much recee-ing, we decided on that lot because it is one of the best positions to exit the carpark after the show.

You want to avoid any parking lots that requires a U-turn to get out of the carpark because you'll surely be trapped in the post-show congestion.

If you can see, Mae and I are facing the way out. Just drive straight all the way and that's the exit towards ECP. So if you live in the East like us, this is the probably the perfect parking lot.

Where to have dinner

We chose to park at Kallang Leisure Park (KLP) to avoid the post-show traffic congestion and ate dinner there.

Turns out that KLP has many eateries. Level 1 has fast-food selections like Burger King, Subway, Long John Silver's (where we ate at) and more. Level 3 has a food court.

Mae was so happy to eat her favorite french fries. Not too much, Mae, or you'll get a sore throat.

Amilee wisely packed some homemade cheese and ham sandwiches for us. We ate some of them and left some to eat after the Disney On Ice show.

We left the un-eaten sandwiches and our own drinks in the car just in case they didn't allow them in during the security bag check prior to entering the event venue.

We had Long John Silver's for dinner. Check out Mae's cheeky

How to walk to Singapore Indoor Stadium?

There is a convenient escalator up and a linkway bridge connecting to Singapore Indoor Stadium, just a short walk away.

I carried Mae in the baby carrier in back-carry mode because I like having my hands free and in the event of a long queue, I wouldn't get too tired from carrying her (12.5kg) in my arms.

Mae really enjoys back carry because it's fun for her and probably reminds her of horse-riding. Guess who's the horse, haha. No prizes for getting it right!

Mae loves to rest in the back-carry baby carrier!

What type of tickets to get?

We received awesome complimentary VVIP section tickets from Touch PR and Events - thank you so much!

We were seated in row 4 from the stage -- so unbelievably close! We could clearly see the actors' faces!

There's no big screen that televises the performance all the time so I can't imagine the experience of those who sat way up high at the back. Probably only seeing little dots skating around.

For the best, worthwhile experience, get the VVIP and above tickets, if possible. It's worth it.

The highest ticket tier is the Magical Moments package which is S$225. Those seats are rinkside -- right next to the stage and you can almost stretch out your arms to touch the actors.

(Extracted from SportsHub website) Each Magical Moment Package will include:
- 1 Rinkside seat (1st row)
- Priority entrance access
- Crowd-free merchandise shopping opportunity (30 mins before general doors open)
- VIP lanyard & poster
- Post-Show Meet & Greet with a Star from the show
(Selection of Meet & greet character subject to Promoter’s discretion)

A few blessed children sitting in that area were chosen to participate in the show by sitting in a tea cup shaped cart during the Finding Dory segment, and in the Disney Princesses segment, two girls were chosen to sit on a pavement right by the ice-skating rink.

I can imagine that it's a very special way to celebrate a birthday, as a reward for good behavior, or just to treat your child to a special experience of a lifetime.

What merchandise to buy?

I can't really answer this one for you. It's really up to the preference of your children. Mae doesn't really know many Disney characters except for Elsa, Mickey, Minnie, and Winnie the Pooh.

I highly recommend buying a snack for your child though. Mae was pretty restless before the show and during the intermission -- wait, actually throughout the whole thing!

If it were not for the snacks, Mae would be running all around and we'd be frustratedly trying to stop her.

We purchased a box of popcorn for $8. The serving is generous, such that we couldn't finish it between the three of us.

Below is a gallery of photos I took of the merchandise that's available for purchase. See if anything catches your eye!

Cute Disney plushies, tshirts, towels

This sword is pretty cool. I like the design

The show itself

Important Note: If you have  a young child like Mae (3 years old), you should borrow a booster seat from them before you get seated.
They are available on a first-come-first-served basis and are limited in number. You can get them between 1 hour prior to show up to show time (7pm).

The booster seats are very slippery on the seats though, and since the seats spring back up if you're not seated on them, be careful when your kids sit on them.

Mae received a Maui Fishhook toy and it's actually really cool! It doesn't come with batteries though, so she could only play with its multiple light-up patterns after we got home.

Amilee and I's personal favorite segment is Princess Ariel's (Little Mermaid) short but incredible aerial (pun-intended) acrobatics.
It was dizzyingly-epic, and a nice "Part of Your World" medley boosted the excitement of it all.

Our second favorite is the Frozen "Let It Go" segment. Ah, so cliche and expected right? But there is a reason why that song is so popular!!
Actually all the Frozen songs were nice -- "Do You Want to Build a Snowman", "For the First Time in Forever", "Love is an Open Door" were great.

I'm hooked on this little cutie.

Post-show tips

We packed up and left the moment they announced that the show had ended. We walked straight towards our car and still there was some congestion in the carpark, but it could have been a lot worse if we chose a different parking lot.

Remember those sandwiches that we didn't finish? Mae and I chowed down on one while waiting for the traffic to clear up. Have a snack on hand because you'll probably need it.

By the time we left the carpark it was about 9.10pm so be prepared to get home late. Make proper arrangements for quick clean up and bedtime for kids.

I hope this post helps you to stay ahead of the crowd when you go for the show -- you can book your tickets here. Have a very enjoyable Disney On Ice experience!
