18 December 2016 - Hearing the Word of God Produces Life - Pastor Mark Ng Sermon Notes Online - New Creation Church Sermon Notes Online
China is receiving the gospel. Believers in China have a heart to bring the gospel back to Jerusalem.
Wherever the gospel goes, civilization is transformed.
Jesus is our only Way out of our troubles. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life.
Jesus' body was broken for us so that we may be whole. We partake of His body through the Holy Communion.
It is possible to have right believing in one area of our life and wrong believing in another area.
For example: A person can believe in healing but have the wrong mentality that God wants him/her to be poor.
To rest doesn't mean doing nothing. To rest means to listen and feed on God's word.
If you have a problem in your life, the best thing you can do is to feed on God's word.
When you have an encounter with the Lord Jesus, you will be totally transformed.
Christ Jesus is God's "yes" to humanity's need. Jesus was cursed so that we can be blessed.
I Corinthians 12:1 - The word "gifts" in the verse was added. It's not in the original.
God doesn't want us to be ignorant about the spiritual realm.
“Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant:” (I Corinthians 12:1 NKJV)
Born-again in Greek means "born from above". We must see ourselves in God's Son.
Colossians 1:14 - We must know that we have been transferred into Jesus' kingdom.
“He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,” (Colossians 1:13 NKJV)
Matthew 23:25-26 - We try to change our external habits to change ourselves, but it is more important to be changed inside first.
When our inside is changed, the outside will be changed too.
““Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you cleanse the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of extortion and self-indulgence. Blind Pharisee, first cleanse the inside of the cup and dish, that the outside of them may be clean also.” (Matthew 23:25-26 NKJV)
Romans 11:16 - If the root is holy, the branches will be holy too. If we are transformed inside, the outside will be transformed too.
“For if the firstfruit is holy, the lump is also holy; and if the root is holy, so are the branches.” (Romans 11:16 NKJV)
The Law causes people to be distant from each other, but grace has come to bring us closer.
Romans 7:18 - By our own strength, we find that we have the intention to do what is right but we don't have the ability to do it.
“For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find.” (Romans 7:18 NKJV)
Jeremiah 17:7-8 - We cannot change the bad fruits that we are producing in our lives except by being planted by the waters, which is the word of God.
We must keep on hearing the word of God. A spirit of fear is not from the Lord.
God has not given us a spirit of fear, but a spirit of love, of power and of a sound mind.
““Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, And whose hope is the LORD. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.” (Jeremiah 17:7-8 NKJV)
Jeremiah 23:4 - The nutrient for sin to grow big is condemnation. We cannot change ourselves. We can only be changed by listening and feeding on God's word.
“I will set up shepherds over them who will feed them; and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, nor shall they be lacking,” says the LORD.” (Jeremiah 23:4 NKJV)
Jeremiah 23:5-6 - We need to overcome the devil's accusations by declaring and knowing that the Lord is our righteousness.
We are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus!
““Behold, the days are coming,” says the LORD, “That I will raise to David a Branch of righteousness; A King shall reign and prosper, And execute judgment and righteousness in the earth. In His days Judah will be saved, And Israel will dwell safely; Now this is His name by which He will be called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.” (Jeremiah 23:5-6 NKJV)
When you keep on receiving the word of God, the outflow is life!
The Law kills the person together with the sin, leading to the sinful habit growing bigger and bigger.
Grace deals with the person and the sin separately, leading to the person successfully overcoming the sinful habit.
God condemns your sin to the cross.
The only way to overcome a bad temper is by receiving grace.
When you do wrong, don't demand forgiveness from your loved ones.
Your forgiveness must come from the cross first.
When you know that Jesus has paid for your sins at the cross, you become thankful.
When you're thankful, you enter into peace.
With that peace, you're able to take the initiative to apologise first and to seek the other person's forgiveness.
Hebrews 4:15 - Jesus understands how you feel. Come to Jesus at your point of weakness.
How can you have the power to overcome temptation if you do not come to Him?
“For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.” (Hebrews 4:15 NKJV)
John 16:33 - At the point of your lack, be of good cheer!
God has already seen your need before it happened and already provided a superabundant supply of what you need.
Jesus has already overcome everything for you at the cross.
“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”” (John 16:33 NKJV)
Our children can only see us, and through seeing us they can see the Lord.
Deuteronomy 28:2 - The Hebrew word for "obey" is "shamar" which means "to hear".
Our part is just to keep on hearing God's word, and all of God's blessings will come upon us and overtake us!
“And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the LORD your God:” (Deuteronomy 28:2 NKJV)
Grace mentality always separates the person from the sin.
Look at the cross and receive God's gift of righteousness and you will surely reign in life.
