20 Dec 2015 - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes Online - New Creation Church Sermon Notes Online (Christmas Service 2015) - The Saving Blood of Jesus!
Jesus is the Reason why we gather and celebrate Christmas!
Time feels like it's accelerating. We need to make our mark for Jesus while we still can.
Things are already bad in the world, but it will continue to get worse. Jesus said in the world you will have trouble.
The whole world's focus will be on Israel. The nation of Israel is testimony that God is alive!
Israel is surrounded by many enemies, but God has preserved it.
Jesus was born from two lineages of King David. He has a double-claim to the throne of David!
"Harpadzo" - a Greek word that means "a snatching away".
In the Jewish culture, the groom will decide a time to snatch the bride away to his home.
Jesus will come to snatch us away, to be with Him, during the Rapture.
Grace is something that the world cannot understand. The world thinks that Christianity is a religion where you have to climb to a level where you will be good enough to enter heaven.
No, Jesus came down to where we are and saved us.
When Jesus was born, one of His names is "Immanuel" which means "God with us".
Luke 2:7-11 - Mary was probably about 14-15 years old when pregnant with Jesus. She took a 75 mile journey to Bethlehem.
Mary had no help when giving birth except for Joseph.
It does not say that there was no room in the inn - it says that there was no room FOR THEM in the inn - there was no room for Jesus.
Man's heart rebelled against God even though God loves man.
“And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2:7-11 NKJV)
Jeremiah 41:17 - The inn belongs to the royal family of David, and therefore Jesus should rightfully be allowed to stay in the inn.
“And they departed and dwelt in the habitation of Chimham, which is near Bethlehem, as they went on their way to Egypt,” (Jeremiah 41:17 NKJV)
When God made man, He called man "blood man" - "Adam". Jesus had to have a body with blood in it.
Your spirit cannot die. It will be housed for eternity either in heaven or hell.
Hell was never made for man, but if you slap God's hand away and refuse His help, then you have chosen your destiny.
The reason God sent His Son is to save us.
When we look at prostitutes and drug peddlers, we think it's a big sin.
They are committing big sins. But in actual fact, one sin itself is enough to send us to hell.
All of us have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. If we are all sinners, then we all qualify to be saved by the Savior, Jesus!
Jesus who swaddled the earth, was swaddled as a Baby. He who upheld everything in the universe was upheld by Mary as a Baby.
Why the need for the virgin birth?
The serpent used to be upright in the Garden of Eden. But the serpent was cursed because it allowed itself to be possessed by the devil.
God cannot slap the devil's hands and ask him to stop tempting Adam and Eve. That would be infringing upon man's free choice.
Because of Adam's sin, the whole earth is fallen and all children born after that are born with sin in them.
Genesis 3:15 - God was prophesying the virgin birth - Women have no seed - men provide the seed.
“And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.”” (Genesis 3:15 NKJV)
If you follow God, He knows the beginning to the end. If you follow the devil, he knows nothing.
The devil just perverts whatever God has created.
God gives good things freely to us, but when the devil gives things to us, a big trap is always waiting for us.
Man always boasts of his own efforts.
Cain brought the produce of the land whereas Abel brought a lamb to be sacrificed.
Abel's offering was accepted and Cain's was rejected.
The devil thought that Abel would produce the Messiah, so he instigated Cain to kill Abel.
It is the first murder recorded in the Bible. The murder was over approach to God.
God asked Cain where his brother was, and Cain responded rudely "Am I my brother's keeper?", but God did not kill him or punish him for it.
We should be glad that our God is merciful!
God said that Abel's blood cries out to Him. Blood has a voice that speaks to God!
Even though Abel is dead, his blood cries out for vengeance - to be avenged of his adversary.
The blood of bulls and goats covers Israel's sins for one year, but the blood of Jesus covers our sins for all eternity!
Under the Old Covenant, when a sin offering is offered, the priest does not examine the offerer, he examines the lamb.
It is obvious that the offerer has sinned, that's why he's bringing the lamb as an offering.
The lamb must be spotless and free from blemish.
The offerer then lays his hands on the lamb, identifying with the lamb and the righteousness of the lamb is transferred to the offerer,
whereas the sins of the offerer are transferred to the lamb.
The lamb is then slain and the offerer walks away righteous.
Paul, a man of intelligence, said that Jesus knew no sin.
Peter, a man of action, said that Jesus did no sin.
John, a man of the heart, said that in Jesus was no sin.
Jesus' enemies could not find anything to accuse Him with.
The only sin that Jesus' enemies could try to condemn Him with was the sin of blasphemy because they did not believe that He is God.
The supply that God provides is always greater than our need.
Exodus 12:7 - The placement of the blood on the doorposts and on the lintel symbolizes the cross where Jesus gave His life for us.
“And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it.” (Exodus 12:7 NKJV)
Exodus 12:13 - God did not say that He would pass over you if you were a good person or had a good family name.
He said that He will pass over you if He saw the blood.
The blood represents the blood of Jesus.
“Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.” (Exodus 12:13 NKJV)
The blood of the placenta does not get transferred to the fetus in the womb. Jesus did not receive Mary's blood which had sin in it.
Don't worship Mary. The angel of the Lord said that Mary is highly favored among women, not ABOVE women.
She had sinful blood too, and she needed Jesus to be her Lord and Savior as well.
The manger that Jesus was placed in after He was born showed that He was born to die.
During Jesus' time, the deceased were placed in a stone coffin.
I Peter 1:18-20 - We are redeemed by the precious blood of Christ!
“knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you” (I Peter 1:18-20 NKJV)
At thirty years of age, Jesus was proclaimed by John by the River Jordan to be the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world!
Leviticus 17:11 - It is the blood of Jesus that makes atonement for our souls.
“For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.’” (Leviticus 17:11 NKJV)
Leviticus 17:14 - The life of all flesh is in the blood.
“for it is the life of all flesh. Its blood sustains its life. Therefore I said to the children of Israel, ‘You shall not eat the blood of any flesh, for the life of all flesh is its blood. Whoever eats it shall be cut off.’” (Leviticus 17:14 NKJV)
God came in Christ and He dwelled among us.
During Jesus' time, when a child was born in Israel, they had to bring a burnt offering.
The very rich would bring a bullock, the rich would bring a lamb.
Joseph and Mary brought a pair of doves, showing that they were poor.
However, they did not remain poor because they received the valuable gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh from the three wise men.
The mercy seat of the Ark of the Covenant had its name because it covered the three items in the ark -
the golden pot of manna, the rod of Aaron, and the two tablets of the Ten Commandments.
The children of Israel complained about the manna, they complained about Aaron when he was chosen by God to be their priest,
and the Ten Commandments represents all of mankind - they boast that they can keep God's laws.
Under the Law, on the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur), blood would be sprinkled on the mercy seat to cover Israel's sins for a year.
There is only one thing that God's holy eyes cannot see through - the blood of Jesus Christ - God cannot see man's rebellion and sins through the blood of Jesus.
The Law was given by Moses, but Grace and Truth came by Jesus Christ.
We should not boast in our ability to keep the Law, but to boast in the grace of God.
The first miracle of Moses was to turn water into blood, leading to death.
The first miracle of Jesus was to turn water into wine, leading to celebration.
Jesus came to fulfill the Law!
When Jesus healed the leper, the leper did not expect to be touched, but the Lord Jesus touched him.
Under the Law, the unclean would make the clean, unclean.
Under grace, the clean makes the unclean, clean!
John 19:19-22 - The chief priests of the Jews did not like that Jesus made God accessible to the common people -
Jesus unstopped deaf ears, opened the eyes of the blind and healed the sick.
The chief priests enjoyed being the middlemen who collected all the tithes and had the power.
The acrostic of the writing on the title spelt "Yud Hei Vav Hei (YHVH)", the name of God. YHVH represents "The hand of grace nailed in grace".
"“Now Pilate wrote a title and put it on the cross. And the writing was: JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS. Then many of the Jews read this title, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city; and it was written in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin. Therefore the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, “Do not write, ‘The King of the Jews,’ but, ‘He said, “I am the King of the Jews.” ’ ” Pilate answered, “What I have written, I have written.”” (John 19:19-22 NKJV)
The hatred that the world has against Israel is supernatural.
Romans 5:9 - We are justified by Jesus' blood.
“Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.” (Romans 5:9 NKJV)
When you put your trust in Christ, it's like laying your hands on a pure lamb - a divine transfer takes place -
you get all the righteousness, blessings, favor and acceptance that Jesus deserves, and Jesus becomes liable for all your sins.
