​18 August 2019 - What to Do In Your Night Seasons - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Sermon Notes

Pastors and leaders are very special to God. Pray for them.
The devil aims to smite the shepherds so that their sheep will scatter.
Jesus has paid for congregations to be held together.

Jesus holds the seven stars in His hand. The stars represents the pastors of the churches.

Revelation 22:5 - On this side of Heaven, there are still night seasons. Everyone will go through it. But in eternity, there will be no more night.

“There will be no night, and they need no lamp light; for the Lord God will illuminate them. They will reign forever and ever.” ‭‭(Revelation‬ ‭22:5‬ ‭WEB‬)

Psalms 16:7 - Sometimes we are the cause of our own night seasons. Other times, it’s caused by the devil.
In eternity there will be no more night seasons because there is no more devil.
After a great victory, don’t let your guard down. Fill yourself up again with God’s word.
Pastors empty themselves to their congregations when they preach their hearts out.
They need Jesus to feed and fill them up again.
When you can’t sleep at night, meditate on God’s word.

“I will bless Yahweh, who has given me counsel. Yes, my heart instructs me in the night seasons.” ‭‭(Psalms‬ ‭16:7‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Psalm 30:5 - Weeping only stays for the night (a short while), but joy (can represent Jesus) comes to you in the morning.

“For his anger is but for a moment. His favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may stay for the night, but joy comes in the morning.” ‭‭(Psalms‬ ‭30:5‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

We are yoked with Jesus—His yoke is easy. Jesus is like an older and more experienced ox.
Follow what Jesus does. Flow with His leading.
If you procrastinate, you’ll find that the moment is over—when you obey late, you’ll find that it’s not as impactful than if you had promptly obeyed.

Put Bibles (you can purchase some online) everywhere at home. When you feel prompted to pick it up, do it and you’ll notice that God’s word will jump out at you.
It's good to have physical Bibles aside from the Bible apps in your smartphone.

Everyone goes through night seasons when everything seems dark and depressing. Even though the devil is roaring loudly at you, God is also actively working to turnaround everything for your good. There is supernatural light available to you. As you rest in Jesus and just keep receiving from His loving hands, you'll emerge in due time with rich honey to bless others as well!

God is actively working to deliver you in your night seasons—there is supernatural light in the midst of the darkness

Genesis 15:1 - God is a shield to us that covers us all around.
The word “reward” here means salary.
Abram was having a mountaintop experience—he had just conquered kings and rescued his nephew Lot.
He was probably afraid of retaliation from the kings.
When you feel afraid, see yourself covered all around by a shield.
Jesus is your very very great reward.
After this, God brought Abram outside to number the stars. The stars seem so bright and noticeable in your night seasons.
The ancients knew that the constellations told a story. It begins with Virgo (the virgin) and ends with Leo (the lion). The New Testament begins with the virgin giving birth to Jesus and ends with Jesus coming back as the conquering Lion of Judah. 
That’s not astrology by the way—our hope is in the One who created the stars.
If you don’t want a scope of horror, then don’t depend on horoscopes—those are demonic.
That's the first account of someone being justified by faith in the Bible. Abram  was justified because he believed in the Gospel, not because he was good at counting the number of stars in the sky!
Sometimes to get you out of your narrow obsession with your problems, God needs to enlarge your perspective.

“After these things Yahweh’s word came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Don’t be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.”” ‭‭(Genesis‬ ‭15:1‬ ‭WEB‬)

There are 7 night scenes in the Gospel of John:
The first one was Nicodemus coming to Jesus by night. It's not good enough to be religious or come from a Christian family background. In order to be saved, you have to personally believe in Jesus and become born-again.
The fifth one was Judas went out to betray Jesus and it was night. Whenever you turn your back on Jesus, it will be your night season.

Exodus 10:23 - Three days represents resurrection.
When the world is experiencing darkness, God will make sure that you’re still enjoying light.
The Egyptians couldn’t even light a lamp—the darkness was a supernatural darkness.
Therefore the light in the children of Israel’s dwellings was also supernatural light.
The light is there to help you. Even demonic spirits can see it.
Walking in the light is a realm for believers—it is not a performance-based thing. You are always in the light, even when you fail.
When you fail, the blood of Jesus cleanses you and keeps you in the light.
Unbelievers are still in darkness.
1 John 1 is dealing with believers versus unbelievers.
Sinners say that they have no sin. Believers admit that they are sinners and need a Savior.
In the night seasons, the devil is active and his accusations sound louder, but God is even more eager to turn everything around for your good.

“They didn’t see one another, and nobody rose from his place for three days; but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.” ‭‭(Exodus‬ ‭10:23‬ ‭WEB‬)

Daniel 6:23 For his obedience to God, Daniel was thrown into a den filled with hungry powerful lions.
These were fierce lions and not little kitty cats because later when the conniving satraps and their family members were thrown in, they were torn to pieces before they even reached the bottom of the den.
Even men of God have night seasons of terror.
Sometimes you do right and you still find yourself in the lion’s den.
Daniel was thrown in because King Darius's law couldn't be changed. The king loved Daniel, but was powerless against the law. 
When you’re in the lion’s den, all you need to do is believe in Jesus and you’ll come out unharmed.

“Then was the king exceeding glad, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no kind of harm was found on him, because he had trusted in his God.” ‭‭(Daniel‬ ‭6:23‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Acts 5:19-20 - Demons are active at night. It seems that God’s angels are also very active at night—this is true in both Old and New Testament.

“But an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors by night, and brought them out, and said, “Go stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.”” ‭‭(Acts‬ ‭5:19-20‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Genesis 28:12 - At night, in his dream, Jacob saw angels ascending and descending on a ladder.

“He dreamed. Behold, a stairway set upon the earth, and its top reached to heaven. Behold, the angels of God ascending and descending on it.” ‭‭(Genesis‬ ‭28:12‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

John 1:51 - The ladder represents Jesus. He is the fulfillment of Jacob’s dream at Bethel.
You have something better than Jacob did because you have Jesus.

“He said to him, “Most certainly, I tell you, hereafter you will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”” ‭‭(John‬ ‭1:51‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

After Solomon offered God a thousand burnt offerings, that very night, God visited him in a dream.
Solomon asked God for wisdom and he received it from God in the dream.

Rest in Jesus and He will show up for you in your night seasons

​Psalm 127:2 - This psalm was written by Solomon.
If you are rising up early and sitting up late because of worry, then it’s empty and it won’t accomplish anything. Your problem will still be there.
Many times, God wants to prosper your soul first before prospering your outward things.
The words “loved ones” come from the Hebrew word “yadid” which means beloved.
The name David means beloved. It takes someone who knows he’s beloved to knock down a Goliath.
The name that God gave Solomon is Jedidiah which means beloved of the Lord.
God gives His beloved sleep and even gives to them when they are sleeping.
God can move even more when man is not moving.
Man is so proud that the easiest time for God to speak to him is in his sleep.

“It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil; for he gives sleep to his loved ones.” ‭‭(Psalms‬ ‭127:2‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

When Adam was sleeping, the greatest and crowning achievement of God came forth—the woman.
The word woman in Hebrew is “ishah”. Man is “ish”. Woman has an extra “hei”.
Woman came to bring Grace to the man.
If you have a problem with your wife, go to sleep. God can change things when you rest in Him.

Out of your night seasons will come riches for others—honey from a hard place. Your experiences will become powerful lessons and testimonies to benefit others.

2 Kings 19:35 - The King of Assyria Sennacherib conquered Lachish, but he couldn’t take Jerusalem. In the British Museum you can find pieces of murals from Sennacherib's palace, depicting Assyria's victory over Lachish. There are even carvings of Jews being tortured by the Assyrians.
King Hezekiah spread the letter of threatening before the Lord and prayed for help.
The Angel of the Lord killed 185,000 Assyrian soldiers in the night and delivered Jerusalem while the people were sleeping.
When you rest in Him in your night season, you’ll find all your enemies defeated.

“That night, Yahweh’s angel went out, and struck one hundred eighty-five thousand in the camp of the Assyrians. When men arose early in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies.” ‭‭(2 Kings‬ ‭19:35‬ ‭WEB‬)

You don’t have to be afraid of the terror by night for God gives His angels charge over you.

If a guy is attracted to you and starts wooing you, don’t end up turning around and chasing him instead—you’re attractive because you’re a chase-able single lady.

Matthew 14:25-27 - Jesus sent the multitudes away and went up to Mount Arbel Himself.
As He was up there, He looked down and saw His disciples struggling in the Sea of Galilee because the wind was contrary to them.
Demons are wind-like spirits. No matter how they attack you, Jesus is watching.
Jesus came down the mountain and walked on water to the disciples who were in the middle of the lake.
In Jewish custom, there are four watches in the night. The fourth watch of the night is the darkest time of the night.
In the darkest time of your life, Jesus will come to you in a way you never expected.
Sometimes when victory comes to you in your night season, you may feel afraid because it doesn’t come in a form that you’re used to—but it is still victory.
Jesus came walking on the very thing that the disciples were afraid of—He is above your problems.
There are seasons whereby the Lord personally comes to you or by an angel, more than anytime before.
Jesus said in Hebrew “ani-hu” which is “I AM”—the name of God.

“In the fourth watch of the night, Jesus came to them, walking on the sea. When the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It’s a ghost!” and they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Cheer up! It is I! Don’t be afraid.”” ‭‭(Matthew‬ ‭14:25-27‬ ‭WEB‬)
