Why we love Pororo Park Singapore

You may be wondering, why bring my little one to an indoor playground when I can just go to an outdoor playground for free?

Well in my opinion, the only obvious benefit of those free outdoor playgrounds is that it is free.

However there are many good benefits that your little ones are missing out on when you only bring them to outdoor playgrounds and not indoor playgrounds.

After trying many indoor playgrounds in Singapore, Amilee and I still prefer to bring our 2 year old daughter Maeleth to Pororo Park Singapore in Marina Square.

This is the full address:
6 Raffles Blvd, 02-29, Singapore 039594. You can visit their official website here.

Being a super fan of the Pororo animated series by Iconix, Mae regularly requests to go back to Pororo Park, and there are many great reasons to bring her there.

Maeleth is a true Pororo fan! She loves watching the Pororo animated series, playing with Pororo toys, and wearing Pororo-inspired clothing!

Themed Experience

At Pororo Park Singapore, your little one will be treated to a Pororo-themed experience and be delighted to see his or her familiar and favorite characters and locations in the indoor playground!

Your child will enjoy his or her time there much more in contrast to just playing at an outdoor playground with no recognizable characters.

Fun

Our favorite feature of Pororo Park Singapore is the Pororo train ride!
Your little one can sit in a carriage and take a short trip around a snowy mountainous landscape.

Along the way, at every turn, he or she will see life-sized models of the adorable characters from the Pororo animated series.

Mae can ride the train repeatedly and not get bored.
It’s also safe because the kids are strapped in place by a seat belt, and there are two staff - one in front and one behind - following the train as it makes its way around the course.

Holistic Learning

Fellow parents, besides the obvious playing to burn off the abundant energy of our kids, there are also various activities at Pororo Park Singapore that you can never find at free outdoor playgrounds.

Firstly, there are daily live performance shows in the indoor playground in “Tong Tong’s Little Theater”.
The kids get to enjoy storytelling and dancing to tunes from the cartoon with their favorite mascots from Pororo.
The audience participation segments also make the shows more engaging and immersive for the children!

Pororo Park Singapore also holds different seasonal workshops for kids to learn different forms of Arts and Crafts.

During Halloween season last year, they had a trick or treat bag decoration workshop.

During Christmas season last year, they had a gift exchange program.

Recently when we visited the indoor playground, we brought Mae for a Ice Cream Workshop there where she was able to participate in the process of making her own strawberry ice cream.
She chose her own ingredient, chopped up her strawberries, and personalized her own toppings. It was fun and delicious!

Comfort

Rather than possibly sitting on a bench under the hot sun, perspiring, with no food or drinks around, wouldn’t it be better to chill at a cafe while your little one plays?

This is more applicable for parents with older kids. I would never leave Mae alone to play while I relax at a cafe. It’s too risky at her age.

At “Loopy’s Cafe” in the indoor playground, you can order food and drinks, while seated comfortably in an air-conditioned environment.
It’s a great place to have your meal or feed your little one.

Enjoy Curated Desserts

If you and your little one both have a sweet tooth, you will love the pretty Pororo-themed desserts made by “Little House of Dreams” bakery in the indoor playground.

Whether it’s to celebrate a special occasion or just to satisfy a sweet craving, you’re bound to find a treat that does exactly that!

Check out some of the beautiful selections available:

Minimize risk of sun-related problems

Playing at a free outdoor playground can be harmful because of the prolonged sun exposure.

If you and your child don’t apply sunblock, the UV rays will cause skin damage, which includes skin diseases and premature aging.

On a really hot day, dehydration can set in quickly too after lots of running around and playing, and even lead to more serious issues like heat stroke.

For young children, it’s best to keep them cool and comfortable while they play.

Pororo Park Singapore is fully air-conditioned. It’s a cozy playing environment where they can play wildly and not be subjected to sun damage.

Designated play areas for different age groups

This is something that free outdoor playgrounds try to incorporate by having a signboard but the rules are almost never followed, and they are never enforced.

Sometimes we see teenagers, adults and older kids hanging out or playing in areas meant for babies and toddlers.

If you are in the mood, you may try to politely ask them to leave, but if they refuse, who else is going to make sure that they follow the playground rules?

Won’t it be worse if it turns into an argument and unnecessary unpleasant confrontation? That’s not good for your child to witness.

At Pororo Park Singapore, there is a babies play area and areas for older kids.
If someone is breaking the playground rules, you can just inform a staff member, and let them handle the enforcement. Isn’t that much more relaxing and assuring?

We find it so dangerous when older kids are running around crazily in the outdoor playgrounds when Mae is playing there.

There is never a moment of peace because we need to flank her and protect her from being trampled on by them.
Yes it’s free to play there but there’s no peace of mind.

Safety

One thing about free outdoor playgrounds is that there is no security.
If you don’t watch your child vigilantly like a hawk, a stranger can easily kidnap your little one when you least expect it.

If the assailant runs away while carrying your child and covering his or her mouth which makes screaming impossible, it will be hard to track them down, especially if some time has passed.

At Pororo Park, all guests have to register before entering the indoor playground, and you can’t just leave silently.

There is a magnetically-controlled gate that only the counter staff can operate.
If a kidnapper is trying to grab your child away, don’t you think the staff will be able to see the child’s signs of distress and stand a higher chance of saving him or her from the evil person?

Besides that, there are surveillance cameras in the indoor playground to help you identify the kidnapper if (touch wood) it really happens.
At least with the knowledge of who took the child, you can be empowered to do something about it.

Cleanliness

I don’t know how often free outdoor playgrounds are cleaned. I have seen playgrounds near where we stay that have all sorts of food junk thrown all over.

Once I saw a melted chocolate puddle with insect swarms eating it.
It was gross and definitely not a place for children to play safely.

Outdoor playgrounds are exposed to the elements - rain, smoke, animal feces, dust, and even rubbish apparently.
Are you sure you want your child to constantly play in a dirty environment like that which is filled with germs?

At least in an indoor playground like Pororo Park Singapore, they state how often they clean their toys and equipments.
It’s so important to keep them clean so that it minimizes the risk of children falling sick.

For example, if a child who is sick plays with a toy and his or her mucus comes into contact with it, the next child who plays with that same toy may catch the sickness.
Regular cleaning lowers the chances of this kind of scenario from happening.

Openness to Feedback

Once I posted on my Instagram account about how I was disappointed in the sandwiches sold at Loopy’s Cafe in the indoor playground because they did not live up to the standard as set by the animated series.

Loopy’s sandwiches are supposed to be her signature dish and must taste heavenly.
At least that’s what the characters in the show portray it to be.

The team at Pororo Park Singapore did not try to defend themselves or make excuses, but unbeknownst to me, they took my suggestion and are in the process of innovating a new sandwich dish inspired by Loopy’s Sandwiches that is as accurate as possible to the show’s. It should even look the same!

It’s a sign of humility and wisdom when someone is willing to take constructive criticism so graciously.

I really appreciate the team at Pororo Park Singapore for that and know that if they continue to be open to implementing good customer feedback for improvements, they will grow from strength to strength.

I believe that at Pororo Park Singapore, you can rest assured that your voice matters and your feedback is heard.

@maelethsarah loves everything from the show “Pororo the Little Penguin” so naturally she enjoys going to Pororo Park in Singapore! However as I also watch the shows together with Mae, I was slightly disappointed that the sandwiches sold at Loopy’s Cafe inside the indoor playground didn’t look like the ones Loopy makes in the show. The sandwiches also don’t taste great - the bread is too powdery (because of the flour on top of the bread) and that makes the sandwich taste very bland as a whole. I feel that such a signature dish that all the characters praise so highly in the show should be done to perfection so as to live up to the show’s standards! For example, how Butterbeer sold at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is delicious so many people have a memorable experience at the theme park and post raving reviews about it on social media. □ • Another thing that could be improved is that the interior of Pororo house at Pororo Park doesn’t look like Pororo’s house in the show. Kids and adults who love the show will recognize instantly that the layout and objects are not accurate. Hopefully these suggestions for improvement can be implemented so as to create a better visitor experience for fans of the show! □ • On a positive note, the train ride in Pororo Park is simply wonderful! Mae loves riding it and can go repeatedly without getting bored! That is definitely one huge plus point that sets this indoor playground apart! □ • • • • • #pororo #pororopark #pororoparksg #maeleth #maelethsarah #sgparents #sgparent #sgmum #sgmums #sgmom #sgmummy #sgbaby #sgtoddler #sgkid #sgkids #our_everyday_moments #rememberingthesedays #cutekidsofinstagram #capturingtheday #capturingchildhood #kidswillbekids #instakids #instatoddler #cuteangels #cutekids #capturingchildhood #dontforgetdads #loopy #themagicineveryday #miltongohblog

Able to continue the learning-through-play at home

Pororo Park Singapore has an awesome store that sells official Pororo toys and merchandise.

Our favorite toy sold there has to be the “Little Future Book Pororo Pen”. It’s a fun and education reading pen toy!

Mae was so excited to open and set up her
Mae was so excited to open and set up her "Little Future Book Pororo Pen"!

Following the storyline of finding Crong the little dinosaur, Pororo and his friends look all over the place for him and in the process your child can learn lots of useful everyday vocabulary as he or she searches for Crong. That's the first book.

In the second book, Pororo goes to kindergarten and the reader gets to accompany Pororo in class and learn many new words, how to count, tell the time, and more!

It’s so fun that I am even playing the toy myself - am I weird? Haha!

Check out the video review we made of the "Little Future Book Pororo Pen (English)" in action below:

For the English-speaking version of this toy as seen in our video, you can purchase it at Pororo Park Singapore.

If you prefer the Korean-speaking version of this toy, you can purchase it at the link below:

I believe that we learn best when we are enjoying ourselves so if your little one loves Pororo, he or she will probably learn well when playing with this toy!

We also like the Pororo and friends bath toys that we use to keep Mae distracted while we are showering her.
Isn’t it so much easier to bathe your child when he or she isn’t moving here and there in the shower?
Keep a Pororo lover in the same spot by giving him or her the bath toys only during shower time!

The Pororo bath toys can even double up as birthday cake toppers which is exactly what we did for Mae's 2nd birthday, haha!

Personally I love Pororo the best after watching Running Man, as they always feature Haha as Pororo. That was when Pororo caught my attention. Soon after, Pororo's themed park entered Singapore, and I brought my little ones to catch this cute, round and bubbly penguin during a performance at Marina Square during Christmas. He was then very impressed by Poby, who had great strength in assisting his friends to move the sleigh during the show. From then on, he went to find out more about who Poby is and became very interested in polar bears and their habitats. His favourite animals since then have been penguins and polar bears which I believe to be influenced by Pororo and Poby. Never knew the power of adorable characters that can lead a child's interest to real world's animals as represented by them!

My 3yo loves Pororo. It started when we visited Korean when she was 22months old. Phoenix ski resort has a children playground with more than 10 Pororo figurines & she kept hugging the figurines. In Seoul, most restaurants provided Pororo utensils & gifts for kids. Since the trip to Korea, Pororo has been her favourite.

My favourite character is definitely Pororo! And my boy too! He only went once to Pororo park in march this year. But he still remembered until now! We were there from 2pm until almost 7pm. Had dinner there as well. Really hope to bring my boy there again as the first time we went, the train was down for maintenance.

Pororo is really loved by most little children. I came to know Pororo in Korean kids because they really like the show. I think many parents are grateful for Pororo because Pororo always makes those cute little children smile.
