7 May 2023 - Clothed With Power From God - New Creation Church Sermon Notes - Pastor Lawrence Lim7/5/2023 7 May 2023 - Clothed With Power From God - New Creation Church Sermon Notes - Pastor Lawrence LimNew Sermon Notes: Pastor Lawrence preached a powerful message about spiritual warfare, emphasizing the importance of putting on the whole armor of God, especially through believing the Gospel and praying in tongues. Praise and worship songs performed: 1. Rain Upon My Life - New Creation Worship 2. Majesty - New Spring 3. Holy Forever - Chris Tomlin 4. No Other Name - Hillsong Music 5. Worthy Of It All - David Brymer There will be a great end-time revival. Many souls will be saved. God wants to heal your mind in 2023. Isaiah 59:14-17 - We still live on a fallen earth. Sometimes untimely events happen, even premature death. This is not God’s will, but sometimes things like that happen and it hurts. We have the strong consolation that our departed loved ones in Christ are with Jesus. It is not a loss but a win for them either way. “Justice is turned away backward, and righteousness stands far away; for truth has fallen in the street, and uprightness can’t enter. Yes, truth is lacking; and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey. Yahweh saw it, and it displeased him that there was no justice. He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor. Therefore his own arm brought salvation to him; and his righteousness sustained him. He put on righteousness as a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation on his head. He put on garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a mantle.” (Isaiah 59:14-17 WEBUS) Ephesians 6:10-13 - When you put on the armor of God, you look like God and strike fear into the hearts of your spiritual enemies. God wants you to wear His armor because there is spiritual warfare. Make sure you put on the whole armor and don’t miss out on any pieces. “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” (Ephesians 6:10-13 WEBUS) Ephesians 6:14-20 - You put on the armor of God by believing. It is about faith. Salvation is what Jesus did for us, to deliver us from sin’s penalty and power. The “word of God” here is referring to “rhema” (what God is currently saying), not “logos” (the word of God that has been revealed). When you pray in tongues (praying in the Spirit), the enemy trembles in fear because it is how you activate the sword of the Spirit. “Stand therefore, having the utility belt of truth buckled around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having fitted your feet with the preparation of the Good News of peace, above all, taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; with all prayer and requests, praying at all times in the Spirit, and being watchful to this end in all perseverance and requests for all the saints. Pray for me, that utterance may be given to me in opening my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the Good News, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.” (Ephesians 6:14-20 WEBUS)

2 April 2023 - Unpacking The Passion Of Christ - New Creation Church Sermon Notes - Pastor Lawrence LimNew Sermon Notes: Pastor Lawrence Lim expounded on the sufferings and death of Jesus Christ and how it affects us as believers in Him. This Gospel message is important for us to understand the finished work of Christ at the cross! Praise and worship songs performed: (I missed the songs before this)
Exodus 32:3 - In this verse we find “Aleph Tav”. It is the divine signature of Jesus Christ. In the Book of Revelation, He calls Himself “The first and the last”. Aleph is the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet and Tav is the last letter. The golden rings in the ears represent hearing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Gospel is meant to be received by hearing it. Every time you hear the Gospel preached, something good happens to you. “All the people took off the golden rings which were in their ears, and brought them to Aaron.” (Exodus 32:3 WEBUS) The anointing of God is primarily for you to preach the Gospel and to heal the broken-hearted and sick. To know the will of God, we look at Jesus and what He did and said. Romans 1:16-17 - We receive the power of God by hearing the Gospel of Christ, not by doing with our hands. “For I am not ashamed of the Good News of Christ, because it is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first, and also for the Greek. For in it is revealed God’s righteousness from faith to faith. As it is written, “But the righteous shall live by faith.”” (Romans 1:16-17 WEBUS) God’s word is life and health to all your flesh. The “Passion” refers to the sufferings and death of our Lord Jesus Christ. There is nothing you can do to make God love you more. To suggest that means you’re saying that God held back in loving you. No, He loves us to the uttermost, and He will never love us less. Luke 22:44 - Just the anticipation of becoming sin at the cross caused Jesus to sweat blood. Doctors call this condition “hematidrosis”: when one is under extreme stress, the blood capillaries burst and intermingles with perspiration. Jesus sweat blood to redeem us from the curse of sweat that was pronounced upon man in the Garden of Eden. His sweat also dripped onto the ground that was cursed as well. Thanks to Jesus’ blood, blessings come easy to us and wherever we walk is favored ground. “Being in agony, he prayed more earnestly. His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down on the ground.” (Luke 22:44 WEBUS) Jesus said “I AM” and the temple guards who came to arrest Him in the Garden of Gethsemane fell back to the ground. Jesus was not captured because He was helpless. He willingly gave up His life for us. In the midst of the chaos, Peter severed Malchus’ ear. Jesus who is always full of peace, picked up the severed ear and restored the ear to Malchus, healing him. He healed a person who wanted Him dead. Jesus lived by His words of “love your enemies”. Let go of grudges and forgive those who have hurt you, just as God has forgiven you in Christ. At supper on the night of Passover, Jesus already knew that Judas was going to betray Him, and yet He still washed Jesus’ feet. Back then, washing a person’s feet was the job of the lowliest servants. It was an act of love that Jesus did. Don’t punish yourself and live in condemnation. God loves you and has forgiven you. It is a new beginning today. God’s compassions fail not. Peter boasted that even if all the disciples forsook Jesus, he wouldn’t. Jesus told him that before the rooster crowed, Peter would betray Him three times. Peter denied Jesus with cursing and swearing, and when the rooster crowed, Jesus turned to look at Peter with eyes of love. That is why Peter cried. Even if you have failed, God can still use you. Peter denied Jesus three times and yet Jesus restored him to the ministry of apostleship. Peter was used to preach to multitudes on the Day of Pentecost and three thousand souls were saved. 20 March 2022 - Washed By The Love Of Christ - New Creation Church Sermon Notes - Pastor Lawrence Lim Sermon NotesNew Sermon Notes: Pastor Lawrence Lim preached about two significant incidents of washing feet in the New Testament. When we see God’s great love revealed, we can also extend love and forgiveness to the people in our lives! Praise and Worship Song Performed: 1. Peace Be Still - The Belonging Co feat. Lauren Daigle 2. Fall Afresh On Me - New Creation Worship 3. You Alone - Don Harris 4. Goodness Of God - Bethel Music Romans 8:37 - We will receive our breakthrough through Christ who loves us. “No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” (Romans 8:37 WEB) Luke 7:36 - Jesus was gracious even to the Pharisee by accepting the invitation to dine at his house. He honored and loved Simon the Pharisee, despite all the faults and hypocrisies of the Pharisees. “One of the Pharisees invited him to eat with him. He entered into the Pharisee’s house, and sat at the table.” (Luke 7:36 WEB) Luke 7:37-38 - The woman is believed to be a harlot. The flask of oil was very costly, about a year’s worth of wages. The woman ignored all the condemning looks and stares of all the self-righteous people around. She only wanted to focus on the one who loved and forgave her of her sins. The Jews considered the feet dirty because the feet come in contact with filth on the ground. The washing of feet was reserved as the lowest task for the lowliest servant. The woman expressed such extravagant love because she had first received such extravagant love through Jesus Christ. “Behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that he was reclining in the Pharisee’s house, she brought an alabaster jar of ointment. Standing behind at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears, and she wiped them with the hair of her head, kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.” (Luke 7:37-38 WEB) Mark 1:7 - John the Baptist spoke so highly of the Lord Jesus. “He preached, saying, “After me comes he who is mightier than I, the thong of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and loosen.” (Mark 1:7 WEB) Luke 7:39-50 - Simon did not honored Jesus as a guest but the woman honored Jesus exceedingly. The Jews knew that only God can forgive sins. Jesus was implying that He is the God who forgives sins. “Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he said to himself, “This man, if he were a prophet, would have perceived who and what kind of woman this is who touches him, that she is a sinner.” Jesus answered him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.” He said, “Teacher, say on.” “A certain lender had two debtors. The one owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. When they couldn’t pay, he forgave them both. Which of them therefore will love him most?” Simon answered, “He, I suppose, to whom he forgave the most.” He said to him, “You have judged correctly.” Turning to the woman, he said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered into your house, and you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head. You gave me no kiss, but she, since the time I came in, has not ceased to kiss my feet. You didn’t anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with ointment. Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.” He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” Those who sat at the table with him began to say to themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?” He said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.”” (Luke 7:39-50 WEB) 26 December 2021 - Praise Our Good God - New Creation Church Sermon Notes - Pastor Lawrence Lim26/12/2021 26 December 2021 - Praise Our Good God - New Creation Church Sermon Notes - Pastor Lawrence LimNew Sermon Notes: Pastor Lawrence Lim taught about a unique phrase used to praise the Lord. Every time Israel used this phrase, good things happened for them and they were strengthened. Praise and Worship Song Performed: 1. How Great Is Our God - Michael W. Smith 2. You Alone I Praise - New Creation Worship 3. Blessed Assurance - Fanny Jane Crosby Prophetic word: You will only see an increase of favor, provision, health, etc. in your life. God is a God of increase. Your path will shine brighter and brighter in Jesus’ name. Psalm 33:1 - You look especially beautiful to God when you praise. “Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous! For praise from the upright is beautiful.” (Psalms 33:1 NKJV) Psalm 147:1 - Your praises are pleasant to God. “Praise Yah, for it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant and fitting to praise him.” (Psalms 147:1 WEB) Matthew 21:12-16 - When the house of God (the church) is a house of prayer, healing miracles will happen. Prayer does not make you fit for the greater work—prayer is the greater work. The chief priests and scribes were envious because the children were declaring that Jesus is the Messiah. “Jesus entered into the temple of God, and drove out all of those who sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the money changers’ tables and the seats of those who sold the doves. He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a den of robbers!” The blind and the lame came to him in the temple, and he healed them. But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children who were crying in the temple and saying, “Hosanna to the son of David!” they were indignant, and said to him, “Do you hear what these are saying?” Jesus said to them, “Yes. Did you never read, ‘Out of the mouth of babes and nursing babies you have perfected praise?’”” (Matthew 21:12-16 WEB) Psalm 8:2 - This is the verse that Jesus quoted from. However, here it says “established strength” instead of “perfected praise”. Praise causes you to be strengthened. Whatever your challenge may be, just praise the Lord. Something good happens when you praise the Lord. When you praise Him, you will silence the enemy and the avenger. “From the lips of babes and infants you have established strength, because of your adversaries, that you might silence the enemy and the avenger.” (Psalms 8:2 WEB) 4 July 2021 - Know the Father’s Love - New Creation Church Sermon Notes - Pastor Lawrence Lim Sermon NotesPastor Lawrence Lim unveiled a good God to us, showing the lavish love of the Father whom we can call “Abba”. When you know the love of Abba God, you will experience His protection, provision, healing, and receive the help and breakthroughs that you need! Praise and Worship Songs Performed: 1. Beautiful Savior - Henry Seeley 2. Stronger - New Creation Worship 3. There is None Like You - Lenny LeBlanc Mark 5:25-33 - The woman was unfruitful for twelve years and she tried her best in natural means to fix her problem. She was in a helpless and hopeless situation. The woman heard about Jesus. What she heard about Jesus gripped her heart and caused her to have hope. She must have heard good things about Jesus, about how He was going around healing people. When she heard about Him, faith arose in her heart. Many people there touched Jesus but did not get healed. The woman was healed after touching Him because she had faith to be healed. Now is the time of salvation. Today is a great today for your miracle. God is willing to heal you. Faith in Jesus caused Him (the omnipotent God) to stop in His tracks. Reach out and touch Jesus—you will receive your miracle. The woman feared and trembled from experiencing God’s goodness. She was in awe of the miracle. “A certain woman, who had an issue of blood for twelve years, and had suffered many things by many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was no better, but rather grew worse, having heard the things concerning Jesus, came up behind him in the crowd, and touched his clothes. For she said, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be made well.” Immediately the flow of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of her affliction. Immediately Jesus, perceiving in himself that the power had gone out from him, turned around in the crowd, and asked, “Who touched my clothes?” His disciples said to him, “You see the multitude pressing against you, and you say, ‘Who touched me?’” He looked around to see her who had done this thing. But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had been done to her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.” (Mark 5:25-33 WEB) Romans 8:32 - If God delivered up Jesus for your sake, He will not withhold lesser things like healing and provision from you. “He who didn’t spare his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how would he not also with him freely give us all things?” (Romans 8:32 WEB) John 10:11 - Our God is a good God. The devil is a bad devil. The lines are clear. All the bad things that happened to you are from the devil, not from God. God is always good to you. “The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.” (John 10:10-11 WEB) Romans 2:4 - Today we “fear and tremble” from experiencing God’s goodness and being in awe of it—not a slavish fear of His punishment. “Or do you despise the riches of his goodness, forbearance, and patience, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?” (Romans 2:4 WEB) Jeremiah 33:9 - When people see the goodness of God, they will fear and tremble. “This city shall be to me for a name of joy, for a praise and for a glory, before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do to them, and shall fear and tremble for all the good and for all the peace that I procure to it.’”” (Jeremiah 33:9 WEB) 18 April 2021 - Persevere in Prayer - New Creation Church Sermon Notes - Pastor Lawrence Lim Sermon Notes
Pastor Lawrence Lim shared how we often receive not because we ask not. This sermon is a good reminder for us all to pray at all times and to ask for great things when we pray. God wants us to reign in life through His grace abounding towards us. If you considered giving up on praying, this message is an encouragement for you to continue in prayer until you see the breakthrough! Praise and Worship Songs Performed:
No matter what darkness you are facing, the light of God’s word will give you wisdom. Luke 12:32 - Abound in hope and always expect good things from God. “Don’t be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom.” (Luke 12:32 WEB) Pastor Lawrence shared a testimony about a couple who divorced, but they recently remarried. It is the power of the Gospel of Grace. Psalm 136:1 - Our God is a good God. “Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good; for his loving kindness endures forever.” (Psalms 136:1 WEB) Grace causes one to live a life that glorifies God. Hebrews 11:1 - Bible hope is to have a confident expectation of good things to come. “Now faith is assurance of things hoped for, proof of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1 WEB) 2 Corinthians 1:20 - All promises of God are yes and amen for us. “For however many are the promises of God, in him is the “Yes.” Therefore also through him is the “Amen”, to the glory of God through us.” (2 Corinthians 1:20 WEB) Joel 3:10 - Our God is the God of all comfort and He strengthens those who are weak. His grace is more than enough for us. “Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruning hooks into spears. Let the weak say, ‘I am strong.’” (Joel 3:10 WEB) Mark 9:28-29 - In the original Greek, the word “fasting” is not there. Jesus is emphasizing the power of prayer. “When he had come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, “Why couldn’t we cast it out?” He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing, except by prayer and fasting.”” (Mark 9:28-29 WEB) Matthew 21:13-14 - Believers are the house of God today. When we are a house of prayer, amazing miraculous breakthroughs will happen. “He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a den of robbers!” The blind and the lame came to him in the temple, and he healed them.” (Matthew 21:13-14 WEB) Luke 11:9-13 - Jesus made prayer so simple: ask and you shall receive. The Lord is encouraging us to ask of Him, knowing that He will open doors for us. Don’t make prayer so complicated—do not worry if you are doing it right or not. ““I tell you, keep asking, and it will be given you. Keep seeking, and you will find. Keep knocking, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened. “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, he won’t give him a snake instead of a fish, will he? Or if he asks for an egg, he won’t give him a scorpion, will he? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?”” (Luke 11:9-13 WEB) Luke 18:1-8 - Be bold to ask God for great things. You receive not because you ask not. “He also spoke a parable to them that they must always pray, and not give up, saying, “There was a judge in a certain city who didn’t fear God, and didn’t respect man. A widow was in that city, and she often came to him, saying, ‘Defend me from my adversary!’ He wouldn’t for a while, but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God, nor respect man, yet because this widow bothers me, I will defend her, or else she will wear me out by her continual coming.’” The Lord said, “Listen to what the unrighteous judge says. Won’t God avenge his chosen ones, who are crying out to him day and night, and yet he exercises patience with them? I tell you that he will avenge them quickly. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”” (Luke 18:1-8 WEB) Luke 1:37 - Faith is the substance of things hoped for. It is only through abounding in hope that faith is activated. “For nothing spoken by God is impossible.”” (Luke 1:37 WEB) Pastor Lawrence shared a testimony of a couple who managed to have a baby girl after seven years of waiting upon the Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:57 - No matter what you are going through, we receive the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 15:57 WEB) Acts 12:1-10 - The church faced a crisis. James was killed, but when Peter was arrested, constant prayer was made for him. When the church prayed for Peter, an angel was sent to rescue Peter out of the prison. Do not give up on prayer--your time is coming. “Now about that time, King Herod stretched out his hands to oppress some of the assembly. He killed James, the brother of John, with the sword. When he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also. This was during the days of unleavened bread. When he had arrested him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four squads of four soldiers each to guard him, intending to bring him out to the people after the Passover. Peter therefore was kept in the prison, but constant prayer was made by the assembly to God for him. The same night when Herod was about to bring him out, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains. Guards in front of the door kept the prison. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side, and woke him up, saying, “Stand up quickly!” His chains fell off from his hands. The angel said to him, “Get dressed and put on your sandals.” He did so. He said to him, “Put on your cloak, and follow me.” And he went out and followed him. He didn’t know that what was being done by the angel was real, but thought he saw a vision. When they were past the first and the second guard, they came to the iron gate that leads into the city, which opened to them by itself. They went out, and went down one street, and immediately the angel departed from him.” (Acts 12:1-10 WEB) 14 March 2021 - Why We Can Always Rejoice - New Creation Church Sermon Notes - Pastor Lawrence Lim Sermon NotesPastor Lawrence Lim reminded us that regardless of our outward circumstances, we can always rejoice in the Lord. When we know that God loves us and that all our sins have been forgiven, we will rejoice! Praise and Worship Songs Performed: 1. Who You Say I Am - Hillsong Music 2. Supply - New Creation Worship Romans 10:14-15 - The New Testament is about good news for believers. Good news lights a hope in your heart. “How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in him whom they have not heard? How will they hear without a preacher? And how will they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the Good News of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!”” (Romans 10:14-15 WEB) John 10:10-11 - God is always good and the devil is always bad. Jesus laid down His life so that we can truly enjoy life. “The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows). I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd risks and lays down His [own] life for the sheep. [Ps. 23.]” (John 10:10-11 AMPC) Return evil with good, not evil for evil. Matthew 7:11 - God gives good gifts to you when you ask for them. “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him.” (Matthew 7:11 WEB) Philippians 4:4 - In the midst of having chains around his limbs and being in prison, the apostle Paul wrote to rejoice in the Lord always. Our joy is not found in outward circumstances—it is found in the Lord. The epistle to the Philippians is Paul’s “ode to joy”. “Rejoice in the Lord always! Again I will say, “Rejoice!”” (Philippians 4:4 WEB) Acts 16:25 - Paul and Silas were beaten with rods and thrown into an inner prison. Yet, the two of them were praying and singing hymns to God at midnight. Midnight speaks of the darkest moments of our lives. There is something to rejoice about now. Your circumstances may not be good, but your God is good. Stop looking to your circumstances to decide if you should rejoice or not. When we praise our good Father, He will turn around the situation for our good. “But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.” (Acts 16:25 WEB) Philippians 3:13-14 - Forget the bad things that you have experienced. Close the chapter to your past hurts and let them go. “Brothers, I don’t regard myself as yet having taken hold, but one thing I do. Forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:13-14 WEB) Philippians 2:14 - Let’s not live life complaining. Start giving thanks for the blessings that you do have. Start giving thanks for the good things you see in your spouse. “Do all things without murmurings and disputes,” (Philippians 2:14 WEB) 29 November 2020 - How to Live Holy Under Grace - New Creation Church Sermon Notes - Pastor Lawrence LimPastor Lawrence Lim taught us how to live in true holiness through Grace which produces heart transformation and not just behavior modification through the works of the Law. If you want to live above sin and reign in life, this is a great sermon to meditate on. Praise and Worship songs performed: 1. Give Me This Mountain - New Creation Worship 2. Blessed Assurance - Fanny Crosby and Phoebe Knapp 3. Shout to the Lord - Darlene Zschech 4. O Come O Come Emmanuel - John Mason Neale Matthew 7:11 - We have a good Heavenly Father who gives us good gifts. “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!” (Matthew 7:11 WEB) 1 Corinthians 15:3 - The forgiveness of our sins is the greatest blessing we have received. You have been delivered from the penalty of sin. “For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,” (1 Corinthians 15:3 WEB) Ephesians 1:7 - “According”, not just “out of”—God has forgiven us so graciously. “in whom we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,” (Ephesians 1:7 WEB) Romans 1:16-17 - Gospel means “good news”. We need to pay attention to the good news of Jesus Christ and not the bad news in the world. The Gospel doesn’t just save you from Hell—it also brings you protection, preservation and provision. It is when we receive and believe the Gospel that we experience the power of God for salvation. “For I am not ashamed of the Good News of Christ, for it is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes; for the Jew first, and also for the Greek. For in it is revealed God’s righteousness from faith to faith. As it is written, “But the righteous shall live by faith.”” (Romans 1:16-17 WEB) Sin carries a penalty. The Bible says that the soul that sins must die. Our God is holy—He must judge sinful man for sins. This created universe is established upon justice and righteousness. Jesus took our sins upon Himself and was fully punished for them at the cross. God initiated this so that He would not have to punish us. Romans 4:5-8 - Our righteousness comes apart from works. It was received by faith. God shall not impute sin to you because He imputed it to Jesus. “But to him who doesn’t work, but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness. Even as David also pronounces blessing on the man to whom God counts righteousness apart from works, “Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whom the Lord will by no means charge with sin.”” (Romans 4:5-8 WEB) 1 Corinthians 1:30 - The grace of God upon our lives empowers us to live with moral excellence and character success. God wants us to live lives that glorify Him. Only the Gospel of Grace leads you to true holiness—transformation from the heart. Sin is never okay. Pastor Joseph Prince and New Creation Church believe in holiness and living lives that glorify God. “Because of him, you are in Christ Jesus, who was made to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption:” (1 Corinthians 1:30 WEB) If you want to know a trustworthiness of a ministry, look at its results. You can read all the testimonies shared on Pastor Prince’s website. A tree will be known by its fruits. Romans 6:14 - Have hope in your heart that your sinful habit will not remain. You are under Grace, so sin will not have dominion over you. “For sin will not have dominion over you. For you are not under law, but under grace.” (Romans 6:14 WEB) 2 Peter 2:7-8 - Compare Abraham and Lot. Both were called righteous men, but Lot compromised. He lived in Sodom which was subsequently destroyed by God. Abraham cultivated a relationship with God. He built altars and tithed, but there is no record of Lot ever doing so. Lot was blessed. He had huge flocks and herds. Lot left Abraham—a picture of leaving the Gospel of righteousness by faith. Lot was tormented in his soul when he saw and heard all the lawless deeds done in Sodom, but he never left the city—he compromised. “and delivered righteous Lot, who was very distressed by the lustful life of the wicked (for that righteous man dwelling among them, was tormented in his righteous soul from day to day with seeing and hearing lawless deeds):” (2 Peter 2:7-8 WEB) 1 Peter 1:15-16 - We are all for holiness, but how can we be holy in our behavior? “but just as he who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all of your behavior; because it is written, “You shall be holy; for I am holy.”” (1 Peter 1:15-16 WEB) 1 Peter 1:13-14 - Rest your hope fully on the Grace of God. Doing that is to be obedient children. When you know and believe that you have been forgiven and that you have a new identity in Christ, you can live a holy life. “Therefore prepare your minds for action, be sober, and set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ— as children of obedience, not conforming yourselves according to your former lusts as in your ignorance,” (1 Peter 1:13-14 WEB) 25 October 2020 - Praise is your Strength to Silence your Enemies - New Creation Church Sermon Notes - Pastor Lawrence Lim Sermon NotesPastor Lawrence Lim preached a sermon that lifted up God's love and reminded us to inquire of the Lord in every situation. When we face insurmountable challenges, we can praise the Lord and see Him fight our battles for us! Praise and worship songs performed: 1. Give Me This Mountain - New Creation Worship 2. The Power of Your Presence 3. Gaze Upon the Cross - Michael Davis Let your faith arise and have strong hope—a confident expectation of good things to come. Today is a good day for your miracle! Our God is a good God. He is no respecter of persons. Just as He is good to other believer, so will He be good to you, child of God. Believe that 2020 is still going to be a year of breakthrough, miracles and victory for the children of God. 2 Chronicles 20:1-4 - King Jehoshaphat was facing an insurmountable multitude of enemies that could possibly annihilate his nation. It is okay to be fearful, but you must know what to do when you are feeling afraid. Jehoshaphat’s wise response was to seek the Lord. Don’t look at the mountains before you—look up and seek the Lord. You can ask Him for help no matter what situation you are facing. God is omnipotent (all-powerful). He is not just powerful, but He is also willing to help you. You are God’s beloved child, and your Abba God is always ready to help you. Jehoshaphat sought the Lord and God gave him a great victory against his enemies. “After this, the children of Moab, the children of Ammon, and with them some of the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle. Then some came who told Jehoshaphat, saying, “A great multitude is coming against you from beyond the sea from Syria. Behold, they are in Hazazon Tamar” (that is, En Gedi). Jehoshaphat was alarmed, and set himself to seek to Yahweh. He proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. Judah gathered themselves together to seek help from Yahweh. They came out of all the cities of Judah to seek Yahweh.” (2 Chronicles 20:1-4 WEB) 1 Chronicles 10:13-14 - Saul was the first king of Israel. The first indictment against him was that as a king, he did not inquire of the Lord. This is opposite to David, his successor. David always inquired of the Lord. “So Saul died for his trespass which he committed against Yahweh, because of Yahweh’s word, which he didn’t keep; and also because he asked counsel of one who had a familiar spirit, to inquire, and didn’t inquire of Yahweh. Therefore he killed him, and turned the kingdom over to David the son of Jesse.” (1 Chronicles 10:13-14 WEB) 1 Samuel 23:1-5 - David inquired of the Lord and received specific instruction from the Lord to save Keilah. David heard the people opposing the Lord’s instruction and he inquired of the Lord again. Always inquire of the Lord, don’t listen to popular opinion of men. If you are not sure, it is okay to inquired of the Lord again. Every time you seek the Lord first before making a decision, you are being humble. You are relying on Him instead of in the flesh. As you keep seeking the Lord, the Holy Spirit will faithfully guide and help you in every situation of your life. “David was told, “Behold, the Philistines are fighting against Keilah, and are robbing the threshing floors.” Therefore David inquired of Yahweh, saying, “Shall I go and strike these Philistines?” Yahweh said to David, “Go strike the Philistines, and save Keilah.” David’s men said to him, “Behold, we are afraid here in Judah. How much more then if we go to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?” Then David inquired of Yahweh yet again. Yahweh answered him, and said, “Arise, go down to Keilah; for I will deliver the Philistines into your hand.” David and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their livestock, and killed them with a great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.” (1 Samuel 23:1-5 WEB) John 10:27 - If you are Jesus’ sheep, you will hear His voice. “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” (John 10:27 WEB) Psalm 23:3-4 - Jesus guides you in the paths of righteousness. Even if you wander away and walk into the valley of the shadow of death, He is still with you. When you humble yourself to inquire of Him, He will surely help you. “He restores my soul. He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” (Psalms 23:3-4 WEB) 2 Chronicles 20:12 - Jehoshaphat was so humble to admit that he had no power nor wisdom to defeat his enemies. We only need to keep our eyes on Jesus and His promises to us. “Our God, will you not judge them? For we have no might against this great company that comes against us. We don’t know what to do, but our eyes are on you.”” (2 Chronicles 20:12 WEB) 2 Chronicles 20:15-17 - Do not be afraid of the challenges you are facing. The battle is not yours, but God’s. When God fights for you, you are going to win. Victory is surely yours. Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. “and he said, “Listen, all Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, king Jehoshaphat. Yahweh says to you, ‘Don’t be afraid, and don’t be dismayed because of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s. Tomorrow, go down against them. Behold, they are coming up by the ascent of Ziz. You will find them at the end of the valley, before the wilderness of Jeruel. You will not need to fight this battle. Set yourselves, stand still, and see the salvation of Yahweh with you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Don’t be afraid, nor be dismayed. Go out against them tomorrow, for Yahweh is with you.’”” (2 Chronicles 20:15-17 WEB) 2 Chronicles 20:20 - To have 20/20 perfect vision is to believe in God and to believe in the inspired words of God’s prophets (God-inspired words that cause edification, comfort and strengthening). You will be established and you will prosper. “They rose early in the morning, and went out into the wilderness of Tekoa. As they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Listen to me, Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem! Believe in Yahweh your God, so you will be established! Believe his prophets, so you will prosper.”” (2 Chronicles 20:20 WEB) 2 Chronicles 20:21-23 - The words translated as “loving kindness” in the original Hebrew is “hesed” which means grace. Jehoshaphat stationed singers and worshippers in front of his army which is in the natural, a bad military decision. When you fix your eyes on God’s Grace, something happens to your enemies. Praise is your weapon. When you praise, something good happens to you. “When he had taken counsel with the people, he appointed those who were to sing to Yahweh, and give praise in holy array, as they go out before the army, and say, “Give thanks to Yahweh; for his loving kindness endures forever.” When they began to sing and to praise, Yahweh set ambushers against the children of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were struck. For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir to utterly kill and destroy them: and when they had finished the inhabitants of Seir, everyone helped to destroy another.” (2 Chronicles 20:21-23 WEB) 2 Chronicles 20:24-27 - The valley of trouble became the valley of blessing (Beracah). When Judah praised the Lord, the Lord fought for them. “When Judah came to the place overlooking the wilderness, they looked at the multitude; and behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and there were none who escaped. When Jehoshaphat and his people came to take their plunder, they found among them in abundance both riches and dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away. They took plunder for three days, it was so much. On the fourth day, they assembled themselves in Beracah Valley, for there they blessed Yahweh. Therefore the name of that place was called “Beracah Valley” to this day. Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, with Jehoshaphat in front of them, to go again to Jerusalem with joy; for Yahweh had made them to rejoice over their enemies.” (2 Chronicles 20:24-27 WEB) Romans 8:28 - Praise God for He makes all things work together for your good. “We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28 WEB) Matthew 21:16 - Jesus quoted from Psalm 8, but He changed the word “strength” to “praise” instead. He equated strength with praise. “and said to him, “Do you hear what these are saying?” Jesus said to them, “Yes. Did you never read, ‘Out of the mouth of babes and nursing babies you have perfected praise?’”” (Matthew 21:16 WEB) Psalm 8:1-2 - Praise is your strength to silence the enemy and the avenger. Every time you praise the Lord, something shifts in the spirit realm and something good will happen for you. “Yahweh, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth, who has set your glory above the heavens! From the lips of babes and infants you have established strength, because of your adversaries, that you might silence the enemy and the avenger.” (Psalms 8:1-2 WEB) Psalm 34:1-6 - David was a man who praised God, even in the toughest situations of his life. David wrote this psalm when he was exiled from his own nation and had to feign madness, letting his drool run down his beard in order to avoid death. Even in the toughest times, keeping praising Jesus. He will turn the situation around for your good. “I will bless Yahweh at all times. His praise will always be in my mouth. My soul shall boast in Yahweh. The humble shall hear of it, and be glad. Oh magnify Yahweh with me. Let us exalt his name together. I sought Yahweh, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears. They looked to him, and were radiant. Their faces shall never be covered with shame. This poor man cried, and Yahweh heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.” (Psalms 34:1-6 WEB) 2 August 2020 - Yahweh is your Portion - Pastor Lawrence Lim Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Sermon NotesPastor Lawrence Lim encouraged us with a timely sermon brimming with Biblical hope. Because the Lord Yahweh is your portion, everything that He has and that He is also belongs to you! Confess that and expect good things to happen to you every day. Praise and worship songs performed: 1. Give Me This Mountain - New Creation Worship 2. Here I Bow - Bethel Music James 4:13-14 - Life is vulnerable to sudden change. This COVID-19 pandemic has shown it. “Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow let’s go into this city, and spend a year there, trade, and make a profit.” Whereas you don’t know what your life will be like tomorrow. For what is your life? For you are a vapor, that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away.” (James 4:13-14 WEB) Despite the troubles around, the Lord is still with you. He is for you and He loves you. The children of Israel were in Egypt but they were not afflicted by the plagues that struck the Egyptians. We are in the world but not of the world. Psalm 42:5 - When the world says “hope”, they use it to refer to something they desire to have, but are unsure whether it will come true. But Biblical hope is a confident expectation of good things to come. It means you will surely have what you prayed for. Even though you feel frustrated, disappointed or cast down, remind yourself to hope in God. “Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him for the saving help of his presence.” (Psalms 42:5 WEB) Psalm 23:4 - Always remember that God is with you, even in dark seasons. Shepherds use the rod to fend off wolves that try to attack the flock. The rod represents God’s protection against enemies. The shepherd uses the staff to direct the sheep back to the right path. The staff represents God’s guidance. “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” (Psalms 23:4 WEB) Psalm 119:105 - God’s word is the staff that guides us. “Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path.” (Psalms 119:105 WEB) |
