5 December 2021 - Pray In Tongues to Possess your Possessions - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Sermon Notes

New Sermon Notes: Pastor Joseph Prince taught us how to possess our possessions in Christ by praying in tongues, thereby means walking in the Spirit. Praying in the spirit is being emphasized for this season!

Praise and Worship Song Performed:

Joshua 13:1 - God wants us to possess much more of our possessions in Christ.

“Now Joshua was old and well advanced in years. Yahweh said to him, “You are old and advanced in years, and there remains yet very much land to be possessed.” (Joshua‬ ‭13:1‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Joshua 1:3-4 - We must possess what God has given to us.
When you join all the geographical positions, you will get the shape of a cross. Your possession is found at the cross.
The cross of Jesus Christ is the solid foundation for us to receive healing.

“I have given you every place that the sole of your foot will tread on, as I told Moses. From the wilderness, and this Lebanon, even to the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your border.” (Joshua‬ ‭1:3-4‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

The things that happened in the Old Testament are shadows, whereas we who are under the New Covenant of Grace have the substance.

Isaiah 53:4 - It is as if prophet Isaiah saw that people would have trouble believing in healing. That is why there is the word “surely”—the Holy Spirit is assuring us that healing has been paid for by Jesus.

“Surely he has borne our sickness, and carried our suffering; yet we considered him plagued, struck by God, and afflicted.” (Isaiah‬ ‭53:4‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

2 Corinthians 8:9 - This is in the context of finances and having all your material needs supplied.

“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that you through his poverty might become rich.” (2 Corinthians‬ ‭8:9‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Genesis 3:19 - Jesus redeemed us from the curse of painful toil that was placed upon mankind in the Garden of Eden. He did this by sweating blood in the Garden of Gethsemane.

“By the sweat of your face will you eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”” (Genesis‬ ‭3:19‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Isaiah 59:19 - Pray in the spirit (in tongues) for at least thirty minutes to one hour every day. Let us use our authority in Christ to pray for our nation. Ask God to let His Spirit make intercession through you. This is what the Lord said to Pastor Prince.
Put God’s spiritual words in your mouth.

“So shall they fear The name of the Lord from the west, And His glory from the rising of the sun; When the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him. “The Redeemer will come to Zion, And to those who turn from transgression in Jacob,” Says the Lord. “As for Me,” says the Lord, “this is My covenant with them: My Spirit who is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your descendants, nor from the mouth of your descendants’ descendants,” says the Lord, “from this time and forevermore.” “Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.” (Isaiah‬ ‭59:19-60:1 NKJV‬‬)

Pray in Tongues to Walk in the Spirit

1 Corinthians 14:2 - When we pray in tongues, we are not speaking by humanly wisdom, but by the Spirit. We are speaking mysteries to God.
“Mystery” in the New Covenant is no longer something that is hidden. It was once hidden in Old Testament times, but is now revealed.

“For he who speaks in another language speaks not to men, but to God; for no one understands; but in the Spirit he speaks mysteries.” (1 Corinthians‬ ‭14:2‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

When you try to keep the Law, it stirs up your sinful flesh to produce sin. The letter (Ten Commandments) kills but the Spirit gives life.

Romans 7:4 - We are dead to the Law. When you live by the Spirit, you will fulfill the moral requirements of the Law without even being conscious of it.
Walking in the Spirit causes you to have moral excellence.

“Therefore, my brothers, you also were made dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you would be joined to another, to him who was raised from the dead, that we might produce fruit to God.” (Romans‬ ‭7:4‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Laws only govern you outwardly, not from within. Nations need laws based on Judeo-Christian principles. But with regards to our relationship with God, we must have our hearts transformed so that we will walk in moral excellence.

The Law is holy and righteous, but it cannot make man righteous.

Romans 6:6 - The old man was crucified with Christ. You do not need to acknowledge him as if he is still alive.

“knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be in bondage to sin.” (Romans‬ ‭6:6‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 6:10-11 - Experience causes you to feel like the old man is still there, but faith sees that he is gone.
You do not even have to pray against the old man. As far as God is concerned, the old man has been done away with.

“For the death that he died, he died to sin one time; but the life that he lives, he lives to God. Thus consider yourselves also to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans‬ ‭6:10-11‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Genesis 22:2 - Abraham already had two sons: Ishmael and Isaac. In God’s eyes, what is born of the flesh is not recognized.
When God looks at you, He does not look at what is born of the flesh, but only what is born of the Spirit.
The old man that was born of the flesh is gone.
True deliverance means not having any desire for sin, and is only possible through the Holy Spirit.

“He said, “Now take your son, your only son, whom you love, even Isaac, and go into the land of Moriah. Offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains which I will tell you of.”” (Genesis‬ ‭22:2‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Hebrew 11:5-6 - Enoch did not see death. One day, he was walking and he just stepped into the glory. Enoch walked with God, like how Adam and Eve originally walked with God.
This is what will happen to us when the Rapture takes place.

“By faith, Enoch was taken away, so that he wouldn’t see death, and he was not found, because God translated him. For he has had testimony given to him that before his translation he had been well pleasing to God. Without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him.” (Hebrews‬ ‭11:5-6‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Genesis 17:1 - God asked Abram to walk before Him, which means that he has favor with God.
When we walk before God, it means we believe right about Him and are not seeing Him as a God who is looking to find fault or punish us. This makes us become blameless because we believe right.

“When Abram was ninety-nine years old, Yahweh appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am God Almighty. Walk before me, and be blameless.” (Genesis‬ ‭17:1‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Numbers 6:25 - Today, God’s face is beaming on you. You have His favor.

“Yahweh make his face to shine on you, and be gracious to you.” (Numbers‬ ‭6:25‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Galatians 5:16 - To walk in the Spirit is a very intimate description. We are tripartite beings: body, soul, spirit. This parallels with the Tabernacle: outer court, Holy Place, Holy of Holies.
When you walk in the Spirit, you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

“But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you won’t fulfill the lust of the flesh.” (Galatians‬ ‭5:16‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

1 Corinthians 14:14-15 - When you pray in tongues, you are praying with your spirit.

“For if I pray in another language, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also. I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.” (1 Corinthians‬ ‭14:14-15‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Jude 1:20-21 - When you pray in tongues, you are praying from the most holy place in you. That is why it is “most holy faith”.

“But you, beloved, keep building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in God’s love, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.” (Jude‬ ‭1:20-21‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

The gift of tongues among the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit is a public gift. When you speak in tongues out loud in the church, it must be interpreted. Our private praying in tongues is just our personal prayer language. It is different from the public gift of praying in tongues in the church.

1 Corinthians 14:5 - Paul said prophesying was better than praying in tongues in the church because people can understand it, and will be edified. However, when you pray in tongues, it is speaking to God.

“Now I desire to have you all speak with other languages, but rather that you would prophesy. For he is greater who prophesies than he who speaks with other languages, unless he interprets, that the assembly may be built up.” (1 Corinthians‬ ‭14:5‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

1 Corinthians 14:18-19 - The Corinthian church was very zealous about the gift of praying in tongues, but Paul said that he spokes in tongues more than all of them. He must have prayed in tongues all day long.
When you pray ten thousand words privately in tongues, your five words spoken with the understand in public will have more impact and power.
When you pray in tongues, God teaches you.

“I thank my God, I speak with other languages more than you all. However in the assembly I would rather speak five words with my understanding, that I might instruct others also, than ten thousand words in another language.” (1 Corinthians‬ ‭14:18-19‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

God wants our body to be in subjection to the soul and the soul to be in subjection to the spirit.

John 14:26 - When you pray in tongues, the Holy Spirit teaches you in all things.

“But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you.” (John‬ ‭14:26‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Isaiah 48:17 - Pray in tongues and you will be so sensitive to God’s leading. He will teach you to profit in all areas of your life.

“Yahweh, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel says: “I am Yahweh your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way that you should go.” (Isaiah‬ ‭48:17‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Joshua 1:8-9 - The word “meditate” in Hebrew is “hagah” which means to mutter with the mouth.

“This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it; for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success. Haven’t I commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be dismayed, for Yahweh your God is with you wherever you go.”” (Joshua‬ ‭1:8-9‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

John 7:37-39 - When you pray in tongues, you will make your way prosperous and you will have good success.

“Now on the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink! He who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, from within him will flow rivers of living water.” But he said this about the Spirit, which those believing in him were to receive. For the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus wasn’t yet glorified.” (John‬ ‭7:37-39‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Psalm 1:2-3 - Today, we meditate on the Spirit and not on the Law. We will be fruitful, perennially young and healthy, and prosperous.

“but his delight is in Yahweh’s law. On his law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water, that produces its fruit in its season, whose leaf also does not wither. Whatever he does shall prosper.” (Psalms‬ ‭1:2-3‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Ezekiel 47:1 - The Dead Sea is no longer one mass of Dead Sea. It has become two. One part is healing whereas the other half is still dead. This is a literal fulfillment of Ezekiel’s prophecy.

“He brought me back to the door of the house; and behold, waters issued out from under the threshold of the house eastward; (for the forefront of the house was toward the east;) and the waters came down from under, from the right side of the house, on the south of the altar.” (Ezekiel‬ ‭47:1‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Ezekiel 47:8-10 - In the future, the dead part of the Dead Sea will also be healed.
Spiritually-speaking, wherever we go, when we pray in the Spirit, we are releasing life.
Catching many fish is also a picture of a great harvest of souls. Our evangelism will be fruitful.

“Then he said to me, These waters flow out toward the eastern region, and will go down into the Arabah; and they will go toward the sea; and flow into the sea which will be made to flow out; and the waters will be healed. It shall happen, that every living creature which swarms, in every place where the rivers come, shall live; and there shall be a very great multitude of fish; for these waters have come there, and the waters of the sea shall be healed, and everything shall live wherever the river comes. It shall happen, that fishermen shall stand by it: from En Gedi even to En Eglaim shall be a place for the spreading of nets; their fish shall be after their kinds, as the fish of the great sea, exceeding many.” (Ezekiel‬ ‭47:8-10‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Matthew 4:19 - As believers, we are also fishers of men—soul winners.

“He said to them, “Come after me, and I will make you fishers for men.”” (Matthew‬ ‭4:19‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Ezekiel 47:12 - This brings back the picture of the tree planted by the waters in Psalm 1. We shall be fruitful, healthy, and young as we keep praying in tongues.

“By the river on its bank, on this side and on that side, shall grow every tree for food, whose leaf shall not wither, neither shall its fruit fail: it shall produce new fruit every month, because its waters issue out of the sanctuary; and its fruit shall be for food, and its leaf for healing.” (Ezekiel‬ ‭47:12‬ ‭WEB‬‬)
