Praise and Worship songs performed today:
  1. Open the Eyes of my Heart - Paul Baloche
  2. Reckless Love - Caleb Culver
  3. Jesus Loves Me
  4. Letting Go - New Creation Worship

Jesus’ name in Hebrew: Yeshua. It means Salvation. He is here to save you and meet your every need.

Don’t let your fears overwhelm you - always go back to the word of God. It is in Christ that we have our confidence.

Psalm 23:1 - We don’t have to fear the lack of provision because God has promised we will not lack.
King David said that he has been young and old and hasn’t seen the righteous starving or begging for bread. It’s God’s promise of provision.

“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.” (Psalms 23:1 NKJV)

I Samuel 21:8-9 - Being fearful, David lied about not bringing a weapon.
Here, David is a far cry from when he faced Goliath.
Back then he had nothing but trust in the Lord. With the Lord, he conquered Goliath with a sling and a stone.
Here, David’s heart is filled with fear and not conscious of the Lord - He is fallen. He placed trust in the weapon more than in God.
There are seasons in our lives where we our faith is low. Our spiritual walks have ups and downs.
New believers have such a passion and excitement about the things of God.
Your awareness of the love of God can be renewed today.

“And David said to Ahimelech, “Is there not here on hand a spear or a sword? For I have brought neither my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king’s business required haste.” So the priest said, “The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you killed in the Valley of Elah, there it is, wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod. If you will take that, take it. For there is no other except that one here.” And David said, “ There is none like it; give it to me.”” (I Samuel 21:8-9 NKJV)

I Samuel 21:10-15 - Whatever you take to your heart has a consequence.
David was fearful. People lie when they're under duress. David pretended to be mad because he was afraid of Achish.

“Then David arose and fled that day from before Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath. And the servants of Achish said to him, “ Is this not David the king of the land? Did they not sing of him to one another in dances, saying: ‘Saul has slain his thousands, And David his ten thousands’?” Now David took these words to heart, and was very much afraid of Achish the king of Gath. So he changed his behavior before them, pretended madness in their hands, scratched on the doors of the gate, and let his saliva fall down on his beard. Then Achish said to his servants, “Look, you see the man is insane. Why have you brought him to me? Have I need of madmen, that you have brought this fellow to play the madman in my presence? Shall this fellow come into my house?”” (I Samuel 21:10-15 NKJV)

Trusting in God: The secret to David's transformation from fearful to courageous

I Samuel 22:20-23 - Although David was so fearful in the previous chapter, here he had the faith to be a refuge for Abiathar.
Something happened between chapter 21 and 22.

“Now one of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped and fled after David. And Abiathar told David that Saul had killed the LORD’s priests. So David said to Abiathar, “I knew that day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul. I have caused the death of all the persons of your father’s house. Stay with me; do not fear. For he who seeks my life seeks your life, but with me you shall be safe.”” (I Samuel 22:20-23 NKJV)

Psalm 56:3-4 - This psalm was written just after David was fearful of Achish and pretended to be mad.
When you trust in God and in His word, you will not fear.
When you place your trust in Him, He will do something to your heart.
God wants your heart to be filled with hope, not fear. Hope is a confident expectation of good things to come.
FEAR is False Evidence Appearing Real. God’s word is the truth.

“Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. In God (I will praise His word), In God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me?” (Psalms 56:3-4 NKJV)

Proverbs 3:5 - Trust in God AND lean not on your own understanding.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;” (Proverbs 3:5 NKJV)

Psalm 56:8-9 - There is a Person in the universe who knows of every tear that your cry - God knows every pain and anguish that you’re going through.
God keeps the tears to remember you so that He can help you. He feels for you. In your sadness, He sees and He cares.
David had a New Covenant revelation while he was under the Old Covenant - God is for you - He is not against you!

“You number my wanderings; Put my tears into Your bottle; Are they not in Your book? When I cry out to You, Then my enemies will turn back; This I know, because God is for me.” (Psalms 56:8-9 NKJV)

Psalm 56:10-11 - David had an encounter with God.
He went from being a fearful man to a courageous man.
It doesn’t happen by your own will. It’s when you know how much you’re loved by God.

“In God (I will praise His word), In the LORD (I will praise His word), In God I have put my trust; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?” (Psalms 56:10-11 NKJV)

God is Love. That is a New Covenant revelation. Perfect love casts out all fear. This love is a protective shield around you.

God is more willing to meet your needs with a tsunami wave of supply, than you are willing to receive from Him.
Believe in the love and goodness of God.

According to the Bible, the fear of death is one of the greatest fears that man has.
What Jesus did at the cross has delivered us from the fear of death.

John 11:21-26 - What has happened in the past is already over.
God is the God of your now. He can turn everything around for your good.
Jesus wants to meet your needs here and now, not in the future.
Jesus declaring that He is the resurrection and the life is an audacious statement to the people at that time. He is telling the bystanders that He is more than just a man.

“Now Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. But even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You.” Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” Martha said to Him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”” (John 11:21-26 NKJV)

God sees every tear you have shed and He is right there going through the pain with you. You are not alone, He will help you, heal you and restore you. Image Credits: rootofdavid.blogspot.com

God is right there with you in your depression, empathising with you and He will help you

John 11:35 - Why did Jesus cry? God will cry with you. When you shed your tears, He sheds His tears too.
He empathizes with you - our God is a feeling God.
God also has the power to end the pain in your life forever.

“Jesus wept.” (John 11:35 NKJV)

John 11:43-44 - Lazarus looked like a bound mummy.
It is impossible for Lazarus to walk out of the tomb himself because his face was wrapped with a cloth and his limbs were bound.
Pastor Lawrence believes that when Jesus said “Lazarus, come forth”, Lazarus levitated out of the tomb and landed on his feet in front of them - This proved to the bystanders that Jesus is God.
Except for Jesus, no one in the past or in the future will be able to resurrect someone who has been dead for four days.

“Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!” And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Loose him, and let him go.”” (John 11:43-44 NKJV)

Suicide is not a solution. God knows exactly what you’re going through. He has kept your tears in His bottle.
Don’t take your life. God is with you.

Luke 24:50:51 - The last thing Jesus did before ascending to heaven was to bless His disciples.
God just wants to bless you.
Bethany holds a special place in God’s heart. Bethany means “House of Misery/Depression”.
The last place Jesus wanted to be before ascending to heaven was Bethany because God loves to be there for you in your depression and misery, to comfort you and help you.

“And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them. Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven.” (Luke 24:50-51 NKJV)

Romans 8:15-17 - “Abba” is an informal term. “Father” is a formal term.
Our relationship with God is informal, not formal. He is close to us.

“For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.” (Romans 8:15-17 NKJV)

Philippians 1:28 - When you’re not afraid of your enemies, it is the end for them because God will deliver you from them.

“and not in any way terrified by your adversaries, which is to them a proof of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that from God.” (Philippians 1:28 NKJV)

Closing Prayer:
Pastor Lawrence prayed that this week we will experience God’s love for us afresh, that we would be protected from all evil, be at the right place at the right time.
He also prayed that God’s favor will surround us like a shield.

I highly recommend purchasing Pastor Prince's sermons on his mobile app "Joseph Prince" on Apple App Store or Google Play Store even after you read these notes as I may have missed out something he shared and the overall experience is definitely different when you listen to him preaching directly!
Use these notes as a revision guide instead of solely depending on them!

These sermon notes are independently-compiled by me, and I'm just a loyal and regular attendee of the the church's Sunday services, and I feel led to take detailed personal sermon notes of Pastor Prince's anointed messages to share them with the world, which desperately needs the true word of God and the original gospel of grace.

I feel blessed to be able to attend Pastor Joseph Prince's services in person, and would like to help everyone who isn't able to attend in person, to get hold of the messages as soon as it is preached!
