25 March 2018 - Hypocrisy is an Abomination to God - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes Online - New Creation Church Sermon Notes Online
The gospel of grace opens up your heart and makes you generous. Of all the sins that Jesus publicly rebukes and exposes in the gospels, hypocrisy brings out that anger in Him the most. He responds this way because He loves them. The Mount of Beatitudes is almost acoustically perfect. The Father already prepared the place for His Son to preach the Sermon on the Mount. Leprosy is a disease that when you contract it, you have to be kept out of the camp, isolated away from people. Under the Law, if you touch a leper, you will become unclean. Psalms 147:3-5 - The world is full of broken hearts. God wants to heal us of our broken hearts. “He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds. He counts the number of the stars; He calls them all by name. Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite.” (Psalms 147:3-5 NKJV) Under grace, Jesus touched the unclean leper and made him clean. Under the Law, the unclean makes the clean, unclean. Under the Law, 3000 people died at Mount Sinai. Under grace, 3000 people were saved on the Day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came. You will never feel that you are truly loved, until you know that someone knows all about you and still loves you. God knows all about you and still loves you. John 4:17-18 - Hypocrisy means “play acting - pretending to be what you are not”. Every time you pretend to be something you’re not, you won’t feel loved. Until you stop pretending to be someone you’re not, you cannot feel loved by God and God can’t cast out your fear and transform you. Like the woman at the well in Samaria. Jesus exposed her sin courteously. Jesus did the “divine sandwich” - He praised her first, exposed her sin, and then praised her again. The Bible says that Jesus “needed to go through Samaria”. It was not a topographical need. It was a grace need - He wanted to love her and save her. “The woman answered and said, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You have well said, ‘I have no husband,’ for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly.”” (John 4:17-18 NKJV) Never argue with a woman when she is rested or when she is tired. Basically, don’t argue with her.
