You have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear, but the Spirit of adoption which cries “Abba”. Under the Law, the Jews had a slavish fear to God. We are to have “the fear of the Lord” but that means a worshipful adoration of God. We are sons of God. God can give you an all-encompassing (in Greek: soteria). God is restoring your mental faculties. Revelation 1:5-6 - As Prince of Peace, it shows that Jesus submits to God the Father. As King of Kings, it shows that Jesus is sovereign. Jesus knows you through and through and still loves you. It all depends on who washes our sins—if Jesus washes, then our robes of righteousness shine brighter than the sun. We are kings and priests to God, called to carry out God’s purposes here on earth. Prophets represent God in declaring His words to man. Priest is towards God—they come with prayers and gifts to God. When we worship God, we are like a sweet-smelling odor to God. In the Bible, you’ll never find a sickly priest. They are alwaysstrong and healthy. There’s something about worshiping God that keeps you strong. People who go to church live the longest. When you come to church, life is added to you. A king carries out God’s assignment. “and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us, and washed us from our sins by his blood; and he made us to be a Kingdom, priests to his God and Father; to him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.” (Revelation 1:5-6 WEB) People with their puny brains are sitting in judgment against an all-knowing, all-powerful God. They don’t even know how to govern their lives. If you sin against your children, there are some consequences. If you sin against your spouse, there are greater consequences—you sleep on the couch for the night and face a silent treatment. If you sin against your boss (like embezzling company funds), there are even greater consequences. If you sin against your nation (like attempting to assassinate the president), the consequence is death. If you sin against God, the consequence is much more dire. People who criticize God and say that He’s mean have no respect for the importance and greatness of God. While we were sinners, Jesus died for us. You are loved! Ecclesiastes 8:4 - Power is released when kings speak. Adam had this power in theGarden of Eden. He spoke and had authority over all the creatures in the Garden. “for the king’s word is supreme. Who can say to him, “What are you doing?”” (Ecclesiastes 8:4 WEB)

When you getyour rewards from God, remember to give Him all the honor for it. In Heaven, we’ll cast all our crowns before Him. When you use the Grace that God first gave you, He rewards you for it. In the body of Christ, different preachers are called to preach with a slightly different focus in their heart. There’s no competition—only collaboration. Matthew 25:14-23 - The talents represent giftings. The servants gave glory to their master for giving them the talents. We can’t do anything without Jesus, but with Him we can do all things because He strengthens us. The servant gained five more talents. “Gained” means that it’s God’s favor that enabled the increase. ““For it is like a man, going into another country, who called his own servants, and entrusted his goods to them. To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one; to each according to his own ability. Then he went on his journey. Immediately he who received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents. In the same way, he also who got the two gained another two. But he who received the one talent went away and dug in the earth, and hid his lord’s money. “Now after a long time the lord of those servants came, and reconciled accounts with them. He who received the five talents came and brought another five talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents. Enter into the joy of your lord.’” (Matthew 25:14-23 WEB) Matthew 25:24-25 - The word “hard” in Greek has the idea of harsh, stern and even violent. All fear is caused by a wrong perception of God. When being tested by the devil in the wilderness, Jesus translated the fear of the Lord to be worship of the Lord. Hate follows the heels of fear. God doesn’t want you to hate Him. When the wrong kind of fear comes in, a person is unable to use the gifting that he has received and becomes unfruitful. Right believing leads to right living. Wrong believing leads to wrong living, serving and giving. ““He also who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you that you are a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not scatter. I was afraid, and went away and hid your talent in the earth. Behold, you have what is yours.’” (Matthew 25:24-25 WEB) When Peter ministered healing to the lame man in the Book of Acts, he was quick to give all glory to Jesus and let the people know that it was not because of his own power or holiness. The Holy Spirit cannot be grieved when you eat cookies during service. The Law is true, but Grace is the truth that will set you free. “For the law was given through Moses. Grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ.” (John 1:17 WEB) A servant (Moses) can tell you what claims and demands the Master has upon you, but it takes the Son to unveil the heart of God. Exodus 32:30 - Moses wasn’t sure (he said “perhaps”) that he could make atonement for Israel, whereas our Lord Jesus went up to the cross sure that He would make atonement for us. “On the next day, Moses said to the people, “You have sinned a great sin. Now I will go up to Yahweh. Perhaps I shall make atonement for your sin.”” (Exodus 32:30 WEB) Moses had 2 occasions of 40 days with God—1) Moses came down because of Israel’s idolatry, 2) Moses came down from Mount Sinai after receiving all commandants and statutes from God. Jesus also had 2 occasions of 40 days with God—1) the testing from the devil in the wilderness. Jesus came out of the 40 days with the power to bless. 2) Jesus spent 40 days with the disciples on earth after His resurrection. 40 is the number of testing, trial or probation. Jesus was not tempted to sin. He was tested by the devil. Jesus had no sin nature, so there was no stirrings inside Him when the devil tried to tempt Him. Jesus was born of a virgin, being totally free from sin from birth. Jesus is impeccable. It’s not that He would not sin—He could not sin. Jesus is like a pure gold bar, tested and verified that there is no impurity in Him. It’s not enough to know a person’s ways. You must know the person’s heart. Does God judge and discipline? Yes. But He doesn’t punish believers. Today the world is interested in creation. In the whole Bible, only only one chapter was dedicated to creation—Genesis 1. However, Moses wrote 7 chapters dedicated to God’s redemption—Exodus 25-31, corresponding to Moses’ 40 days on Mount Sinai. Deuteronomy 9:8-12 - During the period of Egypt to Sinai, God dealt with Israel by pure Grace. There was no record that God was ever angry with them during that time. Israel kept sinning against God during that time, but God just kept providing for their needs. It was not dependent on Israel’s goodness, but on His goodness. Had Israel said “Don’t bless us based on our faithfulness but on Your faithfulness,” God wouldn’t have given them the Law. The Law was never given to justify man, but to expose man’s sinfulness. The Law results in the wrath of God. Do you want to be under Law or Grace? How can we be fulfilled by the shadow (Law), when the substance (Grace) has already been given? Moses had the Grace to fast for 40 days and 40 nights. Read the Four Gospels—in the presence of Jesus, no one died. In His presence there is healing and even resurrection. To partake unworthily of Holy Communion means to act as though your sins are not already all forgiven. Moses only received the tablets of the Ten Commandments at the end of the 40 days. Moses broke the two tablets of the Ten Commandments and God wasn’t angry. If Moses had brought the tablets into the camp, all the children of Israel would have died—the Law is the ministry of death. Whoever was on Moses’ side gathered to him (specifically the tribe of Levi), and they slew 3000 people who insistent on worshiping the golden calf. On the other hand, when the Holy Spirit was poured out on the Day of Pentecost, 3000 souls were saved. The second time Moses came down from the mountain with the new tablets of the Law, Moses put them in the Ark of the Covenant—a picture of our sins covered and forgiven because of the blood of Jesus Christ. “Also in Horeb you provoked Yahweh to wrath, and Yahweh was angry with you to destroy you. When I had gone up onto the mountain to receive the stone tablets, even the tablets of the covenant which Yahweh made with you, then I stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights. I neither ate bread nor drank water. Yahweh delivered to me the two stone tablets written with God’s finger. On them were all the words which Yahweh spoke with you on the mountain out of the middle of the fire in the day of the assembly. It came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, that Yahweh gave me the two stone tablets, even the tablets of the covenant. Yahweh said to me, “Arise, get down quickly from here; for your people whom you have brought out of Egypt have corrupted themselves. They have quickly turned aside out of the way which I commanded them. They have made a molten image for themselves!”” (Deuteronomy 9:8-12 WEB) Israel boasted in their ability to do anything that God wanted (Exodus 19). They pledged obedience to whatever contract without seeing it first. Right after that, God covered the mountain in a dark cloud and said that whoever approached would die. Before that, God never did this. What was the result of Israel’s boasting? They committed idolatry by making a golden calf to worship. Under Grace, we can draw near to God and receive more life—it is a new and living way. The blood of bulls and goats only provides a temporary covering. The blood of Jesus provides a lasting forgiveness. The blood of Jesus has made us totally righteous. God the Father is so pleased with Jesus’ finished work. We are no longer under Law, but under Grace. We are sons, not just servants. Brother Yun’s spiritual name is Samuel which his mother gave to him when he was saved at 17. God spoke to him telling him to go to the east and west to testify of Jesus. At that time, China was not as open as it is today. Chairman Mao wasn’t afraid of those who had money or power. He was afraid of those who had faith. At that time, all churches were forcibly closed and Christian pastors and preachers were thrown into prison. Yun’s mother was saved through the preaching of a Norwegian preacher, and because of the persecution, she didn’t dare to publicly confess her faith in Jesus. Those who really have encountered Jesus know that they can’t go to sleep so easily and that they have a burden to go about doing the Lord’s work in their lives. In China it’s different from the culture of the West. At that time, whatever your mother says is like the law. There is a strong belief in submission to parents. Yun couldn’t be dissuaded from his intention to preach the Gospel, so his mother had no choice but to kneel down and pray with him for protection as he shares the Gospel. Yun’s father was miraculously healed of cancer. At 17, Yun preached to a village and many signs and wonders happened. 20 people were healed and even demon-possessed people who torn their clothes were freed. At 17, Yun memorized the whole of the Gospel of Matthew. He didn’t know what to do as a believer. At that time if you preached Jesus, it was illegal and you would have been arrested by the police for being a “counter-revolutionary”. Yun was just a simple, poor farmer boy, but he was highly wanted for arrest by the state because he was seen as a counter-revolutionary. At 21, Yun had no way to go home because he was a fugitive. The people Yun evangelized to were also farmers. Even though Yun had no education, God called him to teach God’s word and make disciples. The people at that time were all quaking in fear because of impending arrest at any time. At that time there was no television, but there was radio broadcast. The state broadcaster a warning that whoever associated with Yun would be arrested. Every believer should have at least 3 Bibles: a clean one, one messy one with many annotations and notes inside, and a Bible hidden in your heart. 1 Peter 2:9 - This verse has been very important to the house churches in China. Through this, they know that they are not just simple village people, but people of Heaven. They know that they are called to intercede for their nation. God has chosen us that we might come out of darkness and sin, into the kingdom of glorious light. Many people thought that they were just simple village people. Yun told them to memorize and read God’s word. Everyone is called to testify of Jesus and witness about Him. At that time, the fire of the Holy Spirit began to burn in their hearts. Are you willing to pay the price for following Jesus? We will be persecuted for believing in the Gospel—it’s not just about receiving blessings. Are you willing to be a martyr for the Lord? Don’t just be willing to preach the Gospel—be willing to die for the Gospel if necessary. The believers in China had to memorize the Bible because if they were thrown in prison, they wouldn’t have access to a physical Bible. We need to put the word of God in our hearts. “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:” (1 Peter 2:9 WEB) Yun was arrested for his faith on Christmas Day. As he was crying out to Jesus to save, the Lord spoke in his heart: “My child, I know. Don’t be afraid.” That was the very first time he heard God call him His child. All fears melted away in an instant. What a person receives a word from the Lord, it’s forever imprinted in one’s heart. On that day of his arrest, Yun shouted “I am a Heavenly Man!” when interrogated by the police for his background. Yun was incarcerated for 4 times and spent a total of 10 years in prison for his faith. He is thankful that God gave him a precious name like “The Heavenly Man”. Yun would tell the police that he lived in “The Gospel Village”. He prophesied that China would become a Gospel village. When asked what is his father’s name, Yun would say, “Full of Grace” (满恩典). When asked what is his mother’s name, Yun would say, “Faith, Hope, Love” (信望爱） Yun would say that his older brother’s name is “Jesus is Coming Soon” (盼望耶稣再来). The Gospel is not just about prospering you. It’s like a coin with both sides. There’s also persecution that we face for our faith. Yun has two children. Their names are Isaac and Yilin. At the time when Isaac was born, Yun was arrested and thrown into prison. At that time, the state could have sentenced him to death for being a ‘counter-revolutionary’. Yun is thankful for family members that loved Jesus so much and were praying for him. At that time, in the village, they didn’t know about dating. Yun had an arranged marriage. He asked if his wife Deling would be willing to marry him as he was a preacher who followed Jesus, and she agreed. In China there was the One-Child Policy, and the state wanted to force Deling to abort her child. Deling gave birth to her son prematurely. He was only seven months of age. The guards in prison asked Yun to give his son a name. That time when Yun heard the news that his wife had given birth to a son, he cried tears of gratefulness. Yun didn’t have any worldly possessions, so he offered his life to God. Yun dedicated his son to God, and God spoke to him, telling him that his son’s name will be “Isaac”. Yun thought he wouldn’t have a chance to meet his son. He wrote a letter telling his son that he wasn’t a criminal, and that he was arrested because he believed and preached the Gospel. He encouraged his son to follow the Lord and shine as a light for Jesus. In this dark generation, Yun declared that Isaac would bring light to the world. Yun is thankful that both his children are pastors and worshippers of Jesus. Isaac is being mightily used in Germany for the Lord. There are some believers from Iran and Iraq in Isaac’s newly-established church. They believed in Jesus and were baptized in water immediately. At that time in China, many believers turned their back on Jesus and even persecuted Christians. Yun’s in-laws mocked his family for their faith. Instead of feeling angry, Yun was determined to love them. Yilin got her name from the Biblical story whereby the children of Israel passed by a place called Mara and Elim in the wilderness. Bitterness gives birth to dissent and gives birth to lies. All these come from Satan. We don’t want to be born in Mara (bitterness). Elim was a place near to Mara. Goodness of God - Bethel Music When you hear the Gospel, it’s not just about listening through, but listening in, so that the revelation goes into your heart. The world gives us bad news, but the house of God gives us a different perspective. The house of God is the gate of Heaven. Angels come up and down Jacob’s ladder (Jesus) to carry our prayers to God and bring blessings down to us. God wants us to renew our minds. It’s not about what we do, it’s about what we believe. The Lord wants His people to slow down before it’s too late. Leopards run fast but live short lives. Be like a relaxed camel or tortoise that lives long. 50% of residents in Singapore feel stressed out at the thought of doing nothing. People cannot rest. People have a fear of missing out (FOMO) on what is going on in the world. 52% feel stuck in their daily routines. 74% wish they could spend more time with their family and loved ones. People are procrastinating their rest until they receive the breakthroughs in life they are waiting for — it is costing their health and relationship. Even when people go for vacations overseas, some are still so busy trying to rush to tourist attractions, still in work-mode. Many arguments arise because of unrest in the heart, causing an unpleasant tone in speech. Don’t replace Jesus in your life, even with ministry.
