30 August 2020 - Bear Fruit to God Under Grace - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Sermon NotesPastor Joseph Prince taught that when a person tries to keep the Law, the sinful passions in the flesh are aroused, causing that person to sin. The only way to bear fruit to God is through Grace who is the person of Jesus Christ. Praise and worship songs performed: 1. I See Grace - New Creation Worship 2. When I Look Into Your Holiness - Integrity’s Hosanna! Music 3. In Whom I Can Trust - Steven Wee 4. I Look To You - Robert S. Kelly The “now word” that God is speaking is the rhema word. The Scriptures in general is the logos word—the written word. When you are well-read in the logos word, the Holy Spirit can speak to you from within through the rhema word. Enjoy God’s word and feed on it. Spend time in God’s word until your heart leaps with joy. 2 Corinthians 3:6-7 - The Ten Commandments were the only part of the Law engraved on stones. Peter called Paul’s letters “Scripture”. The Law is holy but it cannot make man holy. The Law demands everything but gives nothing. Grace demands nothing but gives everything. When the Law was given, three thousand people died at the foot of Mount Sinai. When God gave the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost, three thousand people were saved and received eternal life. The Law kills whereas Grace gives life. The Greek word for life is “Zoe”. It is quality life. When someone receives God’s word, God “quickens” that person with His power. Grace is like a good conductor of blessings whereas the Law is like an insulator of God’s blessings. The descending love is always greater than the ascending love—God’s love is always greater than your love for Him. “who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away,” (II Corinthians 3:6-7 NKJV) No one has ever loved God with all his mind, soul and strength. Only one man did that: Jesus. The Father opened the heavens to Jesus and said, “You are my beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased.” He only did that to Jesus and no one else. Always see God supplying you the Grace for whatever you’re doing. That is how to live the life of Grace practically. Jesus said to Martha, “Martha, Martha, you are worried about many things.” The root word of the one translated as worried is “Merimnao” in Greek which means “to be distracted”. Don’t be distracted by worries, stress and fears. Focus on Jesus and receive His grace. Attack your problems one day at a day. Trust that God’s supply of Grace will be there when you come to that point in time. Allow yourself to be present in every situation. To live under Grace is to believe that God is always supplying what you need. Galatians 3:1-2 - The word “bewitched” is a strong word which literally refers to witchcraft. The Holy Spirit is given because Jesus was crucified, raised and glorified—not because you are extra holy by your works. In the Old Testament, some saints had the Holy Spirit on them, but not in them. He would perform His purpose and then leave them. Today, we have the Holy Spirit permanently in us. “Foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you not to obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was openly portrayed among you as crucified? I just want to learn this from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by hearing of faith?” (Galatians 3:1-2 WEB)

The apostle Paul called the Ten Commandments the "ministry of death" and the "ministry of condemnation". Under the Law, there is only death, but under Grace, sin shall have no dominion over us! Praise and worship songs performed: 1. Give Me This Mountain - New Creation Worship 2. What a Beautiful Name - Hillsong Music 3. No One Ever Cared for me Like Jesus No one except God knows how long this pandemic situation will last. It’s important for us to move in sync with the Lord. Flow with Him. If He leads you to rest, do so. During the lockdown, what we experienced was like how the children of Israel spent a time of togetherness and rest at home during the Sabbaths. The reason that was given for Israel to be exiled to Babylon was that Israel didn’t allow the land to enjoy its Sabbath rests. When the land lies fallow, it becomes fertile again. Our spirit and soul came from God’s breath, but our body was made from the dust of the ground. Our body needs to rest. Salvation happens when you rest in what Jesus has done. You can’t work for your salvation. Noah was confined in the ark for a long time. While this happened, God was preparing a new world for mankind, and Noah was the immediate beneficiary. We are yoked to Jesus, like a younger ox yoked to a stronger, older ox. We must flow with what He’s doing, if not we will suffer from a sore neck. Jesus said that His yoke is easy and His burden is light. The side chamber of the temple of Solomon: The first floor is the storage for grain, wine and oil. The second floor contains the sleeping quarters for the priests. The third floor is the treasury which stores the gold, silver and tithes. These three floors reflect what’s going to happen in year 2020 for the church of Jesus Christ. We are still in the second floor, and we will move into the third floor towards the end of the year. 1 Corinthians 11:23 - Paul received a direct revelation about the Holy Communion from Jesus, not from the other apostles. Continue to partake of the Holy Communion and expect His healing power to flow. “For I received from the Lord that which also I delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night in which he was betrayed took bread.” (1 Corinthians 11:23 WEB) Gold primarily represents the righteousness and divinity of God. Silver represents redemption. But gold is also provision. God always foresees the needs you will have. Yahweh Yireh—the God who sees (your need). When Abraham was bringing Isaac up to Mount Moriah, God was probably leading the ram up from the other side of the mountain. 16 August 2020 - The Law Kills While Grace Gives Life - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Sermon NotesPastor Joseph Prince taught us how God's heart is not in executing judgment, but in supplying Grace to man. The Law of Moses is the ministry of condemnation that kills, while Grace is the ministry of the Holy Spirit which gives life! Praise and worship songs performed: 1. Glorious and Beautiful - New Creation Worship 2. Here I Am to Worship - Time Hughes Romans 3:19-20 - The Law is called the ministry of condemnation. It produces death because man has no ability to keep the Law. God designed for the Law to bring man to despair so that no man can boast. Every mouth is stopped and every man is considered guilty before God. “Now we know that whatever things the law says, it speaks to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be closed, and all the world may be brought under the judgment of God. Because by the works of the law, no flesh will be justified in his sight. For through the law comes the knowledge of sin.” (Romans 3:19-20 WEB) Romans 6:14 - In the Old Covenant, you have to do to become. In the New Covenant, you become first, and then you do. You start from being complete in Christ and then we are told to walk out that completeness. The Law demands from man. Grace supplies to man. Under Grace, sin has no dominion over us. Under the Law, God says “You shall not...” Man is expected to do. Under Grace, God says “I will...” He is the one doing. “For sin will not have dominion over you. For you are not under law, but under grace.” (Romans 6:14 WEB) 2 Corinthians 3:6-7 - When the Law was given, three thousand people died. When the Holy Spirit was given, three thousand souls were saved. The letter (the Law) kills, whereas the Spirit (through Grace) gives life. The Ten Commandments is the only part of the Law that was engraved on stones. The rest of the commandments and statutes were written on parchments. “who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away,” (II Corinthians 3:6-7 NKJV) 1 Corinthians 15:56 - The more you try to keep the Law, the more you will stir up sin your life. God allowed this so that man would understand that sinful nature in them. The fruits of the Holy Spirit comes as a fruit of Grace. Grace is not behavior modification, but heart transformation. Those who try to keep the Law have a pseudo-morality but they don’t have it in their heart to keep the Law. When no one is looking, they revert to their sinful behavior. “The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.” (1 Corinthians 15:56 WEB) 2 Corinthians 3:7-9 - The ministry of condemnation (the Law) has glory, but the ministry of the Spirit (Grace) exceeds much more in glory. Some revivals in modern times were based on preaching of the Law. The Law has glory but it passes away. “But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away, how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious? For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory.” (II Corinthians 3:7-9 NKJV) Original Short Story: CIC (Centre for Identity Customization)In a technologically-advanced world, how far can customization go without being insanity? The upcoming generations will demand and expect intense customization and personalization. The new generation of youth doesn’t like social constructs and want to be free to do whatever they want. It’s a destructive mindset. I believe that society needs rules and foundation to thrive. This is an original short story I submitted for a short story contest and I did not win any prize. I thought of sharing it here! Hope you enjoy it. When we are demand-minded and under condemnation, it leads to stress and manifestations of death. God's solution is: to receive an abundance of Grace so that we are supply-minded instead! Praise and worship songs performed: 1. Latter Rain - New Creation Worship 2. King of Kings - Hillsong Music Even nations have destinies in God. Psalm 91:5-6 - Really meditate and believe in Psalms 91. There’s more reports of asymptomatic (meaning no detectable symptoms) cases of COVID-19 springing up. God will even protect you from the pestilence that’s walks in darkness! “You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day; nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that wastes at noonday.” (Psalms 91:5-6 WEB) There was a soldier whose regiment meditated on and confessed Psalm 91 during the world war. None of the soldiers in that regiment died on the battlefield! The Bible says that there are things you can do that shorten or lengthen your lifespan. The worshipful fear of the Lord prolongs your life. Honor your father and mother and you will live long on the earth. Romans 6:23 - The moment you placed your faith in Jesus and were born-again, you stepped into eternal life. Eternal life is the quality of life which God Himself lives by. Pastor Prince doesn’t believe in “conversion” because it implies man’s ability in doing it. No, we are born-again through the Holy Spirit. “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23 WEB) 1 Thessalonians 4:17 - We are looking forward to the Rapture which is imminent. We will receive immortal, glorified bodies when Jesus returns for His church. It’s one thing to be alive because you are young, but to “remain” denotes power. The end-time generation that will see Jesus’ return will have the power to remain alive. “Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.” (1 Thessalonians 4:17 KJV) The Ten Commandments of the Law written on stones is the ministry of condemnation which produces death. Grace is God working and supplying, whereas The Law is man working and trying to meet demands. We are under Grace, not under the Law. Moses’ tabernacle has three components. Outside the tabernacle, there is sunlight. This is the light that is available to the world. In the tabernacle’s holy place, there is light from the lamp stand. This is light only available to the church. Thirdly, there is light from the Shekinah glory in the Holy of Holies. This is where believers should step into and receive light from. Outside the tabernacle, everything is busy. This is a picture of our body. But inside the Holy of Holies, there is perfect peace and quietness. This is a picture of our spirit. We are Tripartite beings, made in God’s image. You are a spirit that has a soul (your mind, will and emotions) and who lives in a container called the body. Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. The things which you can see are temporal. The things which are invisible are eternal. If you have a tumor in your body, it’s temporal. But God’s promises of healing are eternal. Lamentations 3:33 - Man’s thoughts towards God are rebellion and unbelief. But God’s thoughts towards man are love, compassion and mercy. “For he does not afflict willingly, nor grieve the children of men.” (Lamentations 3:33 WEB) 2 August 2020 - Yahweh is your Portion - Pastor Lawrence Lim Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Sermon NotesPastor Lawrence Lim encouraged us with a timely sermon brimming with Biblical hope. Because the Lord Yahweh is your portion, everything that He has and that He is also belongs to you! Confess that and expect good things to happen to you every day. Praise and worship songs performed: 1. Give Me This Mountain - New Creation Worship 2. Here I Bow - Bethel Music James 4:13-14 - Life is vulnerable to sudden change. This COVID-19 pandemic has shown it. “Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow let’s go into this city, and spend a year there, trade, and make a profit.” Whereas you don’t know what your life will be like tomorrow. For what is your life? For you are a vapor, that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away.” (James 4:13-14 WEB) Despite the troubles around, the Lord is still with you. He is for you and He loves you. The children of Israel were in Egypt but they were not afflicted by the plagues that struck the Egyptians. We are in the world but not of the world. Psalm 42:5 - When the world says “hope”, they use it to refer to something they desire to have, but are unsure whether it will come true. But Biblical hope is a confident expectation of good things to come. It means you will surely have what you prayed for. Even though you feel frustrated, disappointed or cast down, remind yourself to hope in God. “Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him for the saving help of his presence.” (Psalms 42:5 WEB) Psalm 23:4 - Always remember that God is with you, even in dark seasons. Shepherds use the rod to fend off wolves that try to attack the flock. The rod represents God’s protection against enemies. The shepherd uses the staff to direct the sheep back to the right path. The staff represents God’s guidance. “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” (Psalms 23:4 WEB) Psalm 119:105 - God’s word is the staff that guides us. “Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path.” (Psalms 119:105 WEB) |
