23 August 2020 - Cleanse yourself from the Touch of Death - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Sermon Notes

Pastor Joseph Prince taught us how to avoid touching death. The apostle Paul called the Ten Commandments the "ministry of death" and the "ministry of condemnation". Under the Law, there is only death, but under Grace, sin shall have no dominion over us!

No one except God knows how long this pandemic situation will last. It’s important for us to move in sync with the Lord. Flow with Him. If He leads you to rest, do so.

During the lockdown, what we experienced was like how the children of Israel spent a time of togetherness and rest at home during the Sabbaths.

The reason that was given for Israel to be exiled to Babylon was that Israel didn’t allow the land to enjoy its Sabbath rests.
When the land lies fallow, it becomes fertile again.

Our spirit and soul came from God’s breath, but our body was made from the dust of the ground. Our body needs to rest.

Salvation happens when you rest in what Jesus has done. You can’t work for your salvation.

Noah was confined in the ark for a long time. While this happened, God was preparing a new world for mankind, and Noah was the immediate beneficiary.

We are yoked to Jesus, like a younger ox yoked to a stronger, older ox. We must flow with what He’s doing, if not we will suffer from a sore neck.
Jesus said that His yoke is easy and His burden is light.

The side chamber of the temple of Solomon:
The first floor is the storage for grain, wine and oil.
The second floor contains the sleeping quarters for the priests.
The third floor is the treasury which stores the gold, silver and tithes.

These three floors reflect what’s going to happen in year 2020 for the church of Jesus Christ. We are still in the second floor, and we will move into the third floor towards the end of the year.

1 Corinthians 11:23 - Paul received a direct revelation about the Holy Communion from Jesus, not from the other apostles.
Continue to partake of the Holy Communion and expect His healing power to flow.

“For I received from the Lord that which also I delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night in which he was betrayed took bread.” (1 Corinthians‬ ‭11:23‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Gold primarily represents the righteousness and divinity of God. Silver represents redemption.
But gold is also provision.

God always foresees the needs you will have. Yahweh Yireh—the God who sees (your need). When Abraham was bringing Isaac up to Mount Moriah, God was probably leading the ram up from the other side of the mountain.

Putting yourself under the Ten Commandments of the Law is touching death

Amos 8:11 - In these last days, there is a famine of hearing God’s word. We need to keep hearing the rhema word of God through anointed preaching.

“Behold, the days come,” says the Lord Yahweh, “that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing Yahweh’s words.” (Amos‬ ‭8:11‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

James 1:21 - As you hear God’s word attentively, have an attitude of expectancy to receive from the Lord.
God has ordained that through the simplicity of preaching, His power to save (sozo) will flow into your life.

“Therefore, putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.” (James‬ ‭1:21‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Sickness and weakness are manifestations of death.
There is also a “second death” which is when a person is cast into the lake of fire.
Those who are born once will die twice. Those who are born twice will die only once.

The Book of Leviticus talks about five offerings which are pictures of Jesus’ atoning sacrifice at the cross.
In the Book of Numbers, there’s another offering of the red heifer (female cow).
It’s offered when a person touches death (a corpse or carcass) and becomes defiled.
The red heifer is a picture of Jesus.
The ashes of the red heifer has to be applied on the person who touched death, so as to cleanse him.
We need the work of Jesus at the cross to be applied to our lives.

Sometimes we touch the things of the enemy and that’s “touching death”. For example, reading New-Age teachings.
We need to saturate ourselves in God’s word to apply its power to ourselves and cleanse ourselves from death that we touched.

2 Corinthians 3:7-9 - Only the Ten Commandments were engraved on stones.
Those who put themselves under the Law are subjecting themselves to the ministry of death and condemnation.
New Testament righteousness is not about what you do. Righteousness is a gift that you receive.
There is a once-and-for-all positional sanctification (being born-again as a righteous spirit), and also a progressive sanctification which is holy living.

“But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away, how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious? For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory.” (II Corinthians‬ ‭3:7-9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

Luke 16:16 - In the Old Testament, Elijah was a minister of condemnation. The last minister of condemnation was John the Baptist.

“The law and the prophets were until John. From that time the Good News of God’s Kingdom is preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it.” (Luke‬ ‭16:16‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

John 1:17 - Jesus brought in the New Covenant of Grace.
The Gospel of Grace is not about behavior modification, but heart transformation.
If the root is right, the fruit will be right.
When your roots go deeper, the fruits get better.

“For the law was given through Moses. Grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ.” (John‬ ‭1:17‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Deuteronomy 1:27 - Among the children of Israel, no one died from Egypt to Sinai. The people murmured and complained, but no one died.
The children of Israel never ceased to complain, even until the fortieth year of their wandering.
The people thought that God hated them.
They never had a revelation of God’s love.
When the children of Israel murmured at Red Sea, God opened the sea and destroyed their enemies.
When the children of Israel murmured at the bitter waters of Mara, God made the waters sweet.
When they murmured that there was no food, God rained down manna from Heaven.
When the children of Israel murmured that there was no water, God poured out rivers of water for them to drink.
It’s almost like every fresh complaint brought fresh supply of God’s goodness.
God was demonstrating His grace.
He was dealing with the children of Israel based on the unconditional covenant He made with Abraham.
At the foot of Mount Sinai, the children of Israel boasted that they could do whatever God commanded them to do.
They wanted to be blessed based on their obedience, not based on God’s unconditional goodness.
That’s why the Law was given: to show that man is unable to be blessed based on their own obedience.

“You murmured in your tents, and said, “Because Yahweh hated us, he has brought us out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us.” (Deuteronomy‬ ‭1:27‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 3:20 - The Law gives the knowledge of sin, not of righteousness.

“Because by the works of the law, no flesh will be justified in his sight. For through the law comes the knowledge of sin.” (Romans‬ ‭3:20‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

1 Corinthians 15:56 - The strength/power of sin is the Law.

“The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.” (1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:56‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 6:14 - Nothing from the fall will have dominion over you when you are under Grace.
When you try to put yourself under the Law, sin will have dominion over you.

“For sin will not have dominion over you. For you are not under law, but under grace.” (Romans‬ ‭6:14‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 6:1-2 - A true believer may fall into sin but he won’t live in sin as a lifestyle. He has died to sin and can’t live in it.

“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? May it never be! We who died to sin, how could we live in it any longer?” (Romans‬ ‭6:1-2‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

After the Law was given, the first thing that happened was that children of Israel made a golden molten calf.
It was a violation of the first of the Ten Commandments, which says that Israel shall not have any other gods.
The Jewish people say that the giving of the Ten Commandments was the first Pentecost.

After the children of Israel received the Law at Mount Sinai, they died when they murmured and complained.

In the Book of James, it says that if you break one of the Ten Commandments, you are guilty of breaking them all.

Romans 5:12-14 - Sin was already in the world before the Law was given. But it was not charged (imputed) to the people when there was no Law yet.
Death reigned from Adam to Moses (the giving of the Law).
Looking at the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah and the flood during Noah’s time, how can we say that sin was not charged?
Those judgments happened because Satan was trying to stop the Promised Seed (Jesus the Messiah) from coming.
Action had to be taken to stop any obstacles that would prevent the Promised Seed from coming.
During Noah’s time, Satan tried to corrupt the human gene pool by having fallen angels cohabit with human women, resulting in the birth of a type of hybrid creature called Nephilim (giants).

“Therefore as sin entered into the world through one man, and death through sin; and so death passed to all men, because all sinned. For until the law, sin was in the world; but sin is not charged when there is no law. Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those whose sins weren’t like Adam’s disobedience, who is a foreshadowing of him who was to come.” (Romans‬ ‭5:12-14‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Hebrews 10:1-3 - Under the Law, there is only reminder of sins.
Under Grace, there is reminder of our righteousness in Christ.
When we partake of the Lord’s Supper we are reminded that we are righteous because of Jesus’ finished work at the cross.

“For the law, having a shadow of the good to come, not the very image of the things, can never with the same sacrifices year by year, which they offer continually, make perfect those who draw near. Or else wouldn’t they have ceased to be offered, because the worshipers, having been once cleansed, would have had no more consciousness of sins? But in those sacrifices there is a yearly reminder of sins.” (Hebrews‬ ‭10:1-3‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Hi,

I hope you're well. So, I am currently training with God and I struggle with going with the flow of what He's doing.

You shared, "We are yoked to Jesus, like a younger ox yoked to a stronger, older ox. We must flow with what He’s doing, if not we will suffer from a sore neck."

Is this true in real life? Have you experienced this? Because I have been experiencing a sore neck for the past few weeks when I don't do what God wants me to do.

How can I flow with God better? I don't want to keep hurting myself by going out of flow with Him.
