19 July 2020 - Speak and See God’s Gracious Provision - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Sermon NotesPastor Joseph Prince shared how we can simply speak and see God's gracious provision flow in our lives, because Jesus was smitten on our behalf at the cross and is now seated in Heaven as our great High Priest! Praise and worship songs performed: 1. Way Maker - Sinach 2. I Want To Sing Until I Am Lost In Your Love - Malcolm du Plessis 3. You Alone - Don Harris 4. People Need the Lord - Greg Nelson Every good and perfect gift is from above. God has no virus in Heaven to give the world. But He is allowing these things to happen for the good of His people. Pastor Prince received a word from the Lord: “I want the church to reach beyond its four walls (of church buildings). I want the Gospel of Jesus Christ to go online and reach the four corners of the earth, because time is short (before Jesus’ return).” 1 Thessalonians 1 - We are seeing many end-time signs, like birth pangs of a woman, indicating that Jesus’ return is nearer than ever. The posture of a believer is not to look towards the grave but to look towards the sky for Jesus’ return. There is no death or sickness in Jesus’ kingdom. We are only waiting for one last part of our redemption: our bodily redemption. We will receive a physical glorified body that will never die. “and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who delivers us from the wrath to come.” (1 Thessalonians 1:10 WEB) When you come in line with what God is doing, and give of your resources towards that purpose, God will surely prosper you. 1 Kings 17:9 - When a channel in your life dries up, go “there”. God will lead you to a new channel of His supply. ““Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and stay there. Behold, I have commanded a widow there to sustain you.”” (1 Kings 17:9 WEB) Hebrews 4:1 - Our promised land is rest in Christ. Local churches need to repent (change their minds) about the way they conduct church services. They need to go “there” in this season. “Let us fear therefore, lest perhaps anyone of you should seem to have come short of a promise of entering into his rest.” (Hebrews 4:1 WEB) Soul-prosperity comes from knowing Jesus. Numbers 20:3-12 - The fortieth (final) year of wandering in the wilderness commenced with the death of Miriam. She was Moses’ sister and precious to the children of Israel. They felt like they lost someone precious. When God brings you out of somewhere, it’s just a transitional (interim) period. He’s going to bring you into somewhere else. The children of Israel saw God’s faithfulness to them throughout the forty years of wandering, and yet they still murmured against Him. When people complain against you, it’s a good approach to fall on your face before God and find out His mind about it. The God of the Old Testament is the same God as the one in the New Testament. In the Old Testament times, God could only show His back parts because of man’s sin. He was always leaving man. But His heart is full of love and man’s sin barred the full expression of that love. Now after Jesus’ finished work at the cross, God’s love can abound unceasingly towards you. Jesus’ death removed the barrier of sin between God and man. Jesus’ death fulfilled all the righteous requirements of the Law, so that God is now righteous in being gracious towards us. Jesus is the fullest expression of who God is. When the woman with the issue of blood touched the hem of Jesus’ garment, she was healed. Jesus turned around because He didn’t want her to feel like she stole her healing. Instead of only seeing His back parts, the woman saw His face and heard about God’s love for her. God wants you to be well more than you want to be well. Aaron and Moses were brothers. The patriarchs had rods. Moses had a rod that turned into a serpent and also was used to part the Red Sea. It is clear that God was referring to the rod of Aaron in this passage, and not the rod of Moses. When some of the children of Israel rebelled against Moses and Aaron’s leadership, God showed that He chose Aaron by making Aaron’s rod bud with almonds. How can a dead rod bud? Almond is a picture of resurrection. It is a picture of Jesus’ death and resurrection. The rod of Aaron was placed in the Ark of the Covenant in the Tabernacle. The word “rock” in the passage is “sela” which means “high cliff”. Now Jesus has ascended to Heaven and is far above every principality and power. Now you don’t need to ask Jesus to come down when you sin or are in need. The rock doesn’t need to be smitten twice. Just speak to the rock (Christ) and your provision would flow. Moses failed and wasn’t allowed to enter the promised land. Moses represents the Law. Joshua’s (Yehoshua) name is similar to Yeshua. Only Jesus can bring you into the promised land. You can’t enter by trying to keep the Law of Moses. Moses dealt harshly with the people, against God’s will. They couldn’t see God but could only see His representative. God wanted to honor Moses and Aaron and give them the opportunity to be honored in front of the children of Israel. Imagine if Aaron had just spoken to the rock, causing the water to flow out abundantly. Moses hit the rock with his own rod of judgment. You can’t hit the rock with Aaron’s rod because it would spoil and the almond blossoms would fall off. Despite Moses’ grievous sin of misrepresenting God, God still poured out water from the rock abundantly. If Moses would not sanctify Him in the eyes of the people, He would still do it Himself. In the Rabbinical writings, it says that the first time Moses struck the rock, blood came out. The second time he hit it, water came out. They would never write something that purposely confirms Christianity. Showing God’s Grace to the people is the way to sanctify God in the eyes of the people. “The people quarreled with Moses, and spoke, saying, “We wish that we had died when our brothers died before Yahweh! Why have you brought Yahweh’s assembly into this wilderness, that we should die there, we and our animals? Why have you made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in to this evil place? It is no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there any water to drink.” Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly to the door of the Tent of Meeting, and fell on their faces. Yahweh’s glory appeared to them. Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, “Take the rod, and assemble the congregation, you, and Aaron your brother, and speak to the rock before their eyes, that it pour out its water. You shall bring water to them out of the rock; so you shall give the congregation and their livestock drink.” Moses took the rod from before Yahweh, as he commanded him. Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock, and he said to them, “Hear now, you rebels! Shall we bring water out of this rock for you?” Moses lifted up his hand, and struck the rock with his rod twice, and water came out abundantly. The congregation and their livestock drank. Yahweh said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you didn’t believe in me, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.”” (Numbers 20:3-12 WEB) John 19:34-35 - At the cross, blood and water poured out from Jesus. The rock that Moses hit twice is a picture of Jesus Christ. “However one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. He who has seen has testified, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, that you may believe.” (John 19:34-35 WEB)
