24 May 2020 - The Fragrance of Christ Stops the Plague - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Sermon Notes

Pastor Joseph Prince taught how Aaron's incense is a picture of the perfections of our Lord Jesus Christ. When you remind Abba God about Jesus, lifting up prayers as fragrant incense to Him, every evil plague in your life stops in their tracks!

Sit down and meditate on Jesus’ words, just like Mary sat down at Jesus’ feet. Martha was worried and complaining because she didn’t sit down to listen to Jesus first.

Read healing testimonies. It imparts faith to you. Before you go for a doctor’s checkup, prepare yourself this way.

In this season of quarantine and lockdown, many people are battling with loneliness and depression. It is caused by a spirit of heaviness.

Bible hope is not about wishing for good things to happen. Bible hope is a positive expectation of good things to come.

Partaking of the Holy Communion with a fresh revelation can set you free from bondages like depression.

Your future is as bright as God’s favor and His Grace.

Pastor Prince prayed for people who are suffering from depression to be set free.
Even after you just received healing, there may be counterattacks that come.
Don’t trust the lies of the devil—fill your mind and heart with the truths of God’s word.

Numbers 16:41-48 - Prophetically-speaking, this passage foreshadows how Jesus’ finished work at the cross would usher in a new day.
Grace stops sin. It is the goodness of God that leads us to repentance in Christ Jesus.
When you live under Grace, you will bear the fruits of the Holy Spirit.
Rebels like Korah and Abiram and their people murmured against Moses and Aaron.
In judgment of that sin, the earth opened up and swallowed those rebels up.
The next day, the congregation of the children of Israel didn’t seem to learn from what they saw the day before.
Good leaders fall on their faces in prayer for their people.
Don’t wish evil on anyone, even if they persecute you. Pray for God to bless them and deal with them mercifully and graciously.
There’s never been such a plague in modern history that caused such a worldwide effect and shutting down of things than this COVID-19 virus.
Job didn’t have a mediator between God and him. We cannot compare ourselves exactly with Job.
Today, we have Jesus as our Mediator and High Priest who is interceding on our behalf.
Jesus’ priesthood is in the order of Melchizedek—a priesthood of blessing with no curse.
The incense is a picture of the perfections of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The work of redemption is not just about removing our sins. God removed our sins to fill that empty place with His glory.
The Old Covenant of the Law was an ‘old and dying way’. If the high priest didn’t make proper preparations, he would be struck dead in the Holy of Holies.
Under Grace, coming to God is a “new and living way”—see Jesus freshly slain for you, and receive a fresh impartation of life from God.
Aaron—the very high priest that the people complained against, saved them by standing in the middle with the incense.
When you remind God about Jesus and His finished work at the cross, every evil plague in your life stops.

“But on the next day all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron, saying, “You have killed Yahweh’s people!” When the congregation was assembled against Moses and against Aaron, They looked toward the Tent of Meeting. Behold, the cloud covered it, and Yahweh’s glory appeared. Moses and Aaron came to the front of the Tent of Meeting. Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, “Get away from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment!” They fell on their faces. Moses said to Aaron, “Take your censer, and put fire from off the altar in it, and lay incense on it, and carry it quickly to the congregation, and make atonement for them; for wrath has gone out from Yahweh! The plague has begun.” Aaron did as Moses said, and ran into the middle of the assembly. Behold, the plague has begun among the people. He put on the incense, and made atonement for the people. He stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed.” (Numbers‬ ‭16:41-48‬ ‭WEB)

The incense is a picture of the perfections of our Lord Jesus Christ

Exodus 30:34-36 - Gum resin has the meaning of “a drop—to preach and prophesy”.
The original Hebrew word for onycha, shecheleth, has the meaning of roaring like a lion, like the Lion of Judah, our Lord Jesus Christ.
Sometimes in prayers we ask (petition), and at other times, we command in Jesus' name when we clearly know God's will in the situation.
In the Gospel of Matthew, we see Jesus portrayed as the Lion.
In the Gospel of Mark, we see Jesus as the tireless servant, portrayed as an Ox.
In the Gospel of Luke, we see Jesus referred to as the “Son of Man” more often than elsewhere. He is portrayed as a Man. Jesus is both God and Man.
Jesus is our High Priest—it takes a man to be a high priest.
In the Gospel of John, we see Jesus’ deity. He is portrayed as the eagle. As a Man, He was born. As God, He was given to us.
Galbanum refers to the fat—a picture of the best portion.
Nowadays, fat has a bad reputation, but in the Bible, the fat is a good thing.
When Jesus was born, the wise men brought gifts to Him: gold, myrrh and frankincense. Gold is a picture of Jesus’ deity, myrrh is a picture of His death, and frankincense is a picture of Jesus’ perfections—fragrant to God.
Beat some of it very small has a picture of concentrated fragrant droplets—every act and word of our Lord Jesus.

“Yahweh said to Moses, “Take to yourself sweet spices, gum resin, and onycha, and galbanum; sweet spices with pure frankincense: there shall be an equal weight of each; and you shall make incense of it, a perfume after the art of the perfumer, seasoned with salt, pure and holy: and you shall beat some of it very small, and put some of it before the testimony in the Tent of Meeting, where I will meet with you. It shall be to you most holy.” (Exodus‬ ‭30:34-36‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Numbers 18:28-29 - In the heave and wave offerings, the breast meat and thigh are lifted to God—a picture of God’s love and power working on our behalf.
The word “best” is same as the word galbanum—the idea of fat.
In the New Testament, Sunday is referred to as “the Lord’s day”.
We give the first day of the week as our best portion to God.

“Thus you also shall offer a wave offering to Yahweh of all your tithes, which you receive of the children of Israel; and of it you shall give Yahweh’s wave offering to Aaron the priest. Out of all your gifts, you shall offer every wave offering of Yahweh, of all its best, even the holy part of it out of it.’” (Numbers‬ ‭18:28-29‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Colossians 4:6 - When you speak with grace, you are seasoning your speech with salt.
Don’t speak to people saying what they deserve—extend grace as much as possible.
In the Old Testament, every sacrifice is seasoned with salt.
A “salt covenant” in the Old Testament represents a covenant that continues perpetually.

“Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.” (Colossians‬ ‭4:6‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Song of Solomon 4:11 - Jesus’ words are sweet, like concentrated drops of honey.

“Your lips, my bride, drip like the honeycomb. Honey and milk are under your tongue. The smell of your garments is like the smell of Lebanon.” (Song of Solomon‬ ‭4:11‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 8:28-29 - Everything—both good and bad, are working together for your good.
Bad things are not from God, but He will use it to bring about good for you.
Jacob thought that all things were against him, but actually the things were working for his good—Joseph his son was preparing good provisions for his father.
God didn’t create some people to be saved and some to be lost.
He foreknew who would accept Jesus Christ as Lord, and who wouldn’t.
For those who would use their free will to have faith in Jesus, God predestined them to be conformed to the image of Jesus.

“We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. For whom he foreknew, he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.” (Romans‬ ‭8:28-29‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Jesus is beautifully equipoised (perfectly balanced), like fine flour. There’s nothing coarse or imperfect about Him.
When He’s firm, He’s not harsh. When He’s tender, He’s not indulging.
When Jesus corrects, He does so lovingly. When Jesus praises, He doesn’t flatter.
Jesus is both steel and velvet.

Revelation 5:8 - God doesn’t look for perfect words when you pray.
When you prayer ascends to Heaven, your High Priest Jesus removes what is superfluous and adds His fragrance and perfections to it, before presenting your prayer to God the Father.
When you pray, you’re transcending time and space.
Through Jesus, your prayers are most eloquent than you think.

“Now when he had taken the book, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.” (Revelation‬ ‭5:8‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Psalm 141:2 - Your prayers are like sweet incense to God. Let the world smell the aroma of Jesus Christ.
In the Middle East, they use incense to keep away snakes—snakes don’t like incense.
Your prayers repel the attacks of the devil.

“Let my prayer be set before you like incense; the lifting up of my hands like the evening sacrifice.” (Psalms‬ ‭141:2‬ ‭WEB‬‬)
