17 May 2020 - Does God Allow Christians to Go Through Troubles? - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Sermon NotesPastor Joseph Prince affirmed that God definitely doesn't tempt anyone to sin. Sometimes trouble comes because of mistakes of our own making, such as failing to pray for protection from troubles, but at other times God does allow troubles sent by the devil to 'child-train' you for your profit. After the trouble ends, there is an "after". The evil day is short, but the good days are long! Jesus wants you to have a robust enjoyment of life—He wants you to have life and life more abundantly. He wants you to enjoy long life and see good days. When the Bible says talks about "the evil day" (Ephesians 6), it’s just singular. The evil afflictions sent by the devil will be short, but good days will be long! 2 Corinthians 11:18 - All of God’s promises are yes and amen for us. If it’s not clearly stated that a promise is unique for a certain person/nation only (example: Israel), then it is for you too. “But as God is faithful, our word toward you was not “Yes and no.” For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, by me, Silvanus, and Timothy, was not “Yes and no,” but in him is “Yes.” For however many are the promises of God, in him is the “Yes.” Therefore also through him is the “Amen”, to the glory of God through us.” (2 Corinthians 1:18-20 WEB) The protection promises in Psalm 91 are yours to enjoy. Say “Amen” to them to release your faith in the promise. Mary said “Amen” to the words of archangel Gabriel and she bore the Messiah. When you say “Amen”, then the promise becomes real in your life. Because of Christ, God says yes to any of the promises in His word. Don’t listen to sermons that say that only some of these promises are for you, and that others are not for you. When Jesus prayed the Lord’s Prayer, He used certain terms. Let your kingdom “come” and let your will be “done”. We are not commanding God—we are lining up our spoken words with God’s will. If you want to know what is God’s will, look at Heaven. Is there sickness or poverty there? No. Then you can pray for healing and provision—it is God’s will. That’s what it means to pray for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Is there persecution for a believer? Yes, but you can pray for God to deliver you from it. Many believers are wondering if God wants you to pray for deliverance from a trouble that you’re experiencing. If you believe right, you will live right. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth. He cannot testify to a lie. He cannot testify if you’re still calling yourself a sinner. You’re the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. The epistle to the Hebrews says that if a sacrifice has worked, there is no need for another reminder of sins. It shows that the Old Covenant sacrifices are unable to purge the people of their consciousness of sins. But Jesus already paid for all our sins with the once-for-all-time offering of Himself at the cross. Partaking of the Lord’s Supper in an unworthy manner means that you are not discerning the Lord’s body—the body and blood of Christ. The Corinthian church was treating the Lord’s Supper like a time to enjoy ‘happy hour’, getting themselves drunk with the wine, and eating the bread like eating a meal to fill their stomachs, instead of contemplating on the Lord’s death. Repentance is not just about being sorrowful. Judas Iscariot was sorrowful and he hung himself. Repentance means turning to Jesus. Peter betrayed Jesus and he still turned to Jesus.
