3 May 2020 - How to Prosper Amid the Financial Famine - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Sermon Notes

A worldwide financial famine is coming, and believers need to sow seeds now to have plentiful harvests of provision in the time of famine. There is an end-time deception that because God is good, there's no need to tithe or give. Conform to God's ways and He will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus!

Colossians 2:5 - Sitting at Jesus’ feet to receive from Him is the most important thing to do each day.
Our spiritual feeding on Sundays sets the tone for the rest of the week.

“For though I am absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, rejoicing and seeing your order, and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ.” (Colossians‬ ‭2:5‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

In Luke 24, Jesus expounded the Scriptures to the two disciples, about the things concerning Himself.
His true identity was concealed to them.
It was more important for them to see Jesus in the Scriptures than in the flesh.
Jesus expounded these to the disciples on a Sunday—setting a precedence for us to gather and feed on God’s word on Sundays (the first day of the week).

When famine hit the land of Canaan (God’s promised land) , Abraham went down to the land of Egypt. Going down to Egypt (representing the world) is always a bad thing.
When Abraham went back up to Canaan, he prospered and became rich in silver and gold.
Sow in the time of famine—you will prosper.

Acts 11:28-30 - Three months ago, before the COVID-19 pandemic reached a serious level in Singapore, the Lord showed Pastor Prince that a time of worldwide financial famine is coming.
Thereafter, Pastor Prince read news about the swarms of locusts ravaging the lands in Africa, Iran, etc.
The news says that this locust invasion is the worst it’s ever been in decades.
The Holy Spirit can show you things to come.
The well-supplied believers were able to help those in need.
The name Agabus means “locust”. It’s prophetic of the locust invasion happening in the world now.
Even in this time, your provision comes from the Lord. He will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
This is a time of great shaking, and it will show that God is the only unshakable refuge to put your trust in.

“One of them named Agabus stood up, and indicated by the Spirit that there should be a great famine all over the world, which also happened in the days of Claudius. As any of the disciples had plenty, each determined to send relief to the brothers who lived in Judea; which they also did, sending it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.” (Acts‬ ‭11:28-30‬ ‭WEB‬)

Matthew 6:25-30 - God wants to clothe you with health and provide for you financially as well.

“Therefore I tell you, don’t be anxious for your life: what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food, and the body more than clothing? See the birds of the sky, that they don’t sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you of much more value than they? “Which of you, by being anxious, can add one moment to his lifespan? Why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They don’t toil, neither do they spin, yet I tell you that even Solomon in all his glory was not dressed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today exists, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, won’t he much more clothe you, you of little faith?” (Matthew‬ ‭6:25-30‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Matthew‬ ‭6:31-33‬ - We just need to keep learning about how righteous we are in Christ.

““Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’, ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew‬ ‭6:31-33‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Giving is sowing a seed which will surely reap a harvest. The principle of seed-time and harvest still continues!

1 Timothy 6:18-19 - You may be living on your past harvests (your savings), but are you sowing to store up for your future harvests?
Seed-time and harvest principle has not ceased. Whatever you sow, you will reap.

“that they do good, that they be rich in good works, that they be ready to distribute, willing to communicate; laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold of eternal life.” (1 Timothy‬ ‭6:18-19‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

The rich young ruler was given the Law and he couldn’t even give one shekel. Zacchaeus was given Grace and he opened his heart and wallet.
Grace makes us generous givers.

We are already in Christ Jesus, seated with Christ in heavenly places at the Father’s right hand.

The side chamber of Solomon’s temple has three floors:
First floor - The grain, oil and wine.
Second floor - The priests’ resting chambers.
Third floor - The treasury storing the tithes, gold and silver.

Luke‬ ‭6:38‬ ‭- God doesn’t want us to be covetous, greedy or loving money.
The way to break the love for money is to be a generous giver.
Jesus promised the benefits of giving. God’s way to prosper us is through leading us to give generously.
The apostle Paul said in 2 Corinthians that he who sows sparingly will reap sparingly. He who sows generously will reap generously.
The context is in giving. It’s talking about reaping material harvest—not just spiritual riches.
Jesus became materially poor so that we could become rich. Jesus was never spiritually poor.

““Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be given to you. For with the same measure you measure it will be measured back to you.”” (Luke‬ ‭6:38‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

King Cyrus was described as God’s servant. Cyrus sent the Jews back to the land of Israel, to prepare for the first coming of Jesus Christ.
There was a remnant left behind in the Gentiles land like Esther, Mordecai and those people.

The prophet Haggai prophesied that the glory of the latter temple (temple of Nehemiah) would be greater than the former temple (Solomon’s temple).
Why? Because Jesus walked in the temple of Nehemiah, but not in Solomon’s temple.
The church today has greater glory than the early church.
What God does is never regressing—it always gets greater and greater.

Nehemiah 2:10 - Nehemiah received the permission from the king to return to the land of Israel.
He became the governor of Jerusalem.
Sanballat and Tobiah are enemies of Israel.
The name Tobiah means “God is good”. He’s not living up to his name.

“When Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, heard of it, it grieved them exceedingly, because a man had come to seek the welfare of the children of Israel.” (Nehemiah‬ ‭2:10‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Nehemiah 4:3-4 - The city walls are important to protect the temple, giving Israel the opportunity to defend from incoming invaders.

“Now Tobiah the Ammonite was by him, and he said, “What they are building, if a fox climbed up it, he would break down their stone wall.” “Hear, our God; for we are despised; and turn back their reproach on their own head, give them up for a plunder in a land of captivity;” (Nehemiah‬ ‭4:3-4‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Nehemiah 13:4-12 - The chamber that the high priest Eliashib prepared for Tobiah is the third floor of the side chamber of the temple.
This was allowed to happen because Nehemiah wasn’t in Jerusalem—he went back to meet the king.
Tobiah (his name means “God is good”) replaced the tithes and offerings.
There is an end times deception saying that just because God is good, we don’t need to tithe or give anymore.
Just because God is good doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t give tithes and offerings anymore.
The tithe was first introduced in Abraham’s story, before the Law was ever given.
We tithe by revelation—we are not forced to give.
Tithing is a seed you sow, not a debt you owe.
The Hebrew word for tithe is “‘maaser”. The Hebrew word for rich is “aser”. The rich is in the tithe.
To prepare for the incoming financial famine, be faithful tither.
If God can trust you with stewarding money, He can entrust His true riches to you.
You need to tithe to your local church. The ministry which you sit under.
To forsake the tithe and your local church is to forsake the house of God.
The side chamber gets broader as it goes upwards.
Five cubits, six cubits and then seven cubits wide.
Prophetically, we are somewhere in the second floor of rest.
We are believing to see the COVID-19 trickle off and we will have more and more rest.
The meal offering has dung in it but the burnt offering doesn’t. The offerings all remind Abba God about His Son.
When you give tithes and offerings, you can raise (heave) it to the Lord, in worship of Him.

“Now before this, Eliashib the priest, who was appointed over the rooms of the house of our God, being allied to Tobiah, had prepared for him a great room, where before they laid the meal offerings, the frankincense, the vessels, and the tithes of the grain, the new wine, and the oil, which were given by commandment to the Levites, the singers, and the porters; and the wave offerings for the priests. But in all this, I was not at Jerusalem; for in the thirty-second year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon I went to the king; and after some days I asked leave of the king, and I came to Jerusalem, and understood the evil that Eliashib had done for Tobiah, in preparing him a room in the courts of God’s house. It grieved me severely. Therefore I threw all Tobiah’s household stuff out of the room. Then I commanded, and they cleansed the rooms. I brought into them the vessels of God’s house, with the meal offerings and the frankincense again. I perceived that the portions of the Levites had not been given them; so that the Levites and the singers, who did the work, had each fled to his field. Then I contended with the rulers, and said, “Why is God’s house forsaken?” I gathered them together, and set them in their place. Then all Judah brought the tithe of the grain, the new wine, and the oil to the treasuries.” (Nehemiah‬ ‭13:4-12‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Hebrews 13:15-16 - The tithe is a picture of Christ who is our First Fruits.
We are still encouraged to give under the New Covenant of Grace.
When we praise God and give for His sake, He is well-pleased with such sacrifices.
The first three offerings under the Law are sweet-smelling because they remind God about His Son.
The last two offerings are not sweet-smelling because they remind God about our sin.

“Through him, then, let us offer up a sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of lips which proclaim allegiance to his name. But don’t forget to be doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.” (Hebrews‬ ‭13:15-16‬ ‭WEB‬)

Hebrews 7:4 - We tithe to declare that God is great.

“Now consider how great this man was, to whom even Abraham, the patriarch, gave a tenth out of the best plunder.” (Hebrews‬ ‭7:4‬ ‭WEB)

Hebrews 7:8-10 - This is passage is still for our times. Tithing is still going on.
Tithing blesses your descendants as well. The benefits extend beyond your own generation.
Pastor Prince doesn’t want us to worry about money.
When you learn God’s ways, you will prosper by His system.
God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
We don’t have to feel fearful when the news talks about financial famine in the days to come.
Just seek Jesus first and how you are already the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. All the things you need will be added unto you.

“Here people who die receive tithes, but there one receives tithes of whom it is testified that he lives. We can say that through Abraham even Levi, who receives tithes, has paid tithes, for he was yet in the body of his father when Melchizedek met him.” (Hebrews‬ ‭7:8-10‬ ‭WEB)

These sermon notes are independently-compiled by me, and I'm just a loyal and regular attendee of the the church's Sunday services, and I feel led to take detailed personal sermon notes of Pastor Prince's anointed messages to share them with the world, which desperately needs the true word of God and the original gospel of grace.
