28 Feb 2016 - Don't Despise Your Small Beginnings - Pastor Charles Nieman Sermon Notes Online - New Creation Church Sermon Notes Online
Pastor Charles Nieman's End-Times Philosophy : If Jesus comes, I go, if Jesus doesn't come, I still go, so let's go out there and change the world. Revelation 1:8 - This book is the revelation of Jesus Christ. There is no other book in the Bible that shows the Person of Jesus like the Book of Revelation. Jesus says "I am the Alpha and Omega". Jesus is both things at the same time - simultaneously. There is no gap in between. That is how Jesus operates and manifests in our lives. Jesus is in our beginnings and in our endings at the same time. When something new begins, it means something ended. ““I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”” (Revelation 1:8 NKJV) Isaiah 14:12-14 - Satan always wants to sit where Jesus sits. Satan only brings an ending. Satan wants to sit on your Omegas (your endings). Don't let him. Let Jesus sit in your endings. ““How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! For you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’” (Isaiah 14:12-14 NKJV) Psalms 48:2 - Mount Zion (also representing the church) is on the sides of the north. “Beautiful in elevation, The joy of the whole earth, Is Mount Zion on the sides of the north, The city of the great King.” (Psalms 48:2 NKJV) Isaiah 46:9-10 -When something ends, Jesus already has a new beginning prepared for you. He can do that because He is the Beginning and the End. The word "counsel" should be translated as "purpose". Jesus' purpose shall stand. “Remember the former things of old, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things that are not yet done, Saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure,’” (Isaiah 46:9-10 NKJV) Zechariah 4:10 - The Heavenly Father is in love with small beginnings. He chose for Jesus to be born in a humble manger. Jesus is already in your beginnings, and He knows where your ending is. Jesus knows what beginning you need, to get you to the ending that He has purposed for you. “Does anyone dare despise this day of small beginnings? They’ll change their tune when they see Zerubbabel setting the last stone in place!” Going back to the vision, the Messenger-Angel said, “The seven lamps are the eyes of GOD probing the dark corners of the world like searchlights.”” (Zechariah 4:10 MSG) In the Old Testament, when a prophet tells you to do something, you better do it if not bad things would happen. When Samuel came to Jesse's house to anoint the next king of Israel and instructed Jesse to bring all his sons in the house, Jesse left David out with all the sheep. David wasn't being treated as a son. Usually servants and slaves would take care of the sheep. David said he would kill Goliath, just like he killed the lion and the bear. David learnt how to use the sling in the sheepfold. Learning to use the sling wasn't about the lion and the bear - it was about leading him to his purpose. David connected the dots backwards. The practice of slinging enabled him to kill Goliath and become king of Israel. It was the power of preparation at work. You learn in the small. God says don't despise small beginnings because we have a tendency to despise the small. There are things that we learn in the small to prepare us for God's true purpose in our lives. God doesn't tell you the true purpose at first - He only gives you your small beginning. Job 8:7 - Even you are not much right now, you'll end up better than ever! Don't despise your small beginnings. “Though your beginning was small, Yet your latter end would increase abundantly.” (Job 8:7 NKJV) “Even though you’re not much right now, you’ll end up better than ever.” (Job 8:7 MSG) Matthew 25:14-30 - Pastor Charles wants to help you to create sensitivity to small beginnings. Jesus takes His goods and puts them into our power. He calls us into our small beginnings and calls us to produce. Jesus said "Because you have been faithful in the small, you will be made ruler over much.". The end that the Lord wanted is for them to enter into His joy. You can apply this in all areas of your life: take care of the smalls. One of the hardest things in the world is to be faithful in the small. One of the easiest things in the world is to be faithful in the much, because much creates the energy to be faithful in it. Being faithful in the small is not a stepping stone to be ruling over much. Much exists because you are faithful in the smalls and have been taking care of the smalls. ““For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey. Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents. And likewise he who had received two gained two more also. But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord’s money. After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them. “So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’ His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ He also who had received two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.’ His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ “Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.’ “But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. Therefore take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents. ‘For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’” (Matthew 25:14-30 NKJV) Your small beginnings can promote you. 21 Feb 2016 - The Lord Delights In Us - Pastor Lim Lian Neo Sermon Notes Online - New Creation Church Sermon Notes Online
Pastor Joseph Prince is in Israel now for the TBN Tour. This year, we are gonna POP (Possess Our Possessions)! Pastor Lian wants to us to bring before God what possession we really want to possess this year in this session. What is the one thing that if you possess it this year, you will have everything? Numbers 13:27-31 - When we see the possessions that we want to possess, we can usually see the Giants too. This is good news: If you see giants, you are in the promised land! “Then they told him, and said: “We went to the land where you sent us. It truly flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit. Nevertheless the people who dwell in the land are strong; the cities are fortified and very large; moreover we saw the descendants of Anak there. The Amalekites dwell in the land of the South; the Hittites, the Jebusites, and the Amorites dwell in the mountains; and the Canaanites dwell by the sea and along the banks of the Jordan.” Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.” But the men who had gone up with him said, “We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we.”” (Numbers 13:27-31 NKJV) Numbers 14:6-9 - The Lord wants to give us EXCEEDINGLY good things this year. Let this sink into your spirit man. Have the revelation that the Lord delights in you! The word "delight" can't be said without a lightness and a smile. You can't say it in an angry tone/way. Put your hand on your heart and say "The Lord delights in _____ (your name)". The Lord will give our possessions to us. “But Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, who were among those who had spied out the land, tore their clothes; and they spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying: “The land we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land. If the LORD delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, ‘a land which flows with milk and honey.’ Only do not rebel against the LORD, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their protection has departed from them, and the LORD is with us. Do not fear them.”” (Numbers 14:6-9 NKJV) The things of God are simple but powerful. We can receive from Him easily. I Samuel 17:33-37 - Believe for audacious faith this year that allows us to have victory over all giants, lions and bears in our lives. David knew why he could have such an audacious faith. He knew it was not himself, but the Lord who delivered him from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear. “And Saul said to David, “You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him; for you are a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.” But David said to Saul, “Your servant used to keep his father’s sheep, and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock, I went out after it and struck it, and delivered the lamb from its mouth; and when it arose against me, I caught it by its beard, and struck and killed it. Your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God.” Moreover David said, “The LORD, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” And Saul said to David, “Go, and the LORD be with you!”” (I Samuel 17:33-37 NKJV) II Samuel 22:1 - The Lord is the One who delivered David from all his enemies. “Then David spoke to the LORD the words of this song, on the day when the LORD had delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul.” (II Samuel 22:1 NKJV) II Samuel 22:20 - David knew the secret as to why he could have such audacious faith. He knew that the Lord delights in him! The word "delighted" here is the Hebrew word "carphet". “He also brought me out into a broad place; He delivered me because He delighted in me.” (II Samuel 22:20 NKJV) There is power in the remembrance of what the Lord has done. When we are in God's presence and we know it and practice His presence without focusing on anything else (God's power, the provision, etc), we can enjoy it and receive from Him. As we hear God's word and testimonies of His goodness, faith arises in our hearts, and we become prosperous in every area of our lives. Don't believe that your success is because of yourself. It is because of the Lord. If your eyes are truly on the Lord, even when people lie about you and spread evil things about you, you won't be affected, because you know it's not about you. You will live really free and happy, with no one you're trying to impress. Remember: The battle is the Lord's! When David had absolutely nothing as a poor shepherd, he was truly the richest boy in Israel. He had the presence of God with him. He knew that the Lord was with him. When you have the Lord, you are successful and you are prosperous. Practice God's presence in your life. Whatever is not right in your life, God will make it right. Isaiah 53:10 - The word "pleased" here is also the Hebrew word "carphet". God was delighted to bruise His Son because He knew that after bruising Jesus, your healing would be sure and sealed! God knew the fruits that would result from that and He delighted in them. “Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, And the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in His hand.” (Isaiah 53:10 NKJV) When you have the presence of God, you have every exceedingly good thing! Jesus had a different specific message for each of the seven churches in the Book of Revelation. He pointed out the positive points and the flaws in each of the individual churches. It is vitally important that you are in the right local church that brings out the riches and treasures of God's word. Full-time ministry can be one of the excuses for people who don't want to get a proper job. But if one is really called to ministry, it is one of the highest callings. The fruits that it produces will really satisfy that person. God is a righteous God. He cannot do things in an unrighteous manner. When man chooses to walk in an unrighteous way, God's righteousness demands punishment on man. Earthly judges don't judge us based on our motives and what is in our hearts, but God judges man based on His perfect knowledge of man's sins. God knows from the beginning to the end. He knows everything about your life. Moses' preservation as a baby was supernatural. His mother told him that it was his destiny to be a deliverer. When he was an adult, Moses killed the Egyptian who killed a Hebrew slave. He had the right vision of his destiny but had the wrong application. At the Red Sea, Moses raised his rod and the sea covered and killed the Egyptians perfectly. This time it wasn't but his might, it was by the Spirit. Don't rely on your own might, rely on the Holy Spirit. When the Lord blesses the five loaves of bread and fish in your hands, it will prosper. You can apply the word of God and word of faith in every area of your life. Speak especially to your internal organs. Speak to your body. Say "You are being renewed in youth and strength!" Genesis 39:2-6 - The life of Joseph is the clearest type of life of Jesus. Even if we have physically nothing, as long as the Lord is with us, we will end up with everything! No one can push you down when the Lord makes you a success. They may push you down for a while, but you'll always bounce back to the top! Even the heathen Potiphar could see that the Lord was with Joseph. There was a plus-factor with Joseph and it wasn't his good looks. Whatever Joseph did, the Lord made it to prosper. The Hebrew word for "prosper" is "Tsaleach" which means "to burst forth". Tsaleach is used many times for the word prosper in the Old Testament. With favor comes jealousy. Joseph faced it. Jesus faced it. Are you prepared for it? It is possible for the Lord to bless an unbeliever's company for a believer's sake. A person can have a lot of money but also have an unhappy family. That's not prospering. The Lord wants us to prosper in all things and be in health, even as our soul prospers. For believers, whatever we touch prospers. When we touch the sick, sickness turns into health. “The LORD was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. And his master saw that the LORD was with him and that the LORD made all he did to prosper in his hand. So Joseph found favor in his sight, and served him. Then he made him overseer of his house, and all that he had he put under his authority. So it was, from the time that he had made him overseer of his house and all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; and the blessing of the LORD was on all that he had in the house and in the field. Thus he left all that he had in Joseph’s hand, and he did not know what he had except for the bread which he ate. Now Joseph was handsome in form and appearance.” (Genesis 39:2-6 NKJV) You can exercise and become fit, but fitness does not equate with health. The Lord gives health. There are things that the Bible says we can do that will shorten or prolong the length of our life. Psalms 1:3 - The leaf represents your health. You will be in health! Even when there is drought in the world, you will still prosper as you are planted by rivers of water. You must believe God's words that WHATEVER you do shall prosper. “He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.” (Psalms 1:3 NKJV) While on earth, Jesus did everything in its season. He veiled His official glory and deity in the appropriate season. The only thing that He couldn't veil was His moral excellence. Sometimes people penetrated through the veil and saw Jesus' deity. When Jesus was twelve years old, He asked the religious leaders questions which He already knew the answers to, and astounded them with His wisdom. Jesus submitted to His earthly parents not because they were smarter than Him - Jesus was more brilliant than them. By submitting to them, God allowed Jesus to increase in favor. For preachers and budding preachers, don't use bombastic words when preaching. Look at John Chapter 1 - there are many monosyllabic words. Use simple words when preaching. Don't preach over people's heads. It is no use if they can't understand what you are saying. In the Bible, when God talks about marriage, He always addresses the wives first before the husbands. This is because women are smarter and they listen faster and better than men. Your wife is not your competitor. She is your completer. Many times, God speaks through your wife. For husbands, it always happens that they take their wives for granted. As a husband, always be quick to take the blame and don't blame your wife. That will help you to create a happy marriage. As a husband, don't blame your wife if you give up the decision-making process. As a wife, even if you know that your husband is making a bad decision and if he still insists on it, just submit to him. By submitting, you will increase in favor. Bible Study: Can Christians Eat Pork? - What the Bible Says About Unclean Foods Under The New Covenant of Grace"What God has cleansed and pronounced clean, do not you defile and profane by regarding and calling common and unhallowed or unclean." (Acts 10:15, AMP) This is an original Bible Study. Read more of my original and exclusive Bible Studies, Sermon Notes and Devotionals on my Patreon. Are there any unclean foods under the new covenant? Is there any food that I should stay away from because I believe in Jesus Christ? These are probably questions that many Christians have, and chances are, the reason why they ask these is because they want to be right with God. This personal Bible study is written to answer these questions and to explore what the Bible says about this. I will be showing two sides of the coin: For and Against the belief that "yes, a Christian cannot eat pork and there are unclean foods under the new covenant of grace". Enjoy this Bible study, and remember to like, share and leave a comment at the bottom of this blog post! :) Let's start with the case FOR the belief that "yes, a Christian cannot eat pork and there are unclean foods under the new covenant of grace". The following Old Testament verses are what some Christians and even non-Christians from other religious groups quote to show that Christians cannot eat pork, and that pork is considered an unclean food: “And the swine, because it divides the hoof and is cloven-footed but does not chew the cud; it is unclean to you. Of their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall not touch; they are unclean to you.” (Leviticus 11:7-8 AMP) “Yet these you shall not eat of those that chew the cud or have the hoof split in two: the camel, the hare, and the coney, because they chew the cud but divide not the hoof; they are unclean for you. And the swine, because it parts the hoof but does not chew the cud; it is unclean to you. You shall not eat of their flesh or touch their dead bodies.” (Deuteronomy 14:7-8 AMP) However, like my church pastor Pastor Joseph Prince teaches, context is key. If you remove the "text" from the word "context", all you're left with is a con. Let us explore the context behind these instructions given by God. Before the Books of Deuteronomy and Leviticus, is the Book of Exodus. Notice that the Ten Commandments and the Old Covenant of the Law was given before God said that the swine (pig) is unclean for the children of Israel. Take a look at the verses below: “IN THE third month after the Israelites left the land of Egypt, the same day, they came into the Wilderness of Sinai. When they had departed from Rephidim and had come to the Wilderness of Sinai, they encamped there before the mountain. And Moses went up to God, and the Lord called to him out of the mountain, Say this to the house of Jacob and tell the Israelites: You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles' wings and brought you to Myself. Now therefore, if you will obey My voice in truth and keep My covenant, then you shall be My own peculiar possession and treasure from among and above all peoples; for all the earth is Mine. And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests, a holy nation [consecrated, set apart to the worship of God]. These are the words you shall speak to the Israelites. So Moses called for the elders of the people and told them all these words which the Lord commanded him. And all the people answered together, and said, All that the Lord has spoken we will do. And Moses reported the words of the people to the Lord. And the Lord said to Moses, Behold, I come to you in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with you and believe you and remain steadfast forever. Then Moses told the words of the people to the Lord. And the Lord said to Moses, Go and sanctify the people [set them apart for God] today and tomorrow, and let them wash their clothes And be ready by the third day, for the third day the Lord will come down upon Mount Sinai [in the cloud] in the sight of all the people. And you shall set bounds for the people round about, saying, Take heed that you go not up into the mountain or touch the border of it. Whoever touches the mountain shall surely be put to death. No hand shall touch it [or the offender], but he shall surely be stoned or shot [with arrows]; whether beast or man, he shall not live. When the trumpet sounds a long blast, they shall come up to the mountain. [Num. 24:8.]” (Exodus 19:1-13 AMP) The word "wings" in "how I bore you on eagles' wings and brought you to Myself" is the Hebrew word "kanaph". It represents God's grace. For more explanation on that, click here to read Pastor Joseph Prince's sermon about Psalms 91 that expounds on this. God is saying that from Egypt until Sinai, God had been dealing with the children of Israel by grace, and that grace is the covenant relationship that He wants to have with the children of Israel. However, the children of Israel responded in an arrogant, prideful way, boasting in their own strength and ability to keep God's commandments. The focus was on themselves and not on God. From that point on, God changed His attitudes towards them, not dealing with them by grace, but by the Covenant of the Law. Essentially, the children of Israel had asked for the Law themselves. It was not God's original plan for them. The instruction that God gave to the children of Israel with regards to not eating pork because it was unclean, was never the original plan for them! It was only because they were under the Old Covenant of the Law, that's why it was pronounced unclean to them. Many Christians and even non-Christians from other religious groups also use the following verses to strengthen their argument that pork is an unclean food. Take a look: “THEY CAME to the other side of the sea to the region of the Gerasenes. And as soon as He got out of the boat, there met Him out of the tombs a man [under the power] of an unclean spirit. This man continually lived among the tombs, and no one could subdue him any more, even with a chain; For he had been bound often with shackles for the feet and handcuffs, but the handcuffs of [light] chains he wrenched apart, and the shackles he rubbed and ground together and broke in pieces; and no one had strength enough to restrain or tame him. Night and day among the tombs and on the mountains he was always shrieking and screaming and beating and bruising and cutting himself with stones. And when from a distance he saw Jesus, he ran and fell on his knees before Him in homage, And crying out with a loud voice, he said, What have You to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? [What is there in common between us?] I solemnly implore you by God, do not begin to torment me! For Jesus was commanding, Come out of the man, you unclean spirit! And He asked him, What is your name? He replied, My name is Legion, for we are many. And he kept begging Him urgently not to send them [himself and the other demons] away out of that region. Now a great herd of hogs was grazing there on the hillside. And the demons begged Him, saying, Send us to the hogs, that we may go into them! So He gave them permission. And the unclean spirits came out [of the man] and entered into the hogs; and the herd, numbering about 2,000, rushed headlong down the steep slope into the sea and were drowned in the sea. The hog feeders ran away, and told [it] in the town and in the country. And [the people] came to see what it was that had taken place. And they came to Jesus and looked intently and searchingly at the man who had been a demoniac, sitting there, clothed and in his right mind, [the same man] who had had the legion [of demons]; and they were seized with alarm and struck with fear. And those who had seen it related in full what had happened to the man possessed by demons and to the hogs.” (Mark 5:1-16 AMP) Firstly, why did the group of demons called "Legion" asked to be sent into the hogs (pigs)? It's simple. It is simply because the pigs were nearby on that hillside and the demons could see them there! The demons just didn't want to be sent away out of that region as Legion said, that's why they settled for the pigs - they just needed living hosts to possess. If there was a herd of sheep or goats or cows, instead of a herd of pigs, I believe that they would still beg Jesus to be sent into that herd, regardless of what kind of animals they were! It is not that they specifically wanted to possess the pigs. Secondly, just because the demons possessed that herd of 2000 pigs, doesn't mean that all pigs are possessed by demons! In fact, the pigs knew that the demons were unclean and they would rather rush into the sea and drown to death than to be possessed by the demons. If the pigs were so unclean, wouldn't they have warmly welcomed the demons and basked in that uncleanness, instead of killing themselves to free themselves from the demons? 31 Jan 2016 - Grace Reigns Through Righteousness - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes Online - New Creation Church Sermon Notes OnlineFor believers, we should view the end-times as good news, because it means that it's almost the end of all evil and corruption, and Jesus is coming back soon! III John 1:2 - The Bible is full of evidence of God's desire for us to prosper. The verse below is one example of it. The Apostle Paul prayed this prayer. "Prosper in all things" includes provision and finances too. “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” (III John 1:2 NKJV) Isaiah 28:21 - God sees judgment as a strange work. He takes no pleasure in carrying out judgment. "For the LORD shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act." (Isaiah 28:21 KJV) Micah 6:8 - God loves mercy, to deal with people by grace. "Mercy" is the Hebrew word "hesed" which means grace. God wants us to love dealing with people by grace too. “He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?” (Micah 6:8 NKJV) Parents sometimes get angry with their child and when the child says sorry, they are quick to forgive and show love. What more our Heavenly Father? The Bible is not so much a book of laws. We have to look beyond the shadows, types and feasts. We have to look at the substance which is Jesus. God gives us many faith pictures in the Bible. These pictures show us how He sees us. Psalms 127:3-5 - Your children will be in the hands of our Lord, hitting the mark. “Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; They shall not be ashamed, But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.” (Psalms 127:3-5 NKJV) Psalms 128:3 - In Israel, having olive plants around the house signified wealth. Fruitful vine and olive plants is a picture of wealth. God wants us to prosper and be well-supplied. “Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine In the very heart of your house, Your children like olive plants All around your table.” (Psalms 128:3 NKJV) Psalms 1:3 - Someone cared enough to plant you. God planted you deliberately, and all the time you are being supplied. Works is the result of effort. Fruit is the result of life. God wants you to be fruitful. "Leaf also shall not wither" refers to us being young forever and not aging. It is also true that WHATEVER we do shall prosper. “He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.” (Psalms 1:3 NKJV) God will never justify sin, but He will use sin to bring about good. If God never uses sin to bring about good, there would never be a Solomon. Solomon was born out of a sinful union - Bathsheba and David. God can turn your messes into a message! All things will work together for good for those who love God. Genesis 39:2-6 - Even if you have nothing left but the clothes on your back, as long as the Lord is with you, you will get it all back and more and more and MORE! The Lord is the most important Person to have with you. The Lord can cause you to be a success and to prosper. When heathens (non-believers) can even see that God is with you, you are indeed a blessed person. Joseph prospered by the Lord's favor - it is by God's grace! Favor and grace are the same thing. Joseph was good-looking, but it was not mentioned at the beginning of this chapter, because God wants us to know that it's not our handsomeness, prettiness or good looks that give us a position. It is by God's favor and grace. Now Joseph was handsome in form and appearance.” (Genesis 39:2-6 NKJV) Romans 11:6 - Grace is not an empowerment, but grace (unmerited favor) produces empowerment. Both grace and works are antithesis. Grace is all unearned, undeserved, unmerited favor. Works is all based on human effort. “And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work.” (Romans 11:6 NKJV) Believers are a blessing to their companies, organizations and nations. Because we are believers, God will bless whoever we are associated with. That's why God doesn't want us to be unequally-yoked with non-believers because they will get the blessings from us and we will get the bad things from them. Genesis 39:6-7 - Potiphar's wife asked Joseph to sleep with her. Adultery in Joseph's eyes was a great evil and he called it a great evil. This happened even before the Ten Commandments was given. We should stand up for the moral excellence that glorifies God! “Thus he left all that he had in Joseph’s hand, and he did not know what he had except for the bread which he ate. Now Joseph was handsome in form and appearance. And it came to pass after these things that his master’s wife cast longing eyes on Joseph, and she said, “Lie with me.”” (Genesis 39:6-7 NKJV) Some people say that when they declare that they are the righteousness of God in Christ, they get into trouble. Why? The trouble is designed by God as a stepping stone. You will thrive in the midst of the trial. Like how the flood was happening all around but Noah was safe inside the ark, the trials are around you but will not get into you. Joseph was imprisoned and that gave him the opportunity to interpret Pharaoh's dream, and become one of the most powerful men in Egypt. When the devil throws lemons at you, make lemonade. As recorded in the Book of Acts, in the early church, there was no one with lack and no one sick. Great power and great grace go together. God is restoring great power and great grace. I Kings 3:5-10 - Solomon asked God for a hearing heart, and his motive was so that he could judge God's people. Before he asked for that, twice he said that God showed great grace to his father King David. "Mercy" and "kindness" in the verses below is the same Hebrew word "hesed", which means grace. Solomon understood grace! Grace produces wisdom. It's not you, it's not me, it's the favor of God! “At Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and God said, “Ask! What shall I give you?” And Solomon said: “You have shown great mercy to Your servant David my father, because he walked before You in truth, in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with You; You have continued this great kindness for him, and You have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day. Now, O LORD my God, You have made Your servant king instead of my father David, but I am a little child; I do not know how to go out or come in. And Your servant is in the midst of Your people whom You have chosen, a great people, too numerous to be numbered or counted. Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?” The speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.” (I Kings 3:5-10 NKJV) I Corinthians 12:9 - The word "gifts" in "gifts of healings" is translated as "charismata" in Greek, which means grace gift. It's by grace, not by works. The ones ministering the spiritual gifts and the one receiving the gifts, are both operating by charismata. Both the one ministering and the one receiving should be inspired by the gift to live a holy life. Grace is the root, holiness is the fruit! “to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit,” (I Corinthians 12:9 NKJV) God is not intimidated by sin. God is greater than sin. |
