8 February 2015 - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes Online - New Creation Church Sermon Notes Online - Pray New Covenant Prayers with BoldnessIf a teaching is from God, He will enlarge it. If it's not, He will overthrow it and make it futile. The writers of New Testament Scripture are secretaries, picked by the Author, the glorified Jesus Christ. John 16:23-24 - According to Pastor Joseph Prince, in Paul's epistles, Paul doesn't end any of his prayers with "in the name of the Lord Jesus". Praying in Jesus's name is not about tagging our Lord's name at the back of our prayer. To pray in Jesus's name means to ask on the behalf of and in the authority of the glorified Jesus Christ. We must have the conscious nearness to God, as if it is Jesus Himself who is praying when we are praying to the Father. We must know that we are loved and accepted by the Father just as Jesus is perfectly loved and accepted by Him. "“And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full."" (John 16:23-24 NKJV) Commanding a demon to come out from a person by saying Jesus's name is correct, because demons are subject to His name. But when praying to the Father, praying in Jesus's name means something different. Romans 8:15 - We pray not with the slavish fear of God, but in the spirit of sonship to God. Today, the "fear of God" means to reverently worship the Father. "For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”" (Romans 8:15 NKJV) If you enjoy someone's presence so much, you will just want to linger there. That's the kind of fellowship with God that we should have. God designed for pregnancy to be caused during the closest, enjoyable and most intimate interaction between a man and a woman. This makes sex within the context of marriage, a sacred and beautiful activity. Sex is not just body to body, but it is soul to soul, spirit to spirit. God designed sex in such a way that it creates oneness. It leaves behind something from the other person on your own spirit, so don't have sex outside of marriage. Philippians 4:6-7 - This is a New Covenant prayer model. "Let your requests be made known to God" is in the passive participle in Greek. "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV) I Corinthians 14:14-17- When we pray in tongues, we pray in our spirit man which knows no limitations, beyond our mind's understanding. When we pray in a known language, we pray by our own limited understanding. The understanding part of our prayers is more for the person than for God. Every believer can pray in tongues. When you pray from your spirit, you are uttering the most holy prayer. We are the temple of God, and when we pray in the spirit, our heart becomes the Holy of Holies. "For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding. Otherwise, if you bless with the spirit, how will he who occupies the place of the uninformed say “Amen” at your giving of thanks, since he does not understand what you say? For you indeed give thanks well, but the other is not edified." (I Corinthians 14:14-17 NKJV) The devil will always try to dissuade you from praying in tongues, saying that you are speaking gibberish and nonsense and that you are making it up. But be assured that you have been imparted the real gift of tongues, if not the devil wouldn't bother to lie to you, to stop you from praying in tongues.

22 February 2015 - Pastor Mark Ng Sermon Notes Online - New Creation Church Sermon Notes Online Chinese New Year Service - Chinese New Year Service 2015 - Look Unto Jesus for Your RestorationWhen we lose something in our life, don't focus on what we lost, but focus on Jesus who is able to lengthen our life and provide for all our needs. God doesn't want us to look to men to restore. He is the Restorer. 1 Samuel 18:8-9 - When you look to man, you will lose your peace. We must remember that God can give us more than we need. "And Saul was very angry, for the saying displeased him; and he said, They have ascribed to David ten thousands, but to me they have ascribed only thousands. What more can he have but the kingdom? And Saul [jealously] eyed David from that day forward." (1 Samuel 18:8-9 AMP) Genesis 31:7 - God is watching over us and protecting. We must have a good opinion of God. "But your father has deceived me and changed my wages ten times, but God did not allow him to hurt me." (Genesis 31:7 AMP) Genesis 50:20 - God can turn all the bad things that have happened to us for our good. "As for you, you thought evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring about that many people should be kept alive, as they are this day." (Genesis 50:20 AMP) "Joseph replied, “Don’t be afraid. Do I act for God? Don’t you see, you planned evil against me but God used those same plans for my good, as you see all around you right now—life for many people. Easy now, you have nothing to fear; I’ll take care of you and your children.” He reassured them, speaking with them heart-to-heart." (Genesis 50:19-21 MSG) 15 February 2015 - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes Online - New Creation Church Sermon Notes Online - Justification Before God and Justification Before MenCreate an environment where love and grace are part of your household and they (your family members) will always come back. When we pray, do it in the name of the Lord Jesus. Testimony: A lady in the Philippines who was saved at 16 was taught the Ten Commandments, and was under constant condemnation. Bound by the condemnation, she felt rebellious and participated in the sin of pre-marital sex, had an abortion, and attempted to commit suicide many times. Her husband took alcohol and drugs and had affairs with a few women in Singapore. In anger, she started an affair too through online chatting. She tried her best to be right with God, but she always felt that she was in and out of closeness with God. After attending New Creation Church in Singapore, she learnt that God doesn't condemn her - her affair ended, her marriage was restored and the husband's addictions disappeared too. James 2:24 - James is not talking about justification before God. He is talking about justification before men. "You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only." (James 2:24 NKJV) Romans 4:1-5 - We are justified by our faith and not by our works. Paul deals with the root, while James deals with the fruit. If we base our justification on our works, our wages are counted to us as a debt to us, but all of us fail in keeping the entire Law, so it is impossible to be justified by works. We can only be justified by faith, and the righteous foundation for that is Jesus's work on the cross. "What then shall we say that Abraham our father has found according to the flesh? For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt. But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness," (Romans 4:1-5 NKJV) Ephesians 2:8-10 - Even the faith that causes us to believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior is a gift of God. We can't boast of our faith because it is given by God, not earned. "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them." (Ephesians 2:8-10 NKJV) James 2:17-26 - This faith is an expression (a fruit) of our already-present righteousness as a believer, not to justify ourselves. James is talking about proving our faith before men through good works. Abraham was about to kill his son Isaac, and Rahab was lying and betraying her nation by hiding spies from Israel. These are not good works recognised in the natural, but these are faith-works that are pleasing to God. "Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God. You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way? For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also." (James 2:17-26 NKJV) |
