Brother Yun (The Heavenly Man) Kingdom Invasion Sermon Notes

I took these notes at Kingdom Invasion Trilogy Part II and paid S$35 for the ticket to attend the event in the morning. The night sessions were open to all and free to attend.

Brother Yun’s spiritual name is Samuel which his mother gave to him when he was saved at 17.

God spoke to him telling him to go to the east and west to testify of Jesus.
At that time, China was not as open as it is today.
Chairman Mao wasn’t afraid of those who had money or power. He was afraid of those who had faith.
At that time, all churches were forcibly closed and Christian pastors and preachers were thrown into prison.

Yun’s mother was saved through the preaching of a Norwegian preacher, and because of the persecution, she didn’t dare to publicly confess her faith in Jesus.

Those who really have encountered Jesus know that they can’t go to sleep so easily and that they have a burden to go about doing the Lord’s work in their lives.

In China it’s different from the culture of the West. At that time, whatever your mother says is like the law. There is a strong belief in submission to parents.
Yun couldn’t be dissuaded from his intention to preach the Gospel, so his mother had no choice but to kneel down and pray with him for protection as he shares the Gospel.

Yun’s father was miraculously healed of cancer.

At 17, Yun preached to a village and many signs and wonders happened. 20 people were healed and even demon-possessed people who torn their clothes were freed.

At 17, Yun memorized the whole of the Gospel of Matthew. He didn’t know what to do as a believer.

At that time if you preached Jesus, it was illegal and you would have been arrested by the police for being a “counter-revolutionary”.

Yun was just a simple, poor farmer boy, but he was highly wanted for arrest by the state because he was seen as a counter-revolutionary.

At 21, Yun had no way to go home because he was a fugitive.

The people Yun evangelized to were also farmers.

Even though Yun had no education, God called him to teach God’s word and make disciples.

The people at that time were all quaking in fear because of impending arrest at any time.

At that time there was no television, but there was radio broadcast. The state broadcaster a warning that whoever associated with Yun would be arrested.

Every believer should have at least 3 Bibles: a clean one, one messy one with many annotations and notes inside, and a Bible hidden in your heart.

1 Peter 2:9 - This verse has been very important to the house churches in China. Through this, they know that they are not just simple village people, but people of Heaven.
They know that they are called to intercede for their nation.
God has chosen us that we might come out of darkness and sin, into the kingdom of glorious light.
Many people thought that they were just simple village people.
Yun told them to memorize and read God’s word.
Everyone is called to testify of Jesus and witness about Him.
At that time, the fire of the Holy Spirit began to burn in their hearts.
Are you willing to pay the price for following Jesus?
We will be persecuted for believing in the Gospel—it’s not just about receiving blessings.
Are you willing to be a martyr for the Lord? Don’t just be willing to preach the Gospel—be willing to die for the Gospel if necessary.
The believers in China had to memorize the Bible because if they were thrown in prison, they wouldn’t have access to a physical Bible.
We need to put the word of God in our hearts.

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:” ‭‭(1 Peter‬ ‭2:9‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Yun was arrested for his faith on Christmas Day. As he was crying out to Jesus to save, the Lord spoke in his heart: “My child, I know. Don’t be afraid.”
That was the very first time he heard God call him His child.
All fears melted away in an instant.

What a person receives a word from the Lord, it’s forever imprinted in one’s heart.

On that day of his arrest, Yun shouted “I am a Heavenly Man!” when interrogated by the police for his background.

Yun was incarcerated for 4 times and spent a total of 10 years in prison for his faith.
He is thankful that God gave him a precious name like “The Heavenly Man”.
Yun would tell the police that he lived in “The Gospel Village”.
He prophesied that China would become a Gospel village.
When asked what is his father’s name, Yun would say, “Full of Grace” (满恩典).
When asked what is his mother’s name, Yun would say, “Faith, Hope, Love” (信望爱）
Yun would say that his older brother’s name is “Jesus is Coming Soon” (盼望耶稣再来).

The Gospel is not just about prospering you. It’s like a coin with both sides. There’s also persecution that we face for our faith.

Yun has two children. Their names are Isaac and Yilin.
At the time when Isaac was born, Yun was arrested and thrown into prison.
At that time, the state could have sentenced him to death for being a ‘counter-revolutionary’.
Yun is thankful for family members that loved Jesus so much and were praying for him.

At that time, in the village, they didn’t know about dating.
Yun had an arranged marriage.
He asked if his wife Deling would be willing to marry him as he was a preacher who followed Jesus, and she agreed.

In China there was the One-Child Policy, and the state wanted to force Deling to abort her child.
Deling gave birth to her son prematurely. He was only seven months of age.

The guards in prison asked Yun to give his son a name.
That time when Yun heard the news that his wife had given birth to a son, he cried tears of gratefulness.
Yun didn’t have any worldly possessions, so he offered his life to God.
Yun dedicated his son to God, and God spoke to him, telling him that his son’s name will be “Isaac”.
Yun thought he wouldn’t have a chance to meet his son. He wrote a letter telling his son that he wasn’t a criminal, and that he was arrested because he believed and preached the Gospel.
He encouraged his son to follow the Lord and shine as a light for Jesus.

In this dark generation, Yun declared that Isaac would bring light to the world.
Yun is thankful that both his children are pastors and worshippers of Jesus.
Isaac is being mightily used in Germany for the Lord.
There are some believers from Iran and Iraq in Isaac’s newly-established church. They believed in Jesus and were baptized in water immediately.

At that time in China, many believers turned their back on Jesus and even persecuted Christians.
Yun’s in-laws mocked his family for their faith.
Instead of feeling angry, Yun was determined to love them.

Yilin got her name from the Biblical story whereby the children of Israel passed by a place called Mara and Elim in the wilderness.

Bitterness gives birth to dissent and gives birth to lies. All these come from Satan.
We don’t want to be born in Mara (bitterness).
Elim was a place near to Mara.

Whenever Yun called his son’s name, we was reminded that he (Yun) was called to serve the Lord, and whenever he called his daughter’s name, he was reminded that was not to live in bitterness.

Everything changes when the kingdom of God invades earth

We need to be disciples of Jesus.

Yun’s deepest desire is that every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord.

Direction is more important than speed.

Choosing the correct platform is more important than your own effort.

Yun decided to preach the Gospel and work with the Lord for the Gospel to be preached all the way back to Jerusalem.

Perhaps you’re not in a physical prison, but if you’re an unbeliever, you have to be freed from the prison of sin.

You don’t have live in an area of being lost and unhappy. Jesus wants to set you free.
The kingdom of God will come and God will give you freedom and deliverance.
Are you willing to be a disciple of Jesus?
Are you willing to perform the will of God and bring the kingdom of God to Singapore?
Are you willing to accept God’s calling?

Pray for God to send more laborers into the field.

When God has a calling in your life, he will do everything He can to ensure that it comes to pass.
Even if you want to die, it will be difficult because God will make His calling in your life come to pass.

God knows our past, present and future. He knows how weak we are and what we need.

When we follow the Lord, we need to make some decisions.

When you’re feeling afraid, preach to yourself: “Child, don’t be afraid.”

When difficulties come, not everyone will choose to follow the Lord, so some people will fall away.
A lot of believers in China wrote that they deny Jesus and don’t follow Him anymore in order to escape arrest by China’s authorities.

Yun fasted many days for the Lord in prison and refused to eat or drink anything.

One day in prison, Yun asked Jesus when he would be set free from prison, and Jesus spoke to him from within that when the day arises, he would be set free.

The prison guards tortured Yun by piercing long needles under all his fingernails and eyelids.
As that was happening, Yun experienced an ‘out-of-body experience’ and saw a huge staircase going upwards to Heaven.
Yun saw a door opening in a vision, and heard God say “I am opening a door for you that no man can shut!”

Yun didn’t know that there were black and white people—he was just a simple village boy. He was shown this in a vision.
God showed Yun that he would testify of Jesus to millions of people in many nations.

3 years ago, someone called Yun on the phone and called him by his name in prison.
He saw that person’s profile pic on WeChat and it was a picture of the Taoist goddess of mercy.

You need to know that the Gospel is the power of God.

The Lord used Yun’s prison name and asked him “Have you forgotten how I carried you in prison every day? Even when you met your family again for the first time, I was there.”

There was someone in prison with Yun at the time who was a murderer. That guy was a spy.
When the spy saw Yun being tortured by the needles, Yun screamed out “Abba!” and the spy was moved in his heart and became a believer in Jesus.

Whatever we don’t know, the Lord knows.

When the kingdom of God invades Singapore, Singapore will be changed.
Where is the kingdom of God? It is within us and in our midst. The kingdom of God is also up in Heaven.
We must pray that the kingdom of God will come down to Singapore.
When Yun was in prison, he was very hungry for the kingdom of heaven to come down to earth.

Yun’s wife and mother were arrested for their faith as well, but he wasn’t afraid.
If you’re not afraid of the devil, the devil will be afraid of you.

Yun’s mother and sister couldn’t recognize Yun when they saw him in prison because he was so unrecognizable—he fasted for 72 days.
The prison guard brought Yun’s family to prison to get them to persuade Yun to eat and drink because they (the prison guards) couldn’t get him to do so.
Yun’s mother lifted his shirt and saw the birthmark on his back, and recognized him.
Even when your family rejects you and doesn’t recognize you, Jesus will always recognize and accept you.

Yun asked his mother whether she had any grape juice with her? He wanted to have Holy Communion.
The house churches in China partook of Holy Communion very frequently.
When they broke the bread, Yun said he is willing to be a martyr for Jesus Christ, and that he will never be a Judas (betrayer).

Yun said to his wife Deling that “Don’t worry, the Lord will give you a better husband when I die.”
Yun’s sister’s faith wasn’t strong. She slapped Yun and said, “How can you afford to be a martyr when your wife is 5 months pregnant?”
Yun’s mother was a praying woman and a prophetess, and she said “You must live for Jesus, not for me.”
This sentence gripped Yun’s heart and changed his life.

The prison guards heard Yun’s mother encouraging Yun to stay alive for Jesus’ sake and that caused them to drag him back to prison.
Yun’s mother’s words are firmly imprinted in his heart.
Say this to yourself: “I will live for the Lord Jesus Christ.”

Yun’s family brought many provisions for Yun in prison.
The place where Yun was locked up was like a maximum security prison.
The prison guard was really moved by Yun, and promoted Yun to become the leader among the prisoners of his cell.
The prisons in China are not like prisons anywhere else.

The handcuffs were cuffed behind the prisoners’ backs and their legs were even chained.
The prison cell leader’s job was to feed the prisoners because their hands were chained behind their back.
The first thing that Yun ate after his 72 day fast was Holy Communion.
Then the next thing he ate was a mantou (steamed bun).

When Yun received the mantou, he gave thanks for the mantou, and thanked God for the opportunity to feed the prisoners their mantou as well.
Just when Yun was about to eat his mantou, the Lord told him, “Give your mantou to this other prisoner that is about to be executed.”
Yun responded to the Lord saying, “Lord I’m also a human. I’m also hungry.”
When the Lord tells you to do something, it doesn’t mean you won’t have fear.

Yun gave his small mantou to the prisoner that the Lord designated, tearing it into many small pieces.
That prisoner knelt down and broke into tears, looking into Yun’s eyes.
He asked Yun, “Why do you love me like that? I cannot repay your kindness in this life, but in three days time I will come back as a ghost to repay your kindness.”
Yun replied, “It’s not me who loves you, but Jesus. Jesus is the one who asked me to give you the mantou.”
The prisoner cried out, “Jesus, I will come back as a ghost to repay your kindness.”

Yun preached the Gospel to the prisoner, and said that if he believes in Jesus, then he will be saved from Hell which is worse than any prison on earth.
“Whatever you can’t tell the judge, you can tell Jesus. Jesus wants to save you from the fires of Hell.”
The prisoner cried out, “Yes I don’t want to go to Hell. I want to believe in Jesus!”
All the other prisoners in the cell also declared that they wanted to believe in Jesus.
Yun poured water on the prisoners’ heads and baptized them into the faith.

When you’re in labor, it’s painful, but when your child is born, you’ll forget about the pain.
Yun gave birth to so many spiritual children in prison.
In good times and bad times, we need Jesus.
The hardened prisoners followed Yun devotedly and were not afraid of anything.
They knew that they would die in prison, so they encouraged Yun to be bold for Jesus.
At that time, Yun learnt what it means to make disciples.

Yun encourages us to memorize the Bible. When we preach, it’s not what we say, but we should quote “Jesus said...”
Before entering prison, Yun thought he was so great, but when he went in, he realized he wasn’t so great.

God loves us to worship and sing songs of praises to Him. In the darkest and difficult times, we need to praise Him.

When believers worship in China, it’s very different from how believers in the West worship.
When believers sing in the West, they seem to imagine Jesus sitting comfortably on His Throne.
When believers sing in China, they imagine Jesus coming down from His throne, encouraging and embracing them as they suffer for Him.

When Yun was in prison, he loved singing praises to God.

When you’re stressed and under tremendous pressure, you can just call out “Abba” and the Holy Spirit will help you offer up perfect prayers to God.

When Yun poured water over the prisoner’s head in prison, the prisoner was reminded about his parents.
The prisoners thought that Yun was a priest.
Yun isn’t about doing a religion, but he just believes in what the Bible says.

There was no pen and paper in prison, so the prisoner who was water baptized bit his finger and wrote a letter with his own blood.
The prisoner realized that he wasn’t going to Hell but to Heaven.
The prisoners asked if commuting suicide was a sin. Yun said “Yes” because believer belong to Jesus.
The prisoner had hidden a blade and was planning to use it to slit his throat to commit suicide.
The prisoner turned over the blade to the guards and the guard wondered who is this Jesus that is so powerful that can cause a prisoner like that to repent.

The prison guards allowed the prisoner to have his hands cuffed in front instead of behind, so that he could write a letter on pieces of toilet paper to his parents using his own blood.
The prisoner told his parents that they needed to believe in Jesus so that they will meet each other again in Heaven.
That prisoner was executed by a gunshot to his head.
Even though he is dead, like the Bible says, his faith still speaks.

When Yun was released from prison, Yun went to visit the prisoner’s parents and handed the letter of blood to them, as well as the pair of their son’s shoes.
The mother who had some mental issues, started to cry and hugged Yun, thinking that he was her son.
Thankfully, both of them knelt down and believed in Jesus.

In this life, we don’t need to use many words, but just need people to know that they have to believe in Jesus.

Yun didn’t expect that the love he showed by giving his mantou to a prisoner could lead to so many prisoners being saved.
3 years ago, the person who called Yun identified himself as one of the prisoners in that cell.
Yun asked that person, “If you believe in Jesus, why do you have a picture of the goddess of mercy as your profile pic?”
The person replied, “Isn’t goddess of mercy the same as Jesus?”
You see, that man had no opportunity to have access to a Bible.
That man was sent to work in a prison camp in a remote desert for 30 years.
He prayed to meet the man who led him to Christ, and finally found Yun.

People in Singapore don’t need a religion. They need to believe in Jesus and experience the love of Jesus.
Yun wants to set ablaze that love of God in our hearts.

If you want your family members to be saved, stand up where you are now and pray for it.
Believe that you and your whole household will be saved.

When Yun was imprisoned the first time for 4 years and as it was coming to an end, the guards came into the cell at midnight and put a black bag over his head and dragged him out.
They threw him into a small, enclosed space whereby he couldn’t even turn his body around.
His hands and feet were bound.
Yun cried out to the Lord, and told Him that he was looking forward to seeing his family again, so why was he being allowed to suffer like this.
There was no light in that space. There was only a small little hole whereby the guards would pass food into the cell through that hole.

The guards brought Yun out of that cell and forced him to write down all the names of the people that he ever preached to and had contact with.
The authorities brought out evidence and told Yun that they knew that he had contact with believers from other provinces.
They also asked Yun how was he getting letters from Christians from outside the prison.

At that time, the Chinese government had invited Billy Graham to come to China for an interview.
The house churches wrote letters to Billy Graham, requesting him to put pressure on the government to release Christians who have been thrown into prison.
There was a main leader of the house churches called Xu Yongze, and he had written to Billy Graham to get Yun out of prison.

A prophetic word from the Lord for you: You must hold on to your faith so that no one can take your crown.

Everyday in prison, Yun wrote songs and poems for the Lord. He was singing to the Lord every day.

The authorities threw Yun into prison wanting to reform him, but they said it didn’t seem to work. They asked him does he plan to stay in prison forever?
God is not afraid of a challenge.

Brother Yun prays together with the attendees of Kingdom Invasion for Singapore and its government leaders. Yun's story inspires us to be willing to give up everything for Jesus if necessary. A true testimony of discipleship.

Pray for your nation and government to be led by the Lord

Romans‬ ‭8:35-39 - Nothing can separate us from the love of God that’s in Christ Jesus.
Many times when we don’t love God, God still loves us.
Even when we’re in prison, God still loves us.
When a believer has experienced a Biblical truth, he will never forget it.

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Could oppression, or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Even as it is written, “For your sake we are killed all day long. We were accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from God’s love, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” ‭‭(Romans‬ ‭8:35-39‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

In prison, Yun prayed to receive a Bible, and he told Jesus that he was willing to stay in prison for life.
Yun miraculously received a Bible from someone who dug the Bible underground and brought it out for Yun.
Yun was overjoyed and memorized the whole Bible.

Wanting to be a martyr is not so easy. If God doesn’t want you to die, you can’t die.
If you can’t die for Jesus, then you must live for Jesus.

Yun’s time in prison was a time of ministry. In prison if you tell someone to kneel down, they will kneel down.

One of the authorities in prison was a captain of the guard, and told Yun that he doesn’t seem like a counter-revolutionary or a wicked criminal.
Yun started to preach Jesus to that captain, saying that he was willing to die for his faith in Jesus.

That captain had asthma. It was winter time, and his asthma was flaring up.
Yun was in the captain’s office, and he felt that the Lord’s presence was there with him at the moment.
Yun told the captain that he knows his needs and shared the testimony about the miracle healing of his father from cancer.
The captain looked at Yun and said, “Are you really that spiritual?” and knelt down to receive prayer for healing.
The captain said “Amen” and received an instant miracle healing from his asthma.

When the kingdom of God invades prison, the whole prison can turn around for His glory.

There is one Catholic priest in China who is 102 years old now, and Isaac (Yun’s son) went to meet that priest recently last year.
The priest shared many stories of his memories of Yun’s help and love for him back in prison.
The priest shared the memory about Yun writing many scriptures on his arm.

You are friends with God. Whenever you need, you can come before Him and boldly ask Him for all your needs.

It seems impossible to receive a Bible in a China prison, but nothing is impossible for God.
Yun decided not to eat anything and fast for the Lord, until he received a Bible in prison.

In prison, they will feed you and send you out to work in labor camps.
In maximum security prison, they only give you a small amount of food.

When Yun fasted—abstaining from food and water, he only desired to receive a Bible. He was hungry for God’s word.
Day after day passed, until one evening, Yun saw a vision that he was freed from prison, that his chains were removed and he received a Bible.
Yun came to himself and realized that he was just having a vision.
He believed and held onto the vision in his heart.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve never had extreme experiences like Yun. Everyone’s experiences are different.
Yun saw a vision of the apostle John who was exiled on the isle of Patmos.
John told Yun that for the kingdom of God, he must suffer trials and tribulations for Jesus, to further His kingdom.
We must embrace suffering for the Lord.

Yun asked Jesus “I saw a vision that I’m free, but when will I actually be free?”
An angel appeared to Yun, and told him that he was already free.
Yun had become so skinny from fasting that the chains fell off from his hands and feet.
Yun asked God, “Where is my Bible? No problem, I will continue to fast until I get my Bible.”
Live for God’s eyes, die for man’s eyes.
The next day, the guards opened the prison gates to bring food to Yun, and said to Yun excitedly, “Heavenly Man, here is your Bible.”

When Yun was first imprisoned, he was told that would be imprisoned for at least 15 years or be put to death.

A government official came and those the other authorities that Yun wasn’t so bad and that they should treat him nicer, even promising to treat him to a good meal.
The devil has many different tactics—sometimes he uses smooth words to deceive, sometimes he uses persecution.
The authorities deliberated and decided to give Yun a Bible so that he would read it and turn over a new leaf.

In order to enter the kingdom of God (Heaven), we will have to endure many trials and tribulations.
We have to bring the Gospel to Singapore to fulfill the Great Commission.

We are a royal priesthood that’s here to love and pray for Singapore.

Let’s pray for our government, that they will obey God’s purpose as they make decisions for the country.

Wherever we are, we need to share the Gospel and share God’s love to others. The love of God will change Singapore. It is going to be a new era of God’s Grace for Singapore.
Yun prayed for fiery faith to be ignited in the hearts of believers in Singapore.

Pray for the fire of God to stir up people’s heart.
Yun has a vision to take the Gospel back to Jerusalem.

We’re not the lukewarm Laodicean church, we are a new church in Singapore that’s on fire for the Lord!

Pray for the fiery love of God to saturate and fill Singapore. Don’t wait for people to come to the church. Bring the kingdom of God to the people! Bring it everywhere you go.

Decide to follow Jesus—never turn back to the world! Be willing to give up everything and follow Jesus!

Thank you for your encouraging notes from Brother Yun.
I was looking for his testimony of being supernaturally released from prison on one of the occasions that he was imprisoned (like Peter in Acts 12) that I remembered from reading “Heavenly Man” years ago.
Believing for more supernatural deliverance testimonies - especially for brothers and sisters in Afghanistan - as we pray and believe for God’s angels to minister / do more than we are able to.
Keep up the good work for Him!😊
