25 March 2018 - Hypocrisy is an Abomination to God - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes Online - New Creation Church Sermon Notes Online

The gospel of grace opens up your heart and makes you generous.

Of all the sins that Jesus publicly rebukes and exposes in the gospels, hypocrisy brings out that anger in Him the most.
He responds this way because He loves them.

The Mount of Beatitudes is almost acoustically perfect.
The Father already prepared the place for His Son to preach the Sermon on the Mount.

Leprosy is a disease that when you contract it, you have to be kept out of the camp, isolated away from people.
Under the Law, if you touch a leper, you will become unclean.

Psalms 147:3-5 - The world is full of broken hearts. God wants to heal us of our broken hearts.

“He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds. He counts the number of the stars; He calls them all by name. Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite.” (Psalms 147:3-5 NKJV)

Under grace, Jesus touched the unclean leper and made him clean.
Under the Law, the unclean makes the clean, unclean.

Under the Law, 3000 people died at Mount Sinai.
Under grace, 3000 people were saved on the Day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came.

You will never feel that you are truly loved, until you know that someone knows all about you and still loves you.
God knows all about you and still loves you.

John 4:17-18 - Hypocrisy means “play acting - pretending to be what you are not”.
Every time you pretend to be something you’re not, you won’t feel loved.
Until you stop pretending to be someone you’re not, you cannot feel loved by God and God can’t cast out your fear and transform you.
Like the woman at the well in Samaria. Jesus exposed her sin courteously.
Jesus did the “divine sandwich” - He praised her first, exposed her sin, and then praised her again.
The Bible says that Jesus “needed to go through Samaria”. It was not a topographical need. It was a grace need - He wanted to love her and save her.

“The woman answered and said, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You have well said, ‘I have no husband,’ for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly.”” (John 4:17-18 NKJV)

Never argue with a woman when she is rested or when she is tired. Basically, don’t argue with her.

When a believer condemns himself or pretends to be a sinner, that's an abomination to the Lord

When God looks at the earth, He only sees three groups of people: Jews, Gentiles and the Church.

The dispensation of Grace (2000 over years) has lasted longer than the dispensation of the Law (1500 years).

Romans 11:6 - Grace is not of works.

“And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work.” (Romans 11:6 NKJV)

Proverbs 17:15 - We were born in sin because of Adam’s sin. Then when we break a known law, that’s called transgression. When the sin is passed down from our ancestors causing a perversion of our nature, that’s iniquity.
Abomination is the worst of them all and the Lord hates it.
When a sinner says that he’s not a sinner and that he has no need for saving, that’s an abomination to the Lord.
When a believer condemns himself and says that he is a sinner, that’s also an abomination to the Lord.
When a believer pretends to be a sinner, that’s an abomination to God.

“He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the just, Both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD.” (Proverbs 17:15 NKJV)

II Corinthians 5:21 - When you believe in Jesus, you are made clean. What God has cleansed, don’t you dare call unclean.

“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” (II Corinthians 5:21 NKJV)

When you ask God for big things, that’s complimenting the Lord - you’re thinking well of Him.

Matthew 15:21-28 - Noah cursed Canaan for uncovering his nakedness. The Canaanites were under this curse.
The Canaanite woman in the passage below was pretending to be a Jew by calling Jesus “Son of David” (which was a Jewish title).
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth, not the Spirit of Pretense.
It was the mercy of the Lord that He said not a word to her. The only thing He could say to her would be a rebuke.
Then the woman dropped her pretense and called Jesus “Lord”. Son of David is a title for the Jews, but everyone can claim Him as Lord.
Jesus gave her a loophole because it was not time for the Gentiles yet: He called her a little dog (puppy) and she was willing to take her place as a puppy.
When she humbled herself and took her place, she could receive the blessing from Jesus.
Through what He did, Jesus was essentially telling His disciples: I cannot bless her on a pretense but I also cannot send her away with a blessing.

“Then Jesus went out from there and departed to the region of Tyre and Sidon. And behold, a woman of Canaan came from that region and cried out to Him, saying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed.” But He answered her not a word. And His disciples came and urged Him, saying, “Send her away, for she cries out after us.” But He answered and said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, help me!” But He answered and said, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.” And she said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.” Then Jesus answered and said to her, “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that very hour.” (Matthew 15:21-28 NKJV)

The Law was given for 1500 years to show up man’s sin - Not to save man. Even the best of God’s people like David, failed.
Then God sent His Son to save us from our sins.

It takes the Holy Spirit and the anointing of God to preach the loveliness of Jesus and the Grace of God.

If you are a sinner, you qualify for Jesus to be your Savior.

If you condemn yourself now as a believer, that is an abomination to the Lord.

John 16:24 - The disciples were already praying The Lord’s Prayer before Jesus said this in the Upper Room.
The Lord’s prayer is not praying in Jesus’ name. All the Old Testament prayers are not praying in Jesus’ name.
Praying in Jesus’ name means knowing that you can eat the children’s bread - that you’re part of God’s family. It is a family prayer.
Praying in Jesus’ name means knowing that you are in the same standing and position as Jesus. Knowing that you are loved by God.

“Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.” (John 16:24 NKJV)

The Lord's Prayer is not praying in Jesus' name. Praying in Jesus' name means that you know that you're in the same position and standing as Jesus is with the Father.
The Lord's Prayer is not praying in Jesus' name. Praying in Jesus' name means that you know that you're in the same position and standing as Jesus is with the Father.

We can drop the hypocrisy and be bold when we pray today because we know that we're totally forgiven

The devil doesn’t tell sinners that they are hypocrites. He tells them that they are okay and that they are not as bad as other people.
His purpose is to make them think that they don’t need a Savior.

The ones the devil accuses of being hypocrites are the believers.
When believers know that they are righteous and are as bold as a lion, that’s when the devil comes with condemnation.

God gives believers solid ground to stand on, and there’s nothing more certain than the word of God.
We can be confident and definite that God hears our prayers.

The Old Testament is the New Testament hidden. The New Testament is the Old Testament revealed.

The Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth. God’s word must be interpreted in the light of God’s truth for today - The New Covenant of Grace.

Today we forgive others not in order to be forgiven, but we forgive because we are forgiven. The motivation is different.
There is a lack of forgiveness in church today because the message of how forgiven we are in Christ is not preached properly in its entirety.

The Apostle Paul’s words are not words of man. They are the words of Jesus after He died and rose again. They are divinely inspired by the Holy Spirit.

Galatians 2:11-16 - Paul rebuked Peter over food - Peter’s hypocrisy.
There should be no compromise on the truth that we know of the gospel, even over a seemingly mundane area like food.
What is walking uprightly according to the gospel today?
It is believing that you are loved, forgiven and so near to God - that when you pray, it’s as good as Jesus praying Himself.

“Now when Peter had come to Antioch, I withstood him to his face, because he was to be blamed; for before certain men came from James, he would eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision. And the rest of the Jews also played the hypocrite with him, so that even Barnabas was carried away with their hypocrisy. But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter before them all, “If you, being a Jew, live in the manner of Gentiles and not as the Jews, why do you compel Gentiles to live as Jews? We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles, knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.” (Galatians 2:11-16 NKJV)

Hebrews 10:9-12 - Jesus’ work was finished after one sacrifice for sins forever.
If we know that Jesus’ sacrifice worked, then we should have no more sin-consciousness.
Under grace, to still have sin-consciousness means this:
You believe that Jesus’ sacrifice at the cross is not good enough to cleanse you of your sins.

“then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God.” He takes away the first that He may establish the second. By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God,” (Hebrews 10:9-12 NKJV)

The problem today is that in the pulpit, there isn’t enough preachers that are communicating the clear message that we are completely forgiven of all our sins.

If you know the value of Jesus and His sacrifice, that He is an overpayment of your sin debt, you will have boldness in drawing near to God and asking Him for all your needs.

These sermon notes are independently-compiled by me, and I'm just a loyal and regular attendee of the the church's Sunday services, and I feel led to take detailed personal sermon notes of Pastor Prince's anointed messages to share them with the world, which desperately needs the true word of God and the original gospel of grace.

Hi Virgie, my wife and I both pray in tongues. We received this spiritual gift when our friends prayed for us to receive it.
