8 April 2018 - Condemnation is the Deepest Root of our Problems - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes Online - New Creation Church Sermon Notes Online

Praise and Worship songs performed:

  2. King of my Heart - John Mark Mcmillan
  3. Only You - New Creation Worship

It seems like the world is increasingly depressed, anxious and worried. It’s one of the signs of the end times that Jesus mentioned - men’s hearts will fail them.

In these end times when darkness covers the earth and deep darkness upon the world, the glory of the Lord will be seen clearly upon us believers!

The Bible calls Death an enemy. God never meant for man to die.
God’s dream for man is to live healthy, with a poised mind and stable emotions.
Why is there so much death and chaos in the world today? Because of man’s sin.

Long before the body is broken, the heart is broken. That is where our problems begin.

The devil puts evil thoughts in our minds and when he does that he uses the personal pronoun.
For example: “I am a useless failure”.
So you end up accepting those thoughts and believing them. That’s the evil ‘genius’ of the devil.

Today we are declared righteous because of what Jesus did for us at the cross.
But does mean that we that our actions are always righteous? No.
When we sin, do we become sinners again? No.
When a caterpillar has become a butterfly, can it reverse and become a caterpillar again by what it does? No.
We are righteous not because we do good. It’s because of what Jesus has done.

God gave man a chance to exercise his free will - He planted the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil in the midst of all the trees that God said man could freely eat from.

After Adam sinned, his first reaction was to hide himself. We have a tendency to hide ourselves behind our careers, possessions, etc. to cover up our guilt and feelings of inadequacy.
The first question asked in the Bible was from God, “Who told you that you were naked?”.
The first question in the New Testament is the answer to man’s covering nakedness: “Where is He Who is born King of the Jews?”.

Autoimmune disorders happen when your body’s system is fighting against itself.
It happens because of stress.
Sheep cannot lie down in green pastures when they are stressed.
What causes stress? Fear - which is a deeper root than stress.
When sheep are afraid of danger, they cannot rest.
What causes fear? Condemnation - the deepest root.
God’s way to help us is to remove the root causing our problems.

People who blame themselves and are under condemnation punish themselves.
One of the ways this happens is that their bodies produce sickness and disease to punish themselves.
Guilt will rob you of peace of mind, health in your body, and your relationships.
Sometimes when a person is under condemnation, they take out that guilt on their loved ones.
That is why the gospel is so important -the knowledge of the forgiveness of all our sins will set us free from condemnation.
There is now therefore no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

God is righteous in making you righteous. Jesus’ death at the cross paid for all your sins.

Condemnation is the deepest root of our problems that produces fear and stress in our lives. God's way to help us is to remove condemnation from our hearts through the preaching of the gospel!

We have not because we ask not

Genesis 18:2, 7, 10-12 - By this time, God has already declared Abraham righteous.
God brought Abraham to see the stars. The ancients knew that the gospel was written in the stars.
This is not astrology. Astrology is a perversion from the devil.
The constellation begins with Virgo - the Virgin. God sent His Son born through the Mary the virgin.
The constellation ends with Leo - the Lion of Judah - our victorious Lord Jesus Christ who has conquered sin and death.
Abraham ran to meet the Lord and they ate together. Abraham didn’t just walk.
We will mount up with wings like eagles, we will run and not be weary, we will walk and not faint.
One year from then, Abraham would have a son (Isaac) through Sarah, his lawful wife.
Sarah eavesdropped on Abraham and the Lord’s conversation and she laughed within herself.
She wasn’t laughing about the possibility of having a child but she was laughing about having intimate pleasure (enjoying life) at her age.
The key to fruitfulness is to enjoy life the way the Lord has intended for us - while you're enjoying your life, people are blessed as an overflow from you.
If you're trying for a child, don't worry and stress over it, just enjoy the intimacy with your spouse!

“So he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, three men were standing by him; and when he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them, and bowed himself to the ground...
And Abraham ran to the herd, took a tender and good calf, gave it to a young man, and he hastened to prepare it...
And He said, “I will certainly return to you according to the time of life, and behold, Sarah your wife shall have a son.” (Sarah was listening in the tent door which was behind him.) Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well advanced in age; and Sarah had passed the age of childbearing. Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, “After I have grown old, shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?”” (Genesis 18:2, 7, 10-12 NKJV)

Genesis 18:22-26 - The “righteous” here is referring to Lot, Abraham’s nephew.
Lot is a picture of a defeated righteous man, whereas Abraham is a picture of a victorious righteous man.
Jesus never rebuked His disciples for asking too much from Him.
He rebuked them for asking too little when He is so full of God’s supply.
You have not because you ask not. The problem today is that not enough people are asking God for what they want.
In God’s world there is no scarcity. The economy of heaven is different from the way economics works this world.

“Then the men turned away from there and went toward Sodom, but Abraham still stood before the LORD. And Abraham came near and said, “Would You also destroy the righteous with the wicked? Suppose there were fifty righteous within the city; would You also destroy the place and not spare it for the fifty righteous that were in it? Far be it from You to do such a thing as this, to slay the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous should be as the wicked; far be it from You! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?” So the LORD said, “If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes.”” (Genesis 18:22-26 NKJV)

When you face the sun directly, your face is the most radiant.
When you look to the Lord directly, you will be radiant with His glory.
The greatest advertisement for the Lord is a believer with a radiant personality.

Jesus can even compress time for you. At the wedding in Cana, He turned water into wine in one fell swoop.
In the natural,  juice from the fruit of the vine would take many years to become good wine.
Dare to ask God for big things. You have not because you ask not.

Genesis 18:32-33 - Abraham bargained with God and stopped at 10 righteous men.
When Abraham stopped, the Lord left.
In Jesus’ miracle of the multiplication of the loaves, God multiplied the loaves until the people were all satisfied.  The supply only stopped after they were full.
God’s supply is always greater than the demand.

“Then he said, “Let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak but once more: Suppose ten should be found there?” And He said, “I will not destroy it for the sake of ten.” So the LORD went His way as soon as He had finished speaking with Abraham; and Abraham returned to his place.” (Genesis 18:32-33 NKJV)

Galatians 4:22-31 - A principle of Bible interpretation: God uses allegories to allude to truths.
Isaac and Ishmael have the same father but different mothers.
Sarah represents grace whereas Haggar represents the Law.
Believers today share the same Heavenly Father but not every believer recognizes the same mother.
Some believers support the Law and claim to live by it, whereas other believers live by grace.

“For it is written that Abraham had two sons: the one by a bondwoman, the other by a freewoman. But he who was of the bondwoman was born according to the flesh, and he of the freewoman through promise, which things are symbolic. For these are the two covenants: the one from Mount Sinai which gives birth to bondage, which is Hagar— for this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children— but the Jerusalem above is free, which is the mother of us all. For it is written: “Rejoice, O barren, You who do not bear! Break forth and shout, You who are not in labor! For the desolate has many more children Than she who has a husband.” Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are children of promise. But, as he who was born according to the flesh then persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, even so it is now. Nevertheless what does the Scripture say? “Cast out the bondwoman and her son, for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.” So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman but of the free.” (Galatians 4:22-31 NKJV)

Genesis 19:29 - God will not destroy the righteous with the wicked.
The judgements of God  will come after we (the believers) have been removed from earth through the Rapture.

“And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when He overthrew the cities in which Lot had dwelt.” (Genesis 19:29 NKJV)

Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed because there were not even 10 righteous men in them. Abraham felt condemned because he thought that Lot had died in the city and that he should have bargained with God until He would pardon the cities if there was just 1 righteous man in them. The condemnation Abraham was under produced fear and stress in him, leading him to lie to Abimelech.

Abraham felt condemned because he thought that Lot had died in the city and that he should have bargained with God until He would pardon the cities if there was just 1 righteous man in them. The condemnation Abraham was under produced fear and stress in him, leading him to lie to Abimelech.

Condemnation produces fear and stress. Meditate on God's word to prosper in all things!

Genesis 20:1-7 - Abraham lied by trying to use a technicality - Sarah was Abraham’s half sister.
Adam and Eve had many sons and daughters and their children married within the family - even though Adam was cursed to die when he sinned, he had so much life in him that he lived over 900 years.
At that time the recessive genes that cause abnormalities through inter-familial marriages were not so corrupted yet - the genes were more pure.
Cain and Abel married their sisters.
Even though it was Abraham who lied, Abimelech was the one whom God warned.
God wants to restore grace (Sarah) back to faith (Abraham - declared righteous by faith).
When you pray with faith without grace, it becomes legalistic.
We need grace to be our wife, not our sister.
The difference between wife and sister is our level of intimacy with each of them.
Many believers are treating grace only as a sister, and they are not loving grace like a wife.
“Kadesh” means “sanctuary” and “Shur” means “wall”. It is a place of protection. Gerar means “meditate”.
In this place of meditation, healing was first mentioned and there is protection.
When you meditate on God’s word, healing takes place and you enjoy divine protection.

“And Abraham journeyed from there to the South, and dwelt between Kadesh and Shur, and stayed in Gerar. Now Abraham said of Sarah his wife, “She is my sister.” And Abimelech king of Gerar sent and took Sarah. But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, “Indeed you are a dead man because of the woman whom you have taken, for she is a man’s wife.” But Abimelech had not come near her; and he said, “Lord, will You slay a righteous nation also? Did he not say to me, ‘She is my sister’? And she, even she herself said, ‘He is my brother.’ In the integrity of my heart and innocence of my hands I have done this.” And God said to him in a dream, “Yes, I know that you did this in the integrity of your heart. For I also withheld you from sinning against Me; therefore I did not let you touch her. Now therefore, restore the man’s wife; for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you and you shall live. But if you do not restore her, know that you shall surely die, you and all who are yours.”” (Genesis 20:1-7 NKJV)

Genesis 20:14-18 - The Law of First Mention: whenever the Bible mentions a subject for the first time, there is something significant to be learned there. It will also help you interpret that subject when it's mentioned again in the other books of the Bible.
There are three first mentions in this chapter.
This is the first time “prophet” is mentioned. A prophet is God’s spokesman.
A prophet doesn’t mean that you’re perfect. We believers are God’s spokespeople. God speaks through His people today.
This is also the first time healing is mentioned in the Bible.
Abraham wasn’t perfect (he just lied), but he could still pray for the sick and they were healed.
Healing is prayed for by people who are not perfect, for people who are not perfect.
Prayer is mentioned here for the first time in the Bible.
Abraham the imperfect man prayed and the result was perfect.
Prayer is made by people who are imperfect.
We don’t have to be perfect before coming to Jesus. We don’t make sure that we are clean before taking a bath. We come just as we are.
While we are still not perfect in our walk with God, Jesus wants us to enjoy His blessings as we are learning to walk perfectly with Him.

“Then Abimelech took sheep, oxen, and male and female servants, and gave them to Abraham; and he restored Sarah his wife to him. And Abimelech said, “See, my land is before you; dwell where it pleases you.” Then to Sarah he said, “Behold, I have given your brother a thousand pieces of silver; indeed this vindicates you before all who are with you and before everybody.” Thus she was rebuked. So Abraham prayed to God; and God healed Abimelech, his wife, and his female servants. Then they bore children; for the LORD had closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech because of Sarah, Abraham’s wife.” (Genesis 20:14-18 NKJV)

When we walk into an empty store, people start coming in too (and soon it is crowded) because of the Holy Spirit who lives in us. We are the light of the world. The favor of God is with us.

Why did Abraham lie in Genesis 20 when he was just full of faith in Genesis 18? He was under condemnation for not bargaining with God to pardon Sodom and Gomorrah if there was just 1 righteous man.
He knew that there was at least one righteous man - Lot.
Abraham didn’t know that Lot was still alive after the cities were destroyed.
He knew that Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed but had no news about what happened to Lot.
Whenever there is condemnation, it produces fear and stress. People lie because of fear of consequences.

Genesis 26:1-3, 12-13 - Dwell in the place of meditation (Gerar) and God will bless you.
Meditate can take the form of asking questions about God’s word.
When you meditate on God’s word, you will prosper. Not just spiritually, but in all ways - including finances.
When you prosper and succeed, people will become jealous and talk about you. That’s one of the costs of being prosperous.

“There was a famine in the land, besides the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Philistines, in Gerar. Then the LORD appeared to him and said: “Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land of which I shall tell you. Dwell in this land, and I will be with you and bless you; for to you and your descendants I give all these lands, and I will perform the oath which I swore to Abraham your father...
Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the LORD blessed him. The man began to prosper, and continued prospering until he became very prosperous;” (Genesis 26:1-3, 12-13 NKJV)

Pastor Prince’s Closing Prayer:
This week, we are encouraged to take a verse and meditate on it - we will prosper and keep on prospering.
He prayed for us to enjoy God’s protection, provision, wholeness, health and shalom.

You don't have to be perfect before coming to Jesus. Come to Him as you are. You don't clean yourself before going in the bath. Jesus is the Bath.
