28 October 2018 - The Power of Praise and Worship
  - Pastor Lawrence Lim Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Sermon Notes

Praise and Worship songs performed:
  1. This is Amazing Grace - Jeremy Riddle
  2. God, You’re So Good - Brett Younker
  3. Stronger - New Creation Worship
  4. Defender - John-Paul Gentile
  5. Here I Bow - Brian Johnson
  6. What a Beautiful Name - Hillsong Worship
  7. Break Every Chain - Jesus Culture

Researchers believe that listening to classical music can lower people’s stress, make one more emotionally vulnerable, sleep easier, and easier to crack a smile.
Subjects who listen to Mozart’s “Sonata” for just 10 mins, show increased IQ levels. This is called “The Mozart Effect”.

II Kings 3:9-20 - Ahab, the wicked king of Israel, had died. His son, Jeroboam, took over as king and he was wicked too. Using the instability of the kingdom, Moab rose up against Israel.
Judah and Edom allied with Israel to fight against Moab. This is the backdrop of this passage.
Elisha didn’t want to inquire of the Lord for Jeroboam. But he did it on account of the righteous king of Judah, Jehoshaphat.
Elisha had no heart to prophesy at this time, but he knew that anointed music would help to bring the Lord into the situation.
Have you lost the passion or fire for your calling?
Anointed music can motivate and inspire us from within.
Expose yourself to anointed music. Something good happens when you listen to it.
A miracle happened: the armies of Moab saw blood instead of water.
Through this occurrence the allied armies were able to rout and defeat the armies of Moab.
The entrance of God’s word into our ears and hearts gives life.

“So the king of Israel went with the king of Judah and the king of Edom, and they marched for seven days along a circuitous route. There was no water for the army or for the animals that followed them. The king of Israel said, “Alas! For Yahweh has called these three kings together to deliver them into the hand of Moab.” But Jehoshaphat said, “Isn’t there a prophet of Yahweh here, that we may inquire of Yahweh by him?” One of the king of Israel’s servants answered, “Elisha the son of Shaphat, who poured water on the hands of Elijah, is here.” Jehoshaphat said, “Yahweh’s word is with him.” So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him. Elisha said to the king of Israel, “What have I to do with you? Go to the prophets of your father, and to the prophets of your mother.” The king of Israel said to him, “No, for Yahweh has called these three kings together to deliver them into the hand of Moab.” Elisha said, “As Yahweh of Armies lives, before whom I stand, surely, were it not that I respect the presence of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look toward you, nor see you. But now bring me a musician.” When the musician played, Yahweh’s hand came on him. He said, “Yahweh says, ‘Make this valley full of trenches.’ For Yahweh says, ‘You will not see wind, neither will you see rain, yet that valley will be filled with water, and you will drink, both you and your livestock and your other animals. This is an easy thing in Yahweh’s sight. He will also deliver the Moabites into your hand. You shall strike every fortified city, and every choice city, and shall fell every good tree, and stop all springs of water, and mar every good piece of land with stones.’” In the morning, about the time of offering the sacrifice, behold, water came by the way of Edom, and the country was filled with water.” (2 Kings 3:9-20 WEB)

I Samuel 16:23 - The evil spirit only left after Saul was refreshed and well.
There is a real physical and emotional benefit when you listen to anointed music.

“When the spirit from God was on Saul, David took the harp, and played with his hand; so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.” (1 Samuel 16:23 WEB)

Pastor Lawrence recommends us to listen to Pastor Joseph Prince’s Worship album: “A Touch of His Presence”.
That album is filled with spontaneous, anointed songs sung in the Spirit. In Pastor Lawrence’s own words, “It will be an investment for your soul”.

It’s not the music itself, but the anointing of the Holy Spirit that is captured in the music.
Use your smartphone to store and listen to God’s word and anointed music. Let them deliver you when you’re feeling down.

Anointed music can motivate and inspire us from within. Expose yourself to anointed music. Something good happens when you listen to it.

Sandcastles Don't Last Forever

$14.99 $9.99

This is the eBook version.

If you prefer to get the Paperback version (physical copy), you can get it on Amazon here for US$15.

About the Book:

One day when I was singing praises to God, an image floated up in my spirit: a big and beautiful sandcastle being washed away by the waves from the sea. God was teaching me the futility of holding tightly onto worldly possessions because like the sandcastle, they won't last, and one day will cease to exist.

He taught me from His word to focus on Him and by doing so, I would reap great eternal rewards before Jesus' throne at the start of the Millennium. These rewards will last forever and can't be destroyed or stolen.

It is my prayer that the revelations in this book will help you to live with a focus on the things above where God is, fulfill your God-given calling in life, be happier and to accumulate more eternal rewards to your account.

In this Book, you will learn about:

- Heavenly investment advice and the futility of worldly pursuits from a trillionaire in the Bible

- Why God has to reward us in order to be righteous

- When and how God will destroy the current earth and sky to make way for new ones

- The types of fireproof works that earn eternal rewards at the end of time

- The abundant rewards of doing good works while abiding by the non-disclosure agreement between God and you

- The difference between the temporary places of torment: Sheol and Abaddon

- Who is the Antichrist and his name revealed in the Bible

- What is the Mark of the Beast and why it disqualifies its recipients from receiving salvation

- The different judgments at the throne of Jesus Christ and what it means for you as a believer

- How to fulfill your calling and maximize your gifts to receive the best eternal rewards

Testimonials about the contents of this book:

"Sandcastles Don't Last Forever is very well written, its message loud and clear. Milton Goh gives common-sense insight on often confusing Scripture, which is much appreciated in these troubled times. My understanding of the Bible has definitely improved."

- Mike Garrett, first Editor/ Publisher for Stephen King and Author of Christian Novel "Innocence Denied", from USA

"This book is absolutely breathtaking. We don't work to be saved but were created to do good works. I am so energized and excited to know God values our works and we will be rewarded. This is all Glory to Jesus... I cant wait to throw my crowns at his feet and thank him for saving my life!" - Evangelist Michael Clark from USA

"Dear Milton Goh, I truly thank our Abba, Father for the revelations in this book. It is so amazing how I begin to discover important verses in the Bible that I have never read. That instead of following riches, with sleepless nights, and actually shortening our lives, we are just to 'Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ', and 'Love one another'. How beautiful to find out that actually in the Bible there is both 'Earthly or Worldly Investment Wisdom' and 'Eternal Investment Wisdom' according to the revelations here from Ecclesiastes 5:14-17 WEB)!; “It seems like Solomon was not only wise at earning material riches but also at earning eternal riches.” All the glory to our Lord Jesus Christ! God bless you Milton Goh for such a wonderful book!" - Nitta Nierra from Belgium

“Thank you Milton. I have just finished reading “Sandcastles Don’t Last Forever”. It’s such a good book that's filled with God's word. I love it very much. Might read again if I have the time. Thanks so much!” - Mally Chai from Singapore

"I'm reading this book and loving it! The revelations of the Gospel truth shared and it's life applications are absolutely amazing! I give glory to the Lord Jesus for my dear brother Milton for this exceptional resource. I'm gonna keep feeding on its contents and believe God for supernatural breakthroughs as my mind is renewed in Christ!" - Terence from Tombel, Cameroon

“Excellent book!! I enjoyed reading it so much and definitely recommend it! Milton is so gifted and all his teachings have blessed me tremendously! I thank God for people like him. Get this book, it will be worth it!” - Madeleine from SA, “Unmerited Favor” tier patron

Praise is the highest work you can do as a believer

David wrote 76 psalms in the Book of Psalms and even invented instruments that allowed him to worship the Lord.

Psalm 22:3 - This is a psalm about the Messiah suffering on the cross. Jesus also sang psalms from the Book of Psalms together with His disciples.
The word “inhabit” is “yashab”’ in Hebrew.
God inhabits, sits down, abides. is enthroned and is married to the praises of His people.
Praise will bring the presence of God. God enters and takes up residence when you praise Him.
“Praise is the highest work carried out by God’s children.” - Watchman Nee from China.
Praise is powerful - whenever you praise God, something good happens. Whether you can sing well or not, you can still praise God.
When you praise Him, His manifested glory comes into the situation.

“But you are holy, you who inhabit the praises of Israel.” (Psalms 22:3 WEB)

II Chronicles 5:11-14 - The Holy Spirit deemed it fit to record the words of the singers so that we would know what the singers were worshipping God for.
The worshippers were ‘slain in the Spirit’ - they could not stand in God’s manifested presence.
It’s time to open your mouth and praise the Lord.

“When the priests had come out of the holy place (for all the priests who were present had sanctified themselves, and didn’t keep their divisions; also the Levites who were the singers, all of them, even Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun, and their sons and their brothers, arrayed in fine linen, with cymbals and stringed instruments and harps, stood at the east end of the altar, and with them one hundred twenty priests sounding with trumpets); when the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking Yahweh; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised Yahweh, saying, “For he is good; for his loving kindness endures forever!” then the house was filled with a cloud, even Yahweh’s house, so that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud; for Yahweh’s glory filled God’s house.” (2 Chronicles 5:11-14 WEB)

The Hebrew word for praise is “yadah” made of the Hebrew letters Yud (Hand) Dalet (Door) Hei (Grace).
When you praise the Lord, you are opening the door to grace!

Whenever the people of God in the Bible worshipped God, they received their breakthrough

Numbers 21:16-18 - When the children of Israel sang a song of praise, the Lord gave them water.
In the dry seasons of your life, sing praises to the Lord.
A Christian is not supposed to be down and depressed. We should have the joy of the Lord in us!

“From there they traveled to Beer; that is the well of which Yahweh said to Moses, “Gather the people together, and I will give them water.” Then Israel sang this song: “Spring up, well! Sing to it, the well, which the princes dug, which the nobles of the people dug, with the scepter, and with their poles.” From the wilderness they traveled to Mattanah;” (Numbers 21:16-18 WEB)

Matthew 8:1-3 - In the New Testament, whenever someone who was sick worshipped God, they got healed.
By worshipping Jesus, the leper was saying that Jesus is God.

“When he came down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. Behold, a leper came to him and worshiped him, saying, “Lord, if you want to, you can make me clean.” Jesus stretched out his hand, and touched him, saying, “I want to. Be made clean.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.” (Matthew 8:1-3 WEB)

Matthew 9:18-19 - Jairus was the ruler of the local synagogue (like a senior pastor of a local church). He didn’t care what the congregation would think. He recognized Jesus as God and worshipped Him.

“While he told these things to them, behold, a ruler came and worshiped him, saying, “My daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live.” Jesus got up and followed him, as did his disciples.” (Matthew 9:18-19 WEB)

Matthew 9:23-25 - Just because something is dead doesn’t mean that it will remain dead.
Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life. He can resurrect what is dead in your life.

“When Jesus came into the ruler’s house, and saw the flute players, and the crowd in noisy disorder, he said to them, “Make room, because the girl isn’t dead, but sleeping.” They were ridiculing him. But when the crowd was put out, he entered in, took her by the hand, and the girl arose.” (Matthew 9:23-25 WEB)

Mark 5:1-6 - The demoniac was cutting himself every day because he wanted to die.
The demons could not stop the demoniac from worshipping Jesus.
What no man could do to save him, Jesus in one moment, delivered him.

“They came to the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes. When he had come out of the boat, immediately a man with an unclean spirit met him out of the tombs. He lived in the tombs. Nobody could bind him any more, not even with chains, because he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been torn apart by him, and the fetters broken in pieces. Nobody had the strength to tame him. Always, night and day, in the tombs and in the mountains, he was crying out, and cutting himself with stones. When he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and bowed down to him,” (Mark 5:1-6 WEB)

Acts 16:25-26 - Paul and Silas praised the Lord and every prisoner was set free.

“But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s bonds were loosened.” (Acts 16:25-26 WEB)

Jehoshaphat and his worshippers sang these words “Give thanks to the Lord, for His mercy endures forever”.
When they did that, their enemies fought among themselves and were all defeated. God stepped in and wrought a victory for them.

John 4:21-24 - Worship is not about location anymore. Today God is our Abba Father who loves and welcomes us into His presence. It is His heart to bless us.
We don’t worship to earn brownie points in order to be forgiven. We worship because we are forgiven.
The minor prophet Amos said that God is restoring the Tabernacle of David in the latter days - our times.
In the Tabernacle of David, there is only one piece of furniture: the Ark of the Covenant. Not like the Tabernacle of Moses where there are many barriers to God’s presence.
We (believers) can all enjoy unrestricted access to God’s presence today.

“Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe me, the hour comes, when neither in this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, will you worship the Father. You worship that which you don’t know. We worship that which we know; for salvation is from the Jews. But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such to be his worshipers. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”” (John 4:21-24 WEB)

Closing Prayer:
Pastor Lawrence prayed that we would greatly desire the presence of God. He prayed for our protection and to enjoy the great favor of God everywhere we go this week! In Jesus’ name, Amen!
