8 December 2019 - The Right Timing for Your Breakthrough - Pastor Benjamin Lim Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Sermon Notes

Pastor Benjamin Lim said that this sermon is entitled "My Last Sermon" but i'm not sure if he was joking because he was laughing when he said that, so I took the liberty to name it something else!

We must never get tired of hearing the word of Grace because it is the Gospel. Don’t get familiar with it.

Acts 20:32 - It’s not the word of the Law that builds you up—it’s the word of God’s Grace that builds you up.
Sometimes our breakthroughs in life don’t come to us, but through us.
God builds us up stronger so we can overcome our challenges.
Inheritance is exciting because it’s something we don’t have to work for.
We only need to say yes and receive it.

“Now, brothers, I entrust you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build up, and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.” ‭‭(Acts‬ ‭20:32‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

When you hear the word of Grace, miracles and supply come into your life.
It is by the ‘foolishness’ of preaching that God saves us.

2 Corinthians 3:18 - Sometimes God does instant miracles and at other times He works in our lives gradually.
When God enters our lives, we become brighter and more beautiful.
Grace is progressive in our lives. Sinful habits drop off gradually.
Let God clean up your sinful behaviors by confessing that you are still the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, even in the midst of your sin.
Over time you will grow to hate your sinful habits and will no longer be able to enjoy them.
When you know and believe you are right with God, everything in your life will gradually become right.
When the journey is long, it doesn’t mean that it’s wrong.
You are next in line for a breakthrough—God is open for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

“Nothing between us and God, our faces shining with the brightness of his face. And so we are transfigured much like the Messiah, our lives gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as God enters our lives and we become like him.” ‭‭(2 Corinthians‬ ‭3:16-18‬ ‭MSG‬‬)

Don’t feel guilty when you don’t read the Bible—feel hungry. The Bible is God’s love letter to us.
In these 66 books of the Bible, He prepared an answer for us in every situation we will ever face in life.

Pastor Benjamin Lim shared that God has a right timing for everything in our lives. Going fast doesn’t mean you will arrive at your destination. Go slowly and consistently by God's Grace and you will reach your destination. Weapons may be formed against you on the way, but they won't prosper, as God is for you!

The effects of Grace usually happen gradually. There is a fullness of time coming for you to experience that full breakthrough!

Ecclesiastes 9:11 - In a moment of crisis, dial this number Ecclesiastes 911.
Reading the Bible does not qualify you for God’s blessings—it is about understanding and believing God’s love for you.
When the fullness of time came, Jesus came into the world.
There is a fullness of time—a progression, for things to happen.
A delay could be the Lord preparing you for the blessings which are on the way.
In our social media age, everything is so instantaneous and at our fingertips that we become frustrated and impatient when delays happen.
God has a right timing for everything in our lives.
Going fast doesn’t mean you will arrive at your destination. Go slowly and consistently and you will reach your destination.
Sometimes things go slowly for your benefit.

“I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happen to them all.” ‭‭(Ecclesiastes‬ ‭9:11‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

James 1:2-4 - Sometimes we are so impatient that we want patience now too.
Sometimes there is a delay in your life because God is developing patience in you.
Patience makes you perfect (spiritually mature) and complete, lacking nothing.

“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” ‭‭(James‬ ‭1:2-4‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Joseph had a prophetic dream when he was 17, but that prophecy only came to pass when he was 30.
Joseph had a gift of dreams but God was building patience in him to make him perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
Joseph received the gift of interpreting dreams only through his trials in Egypt.
Time develops patience, maturity and restfulness in us.

The litmus test of whether you are flowing with God’s Grace is whether you are restful.

The Hebrew word “qarah” can refer to “prayed opportunities”. When you pray, God can put you in the right place at the right time.

Prayer is not a work. It demonstrates your dependence on the Lord.

In 2006, Pastor Benjamin Lim was told by three neurosurgeons to undergo an open-head surgery because of a tumor in his head which pressed on his acoustic nerve, rendering him deaf in one ear.

Year after year, he went to have an MRI scan to check if the tumor was still there, but the tumor was still there and growing.
In 2013, he decided not to go for an MRI scan anymore—for 6 years he didn’t go.

Last month he went for an MRI scan and the report showed that the tumor shrank by 65%.

Lying symptoms are lying symptoms. Sometimes when lying symptoms get worse, it’s because God’s healing has already begun inside you.

Isaiah 54:17 - Weapons may be formed against you, but they will not prosper.
A medical report is temporary, but a heavenly report is coming to you.

“No weapon that is formed against you will prevail; and you will condemn every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of Yahweh’s servants, and their righteousness is of me,” says Yahweh.” ‭‭(Isaiah‬ ‭54:17‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Grace may not always be instant, but it can bring powerful, gradual results in your life.

Romans 8:31-32 - Sometimes things come against you—that may be true, but the truth is that God is for you, so nothing evil can successfully triumph over you.
Grace is free because Jesus suffered and died for you—He paid the price!
Grace is unearned, unmerited, undeserved favor for us.
Get Jesus, get everything free!

“What then shall we say about these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who didn’t spare his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how would he not also with him freely give us all things?” ‭‭(Romans‬ ‭8:31-32‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

God is turning around situations in your life and is releasing breakthroughs now in your life. God’s Grace is sufficient for us.

It is still the year of the latter rain. Expect something wonderful to happen to you in the rest of this month.
Grace doesn’t just get you to Heaven—it brings Heaven down for us as well.
