6 January 2019 - Vision Sunday: The Year of the Latter Rain - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Theme of the Year

The theme of the year is not just a custom or tradition. It is an emphasis that shows the overarching theme of what God is going to do this year. 

When we leave the year it doesn’t mean that we leave the theme. We add on to the theme. 

God uses trials to teach us to trust Him. He is not the source of our trials, but He can turn around what the enemy has sent us, for good. 

There are two main words used in Scripture for Time: Chronos (chronology, time) and Kairos (season).
When you do things in season, you find success. When you do the right thing at the wrong time, it’s not effective. 

There was a time whereby God dealt with man based on his performance. 
God gave man the ‘Big Ten’ and they were blessed if they kept all the Ten Commandments. 
However if they failed in one, they were guilty of all. 
God gave us the Law to show that man is a sinner and cannot save himself - we need a Savior.

If a man looks at a woman to lust in his heart, he’s already guilty of adultery. 
If you hate someone in your heart, you’ve committed murder. We’re all guilty. No one can keep the Law. 

Those who know they are forgiven much, love much. 

Who you are is the person you are when no one is looking. God judges based on the heart, not by outward actions. 

Christianity is not a religion. It is a relationship with the God who created the heavens and the earth. 

Since no one could keep the Law, God chose to disrobe Himself and come down on earth as a Man. 
Jesus is not a new Moses. He didn’t come as a Lawgiver or Judge, but as a Savior. 
Jesus saved us from eternal death, from our sins, sickness, etc. We are redeemed from the curse! 

God loves man, but sin is in man. God hates sin.
Sin is like a cancer in us. How much you hate the cancer is based on how much you love the person. 
God hates sin so much because He loves us SO much. 

Jesus became a sin-bearer. All the wrath of God was exhausted upon Jesus at the cross. 
There was no more wrath left for us after Jesus had absorbed it all in Himself.
Now God can accept man judicially. 
When man believes in Jesus, all that Jesus accomplished at the cross is imputed to him. 

When a person realizes how much God loves him, he will fall in love with God and fall out of love with sin.

When we don’t see the cross, we will unconsciously punish ourselves and the ones closest to us. That’s because the sin issue is not dealt with in that person’s conscience.

You can tell that a teaching is right when it points people to Jesus and not to oneself. 

What is Gospel? The Gospel is “Good News”.

2019 is the Year of the Latter Rain. Are you ready to receive showers of blessing and a bountiful harvest?

God still wants us to ask Him for His showers of blessing, even though He has already promised it

​Pastor Prince feels that God is telling us to just spend time walking 2-3 times a week. Walk as often as you can. Not running, walking.
When you get a parking lot that’s not so near your destination, thank God for it because you get to walk! 

Zechariah 10:1 - 2019 is the Year of the Latter Rain! 
God wants us to ASK Him for the rain, even when it’s already promised to be the time for latter rain.
Covet (have an insatiable desire for) God’s blessings - that’s the only right way to covet. 
When the world depends on their own smarts, let us depend on the blessing of God.
Babylon is Iraq today. Back then, Israel was taken captive by King Nebuchadnezzar because of their exceeding sinfulness.
The prophet Jeremiah prophesied that the captivity in Babylon would last for 70 years. 
In Babylon, Daniel (a Jew) who was promoted to become a high ranking minister there realized that the prophecy is that Israel would be captive for 70 years. 
Yet he prayed for Israel to be freed from captivity in Bablylon to go back to their homeland. 

“Ask the LORD for rain In the time of the latter rain. The LORD will make flashing clouds; He will give them showers of rain, Grass in the field for everyone.” (Zechariah 10:1 NKJV)

“They asked of Jehovah rain in a time of latter rain, Jehovah is making lightnings, And rain [in] showers He doth give to them. To each — the herb in the field.” (Zechariah 10:1 YLT1898)

The Law says don’t muzzle the oxen when they are treading out the grain. The Apostle Paul revealed that it’s not animals that God is concerned about but man. 
For those who serve God, don’t hold them back from enjoying the benefits. Be kind to your spiritual ministers. 

Deuteronomy 11:14-15 - Former rain (yoreh) is the season of autumn (October) and latter rain (malqosh) is the season of spring (March - April). 
Yoreh (also means arrow in Hebrew) and moreh (means teacher). A teacher shoots words like arrows into your heart. 
Malqosh is related to gathering. This year it’s time to gather in. 
God sends out His word and it doesn’t come back void. 
Grain, wine and oil are the main produce of Israel, even today. 
The latter rain is a time and season for harvest. 
Whatever you’re believing for is going to come to fruition this year - your quick and easy manifestation is at hand! 
This year is a year whereby you will receive your healing breakthrough by taking Holy Communion (bread and wine). 
This year is also a year whereby you will use the anointing that’s upon you (oil). 
There will be an ease in the way you go about your days this year - you’ll be like a well-oiled machine. 
There will be an increase of an anointing within (read about it in 1 John 2) you, from the Holy Spirit. 
How is rain formed? God allows dust in the air to mix with water and it becomes droplets that fall gently that don’t even destroy a delicate flower. 
The word from God’s mouth is so concentrated and powerful that is can easily destroy us if it all drops at one time. 
God sends His word to us like raindrops. It doesn’t drop at one go as a block of water and destroy us. It’s gentle. 
Drugs, overeating, overdrinking (alcohol) and smoking can cut your life short. The devil is trying to kill off people. 
In 2018 the devil sent out an onslaught of spirits causing depression throughout the world. Even celebrities were committing suicide. 
God is a Joygiver. God will give us a spirit of praise (joy) for the spirit of heaviness (depression). 
The time of harvest is a joyful time in Israel whereby the people celebrate and the children step on the grapes, having fun.

“that I will give the rain of your land in its season, the former rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your new wine, and your oil. I will give grass in your fields for your livestock, and you shall eat and be full.” (Deuteronomy 11:14-15 WEB)

When you work, God rests. When you rest, God works. When you think you have to resolve things on your own, God will let you do it on your own until you ask Him for help. 

Ezekiel 36:35-37 - God still wants us to inquire of Him, even when He’s already promised to do something.
He loves it when His people seek Him in faith.

“They shall say, This land that was desolate has become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are fortified and inhabited. Then the nations that are left around you shall know that I, Yahweh, have built the ruined places, and planted that which was desolate: I, Yahweh, have spoken it, and I will do it. Thus says the Lord Yahweh: For this, moreover, will I be inquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them: I will increase them with men like a flock.” (Ezekiel 36:35-37 WEB)

Deuteronomy 11:10-12 - Rain points towards looking up and depending on the Lord, especially this year. 
Man was created to look up. Beasts of the earth look down.
Egypt in Hebrew is Mitzraim which means (the place of double stress). 
They watered their crops with their feet in Egypt - they were always looking down and beside them (their own works), not looking to God. 

“For the land, where you go in to possess it, isn’t as the land of Egypt, that you came out of, where you sowed your seed, and watered it with your foot, as a garden of herbs; but the land, where you go over to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys which drinks water from the rain of the sky, a land which Yahweh your God cares for. Yahweh your God’s eyes are always on it, from the beginning of the year even to the end of the year.” (Deuteronomy 11:10-12 WEB)

God can give you long life, length of days, and even renew your youth

Deuteronomy 11:21 - Ask God for days of heaven on the earth and for your days on earth to be multiplied (long life).

“that your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers to give them, as the days of the heavens above the earth.” (Deuteronomy 11:21 WEB)

Ezekiel 34:26 - The hill is a picture of the house of God. Keep coming for church. Don’t forsake the gathering as you see the Day approaching. 
The rain will come in its season this year. Over-raining is bad for the harvest. It won’t be raining the entire year.
There will be showers of blessing - we want to be drenched in these showers! When this happens, leave your umbrella at home, and joyfully soak in the showers of blessings from God. 
Pastor Prince prophesied that by Chinese New Year, your relatives will look at you and see something on/in you that they want for themselves. 

“I will make them and the places around my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in its season; there shall be showers of blessing.” (Ezekiel 34:26 WEB)

It’s very hard for the enemy to hold on to you when you are oily (with the anointing).

Joel 2:23-26 - Our revelation of the Holy Communion this year will be fuller and greater than ever. 
God calls the locusts “My great army” because of His sovereignty. He is Lord even over the challenges that happen in our lives.
The locusts swarm (blocking out the sun) and devour very quickly. 
There are people in your surroundings who may do that in your life.
On the other hand, caterpillars chew really slowly. Some enemies (schemers) destroy bit by bit over a long period of time. 
God can restore your wasted years to you.
​Young's Living Translation renders "former rain" in Joel 2:23 as "Teacher for righteousness". 
We must be established in the gift of righteousness that we have received in order to experience the latter rain. 
The Teacher of righteousness is Jesus. We must hear the correct teaching of righteousness: that Jesus’ blood makes us righteous. 
It’s not our own works that makes us righteous before God. 
The more you believe that what Jesus did at the cross is effective for you, the more you will experience the latter rain and restoration of all the years that the locusts have eaten. 

““Be glad then, you children of Zion, and rejoice in Yahweh, your God; for he gives you the former rain in just measure, and he causes the rain to come down for you, the former rain and the latter rain, as before. The threshing floors will be full of wheat, and the vats will overflow with new wine and oil. I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the great locust, the grasshopper, and the caterpillar, my great army, which I sent among you. You will have plenty to eat, and be satisfied, and will praise the name of Yahweh, your God, who has dealt wondrously with you; and my people will never again be disappointed.” (Joel 2:23-26 WEB)

“And ye sons of Zion, joy and rejoice, In Jehovah your God, For He hath given to you the Teacher for righteousness, And causeth to come down to you a shower, Sprinkling and gathered — in the beginning.” (Joel 2:23 YLT1898)

Job 33:25 - God can physically renew your youth and restore your days too. God can bless you with both length of days and long life. 

“His flesh shall be fresher than a child’s. He returns to the days of his youth.” (Job 33:25 WEB)

Deuteronomy 28:12 - God is going to prosper you this year. God wants us to claim these promises. 
Pastor Prince does not believe in material greed or covetousness. 
He said if he was really focused on making money, he would be taking more invites overseas and sell his books all around the world. It’s not smart to keep selling to the same crowd. 
A pastor should be in his home ministry more often than he’s not. If you want to travel often, be a traveling minister. 

“Yahweh will open to you his good treasure in the sky, to give the rain of your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You will lend to many nations, and you will not borrow.” (Deuteronomy 28:12 WEB)

Closing Prayer: 
Pastor Prince prayed for the crooked paths to be made straight as we enter 2019, for us to be our days to be multiplied (long life), protection from dying before our time, for renewal of our youth, patience & perseverance in trials, and for us to be drenched in showers of blessings. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
