13 October 2019 - Who is the Blessed Man - New Creation Church Sermon Notes - Pastor Lim Lian Neo Sermon Notes

The most important thing any man can do is to point to Jesus our Savior.

Your best days are ahead of you.

You think you want to learn how to serve God better, but God wants to serve you first. That’s His heart for you.
To the traditional church, this sounds almost irreverent—but they don’t know God’s heart for us.

John‬ ‭13:3-5‬ ‭- On the night that Jesus was betrayed, He stooped down on His knees and washed His disciples feet.
He even washes the lowest parts of our lives.

“Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he came from God, and was going to God, arose from supper, and laid aside his outer garments. He took a towel, and wrapped a towel around his waist. Then he poured water into the basin, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him.” ‭‭(John‬ ‭13:3-5‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Don’t strive for the perfect state. Just live in the blessed state and enjoy it.
There is no perfect wife, child, country, organization, pastor, etc. in this lifetime.

What does it mean to be a blessed man? Some believers mistakenly think that a blessed person doesn't face any challenges in life. Find out the traits and definition of a blessed man in this anointed sermon and see your Savior's heart to bless you!

A blessed man still faces challenges, but his trust is in Jesus, so he doesn't succumb to fear

Jeremiah 17:7-8 - In Christ, you’re the “blessed man”.
You’re blessed not because there are no challenges, but because you still thrive even amidst the challenges.
Even when you’re under heat and pressure, Jesus fights your battles.
Even when you’re experiencing drought (lack) in any way, Jesus is your peace and will supply all your needs.
The KJV translation uses the word “see” instead of “fear”. Even when heat (challenges) comes, the blessed man will not even see it as a challenge because his trust is in the Lord.

““Blessed is the man who trusts in Yahweh, and whose confidence is in Yahweh. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, who spreads out its roots by the river, and shall not fear when heat comes, but its leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.” ‭‭(Jeremiah‬ ‭17:7-8‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Jeremiah 17:5-6 - There is even good for the cursed man, but he can’t see it when it comes.
In contrast, the blessed man sees the good when it comes.
When your spouse offers to help, don't snap at him/her out of pride.
When your children are running around and noisy, don’t get angry—praise Jesus that they are healthy.

“Yahweh says: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man, and makes flesh his arm, and whose heart departs from Yahweh. For he shall be like a bush in the desert, and shall not see when good comes, but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, a salt land and not inhabited.” ‭‭(Jeremiah‬ ‭17:5-6‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

1 Chronicles‬ ‭4:9-10 - In this chapter which is a record of names, it is suddenly interrupted with elaboration about Jabez.
Jabez means sorrow. Every day his name would have reminded him of the pain he brought to his parents.
Even though Jabez’ past had pain and sorrow, he was still a blessed man.
Even though people called him “sorrow”, Jabez knew that was not God’s heart for him.
Jabez did not curse the heat he experienced—he knew that God’s heart was this: “surely in blessing I will bless you.”
It’s not about how you start—it’s about how you finish.

“Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother named him Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him with sorrow.” Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that you would bless me indeed, and enlarge my border! May your hand be with me, and may you keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” God granted him that which he requested.” (‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭4:9-10‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

David’s father forgot him, but David’s Heavenly Father never forgot him.
The blessed man may not start good, but his ending will be good—our ending will be awesome.

Ruth didn’t start well. She was a Moabite, she became a widow, her brother-in-law died and her father-in-law died too.
Even though she faced many challenges, she still chose to follow her mother-in-law Naomi and had hope in the God of Israel.

Another word for blessed is "happy". God wants us happy and He wants us blessed.

Weapons may be formed against us but they shall not prosper. This is the spirit of a blessed man.
You may have feelings of fear but you’re not defined by those feelings.

When you partake of the Holy Communion, don’t focus on your need for healing.
Focus on Jesus and His finished work at the cross, and envision yourself at Golgotha, as if Jesus is being slain right at that moment—have a fresh revelation of His finished work.

In the face of fear, don’t focus on your circumstances. Don’t curse the heat.
See the heart of your Savior: in blessing I will bless you, in multiplying I will multiply you. If you have lost it all, He will restore.
Keep seeing how Jesus went to the cross and paid for every curse, addiction, sickness and debt.
Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord.

Why do we read the word? Because we want to remember what God’s heart is for us—we usually forget.
Let us receive a fresh revelation from God’s word.

Why do we pray in tongues? We pray until the fear gets off.
We’re building ourselves up in the most holy faith when we pray in the spirit.
