16 February 2020 - The Anointing Oil and God’s Protection - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Sermon Notes

Pastor Joseph Prince taught us that through prayer, ordinary oil can be consecrated to become holy anointing oil. The anointing oil represents the power of the Holy Spirit, and is also a picture of Jesus being crushed because of our sins, to purchase our wholeness. When combined with prayer, applying the anointing oil is a powerful way to see healing miracles and other forms of freedom from bondage!

There are pleasures forevermore in God’s house. There is safety and protection in God’s house.

We are going to thrive during this time of fear of the coronavirus.

If the situation reaches DORSCON level Red, then the church will have to do live streaming for services.

Jesus is the Lord of Time and Space. He’s taking you higher to broader places of abundance.

Believers have light in their dwellings even when the world is in darkness.

Even if you are infected with the coronavirus, you will not die. Yahweh Shalom is protecting you. Believe that the plague will not even come near you.

Job said that the Lord gives and takes away. He was mistaken because in Job 1, we know that it’s Satan who took from Job. God restored Job for his losses.

Don’t be tricked by false Christs. Jesus will come back bodily for us on the clouds. Jesus’ return was not spiritually in AD 70—it will happen bodily. Preterist theory is error.

There have been increasing frequency of earthquakes. Another sign of Jesus’ impending return is deadly pestilences on the rise and nations rising against nations.

To pray for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven means that you bring what is true in Heaven down to earth.
In Heaven there is no sickness and the streets are made of gold.

Adam released death when he sinned. God is holding back the fullness of death from running rampage.
God doesn’t send sickness—He permits. God is the one holding evil back.

Lift up your head—your bodily redemption is coming. We will be forever young, strong and healthy.

How fast will you go when you know you can’t die? Death will have been thrown into the lake of fire in the future.

Bible measurements are in cubits—the distance between your elbow and the tip of your middle finger.

The total perimeter of the outer court of the temple is 1500 cubits. The Old Covenant of the Law lasted 1500 years.

The measurements of the Holy Place: 20 x 10 x 10 = 2000 cubits.
We are in this place. 2000 years of the church age.
We are nearing the 2000th year since Jesus’ death—Jesus died somewhere between A.D. 27 - 33.

After the Rapture happens, we will be in Heaven and we’ll be looking down at the world that will be going through the 7 years of Tribulation.

The measurement of the Holy of Holies: 10 x 10 x 10 = 1000 cubits.
That’s the 1000 years of Millennial Reign of Christ on earth in the future (aka the Millennium).

The anointing oil represents the power of the Holy Spirit that breaks every yoke of bondage

A merry heart does good like medicine. Smile more and your immune system will be strong.

Luke 10:19 - “Nothing” is a double negative in the Greek (ou mei). Nothing—no way, will anything hurt you.
This promise is for those who are walking, not those who are paralyzed by fear—otherwise how do you tread?
A traffic policeman raises his hand and is able to make a huge truck to stop in its tracks.
The truck has power, but the policeman has authority to stop the truck—the authority is from the government and nation backing him up.
You will trample on the coronavirus underfoot.

“Behold, I give you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing will in any way hurt you.” (Luke‬ ‭10:19‬ ‭WEB)

We need to trust the Lord for protection. We can take precautionary measures but we can’t ensure that others do the same.

Satan tempted Jesus to jump from the high point of the temple.
But Psalm 91 is about protection in your daily walk.
You will not dash you’ll foot on a stone if you jump off a building—you will smash your head on the rocks.
Be wise and don’t go seeking for danger.

The devil always hears people quoting Psalm 91 to him, so that’s why he quoted a verse from that psalm to Jesus.
Yet, the devil left out the words “to keep you in all your ways”.
The devil isn’t well-versed with God’s word.

If you give in to fear there’s no place that’s safe. Fear is the opposite of faith.
Your refuge is found in Jesus—not your house.

God deserves more thanks than we realize. He protects us from so many things that we don’t know about.
God is under-thanked and we are over-complaining.

The world doesn’t like to think about impeding death. They try to block it out with loud sounds, parties and distractions. But Jesus bore our sins at the cross—we don’t have to fear death.

Our trust is not in the law of probabilities. Our trust is in the Lord.

Joel 2:23-25 - Wheat and wine is a picture of the Holy Communion.
Last year in “The Year of the Latter Rain”, the emphasis was on Holy Communion.
This year we are going to see emphasis on the anointing oil.

““Be glad then, you children of Zion, and rejoice in Yahweh, your God; for he gives you the former rain in just measure, and he causes the rain to come down for you, the former rain and the latter rain, as before. The threshing floors will be full of wheat, and the vats will overflow with new wine and oil. I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the great locust, the grasshopper, and the caterpillar, my great army, which I sent among you.” (Joel‬ ‭2:23-25‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

This year in the Hebrew calendar is 5780. 80 in Hebrew is peh which is a picture of a mouth—in other words, your speaking.
80 in Hebrew is Shmonim which comes from the root word “shemen” which is the Hebrew word for oil.

God has storehouses with preparations to meet every need in your life.
He will restore to you all the years that the locust has eaten.

Nehemiah 10:38-39 - In the side chamber of the temple of Solomon:
First floor: storage of wheat, wine and oil.
Second floor: sleeping chambers for the priests.
Third floor: treasury filled with gold.
God told Pastor Prince that the first part of the year for us is the first floor.
All three things: wheat, wine and oil are pictures of the Lord Jesus Christ. Bread is made from crushing the wheat. Wine is made from crushing grapes. Oil is made from crushing olives.
Jesus was crushed because of our sins so that we can receive the Holy Spirit inside us today.
Olive oil was used for three purposes at that time; light in the temple, medicine, and for soap.
Jesus was first crushed in the Garden of Gethsemane. (Light)
Jesus was crushed at the cross so that by His stripes you are healed. (Medicine)
The Holy Spirit washed us with Jesus’ blood and made us clean. (Soap)
Doubt your doubts, starve your fears, feed your faith—keep hearing God’s word.

“The priest the son of Aaron shall be with the Levites, when the Levites take tithes. The Levites shall bring up the tithe of the tithes to the house of our God, to the rooms, into the treasure house. For the children of Israel and the children of Levi shall bring the wave offering of the grain, of the new wine, and of the oil, to the rooms, where the vessels of the sanctuary are, and the priests who minister, with the porters and the singers. We will not forsake the house of our God.” (Nehemiah‬ ‭10:38-39‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Psalm 105:15 - “Anointed ones” in the Hebrew is Mashiach—the same word as “Christ”.
God will not allow the enemy to touch His anointed ones.

““Don’t touch my anointed ones! Do my prophets no harm!”” (Psalms‬ ‭105:15‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Ezekiel 9:4 - The word “mark” in Hebrew is “Tav” which is a picture of the cross. Draw a cross on your forehead and your children’s forehead before leaving home.
In the story below, those who had the mark were spared but those without the mark were destroyed.

“Yahweh said to him, “Go through the middle of the city, through the middle of Jerusalem, and set a mark on the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry over all the abominations that are done within it.”” (Ezekiel‬ ‭9:4‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Mark 6:12-13 - The anointing oil represents the power of the Holy Spirit. Our trust in not in the oil, but in what it represents.
Must we use oil? Do things God’s way.

“They went out and preached that people should repent. They cast out many demons, and anointed many with oil who were sick, and healed them.” (Mark‬ ‭6:12-13‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

James 5:14-15 - This is another passage in the New Testament that teaches us to use the anointing oil together with prayer.

“Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.” (James‬ ‭5:14-15‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Revelation 7:2-3 - The seal on their foreheads is most probably a “Tav” (aka. a cross).

“I saw another angel ascend from the sunrise, having the seal of the living God. He cried with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was given to harm the earth and the sea, saying, “Don’t harm the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, until we have sealed the bondservants of our God on their foreheads!”” (Revelation‬ ‭7:2-3‬ ‭WEB)

Under the Law, the priests would mixed the blood together with the anointing oil.
When we apply the anointing oil, we are also applying the blood of Jesus.

Genesis 28:16-19 - The Hebrew word shemen is oil. It consists of three letters: shin, mem and nun.
The first mention of oil in the Bible is here.
The oil is found in the house of God (the gathering of God’s people).

“Jacob awakened out of his sleep, and he said, “Surely Yahweh is in this place, and I didn’t know it.” He was afraid, and said, “How dreadful is this place! This is none other than God’s house, and this is the gate of heaven.” Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put under his head, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil on its top. He called the name of that place Bethel, but the name of the city was Luz at the first.” (Genesis‬ ‭28:16-19‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Psalm 91:9-10 - You can find the Hebrew letters shin, mem and nun (which together make the word “shemen”) in this passage. When you anoint yourself, your family members and your possessions, you’re making the Lord your habitation.

“Because you have made Yahweh your refuge, and the Most High your dwelling place, no evil shall happen to you, neither shall any plague come near your dwelling.” (Psalms‬ ‭91:9-10‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Anyone can pray for ordinary oil to become holy anointing oil. You don’t need your pastor or leader to do it—you have the authority too.

The acid test for a true preacher of God’s word: does he glorify himself or does he glorify Jesus Christ?

At the end of the service, Pastor Prince led us to lift up our bottles of oil before the Lord and declared them to be consecrated as holy anointing oil.
