17 May 2020 - Does God Allow Christians to Go Through Troubles? - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Sermon Notes

Pastor Joseph Prince affirmed that God definitely doesn't tempt anyone to sin. Sometimes trouble comes because of mistakes of our own making, such as failing to pray for protection from troubles, but at other times God does allow troubles sent by the devil to 'child-train' you for your profit. After the trouble ends, there is an "after". The evil day is short, but the good days are long!

Jesus wants you to have a robust enjoyment of life—He wants you to have life and life more abundantly.
He wants you to enjoy long life and see good days.
When the Bible says talks about "the evil day" (Ephesians 6), it’s just singular.
The evil afflictions sent by the devil will be short, but good days will be long!

2 Corinthians 11:18 - All of God’s promises are yes and amen for us. If it’s not clearly stated that a promise is unique for a certain person/nation only (example: Israel), then it is for you too.

“But as God is faithful, our word toward you was not “Yes and no.” For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, by me, Silvanus, and Timothy, was not “Yes and no,” but in him is “Yes.” For however many are the promises of God, in him is the “Yes.” Therefore also through him is the “Amen”, to the glory of God through us.” (2 Corinthians‬ ‭1:18-20‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

The protection promises in Psalm 91 are yours to enjoy. Say “Amen” to them to release your faith in the promise.

Mary said “Amen” to the words of archangel Gabriel and she bore the Messiah.
When you say “Amen”, then the promise becomes real in your life.

Because of Christ, God says yes to any of the promises in His word.
Don’t listen to sermons that say that only some of these promises are for you, and that others are not for you.

When Jesus prayed the Lord’s Prayer, He used certain terms. Let your kingdom “come” and let your will be “done”.
We are not commanding God—we are lining up our spoken words with God’s will.

If you want to know what is God’s will, look at Heaven. Is there sickness or poverty there? No. Then you can pray for healing and provision—it is God’s will.
That’s what it means to pray for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven.

Is there persecution for a believer? Yes, but you can pray for God to deliver you from it.

Many believers are wondering if God wants you to pray for deliverance from a trouble that you’re experiencing.
If you believe right, you will live right.

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth. He cannot testify to a lie. He cannot testify if you’re still calling yourself a sinner.
You’re the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

The epistle to the Hebrews says that if a sacrifice has worked, there is no need for another reminder of sins.
It shows that the Old Covenant sacrifices are unable to purge the people of their consciousness of sins.
But Jesus already paid for all our sins with the once-for-all-time offering of Himself at the cross.

Partaking of the Lord’s Supper in an unworthy manner means that you are not discerning the Lord’s body—the body and blood of Christ.
The Corinthian church was treating the Lord’s Supper like a time to enjoy ‘happy hour’, getting themselves drunk with the wine, and eating the bread like eating a meal to fill their stomachs, instead of contemplating on the Lord’s death.

Repentance is not just about being sorrowful. Judas Iscariot was sorrowful and he hung himself. Repentance means turning to Jesus. Peter betrayed Jesus and he still turned to Jesus.

Pastor Joseph Prince affirmed that God definitely doesn't tempt anyone to sin. After the trouble ends, there is an "after". The evil day is short, but the good days are long!

When God allows you to go through trouble, you will profit through it. You'll be better off for having gone through it.

Sometimes troubles come from our own mistakes.
You can have bold faith in asking God to deliver you out of any trouble.

2 Corinthians 1:8-10 - Paul faced a trouble so great that he despaired even of life.
“Dying to self” is actually Hebraism which means that you put your trust entirely in God and not in yourself.
God delivered you, does delivers you, and will still continue to deliver you in the future. That’s the correct posture of a Christian when facing troubles.

“For we don’t desire to have you uninformed, brothers, concerning our affliction which happened to us in Asia, that we were weighed down exceedingly, beyond our power, so much that we despaired even of life. Yes, we ourselves have had the sentence of death within ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead, who delivered us out of so great a death, and does deliver; on whom we have set our hope that he will also still deliver us;” (2 Corinthians‬ ‭1:8-10‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Matthew 6:9-13 - You have to pray daily because grace is given daily.
Grace isn’t given in a lump sum every year or every month—it’s given daily.
Every day, ask God to give you your daily bread.
God loves to hear your voice—He enjoys it when you pray.
The prophet Jeremiah prophesied that Israel would be held captive in Babylon for seventy years.
At the end of the seventy years, Daniel didn’t just sit around and do nothing—he prayed for the promise to come to pass, that Israel would be brought back to the promised land.
The word “temptation” is peirasmos in the original Greek which can either mean the temptation to sin, or it can mean trouble.
A better translation would be “bring us not into trouble”.
God is not the source of trouble—sometimes it’s the devil, or sometimes it’s a mistake of your own making.
God is the one that you put in-charge of keeping you from trouble.
God wants you to pray this—“Lord, bring me not into troubles today.”
We don’t judge God’s word by our experiences, but we line up our experiences with God’s word.
Sometimes there are troubles that God allows us to go through—child training for our profit. Perhaps He wants to call some areas to your attention.
Troubles will not be protracted—ask God to deliver you from trouble, even if trouble has happened already.

“Pray like this: ‘Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done, as in heaven, so on earth. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors. Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen.’” (Matthew‬ ‭6:9-13‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Pastor Prince is teaching this message because he wants you to pray in faith without any reservation.
The world needs to see a God that’s good to His people, who provides for and loves His people.
The church sometimes wrongly portrays God as being angry with everyone and they only talk about judgment.
We are not in the dispensation of God’s judgment—there is a time of judgment in the future, but that time is not now.

We have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
Spiritual blessings manifest also as tangible blessings.
How did Pharaoh see that God was with Joseph? He saw the wisdom that came from Joseph. Spiritual blessings manifest as tangible blessings.

James 1:13-14 - God does not lead us into temptation to sin.

“Let no man say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God,” for God can’t be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed.” (James‬ ‭1:13-14‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

James 1:2 - The word “temptations” in the verse above is also peirasmos which also has the meaning of troubles and not the temptation to sin.

“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations,” (James‬ ‭1:2‬ ‭WEB‬)

Hebrews 11:34-35 - The word “deliverance” in the passage below is apolutrosis in Greek which actually refers to the redemptive work of Jesus Christ at the cross.
Some of the martyrs loved Jesus so much that they wanted to leave this earth and go to Heaven instead of surviving the torture.
Paul was an aged man when he died as a martyr. Some martyrs also died young. Some of them chose to go to Heaven instead of accepting deliverance to continue living on earth.

“quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, grew mighty in war, and caused foreign armies to flee. Women received their dead by resurrection. Others were tortured, not accepting their deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection.” (Hebrews‬ ‭11:34-35‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Ephesians 1:7 - The word “redemption” here is also apolutrosis.

“in whom we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,” (Ephesians‬ ‭1:7‬ ‭WEB‬)

Philippians 1:23-25 - The way the apostle Paul writes, it sounds like he has power over death. This power comes from God.
Paul had a revelation that he could choose how long he wanted to live.

“But I am in a dilemma between the two, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better. Yet, to remain in the flesh is more needful for your sake. Having this confidence, I know that I will remain, yes, and remain with you all, for your progress and joy in the faith,” (Philippians‬ ‭1:23-25‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

2 Timothy 4:6-7 - Paul was a single man, not a family man. He said that he completed his race on earth and he was ready to go to Heaven.
If you want to be martyred, at least finish your race—don’t just give up on life now.
There is still work to be done here on earth.
There is still a multitude of lost souls on earth waiting to hear the preaching of the Gospel.

“For I am already being offered, and the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight. I have finished the course. I have kept the faith.” (2 Timothy‬ ‭4:6-7‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Hebrews‬ ‭10:20‬ - The word “new” means freshly slain, as if Jesus just died for you just now.
“Living way” mean that the more you come to God, the more you live.

“by the way which he dedicated for us, a new and living way, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;” (Hebrews‬ ‭10:20‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Luke 22:31-34 - Obviously this was a trouble of Satan’s making.
Satan saw that he had an avenue to ‘sift’ Peter with. Peter was self-righteous and boasted in his love for the Lord.
Peter was allowed to enter this trouble, and he learnt to be humble—that it was all about the Lord’s love for him, and not his love for the Lord.

“The Lord said, “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan asked to have you, that he might sift you as wheat, but I prayed for you, that your faith wouldn’t fail. You, when once you have turned again, establish your brothers.” He said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death!” He said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will by no means crow today until you deny that you know me three times.”” (Luke‬ ‭22:31-34‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Genesis 22:1 - God tested Abraham. God didn’t want to really kill Abraham’s son.
He provided a ram to die in his place.
But at the cross, there was no substitute for Jesus.
God gave us His only Son, the Son whom He loved, so we know that He truly loves us.

“After these things, God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” He said, “Here I am.”” (Genesis‬ ‭22:1‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Is a trial in your life something that God allowed for a purpose? It may or may not be. Sometimes troubles come as a result of our own mistakes.

Acts 22:24-29 - At Lystra, Paul didn’t use his Roman citizenship to protect himself from being stoned.
But later in his ministry, he learnt to use his Roman citizenship to avoid trouble.
Paul realized that there are some sufferings that are not necessary.
As we saw in “the Lord’s Prayer”, God wants you to pray daily not to be brought into trials/trouble.

“the commanding officer commanded him to be brought into the barracks, ordering him to be examined by scourging, that he might know for what crime they shouted against him like that. When they had tied him up with thongs, Paul asked the centurion who stood by, “Is it lawful for you to scourge a man who is a Roman, and not found guilty?” When the centurion heard it, he went to the commanding officer and told him, “Watch what you are about to do, for this man is a Roman!” The commanding officer came and asked him, “Tell me, are you a Roman?” He said, “Yes.” The commanding officer answered, “I bought my citizenship for a great price.” Paul said, “But I was born a Roman.” Immediately those who were about to examine him departed from him, and the commanding officer also was afraid when he realized that he was a Roman, because he had bound him.” (Acts‬ ‭22:24-29‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

1 Peter 5:8-10 - If God allows you to go through a trial/trouble, there is always an “after”.
The time of suffering (evil day) is short, while the good days are plenteous.

“Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Withstand him steadfast in your faith, knowing that your brothers who are in the world are undergoing the same sufferings. But may the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.” (1 Peter‬ ‭5:8-10‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

We are going through a time of famine now because of this COVID-19 pandemic. There is financial famine and also a famine of no answers—there remains no medicine or vaccine for the COVID-19 virus yet.
But like how Pharaoh prospered because of the famine thanks to Joseph, we will also prosper through this famine because of our heavenly Joseph (Jesus Christ).
Don’t say that the worst is yet to come. Declare that the best is yet to come.

If you are a believer, you are a new creation in Christ. The born-again believer is a species that never before existed in the past.

Messiah's Miracles—The Power of Having Faith in Jesus Christ

$14.99 $9.99
I have prayed for others and seen instant healing miracles and received supernatural words of knowledge about them. I have also received miracles through prayer and others praying for me.

The Bible clearly reveals God’s will for every believer to walk in the miraculous. If you’re tired of a Christian walk that has no evidence of God’s manifested power, all it takes is to replace some wrong beliefs so that unbelief can be cast out. This is what I believe the Holy Spirit wants to do through this book.

Under the New Covenant of Grace, every blessing is received by faith. Faith comes by hearing about Jesus and this book is all about Jesus and designed to impart faith to the reader. During Jesus’ ministry on earth, He didn’t work any miracles by His own authority as God. He relied completely on faith in His Father and the power of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit purposefully chose 37 of Jesus’ miracles to be recorded in the four gospels. This is no coincidence. Each miracle reveals something powerful about our Lord Jesus. As you behold Jesus' love, grace and mercy expounded in these 37 miracles, I believe that you will see miracles erupt in your own life!

Testimonials from readers:

“One of my most trusted teachers has truly written a masterpiece. I can't put this book down.”
- Michael Clark, Highly Sought-After Preacher in USA

“Thank you, Milton for the anointed sharing of the 37 miracles of Jesus. Right from the 1st miracle, God dropped fresh revelations of His heart to me. It wasn't head knowledge that I experienced. I felt His personality, His loving heart's intents towards me. On top of that, there's also revelation of His healing power. Praise Jesus for transforming my heart and bringing me closer to Him through Milton's sharing.”

"Milton Goh my brother, your insight on Grace has set me free from 20 yrs of addiction. I was a 7 time felon but by the GRACE of God I am now an ordained minister. Here is some of my story: I was saved in Dec 2016 and started evangelizing in July of 2017 as soon as I was released. My ministry has led over 800 to Jesus. I go to jails, rehabs, homeless shelters plus numerous churches! Your notes and sermons allowed me to find rest in Jesus. I was getting tired trying to perform what I thought God needed from me. You have made me realize it's 100% the CROSS and now I go constantly for Jesus but never get tired. Thanks for your wisdom and love for Jesus. May God bless you and your family!"

Sandcastles Don't Last Forever

$14.99 $9.99

This is the eBook version.

If you prefer to get the Paperback version (physical copy), you can get it on Amazon here for US$15.

About the Book:

One day when I was singing praises to God, an image floated up in my spirit: a big and beautiful sandcastle being washed away by the waves from the sea. God was teaching me the futility of holding tightly onto worldly possessions because like the sandcastle, they won't last, and one day will cease to exist.

He taught me from His word to focus on Him and by doing so, I would reap great eternal rewards before Jesus' throne at the start of the Millennium. These rewards will last forever and can't be destroyed or stolen.

It is my prayer that the revelations in this book will help you to live with a focus on the things above where God is, fulfill your God-given calling in life, be happier and to accumulate more eternal rewards to your account.

In this Book, you will learn about:

- Heavenly investment advice and the futility of worldly pursuits from a trillionaire in the Bible

- Why God has to reward us in order to be righteous

- When and how God will destroy the current earth and sky to make way for new ones

- The types of fireproof works that earn eternal rewards at the end of time

- The abundant rewards of doing good works while abiding by the non-disclosure agreement between God and you

- The difference between the temporary places of torment: Sheol and Abaddon

- Who is the Antichrist and his name revealed in the Bible

- What is the Mark of the Beast and why it disqualifies its recipients from receiving salvation

- The different judgments at the throne of Jesus Christ and what it means for you as a believer

- How to fulfill your calling and maximize your gifts to receive the best eternal rewards

"This book is absolutely breathtaking. We don't work to be saved but were created to do good works. I am so energized and excited to know God values our works and we will be rewarded. This is all Glory to Jesus... I cant wait to throw my crowns at his feet and thank him for saving my life!" - Evangelist Michael Clark from USA

"Dear Milton Goh, I truly thank our Abba, Father for the revelations in this book. It is so amazing how I begin to discover important verses in the Bible that I have never read. That instead of following riches, with sleepless nights, and actually shortening our lives, we are just to 'Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ', and 'Love one another'. How beautiful to find out that actually in the Bible there is both 'Earthly or Worldly Investment Wisdom' and 'Eternal Investment Wisdom' according to the revelations here from Ecclesiastes 5:14-17 WEB)!; “It seems like Solomon was not only wise at earning material riches but also at earning eternal riches.” All the glory to our Lord Jesus Christ! God bless you Milton Goh for such a wonderful book!" - Nitta Nierra from Belgium
