14 June 2020 - Jesus is your Strength - New Creation Church Sermon Notes - Pastor Lawrence Lim Sermon Notes

When you feel strengthless, receive Jesus as your strength. You will come out of the deep valley with great restoration. Not everything that happens is good, but all things will work together for your good!

Luke 1:17 - Elizabeth and Zacharias was an elderly couple and they were childless.

“But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and they both were well advanced in years.” (Luke‬ ‭1:7‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Luke 1:11-16 - The Lord hears your prayer. Elizabeth and Zacharias had a child in their old age. Their son was named “John” which means “God is grace”.
You’re never too old to be used by God.
Moses was 80 years old when he was called by God to deliver the children of Israel out of Egypt.
Caleb was 85 when he conquered the mountain and slayed giants.
Your age will increase but your youth can be renewed when your trust is in the Lord. It’s a supernatural transformation.
You will run and not be weary. You will mount up on wings like eagles.

“An angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing on the right side of the altar of incense. Zacharias was troubled when he saw him, and fear fell upon him. But the angel said to him, “Don’t be afraid, Zacharias, because your request has been heard, and your wife, Elizabeth, will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. You will have joy and gladness; and many will rejoice at his birth. For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and he will drink no wine nor strong drink. He will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb. He will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord, their God.” (Luke‬ ‭1:11-16‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Isaiah 46:4 - God will love you throughout all your days. His love for you never decreases.

“Even to old age I am he, and even to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear. Yes, I will carry, and will deliver.” (Isaiah‬ ‭46:4‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Acts 2:17 - Both the young and old will be mightily used by God in these last days for end-time revivals.

“‘It will be in the last days, says God, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions. Your old men will dream dreams.” (Acts‬ ‭2:17‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Jesus is your strength. When you have Him, you are strong in Him!

​1 Samuel 30:1-6 - David was already at a low point in his life. He was fleeing from King Saul, had to feign madness before King Abimelech of Gath, and now his own band of brothers were talking about stoning him.
David had lost everything. When you have lost everything and all your strength, strengthen yourself in the Lord.

“When David and his men had come to Ziklag on the third day, the Amalekites had made a raid on the South, and on Ziklag, and had struck Ziklag, and burned it with fire, and had taken captive the women and all who were in it, both small and great. They didn’t kill any, but carried them off, and went their way. When David and his men came to the city, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, their sons, and their daughters were taken captive. Then David and the people who were with him lifted up their voice and wept until they had no more power to weep. David’s two wives were taken captive, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite. David was greatly distressed; for the people spoke of stoning him, because the souls of all the people were grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters; but David strengthened himself in Yahweh his God.” (1 Samuel‬ ‭30:1-6‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Psalm 34:1-9 - When David pretended to be mad, he wrote this psalm.
We don’t only praise God in good times. We praise Him at all times because He is always good. He will turn every situation around for our good.
The COVID-19 pandemic is not sent by God. The devil is the one who steals, kills and destroys, whereas Jesus came to give us life and life more abundantly.
Your Father God’s ears are attentive to your prayers. He will deliver you out of your troubles.
As a believer, not everything that happens to you will be good, but all things will work together for your good because you love God and are called according to His purpose.

“I will bless Yahweh at all times. His praise will always be in my mouth. My soul shall boast in Yahweh. The humble shall hear of it, and be glad. Oh magnify Yahweh with me. Let us exalt his name together. I sought Yahweh, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears. They looked to him, and were radiant. Their faces shall never be covered with shame. This poor man cried, and Yahweh heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. Yahweh’s angel encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them. Oh taste and see that Yahweh is good. Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him. Oh fear Yahweh, you his saints, for there is no lack with those who fear him.” (Psalms‬ ‭34:1-9‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

1 Samuel 30:17-20 - David took time to seek the Lord and the Lord helped him to recover everything that was stolen by the Amalekites.
On top of that he also had additional plunder.
When God restores, it is always greater in quality and/or quantity.
Take time to seek the Lord even if the answer seems obvious. He will lead you to receive the provision for all your needs.

“David struck them from the twilight even to the evening of the next day. Not a man of them escaped from there, except four hundred young men, who rode on camels and fled. David recovered all that the Amalekites had taken; and David rescued his two wives. There was nothing lacking to them, neither small nor great, neither sons nor daughters, neither plunder, nor anything that they had taken to them. David brought back all. David took all the flocks and the herds, which they drove before those other livestock, and said, “This is David’s plunder.”” (1 Samuel‬ ‭30:17-20‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 - Our Father God is merciful and He comforts us. He will comfort you in all your afflictions.
That’s why we can have boldness in approaching His throne of Grace.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort; who comforts us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” (2 Corinthians‬ ‭1:3-4‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

1 Samuel 15:29 - Strength is a person—when you have Jesus, you have strength.

“Also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent; for he is not a man, that he should repent.”” (1 Samuel‬ ‭15:29‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Hebrews 12:2-3 - When you’re weary or discouraged, consider Jesus Christ and how He gave His life for us at the cross.

“looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him who has endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, that you don’t grow weary, fainting in your souls.” (Hebrews‬ ‭12:2-3‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

2 Corinthians 5:19 - The COVID-19 pandemic is not God’s judgment against the world. In this dispensation He is not counting the world’s trespasses (sins) against them. He is reconciling the world to Himself through the preaching of the Gospel.

“namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not reckoning to them their trespasses, and having committed to us the word of reconciliation.” (2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:19‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Psalm 22:14-15 - Jesus became strengthless at the cross because He took our place so we would never need to be weak again.
When you have grace, though you’re weak, you will be strong.

“I am poured out like water. All my bones are out of joint. My heart is like wax; it is melted within me. My strength is dried up like a potsherd. My tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth. You have brought me into the dust of death.” (Psalms‬ ‭22:14-15‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Inundate yourself with God’s word and let hope arise. Expect great things from God.
David said he has been young and he has been old, but he has never seen the righteous beg for bread. God will provide for you.
