30 August 2020 - Bear Fruit to God Under Grace - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Sermon Notes

Pastor Joseph Prince taught that when a person tries to keep the Law, the sinful passions in the flesh are aroused, causing that person to sin. The only way to bear fruit to God is through Grace who is the person of Jesus Christ.

The “now word” that God is speaking is the rhema word. The Scriptures in general is the logos word—the written word.

When you are well-read in the logos word, the Holy Spirit can speak to you from within through the rhema word.

Enjoy God’s word and feed on it. Spend time in God’s word until your heart leaps with joy.

2 Corinthians 3:6-7 - The Ten Commandments were the only part of the Law engraved on stones.
Peter called Paul’s letters “Scripture”.
The Law is holy but it cannot make man holy.
The Law demands everything but gives nothing. Grace demands nothing but gives everything.
When the Law was given, three thousand people died at the foot of Mount Sinai.
When God gave the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost, three thousand people were saved and received eternal life.
The Law kills whereas Grace gives life.
The Greek word for life is “Zoe”. It is quality life.
When someone receives God’s word, God “quickens” that person with His power.
Grace is like a good conductor of blessings whereas the Law is like an insulator of God’s blessings.
The descending love is always greater than the ascending love—God’s love is always greater than your love for Him.

“who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away,” (II Corinthians‬ ‭3:6-7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

No one has ever loved God with all his mind, soul and strength. Only one man did that: Jesus.
The Father opened the heavens to Jesus and said, “You are my beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased.” He only did that to Jesus and no one else.

Always see God supplying you the Grace for whatever you’re doing. That is how to live the life of Grace practically.

Jesus said to Martha, “Martha, Martha, you are worried about many things.” The root word of the one translated as worried is “Merimnao” in Greek which means “to be distracted”.
Don’t be distracted by worries, stress and fears. Focus on Jesus and receive His grace.
Attack your problems one day at a day. Trust that God’s supply of Grace will be there when you come to that point in time.
Allow yourself to be present in every situation.

To live under Grace is to believe that God is always supplying what you need.

Galatians 3:1-2 - The word “bewitched” is a strong word which literally refers to witchcraft.
The Holy Spirit is given because Jesus was crucified, raised and glorified—not because you are extra holy by your works.
In the Old Testament, some saints had the Holy Spirit on them, but not in them.
He would perform His purpose and then leave them.
Today, we have the Holy Spirit permanently in us.

“Foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you not to obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was openly portrayed among you as crucified? I just want to learn this from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by hearing of faith?” (Galatians‬ ‭3:1-2‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

When we try to keep the Law, our sinful passions are aroused and we bear fruit to death

When we depend on our own works to obtain righteousness, it leads only to despair and depression. Jesus has become our righteousness.
Everything that can make us right with God has already been done by Jesus at the cross.
Salvation is only by the shed blood of Jesus Christ.

The devil is “HaSatan” in Hebrew which means “the accuser”.
He accuses you using all your bad points and never brings up your good points.

God didn’t raise Jesus from the dead because He (Jesus( was the Son of God, and neither was it because God felt like it.
God raised Jesus from the dead because all the sins of the world have been fully paid.
It is a testimony that the work of atoning for sins is finished.

When Jesus died at the cross, all your sins were “future sins”. He paid for all of them.
The work of the cross is outside time, just as Jesus (who is God) is outside time.

Romans 3:20 - By the Law is the knowledge of sin, not of righteousness.

“Because by the works of the law, no flesh will be justified in his sight. For through the law comes the knowledge of sin.” (Romans‬ ‭3:20‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 7:1-5 - Depression, sickness, fruitlessness, are all forms of Death.
The Jewish people consider themselves married to the Law.
They say that at Mount Sinai when the Law was given, with the canopy of clouds, it was like a chuppah (wedding tent).
A woman cannot be with another man if she is married to a man—that would be adultery.
Jesus even provided the death that we need to be separated from the Law.
We are now married to the resurrected Jesus so that we can bear fruit to God.
The more we try to keep the Law, the more our sinful passions are aroused.
Outright solicitation to sin doesn’t work on Christians who are well-established in Grace.
The devil subtly tries to bring them back under the Law so that their sinful passions will be aroused.
When you’re committing adultery with the Law, you will bear fruit to death.

“Or don’t you know, brothers (for I speak to men who know the law), that the law has dominion over a man for as long as he lives? For the woman that has a husband is bound by law to the husband while he lives, but if the husband dies, she is discharged from the law of the husband. So then if, while the husband lives, she is joined to another man, she would be called an adulteress. But if the husband dies, she is free from the law, so that she is no adulteress, though she is joined to another man. Therefore, my brothers, you also were made dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you would be joined to another, to him who was raised from the dead, that we might produce fruit to God. For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were through the law, worked in our members to bring out fruit to death.” (Romans‬ ‭7:1-5‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Galatians 3:10 - If you put yourself under the Law and don’t keep it perfectly, you are under the curse of the Law.

“For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse. For it is written, “Cursed is everyone who doesn’t continue in all things that are written in the book of the law, to do them.”” (Galatians‬ ‭3:10‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

1 Corinthians 15:56 - The strength of sin is the Law.

“The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.” (1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:56‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Hebrews 10:2-3 - We are cleansed and should have no more consciousness of sins.

“Or else wouldn’t they have ceased to be offered, because the worshipers, having been once cleansed, would have had no more consciousness of sins? But in those sacrifices there is a yearly reminder of sins.” (Hebrews‬ ‭10:2-3‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Only a kinsman redeemer could redeem Ruth.
A kinsman redeemer must be a relative, wealthy and willing.
That’s the reason why Jesus came as a Man, so that He could identify with us.
Jesus is fully Man and fully God.
Jesus is sinless, thus wealthy in the truest sense of the word.

Ruth was originally married to Mahalon. The root word of the name “Mahalon” means “sickness”.
They had no child when they were married.
But when Ruth married Boaz, she bore a child called Obed which means “service”.
You don’t have to worry about service to God. You will bear service as a fruit to God.

The Law demands that you fly but gives you no wings. Grace (Jesus) takes you in His arms and raises you together with Him.

The Law only demands from morally and spiritually-bankrupt man. If you look to yourself, you’ll find no good thing in your flesh.
Look unto Jesus and faith will arise in your heart. You will be transformed from glory to glory, into the same image of Christ.

Philippians 2:13 - Whatever Jesus commands, He is in us to work in, for and through us.
God will never tell you to do something you have no desire to do.
When God leads you to do something, it’s like He puts a freshly-cooked fried chicken in front of you and commands you to eat it.
It’s easy to perform His commands when you rely on the power of the Holy Spirit.

“For it is God who works in you both to will and to work, for his good pleasure.” (Philippians‬ ‭2:13‬ ‭WEB‬‬)
