22 November 2020 - What “Falling From Grace” Really Means - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Sermon Notes

Pastor Joseph Prince taught us what it means to "fall from Grace". It is not falling into sin as many people think. When you fall from Grace, Christ becomes of no effect to you, and you cannot even receive a trickle of God's favor. Understanding this truth will set you free to bear much good fruit in your life!

3 John 1:2 - This is God’s will for us.

“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers.” (3 John‬ ‭1:2‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Galatians 4:30-5:1 - The old system of the Law has been cast out, so we can stand fully in Grace.
We can only live in a truly holy way when we live by Grace.

“However what does the Scripture say? “Throw out the servant and her son, for the son of the servant will not inherit with the son of the free woman.” So then, brothers, we are not children of a servant, but of the free woman. Stand firm therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and don’t be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.” (Galatians‬ ‭5:1‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Galatians 5:4 - Christ becomes of no effect to you when you try to be justified by the Law.
It is not people who sin that fall from Grace.
It is those who have been saved by Grace and then try to be justified by the Law.
These people think they have to go through the Law first in order to reach Christ.
The multitudes touched Jesus and received healing. They were sinning and could still be healed.
It is not sin that stops you from receiving God’s power—it is those who try to become righteous through the Law that could not receive from Jesus.
The word “alienated” is the same word as is translated as “destroy” in Hebrews 2:14.
The devil’s power to inflict death has been totally removed from him.
When you are alienated from Christ, you cannot receive even a trickle of God’s power in your life, even though it is always flowing towards you.
GRACE: God’s Riches at Christ’s Expense.
You cannot take credit for any part of your salvation. Your role is to be a beneficiary and depository of God’s blessings.
Long before someone falls into sin, he has fallen into Grace.
Before the Law was given, the children of Israel did not build a golden calf and there was no temptation to do so.
But once the Law was given at Mount Sinai, they built a golden calf.

“You are alienated from Christ, you who desire to be justified by the law. You have fallen away from grace.” (Galatians‬ ‭5:4‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Luke 11:46 - Your sins are not what is blocking your healing, provision, or whatever breakthrough you need.
Man-made religion teaches that if there is some sin in your life, you cannot receive from God.

“He said, “Woe to you lawyers also! For you load men with burdens that are difficult to carry, and you yourselves won’t even lift one finger to help carry those burdens.” (Luke‬ ‭11:46‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Isaiah 26:3 - When Christ is effective for you, you receive His shalom—perfect peace.

“You will keep whoever’s mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in you.” (Isaiah‬ ‭26:3‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

John 15:5 - Branches do not struggle to bear fruit. When the branch is not constricted, the sap flows freely, producing the fruitfulness to bear fruit.
It is your struggling that prevents you from receiving God’s power.
When you rest in Christ, God’s power flows freely through you.

“I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” (John‬ ‭15:5‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

2 Peter 3:18 - Grace is your fertile soil to grow in.

“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.” (2 Peter‬ ‭3:18‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Pastor Joseph Prince taught us what it means to "fall from Grace". It is a serious issue because it can even be deadly to you. Let this revelation restore life to you!

Trying to become justified through the Law causes you to fall from Grace

Exodus 19:6-8 - The children of Israel boasted in their own ability to keep God’s commandments, without even hearing what those commandments would be.
After that, God’s tone changed. He told them that no one should come near Mount Sinai, not even an animal, if not it shall be speared to death.
Before the Law was given, God was so near to the children of Israel, based on His Grace.

“and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.” Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and set before them all these words which Yahweh commanded him. All the people answered together, and said, “All that Yahweh has spoken we will do.” Moses reported the words of the people to Yahweh.” (Exodus‬ ‭19:6-8‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

1 Timothy 1:9 - The Law is for the unrighteous, not for the children of God.
Once you presume on your own strength to keep the Law, you activate the flesh and the sinful works of the flesh.
When you live by faith, you activate the Holy Spirit and He will bear fruit in your life.
Works are the results of effort, while fruits are the results of life.

“as knowing this, that law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,” (1 Timothy‬ ‭1:9‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Exodus 20:3-4 - Once the Law was given, the children of Israel quickly broke the first two commandments of the Ten Commandments.

““You shall have no other gods before me. “You shall not make for yourselves an idol, nor any image of anything that is in the heavens above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:” (Exodus‬ ‭20:3-4‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

1 Corinthians 1:30 - Christ is our wisdom, righteousness, sanctification and redemption.
When you are fallen from grace, you are cut off from all these.

“Because of him, you are in Christ Jesus, who was made to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption:” (1 Corinthians‬ ‭1:30‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Philippians 3:3 - People usually do not start off wanting to commit adultery. It is because they presume on their own strength to resist sin.

“For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh;” (Philippians‬ ‭3:3‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Law is man working, while Grace is God working and supplying.

Hebrews 12:14-16 - Pursue peace with all men, but holiness/sanctification is between you and God.
To fall short of the grace of God means to try and be justified through the Law.
When you try to keep the Law, roots of bitterness spring up and cause many to be defiled.
Based on the following passage, the opposite of peace with all people is to have a root of bitterness.
The opposite of holiness is to be sexually immoral and profane.
These problems happen when people try to be justified through the Law.

“Follow after peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no man will see the Lord, looking carefully lest there be any man who falls short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and many be defiled by it; lest there be any sexually immoral person, or profane person, like Esau, who sold his birthright for one meal.” (Hebrews‬ ‭12:14-16‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

The Pharisees were bitter people. They would rather save their own donkeys that fell in the pit and see people in bondage.

To God, the worst sin is self-righteousness. In the first temptation, the serpent tried to make Eve think that eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil would make her like God.
But she was already like God, made in His image.
We should not try to become what we already are.

Luke 2:52 - Grace is the unmerited favor of God. When you fall from Grace, you also fall out of favor with men.
When you have the favor of God upon you, it will antagonize those who try to live by the Law.
Rejoice when you are persecuted by such people because it means that God’s Grace is upon you.

“And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.” (Luke‬ ‭2:52‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

2 Corinthians 3:6-9 - The Law is the ministry of death and condemnation. It is deadly to try and keep the Law.

“who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away, how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious? For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory.” (II Corinthians‬ ‭3:6-9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

The Holy of Holies in the temple was the holiest spot in the world back in the days of the dispensation of the Law.
This spot is where the blood of sacrificial animals is sprinkled on the mercy seat. The blood represents the precious blood of Jesus.
The throne of judgment has become the throne of Grace for a believer.
Grace is the holiest holiness there is.
Only Grace can bring a holy God and sinful men together.

Jesus exudes a moral excellence. Only Grace can produce the fruits of the Spirit in your life.

1 Samuel 6:19-20 - The people of Beth Shemesh looked into the Ark of the Covenant and fifty thousand and seventy men were slain by God.
They pushed away the mercy seat to look in. Do not look at the Law—look at Grace.
The three elements in the ark are the two tablets of the Ten Commandments, Aaron’s rod that budded, and the golden pot of Manna.
These items came about because of man’s rebellion against God.

“He struck of the men of Beth Shemesh, because they had looked into Yahweh’s ark, he struck fifty thousand seventy of the men. Then the people mourned, because Yahweh had struck the people with a great slaughter. The men of Beth Shemesh said, “Who is able to stand before Yahweh, this holy God? To whom shall he go up from us?”” (1 Samuel‬ ‭6:19-20‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Where is your trust? Health comes from the Lord.
By all means, eat well and exercise, but you cannot put your trust in creation that has fallen. Put your trust in redemption.
When you try to keep the natural, you will fall from the supernatural which is higher ground.

Healing is a Grace. How do you fall from healing grace? When your trust is in natural things and not in the Lord.

How do you fall out of favor with men? By trying to please people.
Those who are likable are those who are not even trying to be liked.

Galatians 1:9-10 - If you preach the true Gospel of Grace, it will not please men.
Preaching mixture of Law and Grace please men more because it appeals to the flesh.
If you preach the true Gospel, expect to be persecuted for it.

“As we have said before, so I now say again: if any man preaches to you any “good news” other than that which you received, let him be cursed. For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? For if I were still pleasing men, I wouldn’t be a servant of Christ.” (Galatians‬ ‭1:9-10‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

1 Kings 1:5-6 - Parents, don’t try hard to please your children. You will fall out of favor with them.
David had not displeased Adonijah at any time. He did not correct Adonijah when it was necessary.
By trying so hard to please him, what happened? Adonijah rebelled and ended up dying.

“Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, “I will be king.” Then he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him. His father had not displeased him at any time in saying, “Why have you done so?” and he was also a very handsome man; and he was born after Absalom.” (1 Kings‬ ‭1:5-6‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Ephesians 6:4 - Fathers, when you teach your children, teach them their identity in Christ.
When they make mistakes, tell them, “You are a Jesus boy/girl. You are better than this.” Affirm your sons and daughters.
To love someone does not mean pandering to all their whims. When correction is needed, then do it.

“You fathers, don’t provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” (Ephesians‬ ‭6:4‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

If your wife asks you not to go to church, stand up to her and tell her that it is wrong.
Loving your wife does not mean being afraid of her and trying to please her even when she is in the wrong.
She will respect you more as a man if you have a strong conviction on what is right and wrong (based on God's word).

Lung condition that was scanned showing dots in the X-ray.
A lady who stretched to get something and a muscle was pulled under the armpit.
Headaches just broke.
A bad tooth at the back near the wisdom tooth.
Gallstones.
Back.
Thyroid condition of someone whose heart palpitations just slowed down to a relaxed state.
Creative miracles of body parts that have worn out.
Renewal of youth like the eagles.

Homework: Ask the Lord to reveal areas in your life where you have fallen from Grace.
