1 November 2020 - Heirs of the World Through Faith - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Sermon Notes

Pastor Joseph Prince taught us how to walk in the blessings of being heirs of the world through faith, apart from the works of the Law. It is time to live with a spirit of sonship instead of a fearful, servile mentality of a slave!

Joshua 14:11-14 - Caleb had faith in God’s promises. Even when he was eighty five years old, he was as strong as he was four decades ago.

“As yet I am as strong today as I was in the day that Moses sent me. As my strength was then, even so is my strength now for war, to go out and to come in. Now therefore give me this hill country, of which Yahweh spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Anakim were there, and great and fortified cities. It may be that Yahweh will be with me, and I shall drive them out, as Yahweh said.”” (Joshua‬ ‭14:11-12‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Yesterday was Reformation Day—a celebration of the reintroduction of the Gospel of Grace. Martin Luther used the words “the righteous by faith will live”. He was referring to justification by faith.

Galatians 3:22-26 - The dispensation of the Law is not permanent. It lasted until Jesus came.
Now that Jesus has come, we are justified by faith.
The rich Greek and Roman families in the past would have tutors who train the sons of the house.
Now that Christ has come, there is no need for the Law to be our tutor anymore.

“But the Scriptures imprisoned all things under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. But before faith came, we were kept in custody under the law, confined for the faith which should afterwards be revealed. So that the law has become our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. For you are all children of God, through faith in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians‬ ‭3:22-26‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 4:13-15 - The word “world” is “cosmos” in Greek which means all the privileges and endowments of creation.
Adam sinned and gave his rulership to Satan, making Satan the “god” of this world.
We became the heir of the world through the righteousness of faith because we are in Christ—the promise was given to Abraham and his “offspring” who is Christ.
You can't walk in your position as the “heir of the world” when you are sick and broke.
Provision and health are lesser blessings included in the position of "heir of the world".
Many believers are trying to gain blessings through the Law and that is why they do not see God’s blessings.
Pastor Prince is not antinomian (against the Law). He is for the Law for the reason that the Law was given.

“For the promise to Abraham and to his offspring that he should be heir of the world wasn’t through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. For if those who are of the law are heirs, faith is made void, and the promise is made of no effect. For the law produces wrath, for where there is no law, neither is there disobedience.” (Romans‬ ‭4:13-15‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Genesis 22:12 - Satan cannot challenge God’s decision to bless Abraham because there is a covenant relationship between God and Abraham.

“He said, “Don’t lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him. For now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.”” (Genesis‬ ‭22:12‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 7:4-8 - Trying to keep the Law causes your flesh to stir up sinful passions.
Holiness cannot come from trying to keep the Law.
When you try to keep the Law, you will bear fruit to death. When you are led by the Spirit, you will bear fruit to God.
We have died with Christ and we are also dead to the Law.
Now we are risen with Christ and seated with Him in Heaven.

“Therefore, my brothers, you also were made dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you would be joined to another, to him who was raised from the dead, that we might produce fruit to God. For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were through the law, worked in our members to bring out fruit to death. But now we have been discharged from the law, having died to that in which we were held; so that we serve in newness of the spirit, and not in oldness of the letter. What shall we say then? Is the law sin? May it never be! However, I wouldn’t have known sin, except through the law. For I wouldn’t have known coveting, unless the law had said, “You shall not covet.” But sin, finding occasion through the commandment, produced in me all kinds of coveting. For apart from the law, sin is dead.” (Romans‬ ‭7:4-8‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Teach your children by their identity in Christ, not by giving the Ten Commandments. “You are a Jesus boy. A Jesus boy does not bully or hit people.”

Live with a spirit of sonship, knowing that God is your Abba who loves you

Galatians 3:29-4:2 - If you are a born-again believer, you are Abraham’s offspring. The natural Jews who do not believe in Jesus are not Abraham’s offspring.
When Israel was still under the Law, they were like little children who needed the Law to teach them the do’s and don’ts.
The “day appointed by the father” reminds us of Bar Mitzvah ceremonies held for Jewish boys who are reaching the age of manhood.
When you are born-again through faith in Jesus, you are no longer a child, but a full-grown man in Christ.

“If you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring and heirs according to promise. “But I say that so long as the heir is a child, he is no different from a bondservant, though he is lord of all; but is under guardians and stewards until the day appointed by the father.” (Galatians 3:29-‬4:1-2‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Galatians‬ ‭4:3‬ - The Law is like kindergarten. The “elemental principles” is like the “ABC’s”—very basic knowledge.
Grace is actually true maturity—no longer a child, but a fully grown son.
“Abba” is a very endearing, close term—something like “daddy”. We have the spirit of sonship. We are not slaves, but sons.
Pray knowing that you are so close to God. He is not just a God far away, but a Father so close to you.

“So we also, when we were children, were held in bondage under the elemental principles of the world. But when the fullness of the time came, God sent out his Son, born to a woman, born under the law, that he might redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of children. And because you are children, God sent out the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, “Abba, Father!” So you are no longer a bondservant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.” (Galatians‬ ‭4:3-7‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 8:15 - Don’t fall back into a fearful, servile spirit. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth. He cannot bear witness to a lie.
When you pray as if you are still a slave, He cannot bear witness to that.
No wonder prayers offered in a servile spirit are not answered.

“For you didn’t receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”” (Romans‬ ‭8:15‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

John 17:26 - The name that Jesus came to reveal is “Abba, Father”.
It is good to learn the names of God, but the name “Father” is something that Jesus came to reveal.
“Father” is the greatest and highest revelation of God.

“I made known to them your name, and will make it known; that the love with which you loved me may be in them, and I in them.”” (John‬ ‭17:26‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

1 Corinthians 13:11 - Children tend to speak carelessly. They don’t see far-reaching consequences of their behavior.

“When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I felt as a child, I thought as a child. Now that I have become a man, I have put away childish things.” (1 Corinthians‬ ‭13:11‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Luke 13:15-16 - The infirm woman had faith in Jesus and became a daughter of Abraham.
Because she was a daughter of Abraham, Jesus said that she ought to be freed from the Satanic bondage upon her.

“Therefore the Lord answered him, “You hypocrites! Doesn’t each one of you free his ox or his donkey from the stall on the Sabbath, and lead him away to water? Ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan had bound eighteen long years, be freed from this bondage on the Sabbath day?”” (Luke‬ ‭13:15-16‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Luke 19:9 - Zacchaeus became a son of Abraham when he placed his faith in Jesus as the Messiah.
In the previous chapter, Jesus spoke to the rich young ruler. The Holy Spirit put these two stories side by side to show the difference between Law and Grace.
When Zacchaeus received grace from Jesus, he gladly opened his wallet and was willing to restore more money than he had un-righteously acquired from others.
When the rich young ruler received the Law from Jesus, he could not even give one shekel.
The Law only reveals how spiritually and morally bankrupt we are in the flesh, apart from Christ.

“Jesus said to him, “Today, salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham.” (Luke‬ ‭19:9‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Revelation 5:8-12 - Jesus did not redeem angels with His blood. Only mankind are redeemed through the shedding of Jesus’ blood at the cross.
The angels cannot address God as “You”. They always address Him in the third person as “God” and they call Jesus “the Lamb”.
There is perfect order in the royal house of God. The closest to God are the redeemed.
We praise God in the second person, while the angels only praise God in the third person.

“Now when he had taken the book, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. They sang a new song, saying, “You are worthy to take the book, and to open its seals: for you were killed, and bought us for God with your blood, out of every tribe, language, people, and nation, and made us kings and priests to our God, and we will reign on the earth.” I saw, and I heard something like a voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousands of ten thousands, and thousands of thousands; saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the Lamb who has been killed to receive the power, wealth, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and blessing!”” (Revelation‬ ‭5:8-12‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Psalm 22:1 - This is Jesus at the cross.

“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from helping me, and from the words of my groaning?” (Psalms‬ ‭22:1‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Psalm 23:1 - This is what we enjoy now because of Jesus’ finished work at the cross.

“Yahweh is my shepherd: I shall lack nothing.” (Psalms‬ ‭23:1‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Psalm 24:7 - This is about the second coming of Christ.

“Lift up your heads, you gates! Be lifted up, you everlasting doors, and the King of glory will come in.” (Psalms‬ ‭24:7‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Psalm 23:1-5 - In Israel, a shepherd leads his sheep in a circuitous route up the mountain so they don’t even feel like they are ascending.
The Holy Spirit also leads us this way in “the paths of righteousness”, taking us higher even when we do not feel it.
In good times, we can afford to say “He”, but in tough seasons, we call God “You”.
The shadow of death is just the appearance of death because Jesus conquered death for us at the cross.
When it gets dark and the sheep are not back in their fold yet, the shepherd would go into the center of the flock and walk with them from there.
When you go through a dark period, know that Jesus is closer than you can imagine.
The rod and staff are for guiding, rescuing and protecting the flock of sheep. Not for hitting the sheep.
The rod was for fending off wolves.
The words in the passage below, “in the presence of”, actually means “against”. The Lord prepares a table against (in Hebrew: negat) your enemies.
This table is the Holy Communion. As you partake of it, God fights against your enemies.

“Yahweh is my shepherd: I shall lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil. My cup runs over.” (Psalms‬ ‭23:1-5‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

I read your sermon on 1 November 2020 - Heirs of the World Through Faith.
Please explain few verses in Bible which is totally opposite to your explanation in the noted sermon.

James 2:14, 17, 20,24.
Romans 3:31.
Did Paul, Peter or any earlier disciples ever forbidden to obey God's commandments?
Lev 18:4 Did God say wrong statement in Bible?????
Rev 14:12, 22:14,
John 14:15, 23-24 John 15:10
Matthew 5:17 how do you or many preachers try to preach different doctrine than the Bible teachings ( don't be offended but discuss with me ).
Do you have understanding that after salvation our present, future sins are also forgiven and we don't need to obey God's commandments?

please share any Bible verse or verses where it's forbidden us not to obey God's commandments, I'm not pastor but I can share with you more than 120 verses where clearly written to obey God's commandments in both OT and in NT
