18 October 2020 - Be Established in the Gift of Righteousness - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Sermon Notes

Pastor Joseph Prince taught us how to be blessed people who are established in the gift of righteousness which Jesus purchased through His obedience at the cross. We are righteous not by our works of obedience, but by His obedience.

Proverbs 4:18 - Your path is getting brighter and brighter, even though the world is getting darker and darker.

“But the path of the righteous is like the dawning light, that shines more and more until the perfect day.” (Proverbs‬ ‭4:18‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

As we face the future, we have to have the helmet of salvation on to guard our minds.

Isaiah 54:13-14 - When you are established in righteousness, the Lord will teach your children directly.
Great will be your children’s shalom—this includes wholeness, health and provision.
You are parenting by your life. Children hear what you say and will develop their belief system that way.
If you are fearful and speak fearful things in front of them, they will pick up on it and likely become fearful too.

“All your children will be taught by Yahweh; and your children’s peace will be great. In righteousness you will be established. You will be far from oppression, for you will not be afraid; and far from terror, for it shall not come near you.” (Isaiah‬ ‭54:13-14‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

2 Corinthians 4:3-4 - God created Adam to rule over the earth, but Adam bowed his knee to Satan and Satan became the ruler over the earth.
Satan was made a ‘god of this world’ by receiving Adam’s position.

“Even if our Good News is veiled, it is veiled in those who perish; in whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the Good News of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn on them.” (2 Corinthians‬ ‭4:3-4‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 8:30 - We have to be established in the gift of righteousness first before we can walk in holiness.

“Whom he predestined, those he also called. Whom he called, those he also justified. Whom he justified, those he also glorified.” (Romans‬ ‭8:30‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Isaiah 60:2 - This verse is not referring to the Millennium because there will be no darkness then. It is talking about these end times we are living in.
In Egypt, one of the last plagues that God sent was the plague of supernatural thick darkness.
The Egyptians couldn’t see each other, but the children of Israel had supernatural light in their dwellings.
This is also a picture of the times we live in.
It is in darkness that light becomes more obvious. Believers will shine even brighter in these last days.

“For, behold, darkness will cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but Yahweh will arise on you, and his glory shall be seen on you.” (Isaiah‬ ‭60:2‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

People who are being persecuted for the sake of the Gospel shine brightly with the glory of God. When Stephen was being persecuted by the chiefs priests and Pharisees, his face was shining like an angel.

You are righteous because of the obedience of Christ, not your obedience to Christ

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 - God’s weapons are spiritual, not natural.
Strongholds have been erected by the enemy. They are located in your mind.
The spiritual warfare is not outside, but inside your mind. That is the arena for battle.
A stronghold is a pattern of thinking that has grown in your mind. You think that they are your own thoughts, but they have been sown by the enemy.
If your emotions are negative, it’s an indicator of having bad thoughts in your mind.
Right believing produces right emotions and right living.
Our soul realm (mind and emotions) needs restoration. Our spirits are born-again, recreated.
The devil subtly shoots evil thoughts in your mind by using the personal pronoun: for example, “I am anorexic. I am unworthy.”
The subtlety of the enemy is that he doesn’t want to be detected.
A fact may not be the truth. A fact can change, but the truth is eternal and will always remain.
Bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, not your own obedience.
The devil wants to bring you into the state of self-occupation. The way to be delivered from that is to be Christ-occupied.
As you behold Christ, you are being transformed from glory to glory.
Beholding Christ is the material that the Holy Spirit has to work with to transform you.

“for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds, throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ;” (2 Corinthians‬ ‭10:4-5‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Matthew 6:31 - You take (receive) a thought by saying—speaking in agreement with the thought.
When the devil shoots a bad thought into your mind, you don’t have to agree with it or speak it.

“Therefore take no thought, saying, “What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?” (Matthew‬ ‭6:31‬ ‭KJV‬‬)

Isaiah 54:17 - In the chapter before this, Isaiah 53, it talks about the sufferings of the Messiah (Jesus) at the cross.
This chapter, Isaiah 54, talks about the fruits of Jesus’ finished work at the cross.
We have received the gift of righteousness.
Even if you have COVID-19 in your body right now, it is on it's way out of your body because no weapon formed against you can prosper.

“No weapon that is formed against you will prevail; and you will condemn every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of Yahweh’s servants, and their righteousness is of me,” says Yahweh.” (Isaiah‬ ‭54:17‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

2 Corinthians 4:13 - This is the spirit of faith: believe with your heart and speak with your mouth.

“But having the same spirit of faith, according to that which is written, “I believed, and therefore I spoke.” We also believe, and therefore also we speak;” (2 Corinthians‬ ‭4:13‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 10:10 - Again, we see believing with the heart and speaking with the mouth to receive the benefits of faith (salvation from all troubles).

“For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans‬ ‭10:10‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Mark 11:22 - God believed what He wanted to see, and He spoke it forth before it came to be. To have the faith of God is to have that same kind of faith.

“And Jesus answering saith to them, ‘Have faith of God;” (Mark‬ ‭11:22‬ ‭YLT98‬‬)

Joshua and Caleb saw the huge grapes and the goodness of the land of Canaan, whereas the other ten spies focused on the presence of giants and brought back an evil report. Are you focusing on God or on the giants?

Psalms 23:2 - Jesus your Good Shepherd makes you lie down and rest without any fear.

“He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.” (Psalms‬ ‭23:2‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Psalm 23:4 - You are only walking through the valley of the shadow of death, not permanently encamping in it. You will come out with Jesus beside you.

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” (Psalms‬ ‭23:4‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Psalm 23:6 - Look around, the goodness and mercy (hesed: grace) of God are hunting you down all the days of your life.

“Surely goodness and loving kindness shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in Yahweh’s house forever.” (Psalms‬ ‭23:6‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Bible hope (elpis) is having a confident expectation of good in your future. Faith deals with believing now.

Psalm 23:5 - You can eat in the midst of your enemies.

“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil. My cup runs over.” (Psalms‬ ‭23:5‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 5:19 - We are sinners because of Adam’s sin which we received through his blood.
How do we become righteous? By receiving Jesus’ righteousness, through His obedience at the cross.

“For as through the one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the one, many will be made righteous.” (Romans‬ ‭5:19‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Testimony: a man was bound by destruction habits. He heard Pastor Prince teaching how the devil uses the personal pronoun to sow a thought in a person’s mind. That man went home and declared loudly in his room, “I am not an addict! I am the righteousness of God in Christ!” He was subsequently delivered from his addiction. Whenever he had the same kind of thoughts to tempt him, it didn’t even affect him anymore.

Acts 10:43-44 - The Law gives you works to perform, whereas Grace gives you words to believe upon.
The word translated as “fell” in the passage below is the same word in Greek as in Jesus’ parable of the prodigal son whereby the father embraced/hugged his son who came home.
The Holy Spirit gave the people in Cornelius’ house a big bear hug and they all spoke in tongues.

“All the prophets testify about him, that through his name everyone who believes in him will receive remission of sins.” While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all those who heard the word.” (Acts‬ ‭10:43-44‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Acts 11:17-18 - Peter didn’t use the word “repent” or “repentance” when he preached to Cornelius household, but repentance was going on.
Cornelius’ household changed their mind about God and believed in the Gospel which the obedience of Christ.

“If then God gave to them the same gift as us, when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I, that I could withstand God?” When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, “Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life!”” (Acts‬ ‭11:17-18‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Revelation 2:2 - There is a radiance and joy in holiness.
“Works”, “toil” and “perseverance”. The church of Ephesus did many works, but they were done without faith, hope and love.

““I know your works, and your toil and perseverance, and that you can’t tolerate evil men, and have tested those who call themselves apostles, and they are not, and found them false.” (Revelation‬ ‭2:2‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

1 Thessalonians 1:3 - What was missing in the church of Ephesus was faith, hope and love, but these fruits of the Holy Spirit were present in the church of Thessalonica.
Every good preaching produces faith, hope and love.

“remembering without ceasing your work of faith and labor of love and perseverance of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, before our God and Father.” (1 Thessalonians‬ ‭1:3‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

1 Thessalonians 5:8 - We are people of the day, not children of the night.
Without Jesus, nothing is day. With Jesus, nothing is night.
Jesus is the light of the world, lighting up your situation.
The helmet is the “hope” of salvation—the confident expectation of good in your future because of the truth that you are saved.

“But let us, since we belong to the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and, for a helmet, the hope of salvation.” (1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5:8‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

1 Peter 3:10 - Watch what you say. Those who said they could not enter the promised land all died in the wilderness. Joshua and Caleb who spoke with a spirit of faith got what they spoke. They entered the land and defeated the giants.

“For, “He who would love life, and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit.” (1 Peter‬ ‭3:10‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Genesis 15:5-6 - Abraham became righteous through faith—by believing in the Lord Yahweh.

“Yahweh brought him outside, and said, “Look now toward the sky, and count the stars, if you are able to count them.” He said to Abram, “So will your offspring be.” He believed in Yahweh, who credited it to him for righteousness.” (Genesis‬ ‭15:5-6‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Galatians 3:9 - The way Abraham was blessed is the same way as we are blessed—through the righteousness of faith. We receive blessings by believing God’s promises, not by earning them through works.

“So then, those who are of faith are blessed with the faithful Abraham.” (Galatians‬ ‭3:9‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Psalm 128:3-4 - You are a blessed man when you believe in justification through faith.
You don’t need to make your wife a fruitful vine. God will make that happen.
You will have a wonderfully intoxicating marriage, full of love, like good wine.
Your only job is to believe that you are righteous by faith, just like Abraham.
Your children will be anointed. They will succeed not based on their efforts, but because of God’s anointing upon their lives.

“Your wife will be as a fruitful vine, in the innermost parts of your house; your children like olive plants, around your table. Behold, thus is the man blessed who fears Yahweh.” (Psalms‬ ‭128:3-4‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

When we experience Jesus’ forgiveness and love, we will be empowered to extend that forgiveness and love to others as well.

Your righteousness is in Heaven. Your righteousness is Jesus Christ who is seated in Heaven.
