8 November 2020 - Receive your Inheritance by Grace Alone - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Sermon Notes

Pastor Joseph Prince taught that through the Law of Moses, we cannot inherit what Christ purchased for us at the cross. We can only receive it by Grace through faith. Through the Holy Spirit in you, arise to the spirit of sonship, for you are no longer a slave to sin!

Galatians 3:5 - The word translated as “supplies” below is in the present continuous tense.
God is constantly supplying the Spirit and doing miracles.
Receive miracles through hearing of faith, not by the works of the Law.

“He therefore who supplies the Spirit to you, and does miracles among you, does he do it by the works of the law, or by hearing of faith?” (Galatians‬ ‭3:5‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Luke 24:47 - Jerusalem is the guiltiest city for it rejected and crucified Jesus Christ. The Gospel began spreading from there—this is God’s Grace. Where sin abounded, Grace super-abounds!

“and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem.” (Luke‬ ‭24:47‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

God ordained for the Romans to be in power during Jesus’ time on earth. The Romans built good roads.
It was on these roads that the Apostle Paul embarked on his missionary journeys.

The Greek language was the most widely used language in the world during Jesus’ time.
Greek is the most exact and precise language.
Example: for one word in English, love, Greek has many words to differentiate the type of love: phileo (brotherly love between friends), agape (the God kind of love), eros (sexual and romantic love).

Matthew 24:38 - The devil caused the COVID-19 pandemic, but God allowed it, causing the Gospel to go forth further than ever before, online.
Souls are being saved at a greater rate than before the pandemic.
Physical church gatherings will eventually resume.
Before the coming of the Lord, life will be back to normal, with no pandemic.

“For as in those days which were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ship,” (Matthew‬ ‭24:38‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Galatians 4:6-7 - We are not bondservants under the Law. We are sons (in Greek: huios) and therefore heirs of God through Christ.
Israel was under the Law which is the fundamental principles—like ABCs.
Now under Grace, we are full-grown adult sons.
When the son of the boss of a company goes to the office, he works with a different spirit.
If an office worker forgets to switch off the air-con, the son checks and turns it off. He has a personal stake in it because he is going to be the heir.
When we live with a spirit of sonship, we will work more excellently.
The Holy Spirit in our hearts teaches us to see God as our Father, producing the appropriate affections in our hearts.

“And because you are children, God sent out the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, “Abba, Father!” So you are no longer a bondservant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.” (Galatians‬ ‭4:6-7‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 8:14-16 - God is most pleased when you approach Him as “Father”.
You don’t have fear Him or feel distant from Him. Own the spirit of sonship.
The “fear of the Lord” is not slavish fear as if you are a slave.
It is having a reverential, worshipful awe towards God.
We sense the leading of the Holy Spirit through this spirit of sonship.
The Spirit will never lead you to break the Ten Commandments. In fact, He will lead you to exceed its requirements.
Instead of being stingy, you will be generous.
Instead of having a loveless marriage, you will love your wife the way Christ loves His church.
The Holy Spirit guides you as you get moving—take a step of faith. It is hard to guide a parked car.
The Holy Spirit leads you from within. You will know when to do something, and when not to.
If you don’t do something He leads you to do, you will feel an inward frustration.
After you do it, you will sense the peace within.

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God. For you didn’t receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God;” (Romans‬ ‭8:14-16‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

James 2:10 - The Law is a composite whole. If you break one commandment out of the Ten Commandments, you are counted as having broken them all.
It is like a pearl necklace. When one part of the string breaks, all the pearls fall out.

“For whoever keeps the whole law, and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all.” (James‬ ‭2:10‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

No one can love God with all their heart, soul, strength and mind. Only God does that towards us—He proved it by sending Jesus to die for us.
We must know that He loves us, so that we can love one another.

The Old Testament is the new concealed. The New Testament is the old revealed.
When you read the Law, let the Holy Spirit reveal Jesus to you from within.

Romans 10:4 - Jesus already fulfilled the Law on our behalf.

“For Christ is the fulfillment of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.” (Romans‬ ‭10:4‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Matthew 5:17-18 - Jesus didn’t destroy the Law—He already fulfilled it through His finished work at the cross.

““Don’t think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets. I didn’t come to destroy, but to fulfill. For most certainly, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not even one smallest letter or one tiny pen stroke shall in any way pass away from the law, until all things are accomplished.” (Matthew‬ ‭5:17-18‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Pastor Prince taught that you cannot receive the inheritance when you try to mix Christ and the works of the Law. You have to receive it by Grace alone.

You cannot inherit while being under the Law

Galatians 4:21-31 - Christ alone saves. Not Christ plus the Law.
Abraham had two sons: Isaac and Ishmael.
Ishmael was born according to the flesh (fleshly human efforts) to try and fulfillment God’s promise.
Abraham was still virile at the time when he had Ishmael.
Abraham’s body was no longer virile and Sarah’s womb was dead too when God appeared to them and said it was time for Isaac to be born.
God introduced Himself as El Shaddai, “the Almighty One”.
God supplied resurrection power to Abraham and Sarah, and Sarah conceived.
God’s power caused Sarah to be renewed in her youth and to be fruitful.
At 89 years old, Abimelech, a Philistine king wanted Sarah to be in his harem. That was how beautiful and young she became.
Female Christians are called daughters of Sarah because Sarah is the only woman in the Bible who was recorded as having her youth renewed. God wants you to be renewed in your youth.
When you try to keep the Law, it is like being Hagar the bondservant’s child. It is backsliding and falling from Grace.
Those who put themselves under the Law today persecute those who are under Grace.
Isaac and Ishmael share the same father, but not the same mother.
All believers have the same Heavenly Father. But those who try to keep the Law have Hagar as their mother. Those who live by Grace have Sarah as their mother.
If you are under the Law, you cannot share the inheritance with those who are under Grace.

“Tell me, you that desire to be under the law, don’t you listen to the law? For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the servant, and one by the free woman. However, the son by the servant was born according to the flesh, but the son by the free woman was born through promise. These things contain an allegory, for these are two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai, bearing children to bondage, which is Hagar. For this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and answers to the Jerusalem that exists now, for she is in bondage with her children. But the Jerusalem that is above is free, which is the mother of us all. For it is written, “Rejoice, you barren who don’t bear. Break out and shout, you that don’t travail. For more are the children of the desolate than of her who has a husband.” Now we, brothers, as Isaac was, are children of promise. But as then, he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, so also it is now. However what does the Scripture say? “Throw out the servant and her son, for the son of the servant will not inherit with the son of the free woman.” So then, brothers, we are not children of a servant, but of the free woman.” (Galatians‬ ‭4:21-31‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Galatians 4:15 - When you steer away from the purity of the Gospel, you will lose the sense of blessedness of your salvation.

“What was the blessing you enjoyed? For I testify to you that, if possible, you would have plucked out your eyes and given them to me.” (Galatians‬ ‭4:15‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Galatians 1:6 - The Grace of Christ is the Gospel. Any teachings asking you to keep the Law is a false gospel, and whoever preaches such a gospel will be under a double curse.

“I marvel that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ to a different “good news”;” (Galatians‬ ‭1:6‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Isaiah 54:1-3 - God wants you to rejoice because of Jesus’ finished work at the cross.
Start preparing for growth and receive your miracle by faith.

““Sing, barren, you who didn’t give birth; break out into singing, and cry aloud, you who did not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife,” says Yahweh. “Enlarge the place of your tent, and let them stretch out the curtains of your habitations; don’t spare: lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes. For you will spread out on the right hand and on the left; and your offspring will possess the nations, and settle in desolate cities.” (Isaiah‬ ‭54:1-3‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

When God promises something, it means it is not up to you to fulfill it. You just have to show up and receive it from God.

Luke 15:24 - Instead of stoning the younger son for his sins, the father showered him with hugs and kisses.

“for this, my son, was dead, and is alive again. He was lost, and is found.’ They began to celebrate.” (Luke‬ ‭15:24‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Luke 15:29-32 - The older son never felt at ease in his father’s presence.
He tried to earn his father’s approval by his performance.
Instead of calling him “son” (huios), the father called the older son “child” (teknon).
The older son was acting like a little immature child, not a full-grown, mature son. Loved nonetheless, but not mature.
The older son could have killed the fattened calf any time he wanted. It was already his—he did not have to earn it.

“But he answered his father, ‘Behold, these many years I have served you, and I never disobeyed a commandment of yours, but you never gave me a goat, that I might celebrate with my friends. But when this, your son, came, who has devoured your living with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him.’ “He said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours. But it was appropriate to celebrate and be glad, for this, your brother, was dead, and is alive again. He was lost, and is found.’”” (Luke‬ ‭15:29-32‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Hebrews 5:12-13 - How do you know you have grown to the stature of sonship?
When you hear the word “righteousness”, what do you think?
Is it something you have to earn by things you do, or is it a gift that you have received?
Righteousness is a gift, not something you earn through your works.

“For although by this time you should be teachers, you again need to have someone teach you the rudiments of the first principles of the revelations of God. You have come to need milk, and not solid food. For everyone who lives on milk is not experienced in the word of righteousness, for he is a baby.” (Hebrews‬ ‭5:12-13‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Song of Solomon 4:2 - The church of Jesus Christ is coming into the place of sonship. Their teeth are showing—they are ready for solid food. No need to only drink milk.

“Your teeth are like a newly shorn flock, which have come up from the washing, where every one of them has twins. None is bereaved among them.” (Song of Solomon‬ ‭4:2‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Genesis 21:8-10 - Isaac was weaned off milk and Abraham threw a great feast for him. It was a big deal and a huge celebration.
Ishmael was laughing at Isaac. It made Sarah realize that she had to drive out Ishmael, for he may try to kill Isaac in the future to take the inheritance for himself.
We cannot inherit anything from God if we are still under the Law.
We must hold on to Grace, not the Law.
When God the Father weans you off from milk (the basic foundational truths of righteousness), He opens the door to grace for you.
Put “hei” (Grace) in the middle of the word “abba” and you get “ahav” which means love.

“The child grew, and was weaned. Abraham made a great feast on the day that Isaac was weaned. Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, mocking. Therefore she said to Abraham, “Cast out this servant and her son! For the son of this servant will not be heir with my son, Isaac.”” (Genesis‬ ‭21:8-10‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Genesis 22:2 - This is the first occurrence of love in the Bible. It is love for the son.
If you want to know how much the Father loves you, look at how much He loves Jesus. He gave up Jesus to have you.

“He said, “Now take your son, your only son, whom you love, even Isaac, and go into the land of Moriah. Offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains which I will tell you of.”” (Genesis‬ ‭22:2‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Genesis 24 - This is the longest chapter in the Book of Genesis.
Following Abraham’s instruction, the unnamed servant went on a journey to find a bride for Isaac.
The bride, Rebekah, is a picture of the church.
Isaac is a picture of Jesus the Son.
The unnamed servant is a picture of the Holy Spirit.
Just as the unnamed servant must have told stories about Isaac to Rebekah as they travelled in the wilderness, the Holy Spirit also teaches us about Jesus while we are on the way to Heaven.
When Rebekah saw Isaac, she fell off her camel.
It is like how we will be swept off our feet when Jesus comes to receive us in the Rapture.

A woman’s womb is becoming fruitful. God is resurrecting that woman’s womb. This woman wanted to be pregnant when she heard the part about “Sarah’s dead womb being resurrected”.

Pastor Joseph Prince taught that through the Law of Moses, we cannot inherit what Christ purchased for us at the cross. We can only receive it by Grace through faith. Through the Holy Spirit in you, arise to the spirit of sonship, for you are no longer a slave to sin!
