14 March 2021 - Why We Can Always Rejoice - New Creation Church Sermon Notes - Pastor Lawrence Lim Sermon Notes

Pastor Lawrence Lim reminded us that regardless of our outward circumstances, we can always rejoice in the Lord. When we know that God loves us and that all our sins have been forgiven, we will rejoice!

Praise and Worship Songs Performed:
1. Who You Say I Am - Hillsong Music
2. Supply - New Creation Worship

Romans 10:14-15 - The New Testament is about good news for believers. Good news lights a hope in your heart.

“How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in him whom they have not heard? How will they hear without a preacher? And how will they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the Good News of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!”” (Romans‬ ‭10:14-15‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

John 10:10-11 - God is always good and the devil is always bad. Jesus laid down His life so that we can truly enjoy life.

“The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows). I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd risks and lays down His [own] life for the sheep. [Ps. 23.]” (John‬ ‭10:10-11‬ ‭AMPC‬‬)

Return evil with good, not evil for evil.

Matthew 7:11 - God gives good gifts to you when you ask for them.

“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him.” (Matthew‬ ‭7:11‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Philippians 4:4 - In the midst of having chains around his limbs and being in prison, the apostle Paul wrote to rejoice in the Lord always.
Our joy is not found in outward circumstances—it is found in the Lord.
The epistle to the Philippians is Paul’s “ode to joy”.

“Rejoice in the Lord always! Again I will say, “Rejoice!”” (Philippians‬ ‭4:4‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Acts 16:25 - Paul and Silas were beaten with rods and thrown into an inner prison. Yet, the two of them were praying and singing hymns to God at midnight.
Midnight speaks of the darkest moments of our lives.
There is something to rejoice about now. Your circumstances may not be good, but your God is good.
Stop looking to your circumstances to decide if you should rejoice or not.
When we praise our good Father, He will turn around the situation for our good.

“But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.” (Acts‬ ‭16:25‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Philippians 3:13-14 - Forget the bad things that you have experienced. Close the chapter to your past hurts and let them go.

“Brothers, I don’t regard myself as yet having taken hold, but one thing I do. Forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians‬ ‭3:13-14‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Philippians 2:14 - Let’s not live life complaining. Start giving thanks for the blessings that you do have.
Start giving thanks for the good things you see in your spouse.

“Do all things without murmurings and disputes,” (Philippians‬ ‭2:14‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Pastor Lawrence Lim reminded us that regardless of our outward circumstances, we can always rejoice in the Lord. When we know that God loves us and that all our sins have been forgiven, we will rejoice!
Pastor Lawrence Lim reminded us that regardless of our outward circumstances, we can always rejoice in the Lord. When we know that God loves us and that all our sins have been forgiven, we will rejoice!

Always choose to rejoice in the Lord, independent of your outward circumstances

Philippians 1:18 - It is a matter of perspective. It’s about how we see things.

“What does it matter? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed. I rejoice in this, yes, and will rejoice.” (Philippians‬ ‭1:18‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Psalm 23:5 - Always see the best in every situation. Your cup is not half empty or half full—it is overflowing with blessings!

“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil. My cup runs over.” (Psalms‬ ‭23:5‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 15:13 - Bible hope is a confident expectation of good things to come. God wants you to live life filled with hope.

“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope, in the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Romans‬ ‭15:13‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

1 Timothy 1:1 - The Lord Jesus Christ is our hope.

“Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ according to the commandment of God our Savior and the Lord Jesus Christ our hope;” (1 Timothy‬ ‭1:1‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Philippians 3:1 - Joy is something that needs to be cultivated. We need to constantly be reminded to rejoice in the Lord.

“Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not tiresome, but for you it is safe.” (Philippians‬ ‭3:1‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Proverbs 17:22 - Medical science tells us that laughter boosts the immune system, keeps us young, protects us from inflammation, stress, and disease.

“A cheerful heart makes good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”(Proverbs‬ ‭17:22‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

2 Corinthians 7:10 - The sorrow of the world produces death—sickness is a form of death.

“For godly sorrow produces repentance to salvation, which brings no regret. But the sorrow of the world produces death.” (2 Corinthians‬ ‭7:10‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

James 1:2-4 - Rejoicing in the Lord is not a religious duty, but something that comes from understanding God’s love for you.

“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” (James‬ ‭1:2-4‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

John 15:9-12 - When the joy of the Lord comes into our hearts, our heart will be full of joy. Joy comes from knowing that God loves you.

“Even as the Father has loved me, I also have loved you. Remain in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and remain in his love. I have spoken these things to you, that my joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be made full. “This is my commandment, that you love one another, even as I have loved you.” (John‬ ‭15:9-12‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 4:5-8 - Paul was quoting from Psalm 32.

“But to him who doesn’t work, but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness. Even as David also pronounces blessing on the man to whom God counts righteousness apart from works, “Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whom the Lord will by no means charge with sin.”” (Romans‬ ‭4:5-8‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Psalm 32:1-2 - The word here translated as “blessed” is not the usual Hebrew word for bless which is “barak”. The word is “asher” instead which means “happy”.
We can rejoice in the Lord because we know that all our sins are forgiven.

“Blessed is he whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man to whom Yahweh doesn’t impute iniquity, in whose spirit there is no deceit.” (Psalms‬ ‭32:1-2‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Ephesians 1:7 - This is why we can rejoice. We have the forgiveness of our trespasses.

“in whom we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,” (Ephesians‬ ‭1:7‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 8:1 - God will never count your sins against you—you have been forgiven. There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” (Romans‬ ‭8:1‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

We are spiritual Isaac (seed of Abraham). Isaac means “laughter”.

2 Corinthians 9:7 - Laugh when you give hilariously. When you sow a seed, you will receive a tree that is full of fruits that have many seeds. God will make His Grace abound towards you.

“Let each man give according as he has determined in his heart; not grudgingly, or under compulsion; for God loves a cheerful giver.” (2 Corinthians‬ ‭9:7‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Philippians 4:8 - Take memory verses and imagery from the Bible to meditate on in your mind.
Instead of commanding your anger to go away, you can focus on positive thoughts, and the anger will disappear.
All these good virtues are found in Jesus. Meditate on Him.

“Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things.” (Philippians‬ ‭4:8‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Psalms 45:7 - This verse is a Messianic prophecy about Jesus. Jesus was anointed with the oil of gladness—He must have been the happiest man to ever walk the earth.

“You have loved righteousness, and hated wickedness. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your fellows.” (Psalms‬ ‭45:7‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Isaiah 53:2-5 - On the cross, Jesus became a man of sorrows because He took our sorrows upon Himself.
He took them so that we can always rejoice in Him today.

“For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, And as a root out of dry ground. He has no form or comeliness; And when we see Him, There is no beauty that we should desire Him. He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.” (Isaiah‬ ‭53:2-5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

Psalm 23:4 - Even when you are walking through the valley of the shadow of death, you can still rejoice because Jesus is still with you to protect and guide you.

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” (Psalms‬ ‭23:4‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Pastor Lawrence prayed for people who are trapped by depression to be set free from this mental oppression.

Thank you for being such a blessing to my family by reading my Christian content and purchasing my products. I write freelance full-time and am the main caretaker to my 4 year old daughter, so your seed sown allows me to keep writing content for Jesus' glory, to build up the body of Christ and for the Gospel to reach unbelievers who are yet to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

My website receives hundreds of thousands of page views a year, and my Facebook page's posts reach millions of users a year. Every view is a precious seed of the Gospel sown in a person's heart, and knowing that keeps me going, even on days where it feels like what i'm doing seems insignificant or a waste of time.

All these labors to study God's word and reach the world for Jesus takes both time and money, so thank you once again for being a co-partner in this mission.

Messiah's Miracles—The Power of Having Faith in Jesus Christ

$14.99 $9.99
I have prayed for others and seen instant healing miracles and received supernatural words of knowledge about them. I have also received miracles through prayer and others praying for me.

The Bible clearly reveals God’s will for every believer to walk in the miraculous. If you’re tired of a Christian walk that has no evidence of God’s manifested power, all it takes is to replace some wrong beliefs so that unbelief can be cast out. This is what I believe the Holy Spirit wants to do through this book.

Under the New Covenant of Grace, every blessing is received by faith. Faith comes by hearing about Jesus and this book is all about Jesus and designed to impart faith to the reader. During Jesus’ ministry on earth, He didn’t work any miracles by His own authority as God. He relied completely on faith in His Father and the power of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit purposefully chose 37 of Jesus’ miracles to be recorded in the four gospels. This is no coincidence. Each miracle reveals something powerful about our Lord Jesus. As you behold Jesus' love, grace and mercy expounded in these 37 miracles, I believe that you will see miracles erupt in your own life!

Testimonials from readers:

“One of my most trusted teachers has truly written a masterpiece. I can't put this book down.”
- Michael Clark, Highly Sought-After Preacher in USA

“Thank you, Milton for the anointed sharing of the 37 miracles of Jesus. Right from the 1st miracle, God dropped fresh revelations of His heart to me. It wasn't head knowledge that I experienced. I felt His personality, His loving heart's intents towards me. On top of that, there's also revelation of His healing power. Praise Jesus for transforming my heart and bringing me closer to Him through Milton's sharing.”
- Ann Tan, GEM patron from Singapore

"Great writer and theologian. I love your work. You are in tune with the Holy Spirit."

- Pastor Dave Hammond, Faith Baptist Church of Myra, USA

"Milton Goh my brother, your insight on Grace has set me free from 20 yrs of addiction. I was a 7 time felon but by the GRACE of God I am now an ordained minister. Here is some of my story: I was saved in Dec 2016 and started evangelizing in July of 2017 as soon as I was released. My ministry has led over 800 to Jesus. I go to jails, rehabs, homeless shelters plus numerous churches! Your notes and sermons allowed me to find rest in Jesus. I was getting tired trying to perform what I thought God needed from me. You have made me realize it's 100% the CROSS and now I go constantly for Jesus but never get tired. Thanks for your wisdom and love for Jesus. May God bless you and your family!"

- Evangelist Michael Clark from Cumberland, Kentucky, USA

"Milton Goh gives common sense insight on often confusing scripture, which is much appreciated in these troubled times."

- Mike Garrett, first Editor/ Publisher for Stephen King and Author of Christian Novel "Innocence Denied", from USA
