31 January 2021 - Good Success From Biblical Meditation - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Sermon Notes

Pastor Joseph Prince taught us how to make our way prosperous in all areas of our lives. Whenever God mentions Biblical meditation, He always states an accompanying blessing. Mutter God’s word and see good success!

Pastor Prince had a dream from God. In the dream, he was fishing by a tranquil lake. Suddenly, white skulls bobbed up onto the water surface, contrasted with the tranquil lake. Then, a crocodile burst out from the water and crunched up all the skulls, before disappearing back underwater.

Through the dream, God was showing Pastor Prince that the devil is targeting carnally-minded people this year. The tranquil dry land Pastor was standing on represents being in the Spirit—a place where one cannot be devoured by the devil.

Romans 8:6 - To be carnally-minded means to trust in your self efforts, wisdom, strength, talents and ability.
To be carnally-minded is to become food for the enemy.

“For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace;”(Romans‬ ‭8:6‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Genesis 3:19b - Man became carnally-minded after he fell.
We are tripartite beings that are spirits that have souls that live in a body.
The body is made from the dust of the earth, but the real man (the immortal spirit) has to be housed somewhere in eternity.
Those who are saved will be in Heaven and those who die as unbelievers will be in the lake of fire.

“...For you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”” (Genesis‬ ‭3:19b‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Genesis 3:14 - The serpent’s food became dust. The devil feeds on your carnal-mindedness.

“Yahweh God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, you are cursed above all livestock, and above every animal of the field. You shall go on your belly and you shall eat dust all the days of your life.” (Genesis‬ ‭3:14‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

You are in Christ Jesus, and practically, you are staying in the Spirit.

Proverbs 3:13-17 - Wisdom is personified as a woman in this passage.
When you embrace God’s wisdom, wisdom will embrace you back and you will receive these five benefits which are in her hands: 1) length of days, 2) riches, 3) honor, 4) pleasantness, 5) peace.
God is not against you having money (John 10:10), but He is against money having you.
When you give tithes and bless the poor, you will break the love of money in you (1 Timothy 6:10a).
The way of a Christian is easy and light—pleasantness. In contrast, the way of a sinner (transgressor) is hard.
We have peace with God (Romans 5:1).
The Hebrew word for wisdom is “chokmah”.
The Hebrew word for understanding is “bin”.

“Happy is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gets understanding. For her good profit is better than getting silver, and her return is better than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies. None of the things you can desire are to be compared to her. Length of days is in her right hand. In her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness. All her paths are peace.” (Proverbs‬ ‭3:13-17‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Ephesians 1:17-18 - Pray this prayer daily this year.
Our hearts have eyes. What we see from God in our hearts is the hazon vision.
Adam had the choice of opening his spiritual eyes either by the tree of the knowledge of good and evil or the tree of life.
The word “enlightened” is the Greek word “photizo” from which we get the English word “photo”.

“that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him; having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,” (Ephesians‬ ‭1:17-18‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Luke 24:16 - It is more important for us to see Jesus in the Scriptures than in person.
Jesus walking with Cleopas and the other disciple on the road to Emmaus is a parallel with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.
Before the fall, Adam and Eve walked with God in the garden in the cool of the day.
Adam and Eve ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and saw their nakedness (Genesis 3:7).
Cleopas and the other disciple partook of the broken bread (a picture of the Holy Communion) and had their minds opened to recognize Jesus.

“But their eyes were kept from recognizing him.” (Luke‬ ‭24:16‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Psalm 119:130 - The word “entrance” in Hebrew is “pethach” which means “an opening”. Every time you receive God’s word, you are opening the door to God’s light.
The word “understanding” in Hebrew here is also “bin”.

“The entrance of your words gives light. It gives understanding to the simple.” (Psalms‬ ‭119:130‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

The Old Testament was written in Hebrew and the New Testament was written in Greek. The Greek version of the Old Testament is called the “Septuagint”. It is useful because you can compare the same Greek words between the Old Testament and the New Testament, and know that they are talking about the same truths.

Joshua 1:8 - Back then, Joshua only had the five first books of the Scriptures (the Torah written by Moses).
It is not good enough just to read, but to meditate on it day and night.
The word “meditate” in Hebrew is “hagah” which means “to mutter”. Biblical meditation means to mutter God’s word with your mouth and think about the words you are speaking.
When you do this, you will see the meaning of the passage you are meditating on, in the eyes of your heart.
The words “good success” is “sakal” in Hebrew.
Every day, take a piece of scripture, memorize it, and mutter it.

“This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it; for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.” (Joshua‬ ‭1:8‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Deuteronomy 34:9 - Joshua was full of the spirit of wisdom and understanding because Moses laid his hands on him.
After that, we read that it is wise to meditate on God’s word day and night.

“Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands on him. The children of Israel listened to him, and did as Yahweh commanded Moses.” (Deuteronomy‬ ‭34:9‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Meditate on God's word to receive wisdom and understanding for good success!

1 Timothy 4:13-16 - When God’s word talks about meditation, there is always an accompanying blessing.
The word “meditate” here is “meletaó” in Greek.
Your profiting will be visible and palpable. Just like how Potiphar saw that God made everything Joseph did to prosper.
When you meditate on God’s word, you will be saved from troubles, from diseases, from poverty, etc.
This “save” in the passage is not talking about salvation from Hell since it is addressed to Timothy—a believer who is already saved.

“Until I come, pay attention to reading, to exhortation, and to teaching. Don’t neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the elders. Be diligent in these things. Give yourself wholly to them, that your progress may be revealed to all. Pay attention to yourself, and to your teaching. Continue in these things, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.” (1 Timothy‬ ‭4:13-16‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Psalm 1:2-3 - The law of the Lord is talking about the Word of God, not specifically about the Ten Commandments.
The tree being planted means that you are tenderly cared for by God.
When you meditate on God’s word day and night, your leaf does not wither. You will not become old. Health and healing will never depart from you.
Whatever you do prospers! No man-made system can teach you to prosper in every area of your life.

“but his delight is in Yahweh’s law. On his law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water, that produces its fruit in its season, whose leaf also does not wither. Whatever he does shall prosper.” (Psalms‬ ‭1:2-3‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Genesis 41:32-33 - The word for “discerning” here is also “bin” in Hebrew. The word for “wise” here is “chakam” (the root word for chokmah).

“The dream was doubled to Pharaoh, because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass. “Now therefore let Pharaoh look for a discreet and wise man, and set him over the land of Egypt.” (Genesis‬ ‭41:32-33‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Genesis 41:37-40 - Nothing can replace a wise and discerning man. These are qualities that even the world values.

“The thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants. Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find such a one as this, a man in whom is the Spirit of God?” Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Because God has shown you all of this, there is no one so discreet and wise as you. You shall be over my house, and according to your word will all my people be ruled. Only in the throne I will be greater than you.”” (Genesis‬ ‭41:37-40‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Luke 2:52 - The very first area Jesus increased in is wisdom.

“And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.” (Luke‬ ‭2:52‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Psalm 119:99 - This Messianic psalm shows that Jesus as a boy had more understanding than all His teachers.
It is one thing to have knowledge but another thing to have understanding.
Sakal means to put things to together to result in a positive outcome—good success.
As a boy of twelve years old, Jesus did not preach to the religious teachers of Israel, but He asked questions. This is morally appropriate for a boy of His age.
Jesus meditated on the Scriptures and when He was tested by the devil in the wilderness, He quoted God’s word. Jesus’ heart was always full of God’s word.

“I have more understanding than all my teachers, for your testimonies are my meditation.” (Psalms‬ ‭119:99‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Don’t see your spouse in the natural but in the supernatural. Have a hazon vision of him/her. This can turn around any marriage. See your wife as a fruitful vine who intoxicates you with her love. See your husband as a strong oak tree who is stable, firm, and steadfast.

Matthew 13:18-19 - The word “understand” here is “sunyiemi” in Greek. The Hebrew equivalent is “sakal”.
Hearing a truth does not necessarily mean that a person will understand it. Understanding comes through meditation.
A cow has four stomachs. It chews the cud, swallows it, regurgitates it, and then chews it again. This is like the process of meditation.

““Hear, then, the parable of the farmer. When anyone hears the word of the Kingdom, and doesn’t understand it, the evil one comes, and snatches away that which has been sown in his heart. This is what was sown by the roadside.” (Matthew‬ ‭13:18-19‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Psalm 119:25 - Meditating on God’s word can reinvigorate you and strengthen your body.
If you can’t fall asleep at night, spend time meditating on God’s word before you sleep, and when you wake up in the middle of the night.
God can make the few hours of sleep you have supernaturally good for you so that you feel well rested.

“My soul is laid low in the dust. Revive me according to your word!” (Psalms‬ ‭119:25‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Jeremiah 1:17-19 - Jeremiah was a young prophet and he was afraid of preaching to the elders and kings of Judah.
God gave him a hazon vision. Jeremiah saw himself as a fortified city, bronze walls, and an iron pillar.
If you are afraid of speaking in front of people, you can have this hazon vision for yourself.

““You therefore put your belt on your waist, arise, and say to them all that I command you. Don’t be dismayed at them, lest I dismay you before them. For, behold, I have made you today a fortified city, an iron pillar, and bronze walls, against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against its princes, against its priests, and against the people of the land. They will fight against you, but they will not prevail against you; for I am with you”, says Yahweh, “to rescue you.” (Jeremiah‬ ‭1:17-19‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

2 Timothy 3:15 - Parents, take time to teach your children about God’s word. Teach them by precept (verbal instruction) and also by example (applying the truths in your own life).

“From infancy, you have known the holy Scriptures which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith, which is in Christ Jesus.” (2 Timothy‬ ‭3:15‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Deuteronomy 11:18-21 - Teach your children God’s word, and fill your heart with God’s word.
Then, you and your family will enjoy days of Heaven on earth.

“Therefore you shall lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul. You shall bind them for a sign on your hand, and they shall be for frontlets between your eyes. You shall teach them your children, talking of them, when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall write them on the door posts of your house, and on your gates; that your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers to give them, as the days of the heavens above the earth.” (Deuteronomy‬ ‭11:18-21‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Someone healed of lung condition that was captured as a dark spot on X-ray.
Watery eyes.
Shoulder condition whereby the person cannot lift the shoulder all the way up.
Knee conditions on both sides are being healed.
Heartburn that causes sleepless nights.
