13 December 2020 - Have a Good Opinion of God - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Sermon Notes

Pastor Joseph Prince taught that faith is having a good opinion of God. When we count Him faithful to fulfill His promises, we can say “Amen” to them and receive the manifestation of these promises in our lives!

Many benefits will accrue to us when we receive God’s word.

The part of us that is born again is our spirit. Our soul (mind, will and emotions) is still being progressively saved and renewed. Our bodies as well.

1 Peter 1:23 - Our spirit is reborn of incorruptible seed.

“having been born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, through the word of God, which lives and remains forever.” (1 Peter‬ ‭1:23‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

James 1:21 - This is written to believers. Even for believers, your souls (mind, will and emotions) need saving.

“Therefore, putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.” (James‬ ‭1:21‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Proverbs 4:22 - God’s word is medicine to all your flesh.
God’s word has no negative side effects. Take as much as you want. Be a word addict!

“For they are life to those who find them, and health to their whole body.” (Proverbs‬ ‭4:22‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Hebrews 11:6 - Since it is impossible to please God without faith, it is incumbent on us to learn how to walk by faith.

“Without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him.” (Hebrews‬ ‭11:6‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Ephesian 2:8 - Faith is the currency of Heaven.
Faith is like a bird. The more you focus on your need for faith and chase it, it seems to fly away. But when you focus on Jesus, faith comes.

“for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,” (Ephesians‬ ‭2:8‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Hebrews 11:1 - Faith is having a good opinion of God.

“Now faith is assurance of things hoped for, proof of things not seen.” (Hebrews‬ ‭11:1‬ ‭WEB)‬‬

Acts 20:21 - God is not angry or out to get you. He welcomes you into His embrace, like the father of the prodigal son.
That is the first area we have to repent of.

“testifying both to Jews and to Greeks repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus.” (Acts‬ ‭20:21‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 8:32 - God is for you, not against you. He always has your greatest good in His heart.

“He who didn’t spare his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how would he not also with him freely give us all things?” (Romans‬ ‭8:32‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Hebrews 11:11 - Count God faithful to keep His promises.
Even when the physical evidence was against Sarah, she still judged God faithful.
You don’t have to conjure up faith. Just rest in God’s faithfulness.
We are branches that rest in the Vine and receive the supply to bear good fruits.

“By faith, even Sarah herself received power to conceive, and she bore a child when she was past age, since she counted him faithful who had promised.” (Hebrews‬ ‭11:11‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Genesis 42:36 - The things were working together for Jacob’s good. Not against him.
Joseph wanted to bring his father to the land of Goshen (meaning: to draw close).

“Jacob, their father, said to them, “You have bereaved me of my children! Joseph is no more, Simeon is no more, and you want to take Benjamin away. All these things are against me.”” (Genesis‬ ‭42:36‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

God is not angry with you. In fact, you are highly favored by Him!

Romans 8:31 - God is making all things work together for your good because He is for you.
Bad things are not from Him, but He can make things work together for your good.
COVID-19 is not from God, but He is making things work together for the good of the church.

“What then shall we say about these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans‬ ‭8:31‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 4:20 - In the New Testament, the word “glory” (in Greek: doxa) is always related to having a good opinion concerning one, resulting in praise, honor and glory.
Besides that, it can also mean splendor and magnificence.

“Yet, looking to the promise of God, he didn’t waver through unbelief, but grew strong through faith, giving glory to God,” (Romans‬ ‭4:20‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 8:19-22 - God’s dream for man was for him to rule the earth and have close fellowship with God.
The earth is fallen because man sinned, and the whole world is travailing.

“For the creation waits with eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to vanity, not of its own will, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of decay into the liberty of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now.” (Romans‬ ‭8:19-22‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Genesis 3:1-3 - The serpent attacked God’s word.
The serpent wanted to make God seem stingy.
We are not ignorant of the devil's devises.
Eve dropped the word “freely”, perhaps succumbing to the serpent’s temptation.
Eve added to God’s word. God did not say that she could not touch the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

“Now the serpent was more subtle than any animal of the field which Yahweh God had made. He said to the woman, “Has God really said, ‘You shall not eat of any tree of the garden?’” The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees of the garden, but not the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden. God has said, ‘You shall not eat of it. You shall not touch it, lest you die.’”” (Genesis‬ ‭3:1-3‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Genesis 2:16-17 - God was so generous. Adam and Eve could freely eat of every tree in the garden except for one.
God wants you to enjoy the greatest pleasures. He made the taste buds and food.
God is against gluttony because it is bad for your health. Excess of food brings you to your grave sooner.

“Yahweh God commanded the man, saying, “You may freely eat of every tree of the garden; but you shall not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil; for in the day that you eat of it, you will surely die.”” (Genesis‬ ‭2:16-17‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

1 Timothy 6:17 - God is only against sin because it will destroy you.

“Charge those who are rich in this present world that they not be haughty, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on the living God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy;” (1 Timothy‬ ‭6:17‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Death is total—every living creature on earth dies.
Resurrection is overcoming the greatest limitation put upon this earth.
You are a resurrected spirit in an un-resurrected body.
When Jesus returns for us, we will receive resurrected bodies.

1 Peter 3:10 - God wants you to enjoy life here as well, not just in eternity.

“For, “He who would love life, and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit.” (1 Peter‬ ‭3:10‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Exodus 3:17 - God could have said that the land had milk and honey, but that would not suit the generous nature of God.
The land flows (gushing) with milk and honey.

“and I have said, I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, to a land flowing with milk and honey.”’” (Exodus‬ ‭3:17‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Numbers 13:27-28 - God doesn’t like murmuring because it comes from unbelief which is having a bad opinion of God.

“They told him, and said, “We came to the land where you sent us. Surely it flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit. However the people who dwell in the land are strong, and the cities are fortified and very large. Moreover, we saw the children of Anak there.” (Numbers‬ ‭13:27-28‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Numbers 14:6-9 - The word “if” actually has the meaning of “since” (certainly).
Since God delighted in the children of Israel, He would have surely brought them into the land straightaway if they had believed.

“Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, who were of those who spied out the land, tore their clothes. They spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying, “The land, which we passed through to spy it out, is an exceeding good land. If Yahweh delights in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it to us; a land which flows with milk and honey. Only don’t rebel against Yahweh, neither fear the people of the land; for they are bread for us. Their defense is removed from over them, and Yahweh is with us. Don’t fear them.”” (Numbers‬ ‭14:6-9‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 - There is bread (God’s power and grace) found in difficult situations. See these situations as bread for you to feed on.

“He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me. Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then am I strong.” (2 Corinthians‬ ‭12:9-10‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Joshua 14:11 - Caleb remained young and strong because he had a good opinion of God.

“As yet I am as strong today as I was in the day that Moses sent me. As my strength was then, even so is my strength now for war, to go out and to come in.” (Joshua‬ ‭14:11‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Numbers 14:23-24 - Caleb had faith—God calls that following Him fully.

“surely they shall not see the land which I swore to their fathers, neither shall any of those who despised me see it. But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and has followed me fully, him I will bring into the land into which he went. His offspring shall possess it.” (Numbers‬ ‭14:23-24‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Luke 1:12-15 - Zacharias and his wife became doubly barren, but God had good news for him.

“Zacharias was troubled when he saw him, and fear fell upon him. But the angel said to him, “Don’t be afraid, Zacharias, because your request has been heard, and your wife, Elizabeth, will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. You will have joy and gladness; and many will rejoice at his birth. For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and he will drink no wine nor strong drink. He will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb.” (Luke‬ ‭1:12-15‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Luke 1:18-20 - God often comes to His people will good news.
However today, a lot of people see preachers who bring good news as false prophets.
The archangel Gabriel made Zacharias mute because his words of unbelief may sabotage the result—our spoken words have the power of life and death.
When the children of Israel were marching around the walls of Jericho, Joshua instructed them to be silent, so that their words of unbelief will not sabotage their victory.

“Zacharias said to the angel, “How can I be sure of this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years.” The angel answered him, “I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God. I was sent to speak to you, and to bring you this good news. Behold, you will be silent and not able to speak, until the day that these things will happen, because you didn’t believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their proper time.”” (Luke‬ ‭1:18-20‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Luke 1:26-38 - Nazareth comes from the word “nazer” which means “shoot or stem”.
Jesus is the prophesied shoot of Jesse that springs out of the house of David, carefully cultivated by God.
Have a good opinion of God. Don’t be afraid because you have found favor with God.
Mary was asking Gabriel about the methodology, not doubting God. That’s how it is different from Zacharias’ case.

“Now in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man whose name was Joseph, of David’s house. The virgin’s name was Mary. Having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, you highly favored one! The Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women!” But when she saw him, she was greatly troubled at the saying, and considered what kind of salutation this might be. The angel said to her, “Don’t be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb, and give birth to a son, and will call his name ‘Jesus.’ He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father, David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever. There will be no end to his Kingdom.” Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, seeing I am a virgin?” The angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore also the holy one who is born from you will be called the Son of God. Behold, Elizabeth, your relative, also has conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. For nothing spoken by God is impossible.” Mary said, “Behold, the servant of the Lord; let it be done to me according to your word.” The angel departed from her.” (Luke‬ ‭1:26-38‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Ephesians 1:6 - “freely gave us favor” in Greek is charitoo means “highly favored”. The only other time this word is used in the New Testament is to describe Mary “highly favored”.
Every morning, declare to yourself that you are highly favored.

“to the praise of the glory of his grace, by which he freely gave us favor in the Beloved,” (Ephesians‬ ‭1:6‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Genesis 15:6 - The word translated as “believed” is actually Amen.
“Amen” is a declaration of faith. It means “so be it”.

“He believed in Yahweh, who credited it to him for righteousness.” (Genesis‬ ‭15:6‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Revelation 3:14 - The “Amen” is a person.

““To the angel of the assembly in Laodicea write: “The Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Head of God’s creation, says these things:” (Revelation‬ ‭3:14‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

2 Corinthians 1:17-20 - Faith does not deal with suppositions. It deals with sureties.
It is always God’s will to heal. It is not sometimes yes, sometimes no.
When you hear God’s promises, say “Amen”. You will receive the manifestation of the promise and God gets the glory through you.

“When I therefore was thus determined, did I show fickleness? Or the things that I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, that with me there should be the “Yes, yes” and the “No, no?” But as God is faithful, our word toward you was not “Yes and no.” For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, by me, Silvanus, and Timothy, was not “Yes and no,” but in him is “Yes.” For however many are the promises of God, in him is the “Yes.” Therefore also through him is the “Amen”, to the glory of God through us.” (2 Corinthians‬ ‭1:17-20‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Luke‬ ‭1:41‬ - Your words can activate a miracle in the lives of others.

“When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.” (Luke‬ ‭1:41‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Speak the language of Heaven—positive words stemming from having a good opinion of God.
When Joshua and Caleb spoke positive words, the people wanted to stone them.
Don’t worry about man’s opinions because one day they will not be around anymore and you will still remain.
We desire not to please man but to please God.

Pastor Prince released words of knowledge for healing:

A badly bruised ankle.

Someone whose ear suddenly became partially deaf when he/she woke up. That person is about to go and see a doctor about this condition.

Valve condition in the heart. The person is receiving a new valve.

Right shoulder condition. Move that shoulder.

Cataracts in right eye.

Dental filling that fell out. The person is waiting to see a doctor for it. God is sealing it with either silver or gold.
