20 September 2020 - Receive Health and Prosperity from your High Priest - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Sermon Notes

Pastor Joseph Prince taught us how to practically receive health and prosperity through the ways God has graciously provided for the church: the Lord's Supper and the tithe. Just as Melchizedek brought the bread and wine, blessing Abram, Jesus is our high priest forever in the order of Melchizedek!

The devil has come against the church prospering in all things—including financially. There is a spirit of intimidation working against the church.

Wherever the Gospel has gone, it produces health, healing, wellbeing and prosperity.

Wherever the Gospel has not reached, women are still subjugated and people are still stuck in poverty.

3 John 1:2 - Prospering in all things is not about spiritual prosperity only. Spiritual prosperity is already in the “even as your soul prospers”.
If you give to the Lord, prepare to receive more than you gave. You can count how many seeds are in an apple, but you can’t count how many apples are in a seed.

“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers.” (3 John‬ ‭1:2‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

2 Corinthians 8:9 - The context of this verse is about giving and finances.
They didn’t even give Jesus the courtesy of a loincloth. He hung there naked on the cross as the soldiers gambled for His clothes.
Jesus became poor at the cross. He wasn’t poor before that.

“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that you through his poverty might become rich.” (2 Corinthians‬ ‭8:9‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Hebrew 5:10-12 - God judges you based on how good your high priest is. As the high priest goes, so goes the nation.
Jesus is our high priest in the order of Melchizedek.
This portion of Scripture about Melchizedek is the most quoted Old Testament Scripture in the New Testament.
The Melchizedek is nothing but blessing, and blessing. There is no cursing like under the Levitical priesthood.
Jesus' priesthood also has no cursing because Jesus became a curse on the tree to redeem you from the curse!
The revelations about Melchizedek is solid food, not milk—it’s for matured Christians who are ready to receive.

“named by God a high priest after the order of Melchizedek. About him we have many words to say, and hard to interpret, seeing you have become dull of hearing. For although by this time you should be teachers, you again need to have someone teach you the rudiments of the first principles of the revelations of God. You have come to need milk, and not solid food.” (Hebrews‬ ‭5:10-12‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

The only time Melchizedek appears in the Scriptures is after Abram won a battle against four kings to rescue his nephew Lot.

Jesus' high priesthood is the same type as Melchizedek's. There is only blessing and no cursing.

The name Melchizedek means “king of righteousness” and he was the king of Salem (meaning peace).
Pastor Prince believes that Melchizedek is the pre-incarnate appearance of Christ.

Melchizedek brought bread and wine to Abram. They are a picture of the Lord’s Supper (aka Holy Communion).

Jesus was beaten and burnt just like bread, and He was crushed and spilled blood just like wine. The Lord’s Supper is a picture of Jesus’ death at the cross.

1 Corinthians 11:29-30 - If you discern the Lord’s body correctly when you partake of Holy Communion, you will receive healing and health from God. You won’t be weak, sickly or die prematurely.

“For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy way eats and drinks judgment to himself, if he doesn’t discern the Lord’s body. For this cause many among you are weak and sickly, and not a few sleep.” (1 Corinthians‬ ‭11:29-30‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

The way the animals were slain for temple sacrifices was humane. They died with minimal pain. However, Jesus was tortured before He died.

Psalm 105:37 - If the shadow could do that for the children of Israel, imagine what it can accomplish for us when we have the substance (“take eat, this is My body”).

“He brought them out with silver and gold. There was not one feeble person among his tribes.” (Psalms‬ ‭105:37‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

1 Corinthians 11:26 - We can partake of the Holy Communion as often as we want, even at home. It is a proclamation of Jesus’ death.
We will partake of it until Jesus’ return, and He is returning soon!
When you partake of Holy Communion, visualize Jesus bringing the elements to you so that you’re receiving it from Him in a fresh way and not doing it legalistically.

“For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.” (1 Corinthians‬ ‭11:26‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Genesis 14:18-23 - There is no curse in the Melchizedek priesthood, only blessings.
Melchizedek’s priesthood is about blessing God and blessing man.
God is “El Elyon” who is the possessor of Heaven and earth.
Abram tithed to Melchizedek out of a revelation—he wasn’t forced to tithe.
We are not lucky people, we are blessed people.
We don’t want to be poor people having only lots of money, we want to be rich in every way.
The Hebrew word for tithe is “maaser” and the Hebrew word for rich is “aser”. The word rich is in the tithe.
The king of Sodom is a picture of the devil. The devil only wants souls, not money.
Abram had a revelation that he would become rich through God.

“Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine: and he was priest of God Most High. He blessed him, and said, “Blessed be Abram of God Most High, possessor of heaven and earth: and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” Abram gave him a tenth of all. The king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give me the people, and take the goods for yourself.” Abram said to the king of Sodom, “I have lifted up my hand to Yahweh, God Most High, possessor of heaven and earth, that I will not take a thread nor a sandal strap nor anything that is yours, lest you should say, ‘I have made Abram rich.’” (Genesis‬ ‭14:18-23‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Hebrews 7:4 - We don’t tithe to become rich, but it would be a lie to say that you won’t prosper by tithing.
We demonstrate who is great in our lives by tithing—to declare that Jesus is the source of our blessings.

“Now consider how great this man was, to whom even Abraham, the patriarch, gave a tenth out of the best plunder.” (Hebrews‬ ‭7:4‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Hebrews 7:8 - At that time, the temple in Jerusalem wasn’t burnt down by the Romans yet.
Here (on earth) the priests were still receiving tithes, but there (in Heaven) Jesus is the one receiving the tithes.
When you tithe, there will be evidence that Jesus is alive in your life.
The word “receives” in the verse below is in the present continuous tense. Jesus is still receiving your tithes.

“Here people who die receive tithes, but there one receives tithes of whom it is testified that he lives.” (Hebrews‬ ‭7:8‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Genesis 45:26-28 - Joseph’s life is a clear type of the life of Jesus Christ.
When Jacob saw the wagons full of blessings, he believed that his son was alive.
When people see the visible blessings of God in your life, they will believe that Jesus is alive.

“They told him, saying, “Joseph is still alive, and he is ruler over all the land of Egypt.” His heart fainted, for he didn’t believe them. They told him all the words of Joseph, which he had said to them. When he saw the wagons which Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of Jacob, their father, revived. Israel said, “It is enough. Joseph my son is still alive. I will go and see him before I die.”” (Genesis‬ ‭45:26-28‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

“I never would have been able to tithe one million dollars if I had not tithed the first salary I ever made which was $1.50 per week.” - John D. Rockerfeller (one of the richest men that ever lived).

Hebrews‬ ‭7:9-10‬ - When you tithe, your descendants also experience the benefits of generational blessings. You’re blessing your children and your children’s children by tithing.

“We can say that through Abraham even Levi, who receives tithes, has paid tithes, for he was yet in the body of his father when Melchizedek met him.” (Hebrews‬ ‭7:9-10‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

It’s okay to eat healthy and do exercise, but creation has fallen. Put your trust in redemption, not in creation.

Man fell because of eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. You can also eat your way out of the effects of the fall by the simple act of eating (the Holy Communion).
