19 September 2021 - Triumph Over Difficult Seasons - New Creation Church Sermon Notes - Pastor Lawrence Lim

New Sermon Notes: Pastor Lawrence Lim taught us three important keys that help us to triumph over difficult seasons in life. No matter how dark the night may seem, dawn is coming, and your breakthrough is on the way!

Matthew 8:1-4 - One touch from God and your life will never be the same again.
Our God is a healing God. He is our great physician—Yahweh Rapha.
Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. His will is always to heal.
Leprosy was a dreaded disease. Jesus did not just heal the leper of the disease—He also healed the man’s emotions.
It must have been a long time since the leper felt any human touch. Lepers were outcasts who were forbidden to come close to anyone who was not infected.

“When he came down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. Behold, a leper came to him and worshiped him, saying, “Lord, if you want to, you can make me clean.” Jesus stretched out his hand, and touched him, saying, “I want to. Be made clean.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed. Jesus said to him, “See that you tell nobody, but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”” (Matthew‬ ‭8:1-4‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Matthew 18:20 - Jesus is here to meet you at the point of your need.
He has the power to heal you and make you whole.

“For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the middle of them.”” (Matthew‬ ‭18:20‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

We will inevitably go through difficult seasons, “the evil day”, in our lives. We can triumph over difficult seasons.

You cannot pray for God to ‘take you home’ when it is God’s will for you to live.

Romans 10:11 - Hold on to this verse in difficult seasons.

“For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in him will not be disappointed.”” (Romans‬ ‭10:11‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Hebrews 6:12 - There are moments where our faith is challenged. This is the time to have patience.
Never give up. Before the dawn, the night is dark. Your miracle is coming.

“that you won’t be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and perseverance inherited the promises.” (Hebrews‬ ‭6:12‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Mark 4:5-17 - In Jesus’ parable of the sower, the seeds that were sown on stony ground could only endure for a short time.
The devil’s plan is to steal God’s word from your heart because he knows that God’s word will blossom and bear fruit.
When you start to hear and believe God’s word for a certain area in your life, you may face counterattacks which are the devil’s plan to steal that word from your heart.
What do you do when such persecutions arise for the word’s sake? Never give up. Keep believing in it and be patient.

“The ones by the road are the ones where the word is sown; and when they have heard, immediately Satan comes, and takes away the word which has been sown in them. These in the same way are those who are sown on the rocky places, who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with joy. They have no root in themselves, but are short-lived. When oppression or persecution arises because of the word, immediately they stumble.” (Mark‬ ‭4:15-17‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

John 10:10 - Jesus loves you. He will give you life so that you can have it abundantly.

“The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.” (John‬ ‭10:10-11‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

God is not a respecter of persons. If He can heal someone, He can heal you too.

Never give up or lose hope. It is well with your soul!

Romans 8:28 - Even if the devil does something evil to harm you, God can turn it around for your good.

“We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.” (Romans‬ ‭8:28‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Psalm 118:1 - Even if your situation is not good, you can still praise God because He is always good. He will turn things around for your good.

“Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, for his loving kindness endures forever.” (Psalms‬ ‭118:1‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 8:37 - No matter what, you win. You are loved by God.

“No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” (Romans‬ ‭8:37‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 5:3-5 - Believers can rejoice in sufferings because they produce perseverance, proven character, and hope in us. Good things come out of them.

“Not only this, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope: and hope doesn’t disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” (Romans‬ ‭5:3-5‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Hebrews 11:1 - In order to have faith, you must first have hope.
Our God is a God of hope. He wants us to be children of hope, all the days of our lives.

“Now faith is assurance of things hoped for, proof of things not seen.” (Hebrews‬ ‭11:1‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 15:12-13 - God wants you to abound in hope, to have confident expectation of good things.
You can always expect the best in every situation. Today, expect great things from God!
If your hope is feeling dead, then it is time to listen to messages that inspire you to have hope again.
In the midst of a dark season, never lose hope.
We have a living hope: our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

“Again, Isaiah says, “There will be the root of Jesse, he who arises to rule over the Gentiles; in him the Gentiles will hope.” Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope, in the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Romans‬ ‭15:12-13‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Horatio Spafford wrote the famous hymn “It Is Well With My Soul” after he lost all his real estate investments in Chicago and all his four daughters died in an accident at sea.

No matter what comes your way, there is one thing you can always rejoice in: your sins are forgiven. The precious blood of the Lamb of God has washed you clean. God is for you, not against you.

At the cross, Jesus became sin so that you would be forgiven. Jesus became accursed so that you might be blessed. Jesus was made poor, so that you would be rich.

Psalm 91:3 - No deadly pestilence will come near you.

“For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler, and from the deadly pestilence.” (Psalms‬ ‭91:3‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Nehemiah 9:17 -God is so good to us even when we are not. In the children of Israel’s disobedience, God revealed to them that He is a God who is ready to forgive.
There is no sinner that God does not love.
When you have grace and mercy, you are blessed! You get the good things you do not deserve, and you do not receive the punishments that you deserve.
God is slow to anger and patient with you.
Be patient with yourself. Remember the cross: God has already judged your sins in Jesus’ body.
God has made you the righteousness of God in Christ.

“and refused to obey. They weren’t mindful of your wonders that you did among them, but hardened their neck, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage. But you are a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness, and didn’t forsake them.” (Nehemiah‬ ‭9:17‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Nehemiah 9:18-21 - The children of Israel failed so many times, and yet God did not abandon them.
God has manifold mercies—even if you failed Him so many times, He will never leave nor forsake you.
God supernaturally provided the children of Israel with health and provision. This is what He does for His people.
When you know that God loves you, you will live a life that glorifies Him.

“Yes, when they had made themselves a molten calf, and said, ‘This is your God who brought you up out of Egypt,’ and had committed awful blasphemies; yet you in your manifold mercies didn’t forsake them in the wilderness. The pillar of cloud didn’t depart from over them by day, to lead them in the way; neither did the pillar of fire by night, to show them light, and the way in which they should go. You gave also your good Spirit to instruct them, and didn’t withhold your manna from their mouth, and gave them water for their thirst. “Yes, forty years you sustained them in the wilderness. They lacked nothing. Their clothes didn’t grow old, and their feet didn’t swell.” (Nehemiah‬ ‭9:18-21‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Matthew 1:20-21 - The name “Jesus” means “Yahweh is Salvation”.
Jesus came to save you from your sins. How can your sins separate you from Him today?
Let Him save you and let His love overwhelm your heart.
Sin shall not have dominion over you because you are not under the Law but under Grace.

“But when he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, don’t be afraid to take to yourself Mary, your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. She shall give birth to a son. You shall call his name Jesus, for it is he who shall save his people from their sins.”” (Matthew‬ ‭1:20-21‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

In difficult seasons, remember these three keys: 1) Never give up, 2) Never lose hope, 3) It is well with your soul because your sins are forgiven.
