16 May 2021 - The Power of Association - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Sermon Notes

Pastor Joseph Prince taught that there yet remains much inheritance in Christ to be possessed. By associating ourselves with Jesus alone, we can partake of what He deserves—every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.

We must not take protection for granted. It is a great blessing to have people who are praying for you.

Psalm 91:1 - 911 is the emergency call number in the US. We need to live in the promises of Psalm 91.

“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” (Psalms‬ ‭91:1‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Psalm 90:10 - This is for the natural people of Israel.

“The days of our years are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty years; yet their pride is but labor and sorrow, for it passes quickly, and we fly away.” (Psalms‬ ‭90:10‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Psalm 91:16 - This promise of long life without measure is for God’s people. The word translation as “salvation” is Yeshua in the Hebrew which is Jesus’ name.

“I will satisfy him with long life, and show him my salvation.”” (Psalms‬ ‭91:16‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Proverbs 2:6 - Every time we go into God’s word, we are searching out God’s wisdom, receiving the ‘now-word’ for us. God can make the written word, the living word.

“For Yahweh gives wisdom. Out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding.” (Proverbs‬ ‭2:6‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

1 Corinthians 10:11 - The things that happened to the Old Testament people are written as types, for our admonition. Even the names of the people have meanings.

“Now all these things happened to them by way of example, and they were written for our admonition, on whom the ends of the ages have come.” (1 Corinthians‬ ‭10:11‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

There is yet much more land to be possessed, and God wants to give us the secret to possessing our possessions.

Joshua 15:16-19 - Kirjath Sepher means “city of the book”.
Achsah (anklet), Othniel (lion of God). The anklet represents possessing possessions by treading on the land.
Achsah was Caleb’s daughter. Caleb was full of faith. At 85 years old, he did not even age since he was 40. Caleb conquered Hebron and took it as a possession.
Caleb might have told many stories and spoken of his faith to his daughter Achsah, causing her to become a bold woman.
Share your faith with your children on a daily basis. Keep giving them a taste of God’s things from birth.

“Caleb said, “He who strikes Kiriath Sepher, and takes it, to him I will give Achsah my daughter as wife.” Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, took it: and he gave him Achsah his daughter as wife. When she came, she had him ask her father for a field. She got off of her donkey, and Caleb said, “What do you want?” She said, “Give me a blessing. Because you have set me in the land of the South, give me also springs of water.” So he gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.” (Joshua‬ ‭15:16-19‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Revelation 5:2 - Jesus conquered the city of the book—He took the book from the Father and loosed its seals.

“I saw a mighty angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the book, and to break its seals?” (Revelation‬ ‭5:2‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Joshua 15:15 - Debir means “spoken word”. We need to be filled with the written word so that we have the spoken word.

“He went up against the inhabitants of Debir: now the name of Debir before was Kiriath Sepher.” (Joshua‬ ‭15:15‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Jesus associated Himself with us at the cross so that we can associate with Him now and receive every blessing!

Joshua 15:19 - Achsah was never afraid to ask for an inheritance. She had a spirit of sonship and did not feel like she was imposing on her father or asking too much.
The upper springs are a picture of the Holy Spirit coming upon us to fulfill a purpose. After He is done, the power lifts and is gone.
The lower springs are a picture of the Holy Spirit indwelling you. This anointing abides in you forever, guiding you daily.
Ask for both the upper springs and lower springs to work through you for effective ministry.

“She said, “Give me a blessing. Because you have set me in the land of the South, give me also springs of water.” So he gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.” (Joshua‬ ‭15:19‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Judges 14:6 - The Holy Spirit came upon Samson to accomplish His purpose.

“Yahweh’s Spirit came mightily on him, and he tore him as he would have torn a young goat; and he had nothing in his hand, but he didn’t tell his father or his mother what he had done.” (Judges‬ ‭14:6‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Acts 6:10 - Sometimes you do not premeditate what to say, but God gives you words to speak—wisdom that no one can withstand.

“They weren’t able to withstand the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke.” (Acts‬ ‭6:10‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Joshua 13:1-3 - There still remains much land to possess. These words are ringing in Pastor Prince’s spirit.
It is one thing to have access to blessings, and another thing to actually enjoy them.
Philistine means “wallowing in dust”. The name is a picture of condemning oneself.
The name David means “beloved”. It takes something who knows that he is loved to defeat a Philistine. Goliath means “to strip”.
Goliath was from Gath (winepress - a picture of God’s judgment). David defeated Goliath (love conquered the enemy who was stripped by God’s judgment).
The name Geshurite means “proud beholder”. This is a picture of looking at yourself, thinking you are better than others.
Such people compare themselves with others to make themselves feel better about themselves.
If you are wallowing in condemnation, start looking to Jesus and you will be transformed by beholding Him.
When you operate by the anointing, it is like oiling a door so that it opens smoothly with no creaks. The anointing enables a supernatural ease.
Sihor means “darkness” and Egypt (Mitsrayim) means “double stress”. The enemy wants you trapped in the darkness of double stress.
Stress is the reason for many health conditions.

“Now Joshua was old and well advanced in years. Yahweh said to him, “You are old and advanced in years, and there remains yet very much land to be possessed. “This is the land that still remains: all the regions of the Philistines, and all the Geshurites; from the Shihor, which is before Egypt, even to the border of Ekron northward, which is counted as Canaanite; the five lords of the Philistines; the Gazites, and the Ashdodites, the Ashkelonites, the Gittites, and the Ekronites; also the Avvim,” (Joshua‬ ‭13:1-3‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Ephesians 1:3 - The blessings are in the heavenly places.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ;” (Ephesians‬ ‭1:3‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Ephesians 6:12 - The demons attack where the blessings are—the “heavenly places”. Demons will not allow you to enjoy God’s blessings with ease.

“For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians‬ ‭6:12‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

God wants to turn all difficulties into something good for you.

Ephesians 6:16 - Our shield quenches all the fiery darts of the enemy.

“above all, taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one.” (Ephesians‬ ‭6:16‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Ephesians 6:17 - We have the sword of the Spirit for offensive spiritual warfare against the enemy.

“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;” (Ephesians‬ ‭6:17‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Hosea 2:15 - Achor means “trouble”. In your valley of trouble, look for a door of hope.

“I will give her vineyards from there, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope; and she will respond there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.” (Hosea‬ ‭2:15‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

1 Corinthians 10:13 - God will not allow you to be tested beyond what you are able. With the testing, God will also make a way of escape—a door of hope.

“No trial has overtaken you that is not faced by others. And God is faithful: He will not let you be tried beyond what you are able to bear, but with the trial will also provide a way out so that you may be able to endure it.” (1 Corinthians‬ ‭10:13‬ ‭NET‬‬)

The Old Testament is the type and the New Testament is the substance. Moses’ bronze serpent on a pole is a type of Jesus Christ on the cross.

Luke 24:27 - The Old Testament is the New Testament concealed, whereas the New Testament is the Old Testament revealed.
The Old Testament gives us details, whereas in the New Testament we get the broad truths.

“Beginning from Moses and from all the prophets, he explained to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.” (Luke‬ ‭24:27‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Colossians 2:15 - At the cross, Jesus stripped the devil of his real power. The only weapon the devil has against us today is deception.

“having stripped the principalities and the powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.” (Colossians‬ ‭2:15‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Proverbs 18:21 - The devil programs men to use the power of their spoken words against themselves, to inflict death.

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue; those who love it will eat its fruit.” (‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭18:21‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

When you condemn yourself you are not looking to the Lord because Jesus is your righteousness. As He is, so are we in this world.

The devil wants you self-focused whereas the Holy Spirit wants you Christ-focused.

2 Corinthians 3:18 - Our good works and morality are important, but all that comes by beholding Jesus—not by self efforts. As we behold Him, we are transformed from glory to glory.

“But we all, with unveiled face seeing the glory of the Lord as in a mirror, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord, the Spirit.” (2 Corinthians‬ ‭3:18‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

1 Corinthians 12:20-26 - All believers need one another. Everyone has their own role. There is no need to feel bad about oneself or feel that you are better than others.

“But now they are many members, but one body. The eye can’t tell the hand, “I have no need for you,” or again the head to the feet, “I have no need for you.” No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary. Those parts of the body which we think to be less honorable, on those we bestow more abundant honor; and our unpresentable parts have more abundant propriety; whereas our presentable parts have no such need. But God composed the body together, giving more abundant honor to the inferior part, that there should be no division in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another. When one member suffers, all the members suffer with it. Or when one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.” (1 Corinthians‬ ‭12:20-26‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Joshua 14:10-11 - Caleb was supernaturally kept young. There was no diminishing of strength.
However, in the previous chapter, God told Joshua that he was old and advanced in years.
The Holy Spirit put chapters about these two men side by side for a comparative purpose.
Joshua was a man of war who probably aged due to stress. Caleb was a man of faith.

““Now, behold, Yahweh has kept me alive, as he spoke, these forty-five years, from the time that Yahweh spoke this word to Moses, while Israel walked in the wilderness. Now, behold, I am eighty-five years old, today. As yet I am as strong today as I was in the day that Moses sent me. As my strength was then, even so is my strength now for war, to go out and to come in.” (Joshua‬ ‭14:10-11‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Numbers 14:7 - In the Hebrew, there is a double “very”. Canaan is a very very good land. We must have a good opinion of God and His word. God's word is a very very good book. There remains much more inheritance to possess.

“They spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying, “The land, which we passed through to spy it out, is an exceeding good land.” (Numbers‬ ‭14:7‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Numbers 14:9 - Joshua and Caleb saw the Anakim giants as bread.
Caleb was a person who saw difficulties as bread that strengthened him.
See your difficulties as bread to strengthen you and keep you young.

“Only don’t rebel against Yahweh, neither fear the people of the land; for they are bread for us. Their defense is removed from over them, and Yahweh is with us. Don’t fear them.”” (Numbers‬ ‭14:9‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 5:3 - Sufferings are your bread.

“Not only this, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces perseverance;” (Romans‬ ‭5:3‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

2 Corinthians 12:5, 10 - You do not learn anything when things are easy. But you grow through difficulties.

“On behalf of such a one I will boast, but on my own behalf I will not boast, except in my weaknesses…Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then am I strong.” (2 Corinthians‬ ‭12:5, 10‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Joshua 14:13-15 - Caleb was a man who gladly welcomed difficulties. Of all cities, he chose to conquer Kirjath Arba which was ruled by the greatest of the giants called “Arba”.
Hebron comes from the word “havar” which means “association” or “alliance”.

“Joshua blessed him; and he gave Hebron to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for an inheritance. Therefore Hebron became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day, because he followed Yahweh, the God of Israel wholeheartedly. Now the name of Hebron before was Kiriath Arba, after the greatest man among the Anakim. Then the land had rest from war.” (Joshua‬ ‭14:13-15‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Isaiah 53:5 - The word translated as “stripes” or “wounds” in Hebrew is “habura” (association). At the cross, Jesus became associated with you, becoming sin, so that you could become the righteousness of God.

“But he was pierced for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought our peace was on him; and by his wounds we are healed.” (Isaiah‬ ‭53:5‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

2 Chronicles 18:1 - Jehoshaphat was a godly king. He was blessed with much abundance, but he made a bad alliance.

“Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honor in abundance; and he allied himself with Ahab.” (2 Chronicles‬ ‭18:1‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

2 Chronicles 18:3 - Jehoshaphat identified himself with the wicked king Ahab.

“Ahab king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, “Will you go with me to Ramoth Gilead?” He answered him, “I am as you are, and my people as your people. We will be with you in the war.”” (2 Chronicles‬ ‭18:3‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

1 John 4:17 - We should only identify with Christ.
Remember these nine monosyllables: as He is, so are we in this world.
“As He is” means as the risen and glorified Christ is. Not just the Jesus that walked on earth.
Whoever you identify with, you experience the same result as.

“In this love has been made perfect among us, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment, because as he is, even so are we in this world.” (1 John‬ ‭4:17‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Ephesians 5:30 - As Jesus is, so are we. Not just in a spiritual sense, but also in a physical sense. Our body is young, healthy, whole, and strong like Jesus.

“because we are members of his body, of his flesh and bones.” (Ephesians‬ ‭5:30‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

2 Chronicles 18:30-34 - Jehoshaphat almost died because he associated himself with Ahab by saying “I am as you are”.
Whoever you identify with, you will partake the same fate as.

“Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of his chariots, saying, “Don’t fight with small nor great, except only with the king of Israel.” When the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, they said, “It is the king of Israel!” Therefore they turned around to fight against him. But Jehoshaphat cried out, and Yahweh helped him; and God moved them to depart from him. When the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, they turned back from pursuing him. A certain man drew his bow at random, and struck the king of Israel between the joints of the armor. Therefore he said to the driver of the chariot, “Turn your hand, and carry me out of the army; for I am severely wounded.” The battle increased that day. However the king of Israel propped himself up in his chariot against the Syrians until the evening; and at about sunset, he died.” (2 Chronicles‬ ‭18:30-34‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

2 Chronicles 20:35-37 - Jehoshaphat did not learn from his mistake of identifying with the wicked. Jehoshaphat joined himself with the wicked Ahaziah and ended up losing all his ships that were sent to Tarshish.

“After this, Jehoshaphat king of Judah joined himself with Ahaziah king of Israel. The same did very wickedly. He joined himself with him to make ships to go to Tarshish. They made the ships in Ezion Geber. Then Eliezer the son of Dodavahu of Mareshah prophesied against Jehoshaphat, saying, “Because you have joined yourself with Ahaziah, Yahweh has destroyed your works.” The ships were wrecked, so that they were not able to go to Tarshish.” (2 Chronicles‬ ‭20:35-37‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Hebrews 2:15 - Jesus delivered us by identifying with us at the cross. We have communion with Him because we are identified with Him now.
Be careful of what and who you associate with.

“and might deliver all of them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” (Hebrews‬ ‭2:15‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

When God restores, He adds His shalom (all-encompassing prosperity), to that area of loss. No matter how you have lost, you will become a gainer through God’s restoration. As you receive wave after wave of restoration, you will prosper and eventually become very prosperous. This revelation is what inspired this book. At that time, the Holy Spirit said that God wants to prosper us in all things through His restoration. He is putting what is broken and missing back to their ideal places in your life. God will rearrange things for your good.

After you overcome each challenge, God does not leave you as broken pieces. He restores you by putting you back together and sealing the cracks with gold—the workings of His Grace. You become more precious and valuable than if you did not go through hardships.

The Japanese art of Kintsugi is a perfect illustration of this. The practitioner takes a broken earthen vessel, assembles the pieces, and literally seals the cracks with gold. It is restored as a beautiful art piece, more valuable than before it was broken.
