4 April 2021 - The Resurrection Declares You Righteous - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Sermon Notes

Jesus has been raised from the dead and He is now seated far above all principalities and powers. The Bible says that we who believe in Him have been raised with Him and are now seated in Heaven as joint-heirs with Him.

The resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ is more important than Christmas. It ends the old order of creation (sons of Adam) and marks the beginning of a new creation in Christ.

Romans 4:25 - Jesus was raised from the dead, which tells us that we have been justified.

“who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification.” (Romans‬ ‭4:25‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

John 3:3 - All believers have gone through a spiritual rebirth.

“Jesus answered him, “Most certainly, I tell you, unless one is born anew, he can’t see God’s Kingdom.”” (John‬ ‭3:3‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

John 3:16 - God loves the whole world so much that He gave us Jesus as the payment for all our sins.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.” (John‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 6:23 - Not just physical death, but also spiritual death: being cast into everlasting fire which the Bible calls “the second death”—forever separated from God.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans‬ ‭6:23‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

2 Peter 3:9 - God’s heart is for all to be saved. He does not want any to perish and be eternally separated from Him.

“The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” (2 Peter‬ ‭3:9‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Why didn’t God just stop man from sinning? When you create someone with free choice, you must give him the right to exercise that free choice.

The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil was an option for man to choose. Free choice would be a farce if there was no option to exercise the free choice.

Adam chose to eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. God had already told Adam about the consequences of eating from that tree.

The curse came upon this world because of sin and that’s why we see sickness and death today.

1 Corinthians 15:26 - God calls death an enemy.

“The last enemy that will be abolished is death.” (1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:26‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Man was separated from God because of sin.

Genesis 3:15 - Jesus crushed the serpent’s (Satan) head at the cross.

“I will put hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will bruise your head, and you will bruise his heel.”” (Genesis‬ ‭3:15‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

We have been raised with Christ and are now seated with Him. Remain in this victory posture of rest!

Romans 4:25 - At the cross, we see God’s holiness. He punished our sins in Jesus’ body.
God hates sin but He loves us. Sin is like a cancer in the body of a loved one. How much do you hate the cancer? It depends on how much you love the person.
God raised Jesus from the dead because we have been declared righteous. Jesus rose without our sins and curse. Those were all left behind and put away.

“who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification.” (Romans‬ ‭4:25‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

When it was noon, which was suppose to be the brightest time of the day, it became as dark as midnight. Darkness covered the whole land as Jesus suffered the punishment for our sins. Jesus suffered the punishment so that we can always walk in the light.

Romans 3:23 - We can only be righteous if we are as perfect as God. We cannot ever attain this standard by our works.

“for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God;” (Romans‬ ‭3:23‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

1 Corinthians 15:17 - Jesus was raised from the dead so we know for sure that our sins have been totally put away.

“If Christ has not been raised, your faith is vain; you are still in your sins.” (1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:17‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 5:1 - Now that we have been declared righteous, we have peace with God.

“Being therefore justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ;” (Romans‬ ‭5:1‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Psalm 14:1 - Only a fool thinks that there is no God.

“The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt. They have done abominable deeds. There is no one who does good.” (Psalms‬ ‭14:1‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

If God doesn’t prevent something bad from happening to us, He will allow us to go through it with His help and emerge with a testimony.

Romans 5:2 - We are standing on favor-ground because Christ has paid for all our sins and we have become righteous through faith in Him.
We are not just saved in name, but we can already enjoy God’s favor in this lifetime.

“through whom we also have our access by faith into this grace in which we stand. We rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” (Romans‬ ‭5:2‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

God’s favor can be enjoyed in daily life. It is practical and beneficial.

Psalm 91:11, 16 - God’s angels protect us in all our ways and we can enjoy long life here in this lifetime. Believe and confess it.

“For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways...I will satisfy him with long life, and show him my salvation.”” (Psalms‬ ‭91:11, 16‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

2 Corinthians 5:19-21 - In Christ, we have become the righteousness of God—as righteous as God is.

“namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not reckoning to them their trespasses, and having committed to us the word of reconciliation. We are therefore ambassadors on behalf of Christ, as though God were entreating by us: we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For him who knew no sin he made to be sin on our behalf; so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:19-21‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Acts 10:38 - When He was walking on earth, Jesus dispensed His healings and miracles freely. God always exceeds your prayer requests. He multiplied five loaves of bread and two fishes to feed thousands of people.

“even Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.” (Acts‬ ‭10:38‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Our posture under the New Covenant of Grace is to rest and believe.
Our flesh always wants to earn and deserve good things, but that does not glorify God.

2 Kings 4:2 - It is not about what you have in your house, but what God can do with what you have.
The woman kept on pouring from the pot of oil into all the empty vessels she gathered and the oil never ran out from the original pot of oil.
When the world pours, they get depleted. But because we believers are on favor-ground, we will never be depleted. In fact, we receive more from giving.
The oil stopped not depending on the vessels, but based on the one pouring. When the person says/thinks it’s enough, then the supply stopped.

“Elisha said to her, “What should I do for you? Tell me: what do you have in the house?” She said, “Your servant has nothing in the house, except a pot of oil.”” (2 Kings‬ ‭4:2‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Exodus 4:2 - Moses had a rod in his hand and God did miracles through that rod.

“Yahweh said to him, “What is that in your hand?” He said, “A rod.”” (Exodus‬ ‭4:2‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

2 Kings‬ ‭13:18-19 - Keep striking in faith through prayer and don’t give up until you see the complete victory.

“He said, “Take the arrows”; and he took them. He said to the king of Israel, “Strike the ground”; and he struck three times, and stopped. The man of God was angry with him, and said, “You should have struck five or six times. Then you would have struck Syria until you had consumed it; whereas now you will strike Syria just three times.”” (2 Kings‬ ‭13:18-19‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Ephesians 1:17-21 - God told Pastor Prince to ask the church to pray this prayer every day this year.
God wants us to know all these things: our calling, the inheritance we have, and the resurrection power of God.

“that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him; having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to that working of the strength of his might which he worked in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and made him to sit at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule, and authority, and power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in that which is to come.” (Ephesians‬ ‭1:17-21‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

2 Corinthians 5:17 - We have been raised with Christ and are now seated with Him as new creations.

“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.” (2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:17‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Hebrews 10:13 - This is the victory posture. Sitting and believing that the victory has been won at the cross.

“from that time waiting until his enemies are made the footstool of his feet.” (Hebrews‬ ‭10:13‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Ephesians 1:22 - We are seated far above all our troubles. No one sees reality as clearly like God does.
God made Jesus the head over all things for the church’s sake. It is for our benefit.
The church is not a physical building—it is the most successful organization in the universe, consisting of God’s people.
The devil has painted a picture of church being a boring place that only old people go to. This is a lie.

“He put all things in subjection under his feet, and gave him to be head over all things for the assembly,” (Ephesians‬ ‭1:22‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Matthew 28:18 - If Jesus has all power then the devil has none.

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.” (Matthew‬ ‭28:18‬ ‭KJV‬‬)

Romans 12:18 - God wants you to enjoy peace, not just with Him, but also with all men, as much as possible.

“If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men.” (Romans‬ ‭12:18‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 8:17 - The Bible is like a photo album of our Lord Jesus Christ. When we see what Christ has, we have faith to appropriate what He has. We are heirs with Christ, not just heirs-apparent (next in line to succeed the throne but not there to enjoy the full privileges yet).

“and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ; if indeed we suffer with him, that we may also be glorified with him.” (Romans‬ ‭8:17‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Philippians 3:9-10 - We don’t have a righteousness of our own, but our righteousness is from Jesus.
We can only receive this gift of righteousness through faith in Jesus.

“and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own, that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, becoming conformed to his death;” (Philippians‬ ‭3:9-10‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

2 Corinthians 5:21 - All our sins were transferred to Jesus at the cross and all the good things that Jesus deserves were transferred to us at the cross. It was a divine exchange.

“For him who knew no sin he made to be sin on our behalf; so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:21‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Ephesians 1:3 - We are already blessed with every blessing.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ;” (Ephesians‬ ‭1:3‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Nothing besides Jesus makes us favored by God. Our works, Bible reading, and prayers don’t increase our favor. We are favored because of Jesus and His finished work at the cross.

Hebrews 8:12 - God promised to never remember our sins anymore. He is not counting our sins against us; we have been fully forgiven.

“For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness. I will remember their sins and lawless deeds no more.”” (Hebrews‬ ‭8:12‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Hebrews 8:10 - When God says that He will be our God, it means that He will supply His miracle-working power to help us.

““For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel. After those days,” says the Lord; “I will put my laws into their mind, I will also write them on their heart. I will be their God, and they will be my people.” (Hebrews‬ ‭8:10‬ ‭WEB‬‬)
