25 April 2021 - Be Restored and Freed From Guilt - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Sermon Notes

Pastor Joseph Prince taught that guilt cannot be in two places at once. It is either on you, or on Jesus. Will you receive the guilt and pay for it yourself by experiencing the consequences of sin, or will you look to Jesus at the cross as your guilt offering and receive at least one hundred twenty percent of restoration? You can choose!

God had anger and wrath, but He has exhausted them all on Jesus’ body at the cross. He had no anger or wrath towards believers today. We are made righteous according to His righteousness, not just by His mercy,

Romans 1:16 - The word “salvation” in the verse in the Greek is “soteria” which means salvation from everything that is evil or adverse. It is not just limited to salvation from Hell.
God saved us perfectly in our spirit, and He continues to save us in our body and soul.

“For I am not ashamed of the Good News of Christ, for it is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes; for the Jew first, and also for the Greek.” (Romans‬ ‭1:16‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Mark 5:34 - The word “saved” here is “sozo” in Greek, which is the root word of “soteria”.

“and he said to her, ‘Daughter, thy faith hath saved thee; go away in peace, and be whole from thy plague.’” (Mark‬ ‭5:34‬ ‭YLT98‬‬)

2 Corinthians 5:21 - Jesus did not sin, but He was made sin at the cross, so that we might be made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
This is the divine exchange. He who knew no sin took all our sins so that we who knew no righteousness could be made the righteousness of God in Christ.

“For him who knew no sin he made to be sin on our behalf; so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:21‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 14:24 - Paul called the Gospel “my gospel” because Jesus revealed it directly to him.

“Now to him who is able to establish you according to my Good News and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery which has been kept secret through long ages,” (Romans‬ ‭14:24‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 1:17 - You cannot earn righteousness. You can only receive it through faith.

“For in it is revealed God’s righteousness from faith to faith. As it is written, “But the righteous shall live by faith.”” (Romans‬ ‭1:17‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 5:17 - Righteousness is a gift. We will reign in life here on earth, and not just in the afterlife.
When you receive the gift of righteousness, you have to let it affect your emotions as well. You have to meditate on it until you even feel righteous.

“For if by the trespass of the one, death reigned through the one; so much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, Jesus Christ.” (Romans‬ ‭5:17‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

The best way to break free from a bondage is to confess, “I am the righteousness of God in Christ,” even in the midst of your sin.
True holiness is not about stopping something by willpower but still craving to do it in your heart.
True deliverance is when you have no more desire to go back to sins.

John 8:32 - God’s truth is beyond the temporal facts. Truth will outlast the facts, and has the power to change the facts.

“You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”” (John‬ ‭8:32‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Pastor Joseph Prince taught that guilt cannot be in two places at once. It is either on you, or on Jesus. At the cross, Jesus became your guilt offering so that you can receive one hundred and twenty percent restoration for your losses

Romans 4:25 - If our sins were not put away, Jesus would not have been raised from the dead.

“who was delivered up for our trespasses, and was raised for our justification. Being therefore justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ; through whom we also have our access by faith into this grace in which we stand. We rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” (Romans‬ ‭5:1-2‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

2 Corinthians 5:17 - Jesus came not just to represent God to man, but also to represent man before God.
Jesus is the federal head of the new creation.
Whatever happens to the federal head affects all of his subordinates.
When Adam sinned, the whole earth fell with him.

“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.” (2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:17‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 5:19 - We were made righteous through Christ’s obedience, not our own obedience.

“For as through the one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the one, many will be made righteous.” Romans‬ ‭5:19‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

2 Corinthians 10:5 - This is spiritual warfare. We bring all thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ—not to obey Christ.
Satan’s title is Ha-Satan which is a legal title meaning “the accuser”. What he does is to point out the bad things about you.

“throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ;” (2 Corinthians‬ ‭10:5‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 8:1 - The Greek words for no here is “ou dice” which means not at all. There is now no condemnation at all for us who are in Christ.
Many people are still receiving condemnation upon themselves.
When you see “Christ Jesus” instead of “Jesus Christ”, it refers to the glorified Christ that is now in Heaven at the Father’s right hand.

“Therefore there is now no condemnation at all for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans‬ ‭8:1‬ ‭NASB2020‬‬)

Romans 6:6 - God put our “old man” (the old nature) there with Jesus at the cross. When Jesus rose from the dead, we rose with Him from the dead.

“knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be in bondage to sin.” (Romans‬ ‭6:6‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Hebrews 1:3 - Jesus is the man in glory. One of our own made it to the true Holy of Holies in Heaven.
Jesus could only sit down after He successfully purged out sins.
When the Father looks at us today, it is like we are 'en-sphered' by Jesus. Like being immersed in the sea, and having water covering you completely. That is how one we are with Christ—we are in Christ.

“His Son is the radiance of his glory, the very image of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purified us of our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;” (Hebrews‬ ‭1:3‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

We died to the imputation of sin. God does not impute the condemnation of sin to us because our sins were already imputed to Jesus at the cross.

Not everyone is saved. Each one of us has to make the personal decision whether to receive Jesus as Lord or not. Only those who place their faith in Jesus will be saved.
Universalism (the belief that everyone is automatically saved whether they believe in Jesus or not) is a heresy.

Pastor Prince received these words from the Lord while he was praying: Jesus cannot bear guilt while you are bearing guilt.
Guilt cannot be in two places—it is either on Him or it is on you. If it is on Him, it cannot be on you. If it is on you, it cannot be on Him.

If guilt is on you, restoration cannot come to you. Where guilt is, there can be no restoration.

Leviticus 6:4-5 - There is a guilt/trespass offering (asham) under the Old Covenant of the Law.
The Bible says that the only way to get rid of guilt under the Old Covenant is to repay what you wrongfully took and add an additional twenty percent on top of that.
Jesus took our place at the cross. He became liable in our place to restore what we had robbed and exhorted.
He had restored much more than what we owed to God.
If guilt is no longer on you, then restoration is upon you.
When you fail, look to the cross and see your guilt upon Jesus. You are entitled to receive at least one hundred and twenty percent restoration for your losses.
God probably left the sinful flesh with us so that we would always rely on Him throughout life. We cannot boast in ourselves.
God has become a gainer through the cross—Jesus has restored much more worship, honor, reverence, and glory to God.

“then it shall be, if he has sinned, and is guilty, he shall restore that which he took by robbery, or the thing which he has gotten by oppression, or the deposit which was committed to him, or the lost thing which he found, or any thing about which he has sworn falsely; he shall restore it even in full, and shall add a fifth part more to it. To him to whom it belongs he shall give it, in the day of his being found guilty.” (Leviticus‬ ‭6:4-5‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Psalm 69:4 - This verse is in a Messianic psalm about Jesus.

“Those who hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head. Those who want to cut me off, being my enemies wrongfully, are mighty. I have to restore what I didn’t take away.” (Psalms‬ ‭69:4‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

John 15:25 - We know that Psalm 69:4 is about Jesus because He quoted it and applied it to Himself.

“But this happened so that the word may be fulfilled which was written in their law, ‘They hated me without a cause.’” (John‬ ‭15:25‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Jesus as God exists outside of time. That is why He can die for those who lived in the past, and for those who are in the future.

What Adam did by sinning was so powerful that sinners cannot change their position as a sinner by doing good works.
The only way for a sinner to become a saint is through being born again.
Then why do people treat it as though they can lose their salvation by sinning, as if what Adam did is more powerful than Jesus' finished work at the cross?

Romans 3:8 - The apostle Paul must have preached restoration so strongly that he was misunderstood. Some thought that he meant people should sin more so they Grace might abound.

“Why not (as we are slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say), “Let us do evil, that good may come?” Those who say so are justly condemned.” (Romans‬ ‭3:8‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 6:1-2 - Guilt is the crux of all addictions. As long as you feel guilty, you are doomed to repeat your sins.
Whenever you fail, instead of despairing and expecting bad things to happen in your future, confess that you are still the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
Reject the guilt and focus on how righteous you are in Christ.
When you feel guilty, you are imputing condemnation to yourself. In essence, you are saying that you do not believe that Jesus has paid for your sins.

“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? May it never be! We who died to sin, how could we live in it any longer?” (Romans‬ ‭6:1-2‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Jesus overpaid your sin debt. Now you can look God in the eye without feeling guilty—God has become a gainer because of you.
You cannot experience the benefit of this if you do not believe that your sin debt has been paid. You will still be full of turmoil.

Redemption is greater than creation. Man is still looking for answers about health and healing from creation. However, creation has fallen and become cursed ever since Adam sinned. Our trust cannot be in creation. We must hope in redemption which Jesus paid for at the cross.

God is righteous in declaring us righteous. He did not just sweep our sins under the carpet. The punishment has been fully exhausted upon Jesus.

John 8:11 - It is only when you receive the gift of no condemnation that you can have the power to go and sin no more.

“She said, “No one, Lord.” Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you. Go your way. From now on, sin no more.”” (John‬ ‭8:11‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

If you experience loss of income in your career, you can look to Jesus at the cross as your guilt offering, and receive one hundred twenty percent of restoration in your income. Expect to prosper in your finances.

If you have a negative diagnosis of health in your body, you can look to Jesus at the cross as your guilt offering, and receive one hundred twenty percent of restoration in your health. Expect to receive healing!

The English word “guilt” comes from the word “gieldan” which has the meaning of wanting to pay for something to discharge a debt.
When you feel guilty, your body produces an autoimmune response to punish yourself and you fall sick.

Romans 8:1-2 - The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has freed you from the law of sin and of death. You experience this as a truth when you do not receive guilt upon yourself.

“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free from the law of sin and of death.” (Romans‬ ‭8:1-2‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 4:8 - The Lord does not impute sin to you.
If you accept the imputation of sin, then sickness, weakness, poverty, and death (all effects of the curse) follows closely at the heels of sin.

“Blessed is the man whom the Lord will by no means charge with sin.”” (Romans‬ ‭4:8‬ ‭WEB‬‬)
