22 November 2015 - Pastor Lim Lian Neo Sermon Notes Online - New Creation Church Sermon Notes Online - The Power of Praise!
People are hungry to encounter Jesus at Pastor Joseph Prince's Grace Revolution Tour in USA! Psalms 8:2 - We are babes because we are depending on God. Out of our mouths, God is establishing strength so as to silence our enemies and the avenger. Sickness, diseases, addictions, depression, and lack are examples of our enemies. “Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, Because of Your enemies, That You may silence the enemy and the avenger.” (Psalms 8:2 NKJV) Matthew 21:16 - Jesus unpacked Psalms 8:2 for us - he defined strength as praise. Strength equals praise. When we praise God, His power comes down! “and said to Him, “Do You hear what these are saying?” And Jesus said to them, “Yes. Have you never read, ‘Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have perfected praise’?”” (Matthew 21:16 NKJV) Pastor Lian shared a testimonial of a lady who attends New Creation Church who got injured and had an open wound as long as a US One Dollar note, and 4cm deep. She shared that her wound supernaturally healed faster than the doctors had diagnosed, and shrank to the size of a Singapore fifty cent coin. Her care-group, family and friends took care of her and prayed for her. She even had a friend in her care-group who is a nurse who helped her to stitch up her wound. During the stitching (without anesthesia), she felt no pain at all. This lady shared her testimony with Pastor Lian and was gushing with praise for the Lord! When she praised the Lord, God's power came down on her! Don't wait until everything is perfect before you praise the Lord! II Chronicles 20:2-12 - If you feel fear and are met with a problem, seek the Lord, then praise Him! How to seek the Lord: Say "Lord, I have no power, but my eyes are upon You." - Shift your eyes away from your problems and from your own lack, and turn to the Lord! You don't have to complain - you can cast your cares upon the Lord! “Then some came and told Jehoshaphat, saying, “A great multitude is coming against you from beyond the sea, from Syria; and they are in Hazazon Tamar” (which is En Gedi). And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. So Judah gathered together to ask help from the LORD; and from all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD. Then Jehoshaphat stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the LORD, before the new court, and said: “O LORD God of our fathers, are You not God in heaven, and do You not rule over all the kingdoms of the nations, and in Your hand is there not power and might, so that no one is able to withstand You? Are You not our God, who drove out the inhabitants of this land before Your people Israel, and gave it to the descendants of Abraham Your friend forever? And they dwell in it, and have built You a sanctuary in it for Your name, saying, ‘If disaster comes upon us—sword, judgment, pestilence, or famine—we will stand before this temple and in Your presence (for Your name is in this temple), and cry out to You in our affliction, and You will hear and save.’ And now, here are the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir—whom You would not let Israel invade when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned from them and did not destroy them— here they are, rewarding us by coming to throw us out of Your possession which You have given us to inherit. O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.”” (II Chronicles 20:2-12 NKJV)
If you feel fear and are met with a problem, seek the Lord, then praise Him! How to seek the Lord: Say "Lord, I have no power, but my eyes are upon You." - Shift your eyes away from your problems and from your own lack, and turn to the Lord! You don't have to complain - you can cast your cares upon the Lord!
Pastor Lian's dad was saved at an old age, and he commented, "Had I known it was this wonderful to know Jesus, I would have believed in Him a long time ago!" When you listen to praise and worship music, it helps you to turn away from your problems, and to look upon Jesus - Jesus becomes clearer and clearer, and your eyes becomes transfixed upon His face. As you do that, your fears and worries will melt away. As your praise goes up, God's presence and provision comes into your life. The Hebrew language is an ideogram language - each Hebrew letter is an idea/concept. Example: Aleph - 1 (is an ox). The word "Praise" in Hebrew is "Yadah". It consists these letters: Yud dalet hei (which means - the hand that opens the door to grace). As our mouth speaks forth praise, the door to our supply opens for us. 2 Chronicles 20:15-21 - The battle is not yours, it's the Lord's. When the Lord fights for you, it's a sure-win battle for you! You don't have to fight, but show up! When you show up, God will show forth His goodness! Stand still and see your salvation (Jesus). You can praise the Lord when you know that the battle is not yours but the victory is yours! “And he said, “Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the LORD to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. Tomorrow go down against them. They will surely come up by the Ascent of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the brook before the Wilderness of Jeruel. You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the LORD, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the LORD is with you.” And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground, and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem bowed before the LORD, worshiping the LORD. Then the Levites of the children of the Kohathites and of the children of the Korahites stood up to praise the LORD God of Israel with voices loud and high. So they rose early in the morning and went out into the Wilderness of Tekoa; and as they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Hear me, O Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem: Believe in the LORD your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper.”” (II Chronicles 20:15-20 NKJV) Your problem only lasts for a day. But God's goodness goes beyond that and it will swallow up your problem!
The battle is not yours, it's the Lord's. When the Lord fights for you, it's a sure-win battle for you! You don't have to fight, but show up! When you show up, God will show forth His goodness! Stand still and see your salvation (Jesus). You can praise the Lord when you know that the battle is not yours but the victory is yours!
II Chronicles 20:22-27 - Only God can make your enemies destroy your other enemies. Praise the Lord and see in your mind's eye your enemies being defeated! Every problem of yours will be swallowed up by your God! When the devil attacks you, he didn't count on God turning it around and restoring to you more than what the devil stole from you! God uses your problems to give you so much more! He turns your battleground into your blessing-ground! “Now when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated. For the people of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir to utterly kill and destroy them. And when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, they helped to destroy one another. So when Judah came to a place overlooking the wilderness, they looked toward the multitude; and there were their dead bodies, fallen on the earth. No one had escaped. When Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away their spoil, they found among them an abundance of valuables on the dead bodies, and precious jewelry, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away; and they were three days gathering the spoil because there was so much. And on the fourth day they assembled in the Valley of Berachah, for there they blessed the LORD; therefore the name of that place was called The Valley of Berachah until this day. Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, with Jehoshaphat in front of them, to go back to Jerusalem with joy, for the LORD had made them rejoice over their enemies.” (II Chronicles 20:22-27 NKJV) If Goliath didn't show up, David would only have been a boy good with his sling. But Goliath showing up turned David into a giant slayer! If Joseph did not get sold into slavery in Egypt, he wouldn't have become the Prime Minister of Egypt. God can use the things that the devil means for evil, to bring something good out of it!
