18 September 2016 - True Humility that Attracts God's Grace - Rev. Col Stringer Sermon Notes Online - New Creation Church Sermon Notes OnlineProverbs 13:10 - Strife, contention and trouble are the only things that comes from being proud. “By pride comes nothing but strife, But with the well-advised is wisdom.” (Proverbs 13:10 NKJV) John 15:5 - Without Jesus we cannot do anything, but with Him we can do all things! ““I am the vine, you are the branches. He was who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5 NKJV) I Peter 5:5-7 - Humility does not mean to grovel in the dirt. True humility is just total dependence on God, and not thinking higher of yourself than you ought to - think in line with what God's word says about you! “Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” (I Peter 5:5-7 NKJV) Galatians 5:16-21 - The kingdom of God operates by humility not by pride. “I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.” (Galatians 5:16-21 NKJV) Galatians 5:22-25 - Fruit is something that develops naturally, not by effort. On earth you are in an 'earth suit'. The real you is a spirit. The real you is loving, kind, etc. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” (Galatians 5:22-25 NKJV) I Corinthians 13:4-8 - There is no pride in love. “Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.” (I Corinthians 13:4-8 NKJV) Rev. Col Stringer ministers with a powerful anointing and is in great demand to speak at churches and conventions all over the world. Col's unique background of wildlife and humor have won for him the title of "Pastor Crocodile Dundee". He is also a successful author of 20 Christian books. His book ‘On Eagles Wings’ has become an international best seller and has been endorsed by Joyce Meyer, Kenneth Hagin Jr, Jerry Savelle, Jesse Duplantis, and Kenneth Copeland. His book '800 Horsemen' has also been a best seller. The Apostle John is probably the only disciple of Jesus who had the revelation of God's grace. He was the only disciple who was with Jesus at the foot of the cross when He was being crucified. The only disciple who didn't die a martyr's death is John. Mark 6:1-6 - The people who knew Jesus took offence at Him. Mighty works COULDN'T be done, not wouldn't. Something was stopping them from happening. Grace has to be received. It's not a thing, it's a Person - Jesus. It takes humility to receive grace and to stop relying on your own efforts. “Then He went out from there and came to His own country, and His disciples followed Him. And when the Sabbath had come, He began to teach in the synagogue. And many hearing Him were astonished, saying, “Where did this Man get these things? And what wisdom is this which is given to Him, that such mighty works are performed by His hands! Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?” So they were offended at Him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house.” Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He marveled because of their unbelief. Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching.” (Mark 6:1-6 NKJV) Mark 6:53-56 - The people received God's grace. “When they had crossed over, they came to the land of Gennesaret and anchored there. And when they came out of the boat, immediately the people recognized Him, ran through that whole surrounding region, and began to carry about on beds those who were sick to wherever they heard He was. Wherever He entered, into villages, cities, or the country, they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and begged Him that they might just touch the hem of His garment. And as many as touched Him were made well.” (Mark 6:53-56 NKJV) If you humble yourself you won't be humiliated. Somewhere along the journey of life, we will face something that we don't have an answer for in the natural. In face of that situation, be humble and have total dependence on God for your life. John 21:4-6 - If there's a right side, there's a wrong side. Favor and power are at the right hand of God. Jesus is seated at the right hand of God. Jesus is talking about doing things using God's way. Everything will be blessed if you do it God's way. “But when the morning had now come, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. Then Jesus said to them, “Children, have you any food?” They answered Him, “No.” And He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some. ” So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish.” (John 21:4-6 NKJV) II Corinthians 12:7-10 - When we're weak in our own estimation, then we are strong with God. “And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” (II Corinthians 12:7-10 NKJV) How is it possible to finish our course of life with joy despite all the tribulations and persecutions in life?
