Wuhan Coronavirus: Defeating it by Faith in Jesus Christ

The Wuhan Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) has the world trembling in fear. It spread out of Wuhan, China, and has since spread into other continents, even in the city I live, Singapore. In the Bible, God promises protection and even immunity from this sickness!

​The Wuhan Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) has the world trembling in fear. It spread out of Wuhan, China, and has since spread into other continents, even in the city I live, Singapore. 

In the Bible, the evil spirit responsible for worldwide plagues like these is called "Death". It is described by the apostle John in the Book of Revelation to be one riding on a pale horse.  Death was given the authority to kill through earthquakes, wars, famine, plagues and wild animals. 

"When he opened the fourth seal, I heard the fourth living creature saying, “Come and see!” And behold, a pale horse, and he who sat on it, his name was Death. Hades followed with him. Authority over one fourth of the earth, to kill with the sword, with famine, with death, and by the wild animals of the earth was given to him.”" (Revelation‬ ‭6:1-8‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

With something as vile and widespread as the Wuhan Coronavirus, I believe that Death is the culprit behind it.
It is believed that the coronavirus spread to humans because of consuming wild animals, specifically bats in fruit bat soup from the Wuhan market.

See how both plagues and wild animals are involved through Death's attack?

The coronavirus spreads mainly through ingesting the saliva of an infected animal or person.  The incubation period ranges from 2-14 days.

Besides applying practical wisdom like washing your hands often, using hand sanitizers, wearing a disposable face mask, avoiding crowded areas and taking vitamin C supplements to boost your immunity, what else can a child of God do?

Death has no claim over us. The Wuhan Novel Coronavirus has no right to infect your body.

The most powerful thing we have to combat the coronavirus is authority over sicknesses in Jesus' name. 

As Christians who have placed our faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we who were once spiritually-dead sons of Adam have been born-again, re-created as a new creature in Christ.

We have passed out of death, into eternal life, sharing in Jesus' death, burial and resurrection. 

This means that we are no longer under the Law of sin and death. We are under the jurisdiction of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus, which is the Holy Spirit. 

In other words, anything pertaining to death has no right over us, and that includes the coronavirus. 

Under the governance of the Holy Spirit, we ought to be only manifesting life and life more abundantly, in our body, soul and spirit! This won't happen by default though. You must receive it by faith. 

Believe it and confess: "I have been set free from the Law of sin and of death. The coronavirus has no right to touch me or infect me. Only health, healing and all manifestations of eternal life are mine in Jesus' mighty name, Amen! 

Refuse to let the devil have any opportunity to attack you through unbelief or ignorance. He has no real power over you!

God's promises of protection from the Wuhan Novel Coronavirus

God promises to protect us in many portions of Scripture, but Psalm 91 is my favorite because it is so straightforward and clear. Read this beautiful version of it:

​“When you sit enthroned under the shadow of Shaddai, you are hidden in the strength of God Most High.

He’s the hope that holds me and the Stronghold to shelter me, the only God for me, and my great confidence.

He will rescue you from every hidden trap of the enemy, and he will protect you from false accusation and any deadly curse.

His massive arms are wrapped around you, protecting you. You can run under his covering of majesty and hide.

His arms of faithfulness are a shield keeping you from harm.

You will never worry about an attack of demonic forces at night nor have to fear a spirit of darkness coming against you.

Don’t fear a thing! Whether by night or by day, demonic danger will not trouble you, nor will the powers of evil launched against you.

Even in a time of disaster, with thousands and thousands being killed, you will remain unscathed and unharmed.

You will be a spectator as the wicked perish in judgment, for they will be paid back for what they have done!

When we live our lives within the shadow of God Most High, our secret hiding place, we will always be shielded from harm.

How then could evil prevail against us or disease infect us?

God sends angels with special orders to protect you wherever you go, defending you from all harm.

If you walk into a trap, they’ll be there for you and keep you from stumbling.

You’ll even walk unharmed among the fiercest powers of darkness, trampling every one of them beneath your feet!

For here is what the Lord has spoken to me: “Because you have delighted in me as my great lover, I will greatly protect you. I will set you in a high place, safe and secure before my face.
I will answer your cry for help every time you pray, and you will find and feel my presence even in your time of pressure and trouble.
I will be your glorious hero and give you a feast.
You will be satisfied with a full life and with all that I do for you.
For you will enjoy the fullness of my salvation!””

‭‭(Psalms‬ ‭91:1-16‬ ‭TPT‬‬)

Meditate on the beautiful psalm 91 and guard your heart from fear or worry. God promises to protect you who believe in Him, from every disease and demonic attack.

Pray with me: "Thank you Abba Father for your promises of protection in Psalm 91. We pray against the Wuhan pneumonia-causing coronavirus. By the blood Jesus shed for us at the cross, protect everyone and heal those who are infected. Thoroughly eliminate every strain of this virus from the earth. In Jesus’ name, Amen!"

Share this article to remind fellow believers to pray and stay in faith. Jesus' name is higher than any other name. The Wuhan Novel Coronavirus has to bow, submit and be utterly destroyed at the name of Jesus Christ! 

Further action steps: Keep feeding on God's lavish love for you. Keep your faith in Him fresh. When your eyes are fixed on Jesus, fear and worry will have no place to enter your heart.
