11 June 2017 - Healing Flows When Grace is Exalted - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes Online - New Creation Church Sermon Notes Online

This is a Pastor Joseph Prince sermon preached at The Rock Auditorium back in July 2012.

When we go out and spread the gospel, God takes care of us back home.
But when we become inward-looking then the amount of worry and stress has no limit.

A believer receives health mainly through partaking of the Holy communion.
Laying on of hands is primary for healing people who aren't believers yet. Healing is God's dinner bell.
A believer should be walking in health.

By discerning the Lord's body during communion, you will be more whole, healthy and healed than before.

Genesis 20:17-18 - The Law of First Mention when studying the Bible:
There is a significant truth that God wants to reveal.
The first account of healing in the Bible has got to do with family healing.
Their wombs were closed up because Sarah was not in the right place.

“So Abraham prayed to God; and God healed Abimelech, his wife, and his female servants. Then they bore children; for the LORD had closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech because of Sarah, Abraham’s wife.” (‭‭Genesis‬ ‭20:17-18‬ ‭NKJV)

Isaiah 53:4-5 - Healing is the work of Jesus Christ. In the Hebrew Bible, "griefs" is "kholee" which means diseases. "Sorrows" is "makov" which means pains.

“Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.” (‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭53:4-5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

Matthew 8:16-17 - Isaiah 53:4 was quoted by Matthew.
This healing is physical healing, not spiritual healing.
Before people are saved, their spirits are dead.
As believers, our spirits don't need healing. It's our body that needs healing.

“When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: “He Himself took our infirmities And bore our sicknesses.”” (Matthew‬ ‭8:16-17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

Why is there sickness in this world? Because of Adam's sin. Adam used his free choice to sin against God.
God provided Jesus Christ to purchase healing for the world.

Psalms 103:1-3 - There is a wrong preaching that says our sins are only partially forgiven - they believe that only all the sins we've committed before we received Jesus are forgiven.
They believe that every sin committed after that must be confessed in order to receive forgiveness.
This is wrong preaching.
All our sins were considered future sins when Jesus died for us more than 2000 years ago.
God foreknew all our sins even before we were born.
How we perceive the extent of our forgiveness is the extent that we can receive healing.
How forgiven you think you are affects your experience of receiving healing.
Healing is close on the heels of forgiveness.
When God forgave your sins, He healed your body.

“Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases,” ‭‭(Psalms‬ ‭103:1-3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

All our sins were considered future sins when Jesus died for us more than 2000 years ago. God foreknew all our sins even before we were born.

Righteous by Faith and not by Works

For pastors: The pulpit is to feed and not to beat. Don't slap 1000 people in order to hit 1 person.

King David was a unique man because he was an Old Covenant man living with a New Covenant mentality.
He had two counts of death over his head: adultery and murder.
Yet he escaped death because he understood grace.
Sin will not have dominion over you if you are under grace and not under the Law.

Galatians 5:4 - Jesus cannot help you if you are depending on your own righteousness.
God wants all your trust and hope in Christ alone.

“You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.” (‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5:4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

Wherever the gospel goes, civilization explodes. The gospel produces good behavior.
People become educated, women are respected, etc.
God is not interested in saving the world - the trees, animals, etc. He is interested in saving the world's people.
They are fallen not from without, they are fallen from within.

Romans 4:1-5 - God will become indebted to no man. God wants us indebted to grace.
God justifies the ungodly and the basis of this is the cross of Jesus Christ.
Abraham represents faith - he is considered as the 'father of faith'.

“What then shall we say that Abraham our father has found according to the flesh? For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt. But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness,” ‭‭(Romans‬ ‭4:1-5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

Faith and Grace go together

Galatians 4:21-26 - The Apostle Paul made types kosher.
Sarah represents the New Covenant of grace.
Hagar represents the Old Covenant of the Law.
The persecution against the gospel is getting lesser and lesser.
We don't have to defend the gospel. The gospel can defend itself. We only need to preach the gospel.
If it's from God, how can anyone attack it successfully? How can a mouse attack a lion?
By living under grace, we become holy by accident. It's called the fruits of the Holy Spirit.

“Tell me, you who desire to be under the law, do you not hear the law? For it is written that Abraham had two sons: the one by a bondwoman, the other by a freewoman. But he who was of the bondwoman was born according to the flesh, and he of the freewoman through promise, which things are symbolic. For these are the two covenants: the one from Mount Sinai which gives birth to bondage, which is Hagar— for this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children— but the Jerusalem above is free, which is the mother of us all.” (‭‭Galatians‬ ‭4:21-26‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

Genesis 20:1-9 - Sarah was Abraham's half-sister from their father's side. But Abraham's intention was to lie.
God clarifies that Sarah is Abraham's wife.
Many believers have no intimacy with grace. They see grace as their sister, not their wife.
However, they agree that faith is important. God wants us intimate with both grace and faith.
Abimelech took grace (Sarah) away. Sarah was added to his harem. She became just one of the women, not the queen!
Many believers are putting grace as just a topic, not the main thing.
Abraham was the one who lied and yet God says that Abimelech is dead.
By this time, God already sees Abraham as a prince. God sees Abraham as righteous all the way.
Abraham was righteous by faith, not by his works.
Why is Abimelech declared dead? Because he took grace (Sarah) away from faith (Abraham).
We the church have deceived the world. They look at us taking grace as our sister.
They get saved and we slap them with a list of terms and conditions.
God loves us unconditionally. God acknowledges that the world has been deceived.
The world cannot defile grace. God will make sure of it. Grace will purify the world.
God called Abraham a prophet even though Abraham just sinned.
When you have been justified by grace, you will experience God's goodness.
The goodness of God will lead you to repentance.
Pray for people. We have influence with God. God loves bold faith.
Example: Don't just ask God for a job, ask Him for a position!

“And Abraham journeyed from there to the South, and dwelt between Kadesh and Shur, and stayed in Gerar. Now Abraham said of Sarah his wife, “She is my sister.” And Abimelech king of Gerar sent and took Sarah. But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, “Indeed you are a dead man because of the woman whom you have taken, for she is a man’s wife.” But Abimelech had not come near her; and he said, “Lord, will You slay a righteous nation also? Did he not say to me, ‘She is my sister’? And she, even she herself said, ‘He is my brother.’ In the integrity of my heart and innocence of my hands I have done this.” And God said to him in a dream, “Yes, I know that you did this in the integrity of your heart. For I also withheld you from sinning against Me; therefore I did not let you touch her. Now therefore, restore the man’s wife; for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you and you shall live. But if you do not restore her, know that you shall surely die, you and all who are yours.” So Abimelech rose early in the morning, called all his servants, and told all these things in their hearing; and the men were very much afraid. And Abimelech called Abraham and said to him, “What have you done to us? How have I offended you, that you have brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? You have done deeds to me that ought not to be done.”” ‭‭(Genesis‬ ‭20:1-9‬ ‭NKJV‬)

Genesis 20:14-18 - Faith was enriched when grace was put back.
When Grace is put in its right position together with faith, faith is strengthened!
God is waiting for grace not to be just a topic.
When grace is vindicated and given the rightful place of honor, blessing and healing will flow.
Abraham qualified to be righteous by being unqualified.
We are righteous by faith, not by performance. Remember this when praying for the sick.
You don't have to wait until you have everything all together in your life before you pray for the sick.
In fact, if you think you have everything all together, healing will not flow.
You must be a person who is righteous by faith who doesn't have everything all together in order to pray for the sick and see results.
In the parables of Jesus, the last, the lost and the least are the ones who receive grace.
The woman with the issue of blood received healing from Jesus. The leper received healing from Jesus.
Healing is for imperfect people. The one who is receiving healing also must not have everything all together.
God's healing is not for those with a plus. It's for those with a minus.

“Then Abimelech took sheep, oxen, and male and female servants, and gave them to Abraham; and he restored Sarah his wife to him. And Abimelech said, “See, my land is before you; dwell where it pleases you.” Then to Sarah he said, “Behold, I have given your brother a thousand pieces of silver; indeed this vindicates you before all who are with you and before everybody.” Thus she was rebuked. So Abraham prayed to God; and God healed Abimelech, his wife, and his female servants. Then they bore children; for the LORD had closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech because of Sarah, Abraham’s wife.” ‭‭(Genesis‬ ‭20:14-18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

Genesis 20:16 - Sarah was not rebuked by Abimelech. The correct translation should be "cleared and compensated".

“Then to Sarah he said, “Look, I have given this brother of yours a thousand pieces of silver; it is to compensate you [for all that has happened] and to vindicate your honor before all who are with you; before all men you are cleared and compensated.”” (‭‭GENESIS‬ ‭20:16‬ ‭AMP‬‬)

Come to Jesus as you are. Whatever you are lacking, He will supply it. Even faith.
Don't make faith an obstacle between a person and God.
Faith will come even without realizing it when hearing God's word.

Genesis 20:18-21:2 - The devil doesn't want you to pray for the sick because by doing so you will set in motion your own miracle.
You don't have to be perfect in order to pray for the sick.

“for the LORD had closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech because of Sarah, Abraham’s wife. And the LORD visited Sarah as He had said, and the LORD did for Sarah as He had spoken. For Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.” (‭‭Genesis‬ ‭20:18-21:2‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

Job 42:10 - Job was restored and his situation was turned around when he prayed for his friends.
He didn't have it all together but he still prayed for his friends.

“And the LORD restored Job’s losses when he prayed for his friends. Indeed the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.” (‭‭Job‬ ‭42:10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

Grace is a queen. She cannot be placed among the concubines and treated as important but not the most important.
Grace is the most important thing to God.

Faith was enriched when grace was put back. When Grace is put in its right position together with faith, faith is strengthened! God is waiting for grace not to be just a topic. When grace is vindicated and given the rightful place of honor, blessing and healing will flow.
