31 July 2016 - Holy Communion: The Eucharist that Brings Health and Wholeness - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes Online - New Creation Church Sermon Notes OnlineLuke 18:27 - Jesus Himself said, "The things which are impossible with men are possible with God". God rejoices when He is needed and called on. “But He said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”” (Luke 18:27 NKJV) Isaiah 53:4-5 - The Bible says that surely Jesus has borne our "choli" which is the Hebrew word for "physical sickness" and carried our "makob" which is the Hebrew word for "physical pains". Jesus took our punishment upon Himself. He was not punished for His own sins, but for all of our sins! “Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:4-5 NKJV) Matthew 8:16-17 - The context is physical healing. Isaiah 53:4 is not talking about healing from spiritual sickness - it's talking about healing from physical sickness. Our spirits are not just sick, they are dead if we are not saved. To revive our spirit, we need to be born again, not just healed. “When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: “He Himself took our infirmities And bore our sicknesses.”” (Matthew 8:16-17 NKJV) Luke 13:11-13 - Eighteen years - Eighteen is 6 + 6 + 6. 666 is the number of the Antichrist. The devil will always try to bow you down, but Jesus will always lift you up! “And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up. But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.” And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.” (Luke 13:11-13 NKJV) Romans 2:14-15 - The Bible says the Ten Commandments is written in every heart. This is how we know that we are all fallen - We know what's right but we don't want to do what's right. “for when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves, who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them )” (Romans 2:14-15 NKJV)
III John 1:2 - The Christian life is a discovery of how much God loves us.
This prosperity is not just talking about spiritual prosperity. It's talking about prosperity in EVERY area of our lives. God wants us to live the zoe (the Greek word for "life") life. That is the life that God Himself lives by. Eternal life is not just about living forever - those in hell also live forever. Eternal life is not talking about the duration of life, but about the quality of life. Jesus came that we may have the abundant life! “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” (III John 1:2 NKJV) God's will for you is to NEVER be sick. Once we are in heaven, we will never be sick, and there will be no need to pay for anything - no more bills, no more taxes, etc. Revelation 21:4 - When someone has gone to heaven, their tears will have to be wiped away probably because he is crying for those who are not saved and who have accepted their fallen state. "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." (Revelation 21:4 NKJV) God did not create us as robots. He chose to create man knowing full well that man would rebel. Love is love because it gives a choice. The thing about free choice: You cannot choose the result of your choice. Example: If you choose to touch fire, you choose to be burnt. James 5:14 - Notice that it doesn't say that the elder who is praying cannot be sick. “Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.” (James 5:14 NKJV) I Corinthians 11:30 - If a Christian passes away now, he or she will be asleep because death is conquered and is no more for the believer. “For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep.” (I Corinthians 11:30 NKJV)
