7 August 2016 - Holy Communion: The Eucharist that Brings Health and Wholeness (Part 2) - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes Online - New Creation Church Sermon Notes OnlineThe Bible says to pray and to make intercession for all who are in authority, so that we can live quiet and peaceable lives. In many parts of the world, common sense doesn't reign anymore. We know what's right in our hearts. Don't allow others to force you into accepting what is wrong. Gluttony is wrong because it destroys your body. God wants you to live long. For this reason - a singular reason, many are weak, sick and fall asleep before their time. That reason is that they don't distinguish the Lord's body - they don't distinguish between the bread and the cup. You don't partake of the holy communion in order to be forgiven. You partake to celebrate and give thanks for what has already been done. It's Eucharistic in nature. Psalms 22:17 - Most criminals would go straight to the cross. But because of Pontius Pilate's miscalculation, Jesus went through both scourging and crucifixion. Psalms 22, a Messianic Psalm reveals that Jesus was scourged so bad that His bones were exposed. “I can count all My bones. They look and stare at Me.” (Psalms 22:17 NKJV) When you declare that you are healed of your sickness or disease, call the condition by name and declare that by Jesus' stripes, you are healed! Don't rush through it. Genesis 14:18-20 - Melchizedek is the King of Shalom. Shalom is not just peace, but it's also wholeness and completeness - it includes freedom from sickness and disease. Jesus was always healing and cleansing people while He was on earth because He is the King of Shalom. "God Most High" is "El Elyon" in Hebrew - this is the first mention of this name of God. Melchizedek said what He said to Abraham so that we know that God possesses both the heavens and the earth. Many have tried to take possession over the heavens and the earth, but all have failed. Only One will succeed, and that is the Lord Jesus Christ when He comes back to rule on earth. What did Melchizedek (who represents Jesus) say to the King of Sodom (who represents the devil)? Nothing! He completely ignored him. That's the posture we should have as believers. Don't give your credit, glory and weight to the devil. Just ignore him. Abraham knew that when he tithed he would become rich. The Hebrew word for "rich" which is "ashar" is in the Hebrew word for "tithe" which is "asar". “Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was the priest of God Most High. And he blessed him and said: “Blessed be Abram of God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth; And blessed be God Most High, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” And he gave him a tithe of all.” (Genesis 14:18-20 NKJV) When your ministry grows and your career is blessed, stop looking around. Look up - Your blessing is from the Lord! The Bible says that every soul is subject to higher powers. Even wicked people are allowed to be raised up for a purpose and God can use their evil deeds to bring about His divine purposes. Pharaoh's heart was hard and at points in time God hardened his heart to bring about His purposes. King Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon was also raised up by God. Because he was looking around himself thinking that he was the cause of his riches and power instead of looking up to God, God struck him with madness. Don't seek blessings from people. Their hands are too small. Receive your blessings from God. When God blesses you, no one can stop it. Holiness is adopting God's thinking, attitude and actions. When God blesses us with prosperity, it mostly manifests in a very normal way, and it's easy to forget that it is God who blessed us. Don't say that it is your own hand and power that caused you to prosper. It is God's blessing. The Church is not a building. The church is the most powerful organization in the universe!

I Corinthians 11:23-26 - In what way was Jesus' body broken for us? It was broken for the healing of our sicknesses and diseases. When you proclaim the Lord's death, you are announcing to the powers of darkness that you're shaking off all the powers of darkness because of what Jesus has done. And you're doing that without saying it directly. How do you proclaim the Lord's death? By taking communion. “For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.” (I Corinthians 11:23-26 NKJV) I Corinthians 10:16-18 - Partaking of the body of Christ is not referring to partaking of the church, but referring to partaking of Jesus' body. We partake of that one body which is Jesus's body. When you partake of the holy communion, you are in joint partakers/sharer (in Greek: "koinonia") of the body of Christ. “The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? For we, though many, are one bread and one body; for we all partake of that one bread. Observe Israel after the flesh: Are not those who eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar?” (I Corinthians 10:16-18 NKJV) Acts 2:46-47 - The Holy Communion can be partaken of in your home, but there is a main meal to be partaken of every Sunday (the first day of the week) when you come together for church service. That's following the pattern of Scripture. The Holy Communion is also called the "Lord's Supper". During supper, it's dark but it doesn't get darker. After the darkness comes the light. “So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.” (Acts 2:46-47 NKJV) Don't stop taking the medicine that is prescribed by your doctor just because you are taking communion. However, medicine sometimes produces more problems, but Holy Communion is the cure. About the Sin, Trespass and Burnt Offerings: Sin Offering is for what you do - to cover the sins that you have committed). Trespass offering has a promise of 120% restoration for your losses. Peace Offering is where you partake of the power of Jesus. In these times, the devil has managed to remove the message of the Rapture, Jesus' Second Coming, and the Blessed Hope of the Bible. Pastors and preachers need to bring that message back and preach it in the pulpit. There is no such thing as a haunted house, but it is a demon-possessed house. Yes, demons can move things around. When you partake of Holy Communion in a demon-possessed house, you are proclaiming the Lord's death and announcing to all the demons that they have to flee because of what Jesus has done. Don't despise the Holy Communion and underestimate its power just because it's so small and simple. Don't say "Can anything good come out of small Nazareth?" God could not use Samson to destroy 1000 Philistines until the dead donkey's jawbone was totally dry. God uses the simple, small and weak things of the earth to confound the strong and mighty. The lost, the last and the least will become mighty. They are the greatest in God's economy. God's pace is slow and restful, except when it comes to salvation. Salvation is speedy because there may not be a tomorrow for many people. As long as one has Christ, the devil cannot call his number. I Samuel 7:8-11 - Differences between the Sin Offering and the Burnt Offering: In the Sin Offering, your sins are transferred to the lamb, but in the Burnt Offering, the righteousness of the lamb is transferred to you. The Sin Offering is involuntary, but the Burnt Offering is voluntary. It has a thanksgiving nature. The Sin Offering reminds God of the sins that His Son took on His body and there is no sweet smelling aroma. Our sins are called abominations and it smells like something rotten. However, the Burnt Offering reminds God of His Son and there is a sweet smelling aroma. The Burnt Offering is not propitiatory in nature - it's not for forgiveness of sins. It's Eucharistic - it's thanksgiving. “So the children of Israel said to Samuel, “Do not cease to cry out to the LORD our God for us, that He may save us from the hand of the Philistines.” And Samuel took a suckling lamb and offered it as a whole burnt offering to the LORD. Then Samuel cried out to the LORD for Israel, and the LORD answered him. Now as Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel. But the LORD thundered with a loud thunder upon the Philistines that day, and so confused them that they were overcome before Israel. And the men of Israel went out of Mizpah and pursued the Philistines, and drove them back as far as below Beth Car.” (I Samuel 7:8-11 NKJV) When the fire of God's judgement hit Jesus, something happened: Jesus' body consumed the judgement but was not destroyed. That's why the Altar of Burnt Offering is overlaid with bronze because it can withstand fire. When the Prophet Elijah prayed for God's fire to descend to consume the offering, everything - the water, stones and the offering were all burnt up and gone. In this case, the judgement was greater than the sacrifice. But when Jesus had consumed all of God's judgement, He was still alive and He dismissed His spirit after crying out "Finished!". This time, the Sacrifice is greater than the judgement! When you partake of Holy Communion, don't ask "What can a lamb do?" A Lamb did it. Every time we proclaim the Lord's death, we remind God of His Son. God loves to be reminded of His Son. Joseph, a type of Jesus, said "Go tell my father about what you have seen and all my glory". When you take communion, it will be good to talk to the Lord Jesus. The Triune God doesn't mind when you address Jesus when taking communion. The Holy Spirit will probably be grieved if you address Him instead of Jesus during communion. Most people address the Father during communion. You can address the Father at other times. Genesis 8:20-21 - When God smells the sweet aroma, He always blesses. God will never again flood the earth to destroy all life on it. Every time you partake of the Holy Communion, you are in the presence of a sweet smelling aroma. “Then Noah built an altar to the LORD, and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird, and offered burnt offerings on the altar. And the LORD smelled a soothing aroma. Then the LORD said in His heart, “I will never again curse the ground for man’s sake, although the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done.” (Genesis 8:20-21 NKJV) When people accuse you, don't defend yourself. God will defend you. When God is reminded of His Son, death stops, grace reigns, and something good is released/ happens. Why do you want to be rich? Why buy things you can't afford to impress people who don't care? It's empty. Fill your prayers with Jesus. He is the incense - the fragrant aroma that is pleasing to the Father.
