Joshua 2:12-21 - When destruction came to the city of Jericho, the scarlet cord was the only thing that saved Rahab and her family. The scarlet cord is symbolic of the blood of Jesus Christ. The only thing that saves us is the blood of Jesus. Hollywood can't harm us if we don't let them into our homes. Rahab could ask for many things, but she asked for her family to be saved. We want our family to be saved more than anything else in this world. If you want your family to be saved, you do something about it. Tie the Scarlet cord in your household. Make it permanent, make it strong! Make sure your family is in church. “Now therefore, I beg you, swear to me by the LORD, since I have shown you kindness, that you also will show kindness to my father’s house, and give me a true token, and spare my father, my mother, my brothers, my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.” So the men answered her, “Our lives for yours, if none of you tell this business of ours. And it shall be, when the LORD has given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with you.” Then she let them down by a rope through the window, for her house was on the city wall; she dwelt on the wall. And she said to them, “Get to the mountain, lest the pursuers meet you. Hide there three days, until the pursuers have returned. Afterward you may go your way.” So the men said to her: “We will be blameless of this oath of yours which you have made us swear, unless, when we come into the land, you bind this line of scarlet cord in the window through which you let us down, and unless you bring your father, your mother, your brothers, and all your father’s household to your own home. So it shall be that whoever goes outside the doors of your house into the street, his blood shall be on his own head, and we will be guiltless. And whoever is with you in the house, his blood shall be on our head if a hand is laid on him. And if you tell this business of ours, then we will be free from your oath which you made us swear.” Then she said, “According to your words, so be it.” And she sent them away, and they departed. And she bound the scarlet cord in the window.” (Joshua 2:12-21 NKJV) I Timothy 6:12 - The good fight of faith is the fight worth fighting. “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” (I Timothy 6:12 NKJV) Lesson 1: Your family can be saved regardless of your past. Rahab was a prostitute. She was morally unfit. She was running a brothel, not a hotel. Despite her background, the scarlet cord allowed her to be saved. I Corinthians 5:17 - No matter road you took to Calvary, there is NOTHING in your past that is stronger than the blood of Jesus. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” (II Corinthians 5:17 NKJV) Romans 8:1 - When the devil tries to tell you that your children will not be saved, tell him this. “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” (Romans 8:1 NKJV)  Rahab could ask for many things, but she asked for her family to be saved. We want our family to be saved more than anything else in this world. If you want your family to be saved, you do something about it. Tie the Scarlet cord in your household. Make it permanent, make it strong! The three items inside the Ark of the Covenant: 1) The two tablets of the Ten Commandments. 2) The pot of manna. 3) Aaron's rod that budded. The three items above represent Israel's worst failures to God. The Mercy Seat covers the three items. Mercy is always over the Law. I Samuel 5:6-12 - The Philistines wanted to remove the lid of the Ark of the Covenant - When they tried to drag out Israel's sins from under the blood on the Mercy Seat, God responded with judgment. Your past is under the blood and the devil cannot remove you from under the Mercy Seat. “But the hand of the LORD was heavy on the people of Ashdod, and He ravaged them and struck them with tumors, both Ashdod and its territory. And when the men of Ashdod saw how it was, they said, “The ark of the God of Israel must not remain with us, for His hand is harsh toward us and Dagon our god.” Therefore they sent and gathered to themselves all the lords of the Philistines, and said, “What shall we do with the ark of the God of Israel?” And they answered, “Let the ark of the God of Israel be carried away to Gath.” So they carried the ark of the God of Israel away. So it was, after they had carried it away, that the hand of the LORD was against the city with a very great destruction; and He struck the men of the city, both small and great, and tumors broke out on them. Therefore they sent the ark of God to Ekron. So it was, as the ark of God came to Ekron, that the Ekronites cried out, saying, “They have brought the ark of the God of Israel to us, to kill us and our people!” So they sent and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and said, “Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and let it go back to its own place, so that it does not kill us and our people.” For there was a deadly destruction throughout all the city; the hand of God was very heavy there. And the men who did not die were stricken with the tumors, and the cry of the city went up to heaven.” (I Samuel 5:6-12 NKJV) Ephesians 4:14 - If the Scarlet cord is tied tightly around your family, your children will not be led away by other doctrines. “that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,” (Ephesians 4:14 NKJV) Proverbs 23:23 - Lesson 2: Keep the Scarlet cord bound tightly around your family. “Buy the truth, and do not sell it, Also wisdom and instruction and understanding.” (Proverbs 23:23 NKJV) Deuteronomy 6:6-8 - Talk about Jesus everywhere you go with your children: at home, in the car, etc. That's how you tightly bind the scarlet cord around your family. ““And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.” (Deuteronomy 6:6-8 NKJV) Acts 4:12 - The name of Jesus is what goes along with the Scarlet cord. “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”” (Acts 4:12 NKJV)  The three items inside the Ark of the Covenant: 1) The two tablets of the Ten Commandments. 2) The pot of manna. 3) Aaron's rod that budded. The window is what allows access into your window. Guard the window of your home. If you are married, you and your spouse should both have each other's passwords to all social media accounts, phones, etc. Practice openness! Proverbs 22:6 - Tie the Scarlet cord around your children from when they are young. “Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6 NKJV) Proverbs 4:23 - Guard what enters your family: social media, TV, internet, etc. “Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.” (Proverbs 4:23 NKJV) Rahab is included in the genealogy of the Lord Jesus Christ and she is also in the Faith Hall of Fame in the Book of Hebrews. Hebrew 12:1 - Reverend Marcus Lamb believes that the "cloud of witnesses" are our loved ones who are believers than have passed on. They can intercede for us while they are in heaven. Our loved ones in heaven can do more for us there than here on earth. “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,” (Hebrews 12:1 NKJV)  Reverend Marcus Lamb believes that the "cloud of witnesses" are our loved ones who are believers than have passed on.
