11 September 2016 - Protection Truths in the Ark of the Covenant (Part 2) - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes Online - New Creation Church Sermon Notes OnlineJesus felt the whole gamut of human emotions just like we do, just that He being God and without the sin nature in Him, has the power to control them. What the three items inside the Ark of the Covenant represent: 1) The two tablets of the Ten Commandments represents Man's rejection of God's standards. 2) The pot of manna represents Man's rejection of God's provision. 3) Aaron's rod that budded represents Man's rejection of God-appointed leadership. The first mention of the "ark" is in Genesis, when Joseph was buried in a coffin. The word "coffin" is the word for ark. The ark is a coffin for the three items. The only suitable place for the three items is under the mercy seat. Grace is higher than the Law - that's why you can fall from Grace. The mercy seat is placed above the three items in the Ark of the Covenant. Blood is sprinkled on the mercy seat - God cannot look through His Son's blood. When God sees blood He cannot see sin. Jesus is the true Manna. He is the Bread from heaven. When you partake of the Holy Communion, remember that you are partaking of Jesus' flesh, which He gave for the life of the world. Aging is nothing more than dying, but now that we are partaking of Jesus' flesh, we will not die, but live.
The blood of bulls and goats cannot take away the sins of the world. They can only provide a covering year to year, like sweeping the sins under a carpet.
But as John the Baptist declared, Jesus is the Lamb that TAKES AWAY the sins of the world! The two cherubim on the Ark of the Covenant are the guardians of God's righteousness. Year by year they saw the blood sprinkled onto the mercy seat and God's blessing being released. I Peter 1:12 - Angels are inquisitive creatures. They desire to look into the beauty of salvation - why are humans offered salvation and why Lucifer isn't? “To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven--things which angels desire to look into.” (I Peter 1:12 NKJV) Jesus is the true Ark of the Covenant. The Ark is a visual aid, not the true substance. If you open up the Ark, it forms the shape of the cross. The cross is where all the attributes of God were displayed. God is love. God is just. God is righteous. God is a righteous Judge that is just. At the cross, Jesus was punished because He carried our sins. Jesus was cursed that we may be blessed. Mercy and truth kissed at the cross. All the Ten Commandments were honored at the cross. Jesus fulfilled the Law. Our comfort is not that there is no sin in us. Our comfort is that God does not see the sin in us. They are covered by Jesus' blood. Listening about protection is the first step to walking in protection. God works with faith. You cannot buy God's blessings with money. If you show God your faith, He will show you the supply. In a world full of bad news, we need to hear the good news. The good news is found in the word of God. The lid of the Ark of the Covenant is beaten out of a slab of solid gold, just like how Jesus was beaten to become our mercy seat. In Israel, the priest's job was to carry the Ark of the Covenant by the two poles. In the natural, it was too heavy to be carried. Our job is just to obey God and step up in faith. The priests were held up by God. It's like they were walk on air with a spring in their step. God's burden is light and His yoke is easy. If God tells you to do something, it's always easy and light. Do what you love and money will follow you. Don't do things for money. The covering that is put over the Ark of the Covenant is blue-colored. Blue represents heavenly. The Hebrew word for blue is "Tekhelet". In Israel the men have a blue prayer shawl attached to their waist. The Pharisees loved to make their shawls broad and long, even sweeping the ground, to show that they were spiritual. The Scripture says that the Messiah will come will healing in His wings. The Greek word for "wings" is "kanaph" which can also refer to the blue prayer shawl. When the woman with the issue of blood touched Jesus' shawl (His wings), she knew that she had been healed! At the cross, Jesus cried out "Finished", which is "Kula". The root word of it is "blue". The whole Ark of the Covenant is covered by the finished work (represented by the blue covering). Joshua 3:3-4 - Look onto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of faith. Israel crossed the River Jordan which is located at the Dead Sea, which is the lowest place on earth. Two thousand cubits represents 2000 years after Jesus' death. We are that generation! “and they commanded the people, saying, “When you see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, and the priests, the Levites, bearing it, then you shall set out from your place and go after it. Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure. Do not come near it, that you may know the way by which you must go, for you have not passed this way before.”” (Joshua 3:3-4 NKJV) Joshua 3:15-17 - The River Jordan is located at the lowest place on earth. The water represents judgement. Jesus, the true Ark, was the first One to go into the rivers of death and judgement. Zaretan means distress. God slapped back the judgement and distress that was all the way back to the time of Adam. Israel walked across the river on dry ground and all of them crossed completely over the Jordan. Salvation is eternal. All believers will cross over and none will be left behind! This is God's nature - He is the first One in, and the last One out in a situation. Pastors and leaders, before you expect your congregation and flock to possess their possessions, you must first possess your possessions! If you haven't done so yet, ask the Lord "Where am I missing it?", and don't blame your people for it. “and as those who bore the ark came to the Jordan, and the feet of the priests who bore the ark dipped in the edge of the water (for the Jordan overflows all its banks during the whole time of harvest), that the waters which came down from upstream stood still, and rose in a heap very far away at Adam, the city that is beside Zaretan. So the waters that went down into the Sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, failed, and were cut off; and the people crossed over opposite Jericho. Then the priests who bore the ark of the covenant of the LORD stood firm on dry ground in the midst of the Jordan; and all Israel crossed over on dry ground, until all the people had crossed completely over the Jordan.” (Joshua 3:15-17 NKJV) Jesus is the Third-Party of your marriage. Put Jesus in the center and everything will be held together.
Isaiah 52:12-14 - God is so merciful that He goes before and ahead of you to make the crooked places straight. We are not thankful enough to God because we don't see the obstacles that God has removed from our path that is ahead of us. When you drive, don't be afraid and keep looking in your rear-view mirrors in fear. There is a reason that the rear-view mirrors are so small compared to the windscreen. Looking forward! God is your Rear Guard. “For you shall not go out with haste, Nor go by flight; For the LORD will go before you, And the God of Israel will be your rear guard. Behold, My Servant shall deal prudently; He shall be exalted and extolled and be very high. Just as many were astonished at you, So His visage was marred more than any man, And His form more than the sons of men;” (Isaiah 52:12-14 NKJV) Exodus 14:19-21 - The Angel of God refers to Jesus' pre-incarnate form. He was Israel's rear guard. In a world that is dark, we can live in the light. “And the Angel of God, who went before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud went from before them and stood behind them. So it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel. Thus it was a cloud and darkness to the one, and it gave light by night to the other, so that the one did not come near the other all that night. Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea into dry land, and the waters were divided.” (Exodus 14:19-21 NKJV) Evolution is nonsense. Everything in life degrades. Examples: Things that are hotter get cooler. Creatures age and then die. John 10:4-5 - When you wake up in the morning, know that Jesus has gone ahead of you to prepare the way for you. You don't have to learn how to hear God's voice. It is a statement of fact that believers hear God's voice. "By no means" is the Greek word "ou me" which is a strong double negative. We don't need to be afraid that we will follow the devil. “And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.”” (John 10:4-5 NKJV) Genesis 7:1 - God was the first one into the ark. He said come into the ark, not go in. “Then the LORD said to Noah, “Come into the ark, you and all your household, because I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation.” (Genesis 7:1 NKJV) Genesis 8:16 - God was the last one out of the ark. He said go out of the ark, not come out of the ark. ““Go out of the ark, you and your wife, and your sons and your sons’ wives with you.” (Genesis 8:16 NKJV) Romans 14:22-23 - If we follow God's voice, we will lack for nothing. The word condemn here is "katakrino" which means "to judge". It's not "katakrima" which means "condemned to hell". Many of us has lost the sense of when we are hungry. We eat because it's time to eat. Honor fullness. If you are full, stop eating. There is a 'food police' in our mind that tell us that "Thou shalt not waste food". But if you follow that, that "thou shalt put on thy waist"! The principle of God is not dieting. When you diet, your body is starving and it tells itself to slow down the metabolic rate to conserve energy. That causes you to put on weight easily after your diet ends. Get back in touch with your feelings of hunger and fullness. Jesus fed the crowd with the five loaves and two fishes under they were FILLED (full). Don't condemn yourself for eating what you feel like eating. If you choose to eat it, eat it and thank God for it. If you are full, stop eating and thank God for it. “Do you have faith? Have it to yourself before God. Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves. But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not eat from faith; for whatever is not from faith is sin.” (Romans 14:22-23 NKJV) When you go for a celebration, if someone offers you a slice of cake, eat it - at least a bite of it, in respect for the celebration.
God was the first One into the ark and the last One out of it. This is God's nature - He is the first One in, and the last One out in a situation. Pastors and leaders, before you expect your congregation and flock to possess their possessions, you must first possess your possessions! If you haven't done so yet, ask the Lord "Where am I missing it?", and don't blame your people for it.
